I had an appointment for a fill and to get three nails repaired. On arrival, I asked if there was time for a very basic gel pedicure while I was there. Luckily, there was. We started with a pedicure then right to my nails. The tech told me I needed a new set. Ok, sure. I'm happy with starting fresh. Well, how is it possible that I got both a manicure and a full set in an hour and 15 minutes, was charged $185 and it's three days later and I already have 4 nails lifting?! I went there because where I normally go had to cancel all of their appointments for an emergency and I needed my nails fixed ASAP. Never again. read more

I really wanted to give this place another chance, but unfortunately I was disappointed again. I've been getting dip French tip manicures consistently for the past two years. I travel often, so I'm used to trying new salons and nail techs, and I know what to expect in terms of quality and durability. The first time I came here, one of my nails broke within two days and the edges of all nails began lifting shortly after. Within a week, my thumb nail had broken as well. There was also leftover dip powder visible on the nail, which made the manicure look unfinished. For comparison, my dip manicures from other salons typically last a full four weeks without breaking or lifting. I decided to give the salon another try with a different tech, but I was disappointed in different ways. The French tip lines were uneven and not very clean. And she also chose to file off 90% of the previous dip after barely soaking, causing pain to each nail. During the appointment, the technician appeared irritated and was tugging my hand around, suggesting the unevenness was due to me not relaxing, rather than the application itself. It felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. If the service were priced at $20 or $30, I might be more understanding. However, at $80, I expect both durability and clean technique. Unfortunately, I did not receive either. The gel pedicure I received the first time has still held up though. I just would not recommend getting dip. read more

Not worth the money! Went in for a gel manicure with my sisters before my due date to celebrate and they had us in and out in less than 25 minutes. Considering a gel manicure is $50, I would have expected a better experience. It felt like we were a burden and they shuffled us out as soon as they could. Aurora Nails is the best nail salon I have been to in a long time! The inside is clean, relaxing, and relatively quiet for a very chill calming atmosphere. I called a day or two ahead, and was able to get an appointment time after work. It was busy inside, but not too crowded and no one looked like they were waiting. Off the bat, Cindy, did an excellent job filing and dissolving the SNS powder that was already on my nails before she started applying more. I've been to other salons where they just try to crack the SNS off or slide the entire nail off with a Metro card, but not here-- they take their time to do it the right way. The work spaces were clean, fresh towels were put down between removing the old powder and applying more, and all of the tools she used came out of a sanitized plastic pouch before she began working on my nails. Cindy also did a great job filing my nails to the almond shape I asked for, and applied the dip powder with expert precision-- 3 "dips" with a little less powder near my cuticles. She filed the edges of my nails down to the perfect smooth texture, and used two layers of a clear top coat to finish them off. To top it all off, while the powder set, she massaged my back and hands with a relaxing warm towel. All of the lotion and cuticle oils she applied felt buttery and had fresh scents, creating a very pleasant experience. All in all, I was there for a about an hour for the entire experience. $65 was well worth it for such professionalism and attention to detail. read more

I came back and got a manicure just now and it was fabulous. Honestly I think it all comes down to who you get and whether or not the salon is busy. The two best techs I've had in the past few years since coming here are MaryLou and Nicole. They strive to make your nails shaped well and polished to perfection. Also new: instead of doing a traditional soak off for gels, they apply a coat of (what I assume to be acetone based gel) and it removed the gel a lot faster and gentler than traditional foil. Of all the local places I've been I do think Aurora is overall the best. read more

Aurora is conveniently located in Wayland Square. I visited Aurora on a weekday morning. I did not have an appointment. I dropped in and was seen immediately. I had a regular pedicure. Aurora has a typical salon setup. I sat in one of those nice massage chairs with all the bells and whistles. The young woman did a wonderful job removing the dead skin off my feet. I was nipped twice as she was cutting my cuticles, but she apologized. Following my pedicure, I received a five minute back massage that was surprisingly exactly what I needed. I must admit: Aurora had a very welcoming aura. I was able to get in and get out without any trouble. It's a nice place to go for guys too. I'd highly recommend it. read more

This is my go to spot to get my nails done. This is actually my second time here. The first time was just as great as this time. As soon as you come in you're greeted right away no matter how occupied everyone is. I had an appointment at 1pm and did not have to wait at all, so that's super important for people who are on a busy schedule. I have so many good things to say about this place. First of all, it's immaculate in here and I appreciate that very much since I've worked at multiple nail salons before. The vibe is very zen, which is another reason why I will stay coming here. There's not a lot of chatter in the place so you can really decompress, be on your phone, or read a book. The whole pedicure experience is heavenly. They start by scrubbing your legs at the start of the service to exfoliate, which is very different from any place I've ever gone too. There's so many steps they do including wrapping your legs in plastic wrap then doing some type of paraffin treatment for the heels of your feet. The massage was very soothing with just the right amount of pressure. When you finish you head over to the dryer area up front then someone comes over and places a heat wrap on your upper back and massages your neck and shoulders before you are on your way. There's no other place that I've been to that does this free service. Top tier and definitely a 5 stars! read more

Came in for a pedicure and they did not disappoint. Very clean and very professional. I am always worried going to a new salon, but I was very pleased with the results. I called ahead for an appointment and they were ready for me on time. They had a large number of staff working. My only complaint is the parking situation wasn't the best. The small lot was full and I had to drive around for street parking but it was just a quick walk away. I'm glad I left a few minutes early so I wasn't late. I've been coming here since I started school in RI and I used to love it. Cleanly, meticulous, and nice. Unfortunately, the quality has continued to go down while their prices increase. I got a manicure today and the entire process took MAYBE 20 minutes... probably closer to 15. And I came right at opening so they weren't busy. My tech didn't clean all of my polish off of my nails before painting the new coat, she barely worked on my cuticles, and she filed my nail beds down (I wasn't getting gel so don't understand why this was necessary) so now my polish has a weird texture from the rough nails underneath. For $35 plus tip I expected more - and for my manicure to at least last 30 minutes! Everyone there is way too rushed. Unfortunately I probably won't be returning. read more

High quality products and service. I made an appointment for a Friday evening at 4:30pm. When I arrived there was no where for me to sit because it was so busy. Eventually they had me sit at a pedicure station until a manicurist was available. There were definitely too many customers for COVID regulations. The service was excellent, professional, and very hygienic. When I paid, I asked to add a 20% tip to the bill and I was overcharged ($45 bill + 20% is $54, I was charged $60) it's possible there was an extra fee for removing my previous manicure but the bill was not itemized so I don't know. Incredible. I was visiting Providence visiting a college so when I left so my daughter could sit through classes I went to Aurora to get my nails done and relax a bit. I got the lux manicure and it's well worth it. Arm and hand massage and a neck and upper back rub with heat. I loved it. They also had special non toxic polish that costs $10 more. That is pretty steep but I went for it anyway. Overall this was absolutely a high end salon with extremely low prices except for the special nail polish. Definitely check this out. read more

Come here whenever you're looking for a Luxurious, Healing experience... I've been feeling under the weather lately, to which the cloudy skies during the early fall season is probably contributing. I had 2 hours to kill while waiting for my kid to get out of drama class, so I decided my neglected cuticles could use a manicure. I chose this salon because of the perfect ratings expecting it to be like all the rest I've been to in the past, but I was quite surprisedly wrong. Aurora salon surpassed my expectations. The welcoming owner kindly went outside to look for me after calling about their location (which is behind the building towards a residential parking lot) and offered me a bottle of water. Not only was the establishment very clean, the simply elegant interior decor was well thought out with all kinds of special touches--soothing neutral yet opulent colors, the work tables had an easy access hallow enclosure to organize all the supplies without looking cluttered and there were thoughtful ring holders for your jewelry. I felt fortunate to have Eva, a beautiful and warm woman, who had a very gentle, delicate, and healing touch. When she was done painting my nails with gel polish, which were curing under a UV lamp, I was caught off guard with a 2 minute shoulder and back massage with a warm towel. Boy, did I feel special! All of my blues went away and I felt whole again, at least temporarily. Not sure if this is the norm at this salon, since other technicians anywhere don't normally do this. What I love about the gel polish is that it lasts 2 weeks with a brilliant shine and is chip resistant. The UV light also helps heal the eczema on my hands. The fee, before tip, is $30. Hand massage is included and I gave a larger than usual tip for the back rub. Cheaper than most copays for therapy AND you come out with fabulous looking nails and hands! Aurora has an Upscale feel without the fancy prices. I Highly recommend Aurora for anyone who needs a little pampering... read more

I got them done on Wednesday... well four days later on Sunday they're already chipping. They cost me $55 ($62 with tip.) I'll have to get them done again on Wednesday. Another $40 from my regular nail salon. I've never had dip chip before two weeks. Too expensive for the quality. I won't be coming back:( read more
