I've been consistently going to Metro Nails from August 2022 to now for my manicure and pedicure needs. I always call ahead of time to make my appointments; it is a very simple process and scheduling is never an issue. The man who answers the phone is always friendly. I usually make my appointments with Jennifer or Molyka. They are both very personable and constantly do a great job. I trust them to take good care of my nails and I can always relax while they get my nails into better shape. Metro Nails has a wide rainbow of colors and brands to choose from. I prefer OPI, but there are also colors from DND and Essie. Like some other businesses, there is an extra charge for paying with credit cards. I use Venmo to tip my nail technicians, but some others also have cash app. Parking around Wickenden Street can be a little tricky sometimes, but you'll definitely find a spot. read more

This is the best business in all of Rhode Island. The nail techs are superior. They're all highly skilled, incredibly kind, and extraordinarily patient. The past two times I've had Ching do my nails, and she did the most beautiful ombré on them. First time going to Metro Nails; was recommend by a friend who is a regular there. Was greeted right away, check in for my appointment and told to choose a color. They started my pedicure right away, no waiting, which i loved! Great pedicure; while my feet were wrapped in hot towels, they started on my fingernails (cutting/shaping); this helped shave off time and i got to stay in my massage chair! After pedi was done, went to finish manicure. Everything went great; paid $85 for gel pedicure and manicure. Everyone was very friendly and was a relaxed vibe. Will definitely go back. read more

Not Trans Friendly!!!! I simply called to ask if they respected pronouns. Being stuck in a chair and having your pronouns disrespected is horrifying and torture. This being said the question I asked for a trans person is 100 percent valid. The masc voice that answered the phone made me ask the question multiple times, then I changed my question, to again very simply "are you queer friendly". Then the masc voice laid into me rudely and in the most unfriendly way said "We are friendly to everyone!" The person I dealt with clearly did not want me there! That's Transphobia. I've been to multiple nail salons in the area since moving to Rhode Island, and metro nails is now my favorite. The vibe is very no frills, which I appreciate. They offer a wide variety of services, and I was able to get a same day appointment. My nail tech, Rohr, gave me exactly what I asked for. She was able to fix a bad set I got at a different salon, shaving them down where they were too thick and uneven, and reshaping them to give me the shape I wanted. I stumbled upon this place by luck. So far the best pedicure I've had in RI. I had a couple sensitive spots on my feet and the lady was insanely careful not to hurt me. Seriously, with hands that steady and delicate- she should be a surgeon! Yet, when it came time for the massage she was firm. I wanted to wait a week or so to leave a review because I've had some pedicures that seem great all to find out - they gave me an ingrown or didn't even remove all of the old polish.... That's not the case here! AMAZING! While I was there I saw multiple people come in for appointments, now that I've been there - I can see why they stay booked!! Metro Nails is my go-to nail spot in Providence. I've been living here for about a year and tried other salons -- they just don't compare. The gel manicures I've gotten here last more than two weeks with the same glossiness and without any chips. Regardless of the manicurist, I've always been happy with the results. I'm kind of addicted to this place; I used to do my own manicures at home but now it's just too tempting to just go to Metro. :) I usually stop by in the early afternoon on weekdays (without making an appointment beforehand) and have been immediately seated (no wait). The staff is really great at removing gel manicures without tearing of layers of my real nails, as has happened to me at other places. They are really quick. A gel manicure usually takes less than an hour. Service is great. Some manicurists are more talkative than others, but they're all really friendly! A gel manicure is $23 with my $2 student discount -- very affordable! They only accept cash tips, but even if you don't have cash on-hand you can withdraw some from their ATM. I highly recommend this place to others, especially for a gel manicure. It's worth it! read more

I needed some me-time before my baby arrives...and also I cannot reach my toes. This place was a lifesaver and made my feet feel glorious after the spa pedicure. My gel manicure was very thorough and came out awesome. The workers are kind and they listen to what you want. The woman who did my nails asked multiple times if I liked the color/shape before proceeding. I loved that! There seems to be lots of regulars that come here and for good reason. The place is very busy. I'd recommend making an appointment to avoid having to wait for a walk-in. The only negative is that I really wished they showed/explained to you how to use the massage chairs because it would've been nice to actually enjoy the chair. The whole time I was just trying to figure out how to recline the chair without it giving me a very hard and uncomfortable punching massage. Perhaps a quick little explanation would be helpful. I had asked how to recline and she did it for me with the controller but the chair wouldn't stay for me if I wanted the massager on at the same time. Perhaps it's just me though, or the particular chair I was in. Be sure to bring cash for a tip because they can't do tips off a card. I've yet to find a nail salon in the area that is clean, affordable, and does a good job. This met all criteria (cleanliness is VERY important and they take it seriously for sure). I was 15min late to a same day appointment because I was coming from Seekonk so when I arrived to see how crazy busy the salon was on a Friday afternoon, I changed from pedicure to manicure. I said this upon arrival so nothing had been set up for the pedicure, and they were insanely busy anyways, so this helped them get to others who were waiting. But what shocked me unpleasantly was they had me done in less than 20 minutes, drying included. My friend sat to the left of me getting the same exact simple manicure, using a halal polish we both brought to the salon. Her nail tech was gentle, thorough, massaged lotion into her hands, steamed her hands with a towel, and very clean. My nail tech was aggressively rushing to get through my hands, ridiculed me for having short nails that she "couldn't do anything with" and made my cuticles bleed. She pointed at my middle fingers saying "you have cuts" but she caused them when she trimmed my cuticles without paying attention. She hardly disinfected the tools she used. She did not use lotion on my hands nor steam my hands with a towel like my friend got. She painted over the lines and used way too much alcohol to fix her awful precision. She warned me that it will sting because of "your cuts." She charged my credit card without telling me the amount and didn't provide a receipt because "you have a tap (credit) card." When I requested my receipt from another nail tech, my friend and I were bewildered that we were charged the same price for two wildly different experiences. My friend was shocked at what she was seeing me get right next to her own experience and it took us a while to process the whole situation. I'm not sure if I was being punished for having short nails or arriving late (even though my friend repeatedly notified them I was coming soon and they said it was totally fine) or if my nail tech was having a bad day but a salon should be relaxing, and at least give you nice hands. I left what felt like a hostile work environment with bloody cuticles and a below-average manicure, hardly a color change if that. I won't be coming back to say the least. read more

I had a MUCH better experience here than I did the last time. Was in and out within an hour. Right away, the staff advised me to pick a color. Then, Lyna came over (she did my nails) and said she could start soaking my gels off while I picked a new color. I showed her a picture of the nails I wanted and she was able to find two colors she thought would work with my skin tone. She also let me know the price would be $5 more with the ombré, which I didn't mind, but it's still nice to know ahead of time. She tested out both base colors (shades of red) that she chose on me and let me pick myself. She then chose two glitter polishes and tested them over the base color, allowing me to pick one of them or both. Before doing each part herself, she checked with me to see if I liked it or wanted to change anything, which hardly happens to me if I go to get my nails done! She was extremely patient and precise with my nails and I really appreciated all of the effort she put in. Also, she did an amazing job with my Lyna deserves to be recognized! read more

I came back to Metro after a long stint and was happy that they gave me a same day appointment at 6pm. The tech did an okay job, but everywhere else I've gone for a dip manicure, they use the UV light for the base layer and do two top coat layers, and dip manicures usually last 4 weeks for me at a minimum. my nails look terrible after just one week. $45 for a manicure to last a week, not okay for me. I guess I'll still be on the lookout for a good nail salon to be my go to. read more

My first manicure EVER was at Metro Nails this past February. It was a little birthday treat to myself, and it's been over a month since my visit, and my French manicure is STILL staying strong! I paid only $28 (which included a student discount) for a gel French manicure. The manicure was very quick and efficient, lasting less than 45 minutes, and they did it all: removed my old nail polish, treated my cuticles, applied base coat and top coat, and massaged my hands! When you visit: -The only downside of this place is that there is little to no ventilation, so when you first enter, you are met with very, very strong fumes from the nail polish and various chemicals. I used to always get Metro Nails mixed up with Z Nails: two nail salons in close proximity on Wickenden St. However, after a couple of visits, I think Metro Nails is truly the gem of the two! The space is newer, with less chemical smell, and the ladies here do a great job. It's been two weeks, and my pedicure is still going strong! The express pedicure is a steal at only $15! I don't come here for my acrylic nails anymore, but it's definitely my favorite place on College Hill. The prices are decent but not amazing. I don't know her name (sorry!) but the older manager-like lady nail tech has always done impeccable nails for me. She takes an extremely long time, but it's because she spends so much time paying attention to detail and making sure the nails are perfect, so it's a trade off. Jennifer is also great because she can do any design you want, she's quick, and very creative and fun to talk to.
