I've been to Color Nails a few times, and I really wanted to like it there, but the energy I get from the owner is very uncomfortable. I've noticed that she interacts with white women very differently from Black women--she's warm and welcoming toward them, but her demeanor shifts when dealing with us. I've personally experienced this, and I'm not the only one. A friend of mine, who is also a woman of color, went there and felt the same way. She also noticed the difference in how the owner treats customers based on their race, which made her feel unwelcome. It's disappointing because I was hoping to make this my go-to nail salon, but after multiple visits and seeing this pattern, I don't feel comfortable supporting a business where I don't feel valued as a customer. read more

First I got a fun halloween design for my birthday and that made up my mind. This is my nail salon. I proceeded to get a Christmas theme, then a winter theme. Every one was about 1 1/2 month apart and the artwork was still perfect! My nails just got too long! I currently am sporting the winter theme. A friend and I have been going here for a few years. The staff is friendly and the shop is always clean. We always make an appointment and most times are taken immediately. The couple of times they have been finishing up with another client they have always apologized and we have enjoyed relaxing in our pedicure chairs while we wait. If you pay with cash you are given a discount, otherwise you the cost of the processing for the credit card is passed along as merchants have raised those rates with the business. Well I never been hurried in and out of a place so quick. Cleanliness was not found here but since my kids were at the movies I gave it a shot. I was not given the option to choose which pedicure I wanted and received a half fast service I didn't even think deserved a tip. Granted a service was given I did pay and provided the bare minimum tip I hate to admit was not even a proper 15%. I must say, the outfits chosen by the staff were more for a night at the club. I was happy she put an apron on- I thought I was going to get smacked with an extra set of "hands" from the conversation I overheard, the plan for Saturday night was in full motion. This is the worst salon I have ever visited. The staff are rude, unfriendly, unprofessional, unwelcoming and act as though you are bothering them. I was the only customer on a Saturday afternoon with 6 other nail techs sitting around, sleeping in pedi chairs etc. That should have raised a red flag since if they were any good they would have been busy. My nail tech was rude and rough, didn't listen at all as to how I wanted my nails done and shaped. As soon as I made a comment they started talking gibberish in Asian and it was obvious they were talking shit about me. I was going to have a pedi too but decided against it since the techs work sucked and the place was not clean. No sign of any sanitization protocols or equipment. They say first impressions are lasting impressions, if so, I think I found my go-to nail salon here! I was fortunate enough to get Le and she killed it. She was personable and friendly but real. She listened to what I wanted gave me her professional opinion and we agreed on the final outcome and I couldn't be happier will definitely be returning and would highly rec *update* I think I jumped the gun on this review (I wrote it in the parking lot before I even left haha) while I obviously loved my first experience and the way my nails looked it was a different story about 2 days after I got my nails done. I noticed my top coat started to peel in a couple of my nails, it started looking rather cruddy to where I went in to have her fix it. She was accommodating and didn't hesitate to "fix" my nail. Her solution was to put another top coat over what was peeling and chipping off. So it still looked pretty cruddy, I didn't say anything more about it and decided I would continue my search for my go-to nail salon. The people who work here are SO nice. We brought my boyfriends cute little 96 year old grandma here to get her nails done. From the minute we walked in, they treated her like the Queen of England. Not to get into gory details but this lady NEEDED professional help on those nails cause hey, they've been there for 96 years and all. Her nails came out SO clean and white it was like some kind of magic. They filed them down, evened them out and they just looked so darn good when she was done. They took super special care of her, were very gentle and entertained her the entire time. We were super impressed. Now she wants to go back every month and we'll definitely be coming back here. I wish I could give more stars. I started going to this place in the spring. Went every 2 weeks and LOVED them. They were friendly, they remembered me each time, they knew how I liked my nails. Everything was perfect! Until the last few times I went. My acrylic nails started cracking down the middle every time I got them done. I would go back to get them fixed (which I would pay for) and they would have an attitude. When I went for a fill I asked to make the acrylic thicker because that was the issue. They never did and my nails kept cracking. I decided to give it one more chance and get a brand new set. The owner did the complete opposite of everything I asked and wanted. And proceeded to say that I broke my real nails and came back to have her fix it and make her think it was her fault. No. My real nails are short and thin because Ive had acrylics on for years. Nobody was blaming anyone for one of my natural nails being broken. She also started complaining that she ordered me and my friend super long tips because we like long nails but never used them. I never asked her to order them and I was fine with the length I originally had. My full set came out awful. She put stiletto tips for coffin nails. The tips themselves were actually shorter then my acrylics before. She barely shaped them and then rushed through my gel nail polish on them to the point it was uneven and bubbling at the corners of my nails. So now my gel is peeling off less than a week of getting them done. Very disappointed with Lee and Kevin at Color nails, they lost what would've been a forever customer. read more

No, no, no, no, no! This place was awful. I generally would not discourage people from going to local businesses, but this place is wrong for all sorts of reasons. So, here's the scoop: I needed a quick mani and I couldn't get in to my regular salon on the fly. I was running errands in Seekonk and Yelped nail salons near by. This place had the best rating of the 3 around me. I called and was told I could get in right away and headed over. When I got there I was greeted by lots of greenery and a gentleman who went through the usual routine: what service?, pick your color, sit here... The color selections were shoddy at best. I found an old pink Essie that I though would do, although it wasn't quite what I was looking for. I sat in the manicure chair and a woman approached and without saying a word, grabbed my hands and started picking at the white polish on my nails. Still silent, she grabbed polish remover and very aggressively began rubbing the nail color off. When she was done with one hand she made a quick cut with her eyes to a clear bowl with about an inch of water in it and motioned with her head toward it. I placed my de-polished hand in the bowl and the water was cold. Seriously, COLD. At this point I was highly confused because the placed was pretty packed and I head all kinds of conversations happening between the staff and other customers. When anther lady came in they even all greeted her by name. I was getting the impression that my nail tech had just been pissed off by her boss or something so she was going out of her way to give me the worst service possible to prove some point to him. I'll keep the rest short. She never used anything on my hands other than acetone and cold water. She used what looked like nasty utensils to push my cuticles back and file my nails. The few words she did speak to me were these, "Go wash your hands." Very quick and rude, I had to ask her to repeat herself because it was so quick I didn't understand. Once she began putting the base coat on (this was seriously 5 minutes into my service), I decided I did not want this lady polishing my nails after all and I told her just put clear polish on me. The whole experience took less than 10 minutes and I was so frustrated at the end. I would NEVER get a service and not tip someone, but I seriously considered only leaving her and buck. I had been a customer of Color Nails in the past and stopped going a couple of years ago. I couldn't recall why until i tried them out again today. If you're looking for a relaxing, serene, and clean place to get your nails done... you should probably LOOK ELSEWHERE. The volume of the employees talking to one another compiled with the loud TV does not make for a calming environment. Additionally, I've seen reviews citing how clean this place is. My technician kept the tools he used on the floor for the duration of my pedicure, and i didn't see any sterilization equipment anywhere. The ceiling vent was being supported by a moldy ceiling tile. Upon walking in all the technicians instantly acknowledged me. Which was nice... even though 2 or 3 people asking me what i want to have done and having to repeat it each time for each person was a little overwhelming. I was directed to a pedicure chair promptly, which was pretty great for a Saturday morning. The pedicure i received was OK, though i don't think the technician i got was a seasoned one. When attempting to file my toes he ended up just scraping skin off the next toe instead of the nail on the intended one which was a little unpleasant. The polish was applied shabbily and definitely wasn't the best I've seen. I will say the leg massage i received was lengthy and one of the best ones I've had in quite a while. (spoiler alert... this was the high point of my visit) As for the shellac nail polish.... The first girl: had me soak my hands in acetone then began scraping off not only the shellac polish but also large portions of my actual finger nail all the while saying "wow your fingernails are thin"... well they weren't before i came here... but, OK... she then began with the normal manicure part. She then let me sit until the second girl was ready to take me (i believe this was the owner)... The second girl: she came along to put on my shellac polish. For the duration of my manicure she had been talking loudly about "how stupid people are", "everyone wants something for free", and bad mouthing customers of days gone by. This made me very uncomfortable.... she didn't let the shellac dry in between coats and also applied the polish pretty far from where my nail began so it almost looks like even though i got them done today that they've already grown out a week. Then a third girl came to do my massage which was short then just yelled "DONE" and walked away when she was finished. This made me feel like i was just something being put together on an assembly line. This place is unprofessional, made me uncomfortable, and just plain rude. read more

I drop my grandmother off here every week and they take care of her as if she's part of their family and always come to help her every time we walk in the door. They even get her up into the pedicure chair now and she's sworn off the foot doctor saying, "how much do I pay the foot doctor? And for what? He doesn't do half of what they do here!". Also, it smells nice in here. I haven't been to a lot of nail salons or anything but it doesn't smell like a drop of acetone in there. She's usually there about two hours for a mani-pedi and they always take her right away, so that 10-minute in-and-out review is a crock. read more

My daughter and I have been going to Color Nails for over 10 years and wouldn't think of going anyplace else. The salon is clean and comfortable, Le and her staff are warm and welcoming, and they all do an amazing job. I have circulation problems in my toes and Le has made sure that all of her staff are aware of my condition so they take special care to not hurt me. if i could give less than 1 star i would. i came into this place for the first time today with dip nails. with every other place i've been to, they slightly file them down before soaking them. at color nails, however, they do not soak their dip. they shove a metal tool underneath and pry it up. due to this method, the nail tech ripped up the first layer of my nail as well as the corner. they became extremely weak and fragile. i would highly recommend and discourage anyone who cares about their nails to go here. read more
