My sister visited this salon last week. She raved about the experience It just opened under new management. OMG! The sweetest owner and nail tech gave me a gel French manicure. The quality of my manicure was a 10 out of 10. Remember the good old days when a manicure included soaking your hands before they worked on your cuticles, cleaned under your finger nails, massaged your neck, and gave you a fantastic hand massage? I will return for all my future manicures and pedicure. The quality of service and very personable staff made this such an enjoyable experience. This salon has been opened for less than 2 weeks. Decided to give this place a try (I have been here before but couldn't remember my experience(s) enough to make an accurate Yelp Rating) on this beautiful Sunday morning because the salons I usually go to nearby all had wait times of 35+ minutes. So the pedicure prices START at $45 according to their Price List & Just INCREASE from there (upon speaking with a nail technician she told me they do offer a BASIC pedicure for $30 and then it was on a few of the price lists but not all). Once I saw their pricing I immediately remembered that being my primary reason of why I got my nails done elsewhere! I decided to go with the "basic" pedicure (which is not even featured on the Pedicure Price List it was just affixed to the bottom by a Label Maker saying BASIC PEDICURE $30) but because I requested GEL & the French design- the nail technician told me my total would be $60.00!!! That's a REALLY EXPENSIVE "basic pedicure" but I didn't want to wait at another place so I decided to pay the extra $20+ due to my own lack of patience. So oddly enough the nail technician painted my nails first (using the special gel drying machine- in between coats) then after they were dry she had me soak my feet (it it was literally no longer than 10 minutes) which I also thought was WAY too short. Then she started with the massage which was actually really nice & it was longer then the usual 2 minutes most salons offer. I do remember when I got a manicure here (it was probably over 2 years ago) they give me a complimentary massage! I also did get a complimentary neck/back massage as well- which was extremely nice! So the massages here are always excellent! But I swear there was NOTHING to this pedicure. I don't think the nail tech removed the dead/callous skin from the bottom of my foot. I don't think she removed the dead skin from around my nail beds either. This was the quickest pedicure I've ever gotten & I hope tomorrow my feet are not dry as they have been! Aside from the pedicure that I would rate a 2/5 the place is very clean and sanitary & they did open an entirely new sterile package when she worked on my feet (I think maybe the only thing she did was cut them down & file)! So it's Very clean, the decorations and ambiance is also very nice. The atmosphere itself is relaxing. They have massage chairs as well. They also have a great selection of colors & have the good brands and they do offer: gel, shellac & the currently popular dipping gel. They offer a lot of variety! However I wanted a pedicure because of the awful state that my feet were in. They were extremely dry and needed to have the dry skin sloughed off the bottom of my feet and the dry skin around my nail beds should have been meticulously worked on. I needed a proper pedicure and for $72 (tip included)I should have definitely received that! If my feet are rough and dry tomorrow morning- I will be returning- especially after spending nearly $100 on a pedicure that took no longer than 20 minutes I was extremely disappointed they physically look nice though- I will be updating to see if they remain that way! read more

Walked in randomly to get a pedicure with a friend. There wasn't a wait and we were seated right away. For $30, we got a spa bath,chair massage and hot towel massage. The price board is deceiving. All of those add ons cost more but they were all part of the regular pedicure. They also gave us water. The hot towel massage was awesome. Kathy knew where the knots were on my back and massaged them really strongly. Big selection of Essie and opi polishes. And the tools came out of a sterile bag from a sanitization oven. It was my first time visiting this business. I called for a pedicure and they were able to take me in right away. Toby helped me match the color on my finger nails for the polish for my toes. He even painted his own nails to compare all the different variations of the specific color! I was blown away as I've never experienced that type of great service anywhere! The woman who did my pedicure did a wonderful job. She made sure I was comfortable and had really gentle hands. I will definitely be coming back here! read more

Called ahead on Saturday and made a reservation for Sunday 10 am. Highly recommend reservations for any nail salon. They are extremely busy and don't usually have spots for walk-ins. If anything you'll be told to come back at a later time. Staff was very friendly. You walk in and they ask you to pick a color if you you want color. Waited a few minutes on the couch, was called over to the pedicure chair. Handed a menu, like, you would at a restaurant. Splurged and got the Golden-something. It had gold flecks in all the stuff. Whatever the gimmick, it worked. Usual pedicure things. Creams, trimming, filing, etc. got some plastic "booties" some foot and leg massages. Had one nail painted and was asked if I liked it. I like that they check, because maybe it doesn't look like you expected. I was okay with it. Continued on. At the end I was directed to the mani/pedi dryer area. Was given a 2 minute warm towel shoulder massage. Wish it was longer! Towards the end, had some drying/finishing spray and was placed under the dryer for a few more minutes. Paid in cash, tipped in cash. Staff is very pleasant. Place is CLEAN and smells nice. And also: look at my tootsies!!! read more

I always come here. They always manage to squeeze me in and make time for me and they never rush me in and out like other nail salons. I usually get a dip manicure every two weeks and a pedicure every four weeks or so. They always do an amazing job and are quick and efficient. Their supplies are always clean as well. Definitely come here if you want a job well done! read more

Very open, big, clean nail salon. Beautiful chandelier lights and nice decorations. I recently started coming here about once a month for a pedicure. They have a sheet that explains the different types of pedicures that you can choose from with their prices. Unfortunately the cheapest pedicure on the sheet is 45 dollars. They do offer a basic pedicure for 30 which is in smaller letters at the bottom of the sheet. The basic pedicure is literally a basic pedicure. There's nothing to it. They don't even scrape the bottom of your feet. It was by far the shortest pedicure I have even had. They do set a timer when massaging your legs and feet, then when you are drying your nails they do another timer and massage your neck, upper back, and shoulders with a hot towel, which is a very nice touch. Pretty much this is a higher end salon. If you want a good pedicure you have to pay for it, but even their basic 30 dollar pedicure gets the job done. UPDATE: Went back and tried the 45 dollar pedicure and it was definitely worth the money! A great experience, much longer, and the polish lasted longer. I will be back! read more

Besides the fact that they are pricey for no reason, they don't even do acrylics. They have another technique that they call a "full powder set" which is some type of nail extension. They use a clear nail tip, glue it, brush a liquid on the nails then dip in the powder and do this process repeatedly. I paid 50 dollars for it and I was charged an extra 5 because I previously had gotten acrylics done at another nail salon and needed them removed, mind you I already had them cut, and I filed majority of them off before I got there. That wasn't the problem though. , 2 of my nails already broke after having them for one day! For simple things such as opening my refrigerator. I have been getting my nails done for years now and this doesn't happen. This was my first time going to Happy Nails & Spa. When I got there she started glueing the nail tips and cutting it. I had to run somewhere for an emergency and I told her I'd be back in ten minutes but she went ahead and took another customer, which is okay, but I stayed there for a good 3 hours to get this done. I usually go to a local nail salon in johnston, which does a way better job than this, takes less time AND they charge half the price of this. It also lasts for 2 weeks without any nails breaking at all. Other than that, Happy Nails is clean and decorated nicely, it doesn't have a strong smell of chemicals either. They give you a nice massage on your back and hands, they exfoliate and moisturize them with a wax and lotion which may be why it was expensive. This bad experience may have happened because the person who did my nails could've been inexperienced or maybe their other methods for nail extensions are better, But, I feel like this place is a rip off.... the glue on nails you buy from a drug store lasts longer than this. if I could give it 0 stars I would. I am so frustrated that I wasted this much for nails that I could've used for two fresh full sets lasting up to four weeks at another salon. I was referred to this place by my sister and thought I'd give it a try because of the 5 star rating but I will never be coming back here again. A big rip off. read more

I just walked out of the salon i was trying a new salon near my home ,I just experienced the worst display of customer service I have ever experienced the gentleman that greeted me wouldn't speak to me just pointed to colors when I told him what I wanted there system was so different from what I've seen in the past and I have been going to salons for 35+ years they started to remove my polish with a heavy file which caused my my real nail to chip I asked why they don't use acetone and cotton with aluminum wrapping first said they don't do it that way also wouldn't fill my existing nails which were done 3 weeks ago they were the rudest most angry people I have dealt with don't put yourself through this experience there are a lot of other nail salons to try read more

Nice that they offer incentive for paying cash - treated myself and my daughter to a pedicure ... but I was not eligible for a coupon because I paid for both of us ! To top that off the tech was quite rude! A coupon would have surely brought us back ... There are other nail salons out there... one I know gives 5%off for cash on everything. Happy nails I'm not so happy seeing as I just paid $50 for an express pedicure my foot was soaking in water literally for no more than two minutes. He barely scrubbed my foot he literally did two strokes put a back and water and wiped it off... I could a gave myself a better pedicure with my eyes closed . This is by far the best place I've ever gotten my nails done. Yes, it is expensive but it's worth it. When I get my nails done, they take so much more care than any other place, with a back massage, paraffin wax, hand massage and this is the only place my nails don't chip after. I've waited an entire month between and they didn't even chip then. The pedicures are also amazing, except I do agree with other posts about the basic sucking. I got the basic once and I never will again. The next one up is well worth the price difference. I do have to say that I like getting gel on my toes and I think it's ridiculous they charge an extra $20 just for gel....that's more than the entire bottle is worth so I don't get that. Don't forget to get a massage card, for every 10 visits you get a free massage. If you pay in cash, you get a coupon for money off your next visit. They also have a rewards card that you can easily rack up for money off future visits. I did have to pay for the rewards card though, which was also stupid. The inside is very clean and modern. They also give you a bottle of water which is awesome. I've noticed containers of vitamin e pills around but never take them. I recommend making an appointment as they get very busy and I've been told over an hour wait numerous times. read more

It is worth paying a little extra for their signature pedi if you have tired overworked feet. They really go the extra mile to make you feel refreshed. Went here today and was not impressed with the service. Salon is very clean but that's it. Kathy, who did my nails smelt like peanut butter the whole time (which I'm allergic to) aside from that she was chewing on her mouth making disturbing noises and then walking over to the sink to spit, which I was able to see from my seat. Half way through my gel polish change she tells me the price is $25 because they cut your nails? I've never heard of such a thing, I had her switch to a manicure as it was only $5 more. It was my first visit to the salon. They didn't speak to me at all. He cut my toe and made a couple of my fingers bleed. The nail polish job was awful. Some of the sides of the nails weren't even done and bunched up. The gentleman ask me to pay before he did my nails. So, I was thinking it was because he didn't want me to mess up my nails. I wouldn't have tip him $10 if I had known what a bad job he was going to do. After he said I was okay to go. I put my coat on and 3 of my nails smudged. So, I told him about it and sat back down to have him fix it. I'll never go there again! read more

I live in the Boston area and my boyfriend lives in Johnston; after checking out various nail places in the area, I'm so thankful I finally found this one! I usually get gel manicures done here (and regular pedicures)! The technicians are efficient but also extremely detailed - and everything seems very sanitary. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing and the manicure includes a very nice shoulder/back massage! I actually don't even get my nails done in the Boston area anymore and I wait to get them done here! I won't get my nails done anywhere else - hands down best place I've tried.
