I am not a regular manicure pedicure person, but my 90 year old grandma recently told me she has been struggling to cut her toe nails because of some leg pain. I was able to schedule an appointment for two pedicures the same day, and the staff was excellent. They were very attentive to my grandma, helping her with her shoes and her bag as we went from the pedicure chair to the drying chair and making sure she was comfortable the whole time. The spa is very clean and bright, and there is abundant parking. This probably isn't the fanciest pedicure available, but the Aloha Spa Pedicure included soaking, moisturizing, scrubbing, and callous removal along with the cut and polish. Overall, I think if I wanted a pedicure for a special occasion I'd easily decide to go back to Aloha. read more

They speak english very well. They are all very competent with dip which is difficult to find. I never have any issues with cracking/breaking and they last over 5 weeks. The best salon in the area for SNS/powder dip manicures! They are impeccably clean, the space is large and bright with TVs if you need something to entertain you. The staff are professional and detail-oriented, they've never cut corners to save time when it's busy. What I appreciate most is that they don't use the electric file on my natural nail, which is a time-saver but it can be damagin. Glad I gave this place a second chance. The first time I went, I was in and out within 19 minutes which completely baffled me since I had my gel polish removed and then had a gel manicure service done. I thought for sure it was going to be the worst manicure of my life, BUT it wasn't and actually lasted about 15 days before chipping. I went back a second time and was pleasantly surprised. This time, my gel manicure took the typical 40 minutes and again, has lasted the fair amount of time before chipping. The place is big and they have a ton of color options. Everyone's been nice on the two occasions I've been in, and their prices are competitive with surrounding areas for the services obtained. Pretty bummed, I went for a gel manicure after 2 months of not getting my nails done and she didn't even clean up my cuticles.

While my nails look great and the person who did my nails put a lot of effort into making them look great (and they do!), I developed an infection next to one of my toenails a couple of days after the pedicure. My general impression was that it isn't the most sanitary salon. I have been to many places where they bring out instruments that have clearly been sanitized and wrapped on a tray prior to being used on you, and I didn't see that here at all. I decided I was probably overreacting and I would be fine, but now my toe is infected and I have to treat it with antibiotics. I've never experienced an infection on my toes before and there was no other event that would have led to the infection. While the quality of the nails was good, they really need to step up their cleanliness and ensure their instruments and surfaces are fully sanitized to prevent events like these from occurring on other individuals. read more

Having recently been to Serenity Nails and Spa down the road, I would recommend Aloha over their services every time. We had an appointment and we're taken right away. The atmosphere was clean and friendly, the special pedicure was reasonably priced and very good. My mom and I got LOVELY massages on legs and feet and then shoulders while our toes dried. Careful trimming and shaping, right amount of polish. A lady near us was very impressed by the technique on her gel French tips. Mom got her eyebrows waxed and was pleased. Massage chairs were great. I'm writing this for my mom, as she hasn't had time to. I went in there with her yesterday 5/21. I had Allen who was excellent throughout, BUT my mom had Mark who ripped her off ENTIRELY. We were there for a mani/pedi and were started at the exact same time. To start, Mark did not put ANYTHING on her legs, just randomly wrapped them in seran wrap (mine had some green mud like stuff). My guy at one point put giant globs of this purple gel like stuff on my legs were for my mom he did a couple flicks of it which was basically useless. THEN he cut her 10 minute foot massage short by 1.5 minutes, we literally watched him stop the timer and walk away to get the hot stones. THEN when we got the wax on our heels, my mom did not understand where to put her foot as he was trying to low effort put the shoe on for her. He then grabbed her foot aggressively and put it the proper position and ripped off the wax off both her heels (meanwhile mine stayed on the entire time he put my shoe on and finished painting my nails). And to top it off, during the manicure they do this nice short back massage. Once again my guy was great, but my mom had this woman bang on her back for LITERALLY 10 seconds and was done. It seriously felt like it was a joke by how poorly her service was compared to mine. It really made me start thinking about changing salons after that visit. read more

My blind 95 yr old grandmother could do a better gel manicure. the polish peeled off after 2 days and I left with 2 bleeding fingers. The older man was so aggressive with my hands and would GRUNT at me when the polish smudged because HE kept shoving my hand into the UV machine. I would give Aloha Nails Spa 3.5/4 stars. They have done a good job of making everything safe during COVID. I made an appt about 30 min before I got there and was seen immediately. I got the gel manicure. The nail tech was nice but wasn't very talkative and didn't shape my nails exactly the way I asked. She gave a nice back and hand massage although a little shorter than I receive a most places. The service was very quick and I would recommend this place if you are in a rush but if you are looking for a relaxing spa day I would look into their more "pedicure/manicure" spa services. read more

Prices are decent, location is clean, they currently have plastic dividers up for covid. I like coming here but sometimes my services are inconsistent, I usually get a gel manicure and sometimes it comes out patchy, including darker colors, and I often have to wait even after making an appointment. ***UPDATE*** Index finger tip broke Thursday morning. This dipping/SNS full set/tips didn't even make it one week and SNS should last minimum 3 weeks. The clear tips they use are a cheaper thinner product than the opaque tips normally used on any full set. I will never return to this place. I went in for a pedi and Dipping with tips Thursday night. I had a 530 appointment and I got there around 535pm but I had to wait until 610pm before they started my pedi. Pedi was done very quick and they looked good. Unfortunately the polish started coming off Sunday AM which has never ever happened at any nail salon I've gone too. Poor application quality since I only use Opi nail polish. After my pedi was complete a guy started my dipping around 645pm. I stated twice that I wanted tips cause my nails were so short. He didn't hear me the first so I said it again and he acknowledged my comment and laughed at my reference to my nub nails. He used the drill mostly which is NOT correct protocol for dipping and he was rushing. He put the base layer on and I noticed he didnt do the tips. I said I asked for tips and made a hug sigh and then said it was to late how about next time. I said "no" I asked for tips. He said you didn't ask for tips and I immediately said yeas I did. And I fact I said it twice and reminded him of his laughing at my short nail comment. He sighed again and then proceeded to use the drill to take off the base dipping layer, which again is NOT the correct protocol for dipping. He burned two fingers and the second one was so bad I pulled my hand back and said that ok that hurt. At this point I'm annoyed and he won't make eye contact with me but yet he is talking to another male coworker who has now come over to ask what is wrong in their native tongue. The other guys asks me to move to a different chair so he can finish it. He never apologizes or acknowledges his mistake and I found his behavior to be rude and very unprofessional. The second guy finished the job correctly and used the emory board sander and not the drill which is the correct protocol for dipping/SNS. I ended up staying until 8pm and no other employees were there except my second guy. I will update this rating later to see how long my dipping nails last. Wh should last at minimum 3 weeks. read more

Aloha nails is located between a pizza shop and an ice cream shop/restaurant. When I walked in, I was greeted and asked to choose a color- the typical nail shop etiquette. After I sat down in a chair I was assigned to a man who did a really good job on my pedicure. We had no conversation, however. The reason I am giving Aloha nails four stars is because after the man finished my pedicure he said, "let's go" like some military general giving his troops orders. After he led me to the chair where people dry their nails he gave me a super rough massage that left me in pain and told me the price, took my money, returned my card and walked off. Aloha Nails was a pleasant surprise and dare I say, my new regular nail spot. The space is bright and airy. There were a good number of staff working and enough seats to tend to at least 18 clients at a time. The nail polish selection was great. The customer service was excellent. There were different pedicure options at different price points. I chose the Basic Pedicure but it was far from basic. The nail technician did an efficient and thoughtful job. Little details go a long way and Aloha Nails thinks of every little one. It was definitely the most hygienic nail salon I have ever been to. This is my favorite nail salon. Donna, Ellie and their staff do a fantastic job. There is never any waiting, and the salon is lovely. My nails, eyebrows and and toes are perfect. The attention to detail is perfect here and it's open 7 days a week. The basic pedicure includes 6 minutes of foot and leg massage, aroma therapy oils, an exfoliating scrub, paraffin heel treatment, hot stones and a hot towel. The basic manicure is about the same with of course your hands. The prices are super competitive, and as I said - the attention to detail, cleanliness and value are spot on. I won't think twice about walking out if I don't think the cleanliness is up to snuff and I certainly don't give 5 stars to just any ol' place but Aloha Nails is legit. The space is bright and airy, the decor is modern and the staff are very friendly. Prices are on par with other salons in the area and there are lots of stations so I doubt you'll have to wait long if at all. They have a great selection of polish colors and the basic pedicure includes a hot stone massage which is lovely. Absolutely, hands down (or should I say feet?), the BEST pedicure I have ever received. The aromatherapy, the massage, the hot stones... it was like heaven! Having moved to Barrington from Hawai'i, I can truly say this salon is filled with Aloha! The woman who took care of me was gentle and kind. As a typically nervous person at salons (unlike many American women, it makes me uncomfortable to be waited on), I felt very relaxed and at ease. I've been to Aloha Nails Spa 3 times for gel mani/pedis. The manis last me 3 weeks and the pedicures legit never come off. I also like that when they take off my gel I never am worried about them grating my nail down too thin like I have experienced at other salons. I've tried all of the salons in Barrington and some in EP and I think they are the best nail salon in the area. The ambiance is relaxing, the place is relatively clean, it doesn't reek of nail polish, and I don't have to wait too long when I call ahead. Only complaint and I guess warning is that you have to be very clear about which service you are getting. I have asked for the basic pedicure and then realized halfway through that I was getting the upcharged pedicures and been like hey I didn't want all of that but they still charged me. It is a pricey place but I think that the services and long-lasting quality make it worth it. Oh ALSO I wish I didn't have to wear a mask in there. The rest of Barrington was no mask this summer and whenever I went in they told me I have to wear a mask which makes the experience less enjoyable. But hey to each their own and I understand it is their choice as a business. read more

This is my first time coming here and from the moment I walked in I knew I liked it. The music is so relaxing and calming, I felt like I could take a nap. I had a dipping powder manicure done (for the first time) and I'm in love with it!! I haven't been this happy about a manicure in so long. In addition, to the nails they give a back massage and use a warm towel with lotion. Just a little extra pampering. The tools used are clean and come straight out of a new sealed package, the staff was pleasant and did a fabulous job on my nails. My only issue was during my manicure another worker was just sitting there watching, it made me feel uncomfortable. I will most definitely be returning!
