This place is amaziiing. Wonderful atmosphere and deep tissue massage chairs (theee best). They use really good product & they use paraffin too, your feet are soft as hell at the end. The massage for the feet was good, but could have been better... they could have done it a little slower & more focused on the feet, however, it could have been that we were so close to closing time that the employees were tired and just wanted to go home that's why I take off one star. I love Serenity! The space is CLEAN, which I LOVE. I always get gel and they have a ton on of colors to choose from. Today I got a fill and my nails came out perfect! While they did an okay job on my nails they were very rough pushing on my skin under the nails. Like why?! And I said it just bur yet he kept on going. And the price was by far not worth it. God forbid they use another coat of powder on. Yes I could have spoken up about the pain and the color but I had already figured out a quarter of the way through I wasn't ever coming back. Just because you're in Barrington doesn't mean you can overcharge and not provide quality service. Never again. read more

I was excited to get a pedicure today and called ahead for an appointment. Spa pedicure lasted about 20 minutes with little attention to callous treatment, dry summer heels, etc. The nail tech did a decent job on the nails themselves though. I can see why the reviews are so low. I gave them a chance due to the positive reviews and the convenient location. I came to relax and ended up having a less than pleasant experience at Serenity Nails & Spa. First of all, I went in for a manicure and pedicure. During my pedicure, I barely got to soak my feet. When the technician started working on my feet, he repeatedly snatched them out of the water in a rough manner. Like he grabbed my ankle and SNATCHED my feet out of the water. The paint job was sloppy and there was paint left all around my toes. I felt the tech rushing as more people came through the door. I wanted the manicure mainly because I had hang nails and I wanted the area around my nail cleaned up. The manicure was HORRIBLE. I couldn't tell you what shape my nails were (although I asked for square). My nails were barely cleaned up. The tech clipped a few things with the nail clippers and that is all. The dead skin and hang nails remained. I think I could have done it at home. I was so upset after leaving the salon and I will not be returning. Please heed my warning and go somewhere else where your money spent will be worth it and where you will be valued as a customer. (UPDATE) The manager of the salon reached out to me and she was extremely eager to make things right. If you give this salon a try, perhaps try asking for a specific person. Beautiful job, Love my nails and they understood what I wanted. They really take they're time in what they do to make sure it looks good but are still sufficient. the paint job was a bit sloppy. The edges of my nails arnt completely covered as you can see (I have the long square purple nails) it wasn't a large problem due to the fact I am very nit picky. But the acrylics are great! I love it here. I'm a bartender and their gel polish lasts well over a month for me. The only reason I need them redone is because they grow out. They also give short massages with a manicure and I think that itself is worth coming back to. Clean atmosphere, plenty of room and techs to serve you with little to no wait. I've come to this nail shop off and on over the years. It's VERY clean (probably the cleanest nail shop I've been to in RI, actually), very good selection of top brands and colors, nice service. However, the last time I came in, my gel French manicure chipped in 3 days. My gel pedicure on the other hand is proving to be indestructible a month plus in, even after spending a ton of time on the beach and running this summer and attacking the pedicure at home with acetone (I got bored w/ the color but gave up trying to get it off myself. This pedi refuses to quit). Pricing is a little higher compared to some other nail shops I go to more frequently with comparable service levels. A-ok, I'd come back but would consider other more convenient and less expensive options given the luxury price point here. read more

They give a soothing hot stone massage with each pedicure and their massage chairs are quite nice. My sister's bridal party came here before the wedding and we were all very happy with the service. it's a pretty place, newly renovated - looks like HGTV has been here! They do a very good job, and mani/pedis come with a back rub while you dry and paraffin treatment. My problem is they nickle and dime you on every corner... A regular pedicure is $30, but they hand you a menu card that lists their "spa" pedicures starting at $40 and up to 70, so if you don't know, you'd think that was the basic. Callus remover? That's $10. Once you pick something, they try to up sell to the next one: oh this one is only $10 more... You like your back rub? Want massage? It's a dollar a minute... I really don't like that. BUT it IS the nicest place in the area, and they are very friendly, have the best colors, do a good job, and you get a frequent flier card. :) read more

Serenity is normally a very relaxing experience for me. I go there regularly but yesterday I went for a pedicure and a gel manicure. The young man who did my pedicure and part of the manicure scalded my feet with hot water, and then filed my pinkie finger down so much that it hurt and I flinched and he yelled at me to "stop moving." I do not think this individual should be working at this fine establishment. He lacks interpersonal skills which are necessary in order to service clients at a spa. He was extremely rude. Huge waste of money! So disappointing. I was looking to try a new nail salon and Serenity Nails had a lot of great reviews; I was in the area and decided to give it a try. I came in the late afternoon; the salon was not busy so I was seated right away. When I sat down I was asked which pedicure I wanted; I told my technician I had never been here so he handed me their pedicure menu. The menu had four pedicure options, starting with the least expensive "Spa Pediucure" priced at $40. I thought that was slightly high for a standard pedicure. I Wanted to treat myself, so I upgraded to the "Lemon" pedicure priced at $45. I was excited because it included a 15 foot massage and hot stones. My technician talked to his coworker the entire time and put little effort or attention toward the pedicure. My massage was so terrible; consisting of rubbing my legs with the strength of what a typical five year old could do; He barely touched my aching feet. With 2 minutes left he finally got one hot stone and ran it over my legs two times; he touched one of my feet with it. I know what you are thinking; I should have told him to concentrate on my feet more than my legs; maybe I should have said that, but when you are paying for a foot massage should you really have to ask your technician to rub your feet? When he was finished I was given a complimentary shoulder massage. The reviews had mentioned how wonderful this was. Well, mine was about 30 seconds and again, extremely weak with no effort. After I paid, I sat at the drying station stunned, almost in tears; my aching feet had no relief and I was out $50; such a waste of time and money. I asked the girl sitting next to me if she came here a lot; she said not really due to the fact that she has been disappointed the last few times. We were talking about how expensive it was and she mentioned they offer a basic pedicure for much less, but it is not on their menu so new customers have no idea this is an option. I was so upset! This did not seems like a fair business practice. So I left extremely disappointed knowing I would never return and never recommend Serenity Nails to anyone. read more

Serenity used to be really good. A friendly staff, excellent pedicures, very clean. But it must have changed ownership sometime in the past year. Nobody speaks English, so it is difficult to communicate. It's dirtier now, the TV volume is up too loud, plus the radio is on, too, so it's not a very relaxing atmosphere. But the real downer is that all the men who work there smoke and when they come back from their cigarette breaks, you feel like you're sitting in an ashtray. I tried speaking with my technician about how he was hurting my foot by rubbing it in the same spot over and over and over again, but he didn't understand what I was saying. I came here last week to get my nails down for a formal event. I had a great experience as far as treatment however my nails had small cracks and a baby chip THE NEXT DAY. The event was on a sat and I got my nails down thursday, by mid sat night they were almost ALL CHIPPED. I find this super frustrating and disappointing. They didn't even last a full 3 days so i would say even though it's pretty cheap here it's not worth the money unless you only want nice nails for a day. So sad. read more

I have been going here for years and miss the old staff (previous owners). The new staff constantly talks to their co-workers and when you don't speak the language it feels distracting and a bit uncomfortable. Especially when no one in the salon speaks english! Serenity changed management almost a year ago and is now run by a wonderful woman, Donna. Her salon is clean, modern and always accommodating to whatever needs you have. I'm new to the area and was on the hunt for a new nail salon. Serenity was a pleasant surprise. I went in for a basic manicure which was a little more than I usually pay ($15). They charged me $5 to remove the shellac I had on which is what most places usually charge. Mimi was amazing and very attentive. The basic manicure included a paraffin dip and a neck/shoulder massage so I didn't mind paying a little more than I pay at other places. They have a great selection of colors and are very clean and professional. I will definitely be back to see how their pedicures are. read more

The technician really took his time cleaning up my cuticles unlike most places that just go through the motions. I asked how much and he said 25 instead of 30...and then when he gave change he said he said 29..big deal $1 discount! You would've thought that I was at the drive-through pedicure place, from picking out my color, until payment, I was there 20 minutes! Not only did she use medical gloves that were Two sizes too big, so that every time she "massaged" My legs, As fast as she possibly could, it would pinch my skin!!! When I adjusted my leg or my foot, she grabbed a hold of it and repositioned it to the way she wanted it! When I asked a question regarding my rewards card and payment, she became frustrated and rude because she couldn't understand what I was asking! I WILL NOT go back there for a pedicure, not sure why she works in this type of field if she hates customer service! I started going here years ago when they first opened, it was a very different place! Went way down hill, it's terrible!! I went there after a long day on my feet to relax, instead it was more like a wake up call!!! I only went back because I had credits from along time ago, I will be going to the one in Riverside from now on in The Shaw's Plaza!!! We asked for (and paid for) the basic pedicure but received over-the-top treatments including hot stone massage on our legs and a shoulder and neck massage while letting toes dry. I have been going to serenity for about a year now at the referral of a friend. I love the elegance of the room and the ambiance it gives, and the manicures are pretty well done. I have only ever gotten a gel manicure, but for the most part I have had flawless experiences. The prices are also reasonable (for the gel manicures, at least). They also have UV lamps built into their stations which I find incredibly convenient, just to name a few things. They have an abundance of gel colors to choose from and each gel manicure is accompanied by a nice shoulder/back massage while the last coat dries and then an offer to do the paraffin wax at no cost, and the manicures come out decent. Therefore, I always choose Serenity when I decide to get a gel manicure. The reason I gave 3 stars is because today I had a very rude experience with one of the employees while I brought my sister to get a manicure. After playing with our cash to divide the total, we paid the exact amount. When I started to get up from the chair to stretch my legs and turn to my sister to ask if she had any one's, the man who did her nails began asking, "tip? tip?" followed by a chuckle and another, "don't forget the tip." I threw a 5, since I was so taken back by the close-to-begging gesture, to which he replied, "5 only for me? That's it?". I said, "No, 5 altogether. Thank you", and began to walk out. I understand that the business was clearly very slow, and there was only one other woman in the place aside from my sister and I, but I am shocked by the lack of professionalism I encountered today. Not only was it so rude and socially unacceptable to many, I personally don't want to give money to anyone begging for more from me anyways. A trip to cool off and relax went well until I walked out extremely aggravated. Nobody wants to end their "spa-day" or in my case "spa-hour" like that. I've been going to Serenity Nail Spa for a year now and have almost always had a satisfactory experience. However, the last two times have been not good. Rushed job, rude people, not so great polish. This most recent time, I had made a pedicure appointment for my sister, daughter and I. We arrived on time to a full salon... Not one chair empty. I said to the reception person "why would you not reserve three chairs for an appointment?" All he had to say was "sorry". I'm disappointed and annoyed that I'll now have to find a new salon.
