This is now my go to place here in DFW to get my nails done. I always book with Kelly but all of the nail techs are professional and great at their job. As you can see with my updated pictures there are a progression of simple to more complex. But as I present a variety of different ideas to Kelly, she at least gives it a shot and does her best to recreate something similar. Thank you Kelly!!! I'm pretty basic when comes to nail care, so my pedi wasn't detailed. My tech was nice and did a really good job. For 25 bucks I'm pleased. Came here with a friend a year ago and our experience was fantastic! Great pedi, massage, lots of attention to detail. Unfortunately, my experience today was less than wonderful. The pedi seemed hurried and was rough to the point of being painful at times. The leg massage was not calming or relaxing and also seemed hurried. However, the polish was good and looks nice in spite of one big toenail being cut quite shorter on one foot. I'm convinced that a technician can make or break a salon. I will come back here but will request a different technician because I know that my first experience here was fantastic!! read more

I went in today at around 9:07am for a regular pedicure white tip nothing fancy, I was greeted and was told they could do it no problem(since I didn't have an appointment) I waited about 3 min if that as they where setting the station to get me started the guy that help me was very friendly and he was very attentive as soon as he saw my nails he was impressed that my toe nails were very short (I hate long toe nails, as I sufferer from ingrown toe nails and I recently had surgery on both great toes to get that fit, anyway) He asked me to do acrylic on all toes and I declined as I don't like it on all toes and only on my great toes. He insisted and I agreed. He actually wanted to do tips on all my toes instead of of just acrylic powder. I told him no tips but if he must to just do it on the big toes not on the rest he stated my nails were to short I then told if it was better for him to just do all white he say ok. Well after all he added the acrylic powder on the rest of the toes and painted all white it took him 2hrs to do my nails and well you judge by the pictures. My first experience here work wise was horrible and as a first time client I will not be back also I was charged $60. $25 for pedi and $35 for acrylic if I wanted white tip as I wanted at first it would've been more. I still tip the guy $5 but I hate the final results my great toe on the right it's so thick and I just hate my nails. Now I have to go somewhere else to get them fixed. I have never had a problem with my regular nail tech but she was out of town. I hope this help anyone trying this place for the first time. read more

Do not go to Nahn Thein at Star nail. She was rushing and didn't even shape around my cuticles leaving them for me to fix later on which I can not stand when getting my nails done. I spoke up about the shaping because of this she stopped caring, talking shit and barely put a top coat on and rushed out with her ride who also worked there. Literally slopped on the oil and ripped my sandals off my feet. We discussed my eyebrows and upper lip wax during but after she acted like it wasn't discussed and didn't care about providing the service. Doesn't matter I wouldn't trust her to do that correctly so it was for the best. Overall sloppy work and poor customer service. I almost didn't tip that's how upset I was with her service but I threw a $10 for the guy who did my pedicure. read more

Didn't try to con me into staying! They were crowded when I went in right at 5:00 without an appointment. I asked for a luxury pedicure and a full set of nails with acrylic tips. The nice lady working the front desk looked around and checked her appointments book and told me straight out they wouldn't be able to do both before closing. I can't even begin to say how much I appreciate that honesty. I've been told, in similar situations at other salons, to sit and wait "a little bit" that turned out to be over an hour only to pay full price for a rushed and un-relaxing pedi. At another place I once had my nails done by an angry employee who was forced to stay late by her jerk boss -- very not fun, for either of us. So, I have no idea if Star Nails is a good salon but their management and courtesy are TOP NOTCH! read more

I went for the first time with my mom two weeks ago. My mom got gel and I got dipped powder with faux tips. My nails are beauuuuutiful! The photo I posted is two weeks into having the nails, so they've grown a little bit. Pam was the wonderful lady who did my nails. She was very kind, patient, and polite and her colleagues were very sweet welcoming my mom and I in. She did an ombré dip French tip nails. I love them so much and I can't stop looking at them. I highly recommend her when you come in. She gets in all the nooks and crannies and checks her work and on you to make sure you are pleased with her work. She's a bit fast as well, she moved like a well-oiled machine and glided at the table and with every nail. She's wonderful. The place looked old, and a little run down, the curtains in the front looked a bit dirty. It seems that they would do better with more storage space or shelves. They're equipment looks clean and well-managed. This location seems to hold clientele, because I could definitely tell there were quite a few regulars in there while my mom and I went in. It was comforting to know and see so many regulars come in, it shows that their work is consistent. My mom was very happy with her nail tech as well (I don't remember her name, I'm sorry!). She painted her nails red with a solid white tip. Her nails look like little Santa hats! So cute! She was meticulous with her work as well, very polite and personable, and she did an excellent job on my mom's nails. I highly recommend this place to get your nails done. I don't have a lot to say on "how well of a job they did or didnt do" but I do have my opinion on how they handle business I went in there right when they opened for the first time, showed the lady pictures of my nails in the past how they are designed and how I like them. So she would have an idea of what I wanted when it came time to nail art/polish. After she put the acrylic nails on when I asked for the white tips, I guess I should have been watching her every move, because I was being nosey watching the Olympics when I loooked down she was on the 3rd nail putting the regular acrylic nails. I just went with it and decided that I wanted them to be all painted with designs so I didnt say anything. After she filed them down and did all she needed when it came time to asking me what polish/what I wanted done... she showed me the maybe 15 to choose from which all but maybe 2 were horrible and looked like a 5 year old did them.. I picked the only one I liked, which granted I maybe a little picky but when your spending $40 or more you want to have what you like and what you pay for that's just the principle. She said No, No.. like she couldn't do it. She could only do stripes/lines, and thats not what I was looking for. She then tells me after being there for 45 mins, that the girl/girls that does the designs is NOT in today. WELL I thought it would've been a smart idea for her to tell me that the first 5 mins of me being there rather than telling me at the end when I hated all the crappy designs.. NOT good business..... So I ended up having to go down the street to Galaxy Nails for them to finish the job!! For a first time client, it would've been ok if she said something right at first, I probably would've came back another day...now they lost out on a potential customer, that lives down the street, now I will only take my business elsewhere!! read more

I've been to star nails a total of 3 times. The first 2 were okay experiences, but this last one left me totally unsatisfied. I came in wanting to do my birthday set. The nail tech refused to listen to me even when I was vocal that I wasn't satisfied with my nail shape or nail art. I let her know every step of the way that I wasn't happy with the shape not the decal and she refused to acknowledge the fact that I was dissatisfied she made me pay and overcharged me for a fill and said the earliest they could get someone to fix it was 5 that day after I expressed that I couldn't come in because I had my birthday dinner. They basically rushed me out of the shop saying they could fit me in the next day. I would not recommend going there. I felt like she wasn't listening to me as a client and wanted me out of her chair as soon as possible. I had to drive around to look for another nail salon that could fix it the same day. read more

The lady who did my mani and pedi took her time, told me about their specials which was free seat salt (for the pedicure), I was helped right away and I didn't feel like they were talking about people in their native language. WORST NAIL EXPERIENCE EVER! while the lady was shaping my nails I realized that they was extra long. Don't get me wrong I like my nails long but not crazy long. So when I realized I asked if I could get them a little shorter And the lady told me "No I shaped them already they are cute". Witch blew my mind so I told her again that I don't think I can function with this length. She simply ignored me. Yes I could of been rude and made her do what I wanted and was paying for but that's just simply not me. I figured that I could come back and get them shorter if I truly couldn't function. So I tried the long beasts out for a week and I truly couldn't work with them at all. I'm a hair stylist so my hands are big to me. I end up going back to star nails and I told the lady that greeted me my problem. She turned around and talked to the original lady that did my nails in another language witch was cool with me until she told me that they wouldn't do my nails. Of course I ask why and she said that they all had appointments and couldn't do my nails. Mind you I was willing to wait. I tried to make an appointment for the next day and I requested to get someone new and I get another no. She told me who ever started me has to fix it. After the 3rd no I told her it was ok and that I would go somewhere else. End of my nails journey I went to L.D. Nails 5 min away and Kevin got me in and out in 10 min! This is a great nail spot! I went in on a busy Sunday after calling about 20 minutes ahead and had a very relaxing pedicure and dipped nails and was exceptionally pleased with the quality. I felt like the technician really listened to what I wanted and she took her time despite having plenty of customers waiting for their turn. This is not a fancy place - they won't offer you anything to drink and I didn't receive a massage on my hands once my nails were finished, but I think the $20 I saved coming here versus a lot of nicer/newer salons was well worth it. I'm sure if you visited on a weekday morning when they were less busy, they may pamper you even more - which would turn this solid 4 star into a 5 in my book! read more
