When I went to the dealer, they quoted really high price and added a bunch of unnecessary services. I was able to get an estimate from Vuong which was much more affordable, and it was great to be able to text back and forth to make sure I'm only getting the services I really needed. It was also super easy to make an appointment. They were able to get me in and out in the same day even with all the difference things being done to my car. It was also really convenient that they have after hours dropoff available. You just park your car in their lot, and they have a safe place to drop off your keys. This was helpful because I had some work meetings I had to take in the morning at the time they opened, so I was able to go in before they opened and drop off my car. I enlisted my Dad who owns a dealership in LA to help me find the right Bay Area auto shop. He took the task very seriously and talked to 5+ shops. When he spoke with Martinez Auto Tech, he could instantly tell they were knowledgeable and they gave feedback on what was and wan't necessary for 60,000 mile service. Their prices beat out other local shops as well. When I dropped the car off they were able to take care of everything in one day (spark plugs, oil change, CVT drain and fill, brake flush, rear and front trans axel fluid) for under $1,000. To top it off they were so kind and happy to answer questions along the way. I never felt uncomfortable, unlikely majority of shops I've been to solo as a woman. 5 days later, our VW Golf died and wouldn't restart. I had it towed to their shop while they were closed over the weekend. I called them Monday morning to see if they could figure out what was going on. They were so accommodating and happy to squeeze me in without an appointment. They figured out it was an issue with the alternator and had the car back and running before the day was over. They didn't even charge me for charging up the car since I had just done my Subaru service. I really appreciate a small, local business that values their customers. This was such an act of kindness that I won't forget. Since I needed to get back on the road, I agreed to purchase a replacement tire. Unfortunately, by 4:00 p.m., my vehicle was still sitting in the parking lot and hadn't been brought into the service bay. I had already informed the service advisor that I needed to leave before 5:00 p.m., and I was assured there would be no issue. Yet by 4:23 p.m., my car still hadn't moved.
