Do not take your vehicle to this shop. They are not honest. I took my car in because the check engine light came on. The technician said that the thermostat needed to be replaced, so I authorized the repair. The problem reoccurred within weeks. So I took the car in to the dealer who verified that the thermostat had never been replaced. As a matter of fact, the thermostat was original to my 11 year old vehicle. Was recommended by our friend Peter who owns a great sushi place in Benicia (https://yelp.to/qTKq/XKsuh5mOHT) for service of our VW, saw the other reviews and went there. Terry was great right off the bat. I wanted to drop it off the night before since I had to work before they opened. I expected to call Uber but he dropped me off so he could see how it drove. So we pick it up the next day and it runs great..........but, now the headlights don't work and they worked when we got there. So my wife takes it back a few days later and they find that coincidentally the bulb burned out just as we took it there, and they fixed it no charge. Soooo we take the car home and a couple of days later we drive it and when we come out of the store the whole headlight housing is gone. I'm like WTF. So now you're wondering why the 10 stars? Well I'm glad you asked. So we call up Terry and tell him what happened and he tells us to take it down there. He looks at it and says "no problem, we'll take care of it". WOW, now that's customer service. I'm from old school and when a owner owns up to their mistake without even a second thought and just smiles and says "we got this" then they get a return customer. Sonoma Auto Tech was a lifesaver after my catalytic converter and O2 sensor were stolen off of my Prius, not once, but twice! Pros: -I called the number listed here on Yelp and reached Zee (the owner). Zee was very professional and always easy to contact via text or cell phone. He was very kind and understanding regarding me being a victim of auto part theft. -I had my car towed directly from the scene of the crime to the shop. -Zee is not always on site at the auto shop, but the employees like Terry and others were always available to answer any questions. -Zee and his team helped me communicate with my insurer and facilitated the process of having the adjuster come to investigate and obtaining payment from my insurer. Of note: -There is an auto body shop with almost the same name immediately next to this shop. My adjuster got lost the first time, as she confused Sonoma Auto Tech with the other shop. If you give this address to anyone, make sure you tell them it is NOT the collision shop. -They are not open on Sat/Sun. So, if you get a rental car, make sure you let your insurer know that you cannot pick up the car on Sat/Sun, as the shop will be closed. Overall: I hope I will never get my car parts stolen again but if I did, I would definitely use Sonoma Auto Tech again! Sonoma Auto Tech has to be the BEST autoshop in the Bay Area! Since last November, the engine to my car has been temperamental. I never knew if my engine would want to come alive or stay asleep after turning the key in the ignition. After some Internet sleuthing, I felt that it might be my starter. Next was finding a mechanic shop that could replace the starter. What follows is a glowing review of my experience with Sonoma Auto Tech. I contacted the autoshop on 01/24/2020 through the Request a Quote option on the business' Yelp page. The Request a Quote provides four standard questions about your car and the opportunity to write in your own words what is wrong with your car and what services you are interested in. The estimated respond time says 40 minutes, but I heard back from Faress Z. ( the business owner ) in about 15 minutes! He recommended that I bring the car into the shop as to receive an accurate quote as it was best to bring in my car due to what I was claiming about the starter. This sounded perfectly reasonable and I made my way to the shop. Once there, the men who were working that day had been informed of my impending arrival and knew I was there for my starter. I was greeted with a handshake and a smile as Terry checked over my car. Afterwards, I was told it might be my battery not my starter that was causing my car issues. Here is the best part, the team there was super honest with their opinions about my car and gave me really good advice about how to get my car back in shape. Overall, I was very pleased and happy with the information the Sonoma Auto Tech team provided me.
