I have been a long-time customer of Nathan--originally back when it was C&C Automotive. In the past they were the only ones I trusted. They even put in a new engine and transmission in my 2010 Subaru Forester (my daughter killed the poor thing--long story). Well, about a year ago I took in the Subaru for a diagnosis and hopefully a repair. Unfortunately, their employee, Bryan Macias, gave me false diagnosis of the brakes needing replacement right away. The noise it had been making was due to a problem with the Catalytic converter, but a very high price for replacement. NEXT, THE EMPLOYEE OFFERED TO BUY THE SUBARU FROM ME FOR FAR LESS THAN WHAT I HAD PUT INTO IT FOR A NEW ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. IT WASN'T EVEN FAIR MARKET. Bryan tried to convince me that no one would want to pay more. He also charged me $150. for the "evaluation" even though I am a very good customer who has spent many thousands of dollars there. About a year later I received a reminder email...one of those, little messages that it had been a year, etc. Since I did need to take in my 2022 Honda Civic, I told Nathan what had happened. He was not happy that I had been charged the $150, said that it is tough to keep employees, etc. No offer to refund the $150 (To be fair, I didn't ask). Well, after speaking with him I decided to give them another chance...MISTAKE. I requested that they change the oil and find a leak that was occurring, staining my driveway and garage floor. They changed the oil in the Honda as i requested and called me for pick up. I asked "what about the leak? Oh, they hadn't looked for one. I asked them again to find the leak. They inisted everything was find and no leak existed. I am not crazy. It wasn't water/condensation, and it was staining my garage floor and driveway. Took the Honda to a Honda dealership for a recall, and the dealership found the leak, no problem. It was also still under warranty (within 100 miles of it). GREAT! Now, do I think Nathan does good work, probably. Is he honest? I believe so. Does he have good employees, NO. NO. NO. The Shop is no longer what it was. Very unfortunate. read more

I am a huge fan of the folks at The Shop. We've been bringing our cars to these fellas for years and the work is always thorough and such a value. Most recently I had a quote from a dealership for a 60k service on my Subaru, and the dealer quote was just SO MUCH, we called Nate to see what they'd charge. Spoiler, it was way way WAY more reasonable. I brought the car in, they did the work in a single day, explained exactly what was due and what they had done, and out the door for less than half the dealer quote. I bought four "new" tires from them in November 2022. Since then I've had constant problems and had to replace all 4 tires since over the last year. They said they were good quality tires but clearly they had deteriorated significantly while sitting in their shop for years. I do not recommend. read more

I have always taken my vehicles to C&C Auto. I have recommended them to many people. However, after the last service we received. The work they did is completely unacceptable. I thought these guys were professionals, but I guess I was wrong... We have a 1976 Dodge RV that we have been bringing in to C&C Auto. Recently we had them replace our radiator. We purchased a $560.00 Radiator and paid C&C Auto to install it. They installed it for us on Aug 31st and we picked up our RV on September 1st, 2017. Over the weekend the RV was still overheating. (I know now that our RV was overheating due to the smoke we kept seeing coming from the same spot) On September 5th; we decided it was necessary to bring our RV back in to C&C Auto after hearing a pop noise. We wanted to make sure everything was OK before we left for our trip.. As soon as we pulled over we saw smoke. My Fiance and I let Ben know about the pop noise and the smoke. He said he would look into it at the end of the day... so we waited. (Not a problem) When he finally got around to checking the RV he told us that everything looked good, that the radiator was working, nothing was wrong. He said he didn't see any smoke. I asked him about the popping noise and he said he wasn't sure what the pop noise was... We explained to him that we were going to be hitting the road, traveling a long distance so we wanted to make sure everything was OK before we go. He said he completely understood and re-clarified that he didn't know what it could be because everything looks good to him. He even went as far as saying he would drive it if it was him. Who am I to question the mechanic? I am not a mechanic... My fiance and I came to the conclusion that we were just being too paranoid, but man were we wrong... We hit the road September 5th and on September 7th, 2017. While we were on the HWY we started hearing very loud and chaotic noises. Everything happened so fast... All of the sudden we heard a violent bang as coolant splattered all over our windshield. White smoke started spewing out and we had to pull over on the side of the HWY. To make a long story as short as possible, we found a mechanic in Littlerock CA. (R & D Automotive) He asked me if the thermostat was changed when the radiator was replaced. He explained to us that is something that should have been done when the radiator was replaced. I had no idea, so I called Ben at C&C Auto to ask him if by chance he replaced the thermostat. He said no, but told me that if we would have brought it back to C&C Auto that's what he would have checked, so it sounded like we were in good hands... When I got off the phone the mechanic (Pete) at R&D Automotive told us that our radiator blew. Coolant was leaking all over. As he was about to take out the radiator he noticed it wasn't even mounted. The entire radiator was ZIP TIED and not only that the mounts on our brand new radiator were cut off. Pete was able to take the radiator out of our RV with a pair of scissors... He told us that he would be embarrassed to allow us to leave his shop with a zip tied radiator and that you should only do something like that for a temporary fix... He also told us that within 4 months or so the zip ties could end up breaking from the heat. He said the radiator could have eventually fallen out in due time... C & C AUTO THAT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. And to top of it all off we found out that the motor mounts we also had C&C Auto replace are sagging. It's causing the engine to hang low to the ground and the oil pan is sitting on the cross mount. It shouldn't be... I left a message for Ben and Nathan at C&C Auto and also sent them an email regarding this situation... I told them I would give them the opportunity to rectify the situation with a refund, but obviously they are not going to do that. They didn't call me back. Just goes to show how much they care about customer service. Unfortunately, due to the poor quality work I have no choice, but to contact BAR. I really hope no one else ever has to go though what we did. We purchased another radiator ($600) and we had Pete at R&D Automotive install it. It was the same exact radiator we had before and Pete mounted it on- no zip ties necessary. We also got a new thermostat. Ours was shut closed... something C&C Auto should have noticed/ replaced. 1 star for C&C Auto and 5 stars for PETE at R & D AUTOMOTIVE. We finally made it to our destination all thanks to him... PS: Yes we brought the motor mounts in ourselves, but Ben confirmed they were the right ones... Shouldn't you guys know more than us? Your the mechanic... as for being apprehensive- maybe Nathan YOU felt that way but Ben sure didn't reiterate that. read more

Awesome customer service!!! So Thursday morning I found a nail in my car before I left for work. Pretty salty to say the least but I had a feeling it might not be as bad as I thought it was with the way it looked in the tire. Checked it throughout the day and the pressure was thankfully still solid. After work I was scrambling to get my car somewhere to get this patched, when I thought..."Hey I should check C and C. They still might be open." This was a little after 4 mind you. I called and Ben answered. Which I need to mention that he always answers the phone with such a kind yet professional tone. I asked how the wait was right now since I know they would be closing within the hour. He gave me the bad news and let me know that they are a little busy. He then out of curiosity asked what it was for. I told him my story of how I found the nail in my tire this morning and instantly..."Bring it in. We'll take care of you." Lifesaver. I get there an turns out the nail was so small that it barely punctured anything. They ran a water test and everything looked fine after. I stood at the counter with so much relief as he told me the good news. "Have a nice day!!" What? Confused that I hadn't handed him any moolah I asked him, "So...I don't owe you anything...?" Ben shakes his head and replies, "We didn't do any work. Don't worry about it!" Awesome customer service. Need I say more? read more

I'm a cute chick, and even though I know a bit about cars (thanks Dad), I'm still nervous going into a mechanic shop alone for fear of getting hustled. My neighbor told me about this place and I couldn't have been more pleased. These guys know their stuff. They are honest, upfront, no hidden anything. Recently, (In the dead of winter with rain coming down) the heater in my Jeep stopped working. I was freezing! I put in a call and I was treated like I was important by both Amber & Nathan. I recently started working on my car again and discovered what C&C botched on my car. I should have written this a while ago. My thermostat was caked with blue rtv or some other kind of sealant instead of just using the right gaskets. Did not look pretty seeing the goop in my engine bay, and was it a fucking mess trying to clean it up when I removed the thermostat to install a water temperature sender. I used the right gaskets and it didn't leak at all. I also had my transmission fluid changed here. I told them the oil in the shifter turret is separate from the transmission fluid that is filled from the bottom of the car. They argued and said they had never heard of that. I rebuilt my shifter recently and of course, the oil in the shifter turret smelled like ass and looked like cream of mushroom soup. They definitely did not change it. Also, I almost forgot. I brought my car in for overheating issues (this was when the filled my thermostat with blue rtv).When I got it back it was still overheating (although not as bad as before). After troubleshooting I had to change the radiator cap which solved my issue. I don't know why the shop didn't test the cap!!! read more

They have never tried to add extras because I'm a female, they are very honest and reliable. I went in with my Toyota Tacoma. It's been intermittently loosing compression. I couldn't get it to repeat the poor performance but I took it in for them to look at anyway. They spent an hour inspecting it and running diagnostics on it but they couldn't identify the problem. I wasn't really surprised as I still can not get it to repeat the problem consistently. I was pleasantly surprised however when the didn't charge me for the 1hour diagnostic which I had agreed to pay when I took it in. They tried hard and were honest with me. Once the issue with my truck develops into a consistent issue I will be back to C&C. They've earned my business. I've since been back many times and have received good service at fair prices. read more

They don't keep electronic records which can bite you later. You have to keep receipts of all work done in case there is a warranty issue later. You have to keep up with the scheduled preventative maintenance. Also, on numerous occasions, I told them I wanted them to look around for issues and keep the car in good running condition. Last week my car broke down on the highway because it needed a tune-up that would have prevented this. I had to have it towed to my new mechanic (Joe's Automotive in Benicia) who will replace all the spark plugs wires, spark plugs, leaky gasket and get the oil out of the cylinder. C & C should have spotted this BEFORE it broke down on the highway. That's what I asked them to do and why I chose them. The mechanics do good work and the prices are fair. read more

Mechanics are like dentists. It's hard to find a good one and you're willing to drive to keep one you like. C&C auto is the good dentist, but even more of a bonus is I work right nearby. I brought my car in for a clutch replacement. They did a bang-up job on it and had it back to me in the same amount of time the job is scoped for. They're not the cheapest, but far from the most expensive, especially when you factor in the 'paying for stuff you dont need from other mechanics' aspect. I'd much rather pay a bit more for honest, competent work than go somewhere else and take it up the tailpipe. read more

Very impressed with C and C. I have always had bad luck with auto shops. My truck had vapor coming out of the tailpipe. My friend recommended C and C. So they did some tests on it, but the issue had stopped and appears to be intermittet. There is nothing worse and more frustrating (and potentially more expensive) than an intermittent problem. Nathan (I think his name was) gave me a few options and explained the worst case. He recommended not to do anything yet and explained to me how to self troubleshoot and to call him with any findings. He didnt even charge me for the time he spent or the top off! Very honorable first impression and good character! read more
