I walked in to Star Mazda last Friday and drove out with a new car. Ron Hudson was my Sales Consultant and was absolutely professional, knowledgable and friendly. I greatly appreciated his candor and positive attitude. I also want to shout out Don McCurdy, the Finance Manager who was extremely helpful. This was the best sales experience I have had in a long time. If you are considering a Mazda, or just a good deal on an excellent vehicle don't hesitate to go to Star Mazda in Glendale. read more

I had such great service the first time that I had to come back to Star Mazda for my next service and will continue to be a life long customer! Thanks to David G., he explains what's needed for your service and is honest to not try and up sell you unnecessary items like other places would do. Thank you David for being a Star, and the wait time was pleasant in their inviting lobby/wait area, also for Mr. Wells for being so attentive to everyone that comes in through their service drive making it a fun and relaxing environment to come in for your Mazda needs! read more

From the moment I walked in Star Mazda, I was welcomed in a professional & graceful manner; I'd a test drive appointment with Kylie Groom on Oct/2016 and the moment I met him we started discussing various options of the 2017 Mazda 6, from buying or leasing to the differences between the sport/Touring/Grand Touring; it became more clear what my choices were, so this past Wednesday on 1/4/17 I was able to close on a lease deal for the 2017 Mazda 6 Touring in Deep Blue Crystal, but it was all thanks to Kylie Groom; not to mention that during the DMV registration process in the dealership David was very helpful & professional thus providing an explanation for what each document was for, and left has a Happy customer & great car, thank you Kylie Groom for your professionalism & Experience read more

Scam artists. Thought I'd take my car in to the dealers for major maintenance because who would do it better than the dealer, right? Rrriight... Would have been better off doing NOTHING but a regular oil change. Same exact result, but without the $600 bill, the hassle, the wait, the unending spam mail and getting lied to repeatedly about the work "done" by a supposedly reputable dealer. This scum will see not a penny from me ever again. 0 stars. Even the name is B.S... missing the 0 in front. read more

Wonderful service. Mike, the service manager, is the best. I made the mistake of going to the Mazda dealership on Culver City because it was a little closer to my home last week. They gave me incorrect information, and blamed my issue on work done at Star Mazda. When I took the car back to Star Mazda they immediately addressed my issue. There was nothing wrong with their original work. Culver City Mazda blamed my heat blower problem on the faulty installation of a cabin air filter. This was not the case. A new blower motor was needed. Star Mazda ordered the part for me immediately and put it in within days. Since this was a warranty repair, it cost me nothing and my heater works perfectly. I will continue driving a little further to get quality service where everyone is friendly and courteous. read more

Came VERY close to purchasing a car from this dealership. Ultimately decided on another car, but during my deliberations I was very well looked after by my sales associate Mike Mccain. Mike was patient and honest, and I never felt like I was being pressured or hurried along in my process. When I told Mike that I was going to move on from the Mazda I was considering, he was gracious and understanding. I would not hesitate to purchase from him in the future. read more

Fist car ever purchased from a dealership. I found the car on the internet and thought it might be too good to be true. After looking at prices from other dealerships I decided to call Star Mazda because they seemed to have better deals than everything I was looking at. I talked to Greg Moss who was pleasant and non intimidating. Upon arrival Greg was delightful and accommodating. He made buying a car easy. The car was exactly what was advertised including the price which also came with a great maintenance program as well as roadside assistance and other amenities that I did not expect. Greg did not pressure me to buy anything extra. Although I had financing through my bank I was impressed with Star Mazda's offer. Kudos to Greg and Star Mazda. read more

It was time to get a new car and I was glad I did. I made an appointment the day before just for a test drive and the salesman John Smith (yes that's his name) was very helpful. I didn't feel the pressure that most people complain about when they walk into a dealership. John was hands off and allowed me to go through my thought process. Everyone at this dealership was so personable. I ended up walking out with a brand new 2016 Mazda3 that I'm really happy with. Since my old car was also a Mazda they gave me a $500 loyalty credit which, with my modest down payment, lowered my monthly payments. It was one of the better experiences I've had so far this year. If you're looking to drive the #1 sport vehicle on the road go see John and his team at Glendale Mazda. P.S. - full disclosure: I do not work for Mazda ;). They just have great cars read more

To start, I've played the dealership game before and did my online homework before going in to purchase a car at Star Mazda. I think 3/4 of the battle is doing your research in advance and taking an opportunity to check out or test drive your desired car elsewhere before you go into the dealership for a final sale. It also helps if you are able to go in and purchase outright with cash or check and not go the financing route. Those factors made my purchasing experience from this dealership quite painless. I did an Edmunds True Price request on the internet and one of the first dealerships to respond to that request was Star Mazda. Salesman, John Smith, sent a very low-pressure e-mail saying he had got my request and was available for any questions or if I wanted to stop by the dealership .... nice! He adjusted his schedule based on my intended arrival time at the dealership and had a test drive car ready for me. The test drive was long and covered several different driving scenarios. What was nice about John is that he realized I knew cars, that I had done my homework, and didn't need an oversell of the car. He answered my questions and pointed out features about the car when it was relevant. His experience as a salesman saved me from the rookie salesman mistake of immediately asking, "So, does this seem like a car you want to buy ... now?" No pressure. I was ready to purchase that evening and knew they had what I wanted in their inventory, so it was me who initiated the negotiation. "Negotiation" isn't really the word to use because using the Edmunds True Price estimate, you don't get much room to negotiate. I checked with other dealerships ahead of time and knew they were asking the same price as Star Mazda, so I had some confidence that the price was actually True. What John had mentioned to me was that people who go through Edmunds or Costco and do their pricing on the internet come into the dealership to not play 'the game'. I did try to negotiate for a lower price, but the sales manager that evening was having none of it. Usually you can work with a dealership to reduce the price further or throw in an accessory (Toyota did that for me). I got nothing out of the 'negotiation', but do have to mention they tried to pull the $99 charge for nitrogen-filled tires on me. I was quite offended by that after making it clear I knew how to buy a car and wasn't a sucker. I flat-out refused that add-on that they put in the first offer and finally got a price that was accurate. Despite the unmoved sales manager, John got me the car I wanted and went out of his way to ensure I got a car with low miles on it (not a test driver). Both he and the Finance Manager, Stephen, stayed past the 8:00 closing time on a Friday night to finish the purchase of the car (I wasn't surprised, but was grateful for them staying late so we could finish the deal). Unlike other salesmen I've encountered, John Smith seemed trustworthy and that went a long way in me buying the car from Star Mazda. I recommend that anyone looking to buy a Mazda from here go online first and start a dialogue with John to get him as your salesman. I have yet to see how final details will wrap up with the DMV getting my information from the dealership correct, first service check-up for the car, etc. So, the jury is still out on that. If you're looking for a low-pressure place to buy a Mazda, head on over to Star, but do your homework in advance. read more

Let me start by saying that it is very rare that I ever feel compelled to write reviews on yelp. The service has to either be really bad or outstanding. Star Mazda is the latter. Israel was the most helpful salesman I've ever encountered while in the process of shopping for a car. I walked in with a firm price range and he showed me amazing options with features that still fit in my budget. I was so pleased that I ended up signing a lease for a 2018 Mazda 3 that day!!!! thanks so much to the wonderful people of Star Mazda for making this process so smooth and enjoyable. read more

Ron Hudson is the best!!!! I finally had to go purchase a vehicle and my boyfriend thoughtfully decided that Glendale was the best place to go test drive at a bunch of dealerships in the same vicinity. It kind of felt a lot like speed dating everytime we had to go into a dealership, introduce ourselves and explain what I was looking for. It was a 90+ degree heat wave and we were exhausted. Lot of pushy salesmen and the test drives were not memorable. I was ready to throw in the towel. However, going into Star Mazda was like an oasis of cool and calm, and Ron was there in his straw hat to help us out. He was not pushy at all and just wanted to find the right vehicle for me. He made us laugh, connected with my boyfriend in sports talk, and kept telling me to feel the zoom-zoom in the Mazda3. After a week and a second test-drive, I decided to purchase the Mazda3 Touring in silver from Ron- my very own first car. I'm in love and I'm so grateful that Ron helped me find it. We even took a picture together at the end, and I'm so happy I got to meet such a wonderful person! The entire dealership made the purchasing process really smooth and were so accomodating even when they had to stay late to help me finish the paperwork and signing. Also, Ron told me to buy a powerball ticket the day I first test-drove the Mazda3... because he said I might win because of beginner's luck. Unfortunately, I am not a billionaire but I am now a proud owner of a Mazda3. :) read more

I came here to have my car serviced for the "Free healthcare oil change and cleaning". I was told by one of the workers that "it's not a detail but they will clean your car very well". I waited five hours for my car and by the time I got my car back, it was only driven through a car wash and barely wiped down. The car was mostly dripping wet when I got it back. It was so dirty inside and out. No vacuuming, and nothing wiped down inside and out. I practically got my car back in the same condition that I brought it. I was super disappointed as their advertising was false. I spent five hours of my day waiting to have a clean car back and I had a 12hr nightshift right after. I was also bummed because I was so excited that Mazda was offering this for healthcare workers. I thought it would be a nice gift as I've been working nonstop with covid patients in the ICU and I had not had time to thoroughly clean my car and places are closed right now to do so. Felt disappointed in their service for healthcare workers. read more

My husband and I recently brought a Mazda 3 from Star Mazda, where we were helped by Israel Espino. Besides liking the car, we appreciate the low-pressure approach. Israel told us about the features of the cars we tried and was relaxed and informative. He gave us plenty of time to explore the cars ourselves. We came back multiple times to try the Mazda 3 (often shortly before closing; we get out of work late), and we felt we had the space and time to make a good decision. And we're loving the new car! read more

I had a mixed, but mostly bad experience here. Everything was good at first, but when I actually showed up to buy the car, the terms I had thought were very clear on the phone started changing. I wanted to get the process over with, so I was going to buy from them anyway. Once they figured out that I had accepted my fate, and that I probably wasn't going to bolt, they dropped the bomb that other things they had promised wouldn't be true. Finally, I left and went to Galpin Mazda, where they actually honored the terms they'd given me. I'm so glad that I left Star Mazda and didn't put up with their bait-and-switch tactics! I wanted to buy a 2012 Mazda2. I called and asked for their best price, and after some negotiation they actually gave me a pretty good starting price. Definitely call, and get what they tell you IN WRITING, but use that call and/or the quote you get from them and take it elsewhere, to a place that will treat you well and not try to hoodwink you. read more

Review of Star Mazda Sales: I just returned home with a new Mazda 3 iTouring Hatchback from Star Mazda. I'm very pleased with the responsiveness and attitude of the staff. The sales guy I dealt with, Greg, really jumped on it right away when I first started contacting dealers (for various brands) and was the first to respond and kept in touch regularly. He dug up the specific model and trim I was looking for (even though I was looking for a 2013 model to save money, which aren't that readily available now since the 2014s are out) by making a deal with another dealer. In contrast, one of the other Mazda dealers I contacted just sent me a short email saying "sorry, no 2013s, if you want a 2014 we can do that, let us know". When I got to the dealership to finalize things, the price was actually lower than I had expected because his original quote had included the destination fee, which I thought would be added on to the quote. Additional fees were normal and exactly what I expected ($80 documentation fee, which is what is allowed in CA, Sales tax, registration fees) with no unexpected "tricky stuff" put in, no attempts at charging "ad fees" or "floor space" fees or any of that. He and the other person I dealt with there were not too pushy, either. They did offer and explain extended warranty options, etc. but didn't push it. They even beat my two pre-approved financing rates (one from my bank and one from an online lender) by a little bit, so I ended up financing through them as well. After waiting a day or two for them to acquire the vehicle I wanted (during which time Greg kept me apprised of the status), I went there and was in and out in about 2.5-3 hours, which is not too bad considering that included taking a short additional test drive, dealing with all the paperwork, getting financing set up, them washing the vehicle, etc. I haven't bought a new car in quite a long time, and I was expecting it to be a rather terrible experience, based on my past experience and what some other folks go through when buying a new car. Although buying a new car is a generally stressful experience, dealing with Star Mazda was really pretty great. read more

I have nothing but great experiences with these guys. I just leased a new 2014 Mazda 6 from Aaron at Star. My previous Mazda 6 was done through a broker and happened to come from this dealership. Given that it wasn't too far away, I went there for maintenance (oil changes). My service guy Willie has always been fantastic. He tells me it'll be a certain amount of time and it always is less than that. The last time I was in, I approached Aaron in sales and told him my lease was almost up. He gave me his card and was super helpful, telling me to call him when I was ready. I did indeed call Aaron. I told him over the phone what I wanted (stick - which is somewhat rare) and what I would be willing to pay. When I came in at the preset time, he ran the numbers and got me the numbers I said I could do. There was no attempt to upsell me to a different model and/or options and no BS. Very knowledgeable and didn't have that showy BS dealer / game show host demeanor. I will definitely lease my next car from Star Mazda. read more

I was unexpectedly in the market for a car last month and am so glad I included Star Mazda in my search. I did a lot of dealer site browsing plus multiple lot visits. I ended up getting the CX-5 after an individual test drive and additional appointment so I could bring my wife in. Do not buy or lease a car without checking STAR MAZDA and specifically Kyle Groom. First time I tried to make a deal with Star Mazda was in 2005. I got a great internet price for a Mazda 3, only to be told after I got there that the quote they gave me was an error and they were deeply sorry for the confusion. Ofcourse I got another quote from another dealer for just a few hundred dollars more, but somebody already got the vehicle because I didn't commit with them on time. Because of this experience, I didn't consider Star in 2008 when I was shopping around for a Mazda 5. I bought my 5 thru Browning Mazda in Cerritos. But since I live in Glendale, I decided to have my car serviced thru Star Mazda. 30k miles, I had a knocking sound from the front suspension. I had Star take a look at it. Willie told me I may need a transmission inspection and charged me $100++ to do a transmission check. I told Willie, the service guy, that I think the problem was with the suspension. But he thought of otherwise, so I paid Star for transmission inspection only to be told what I already knew...Transmission was not the problem - and the knocking sound was still there. I searched online and got a hold of a Mazda Service bulletin regarding suspension bushings, a common problem with Mazda 5s. It took me awhile to bring the car back, although there was a knocking sound, the car drove great. I brought the car back to Star after 3 months and told Wilie that the problem is still there. He suggested another transmission inspection, which I declined. Told him its the suspension and showed him the service bulletin printout. We drove the car around the lot with a technician, and surprise - the knocking sound didn't sound a bit! After I got back to Willie, told him there really was a problem and its more evident in the morning after a cold start. I specifically asked Willie if I can just buy the bushing, and he said I can't buy the bushing itself, and I may need to get the suspension repaired and these will cost me upwards of $1000bux. Take a friggin hike! Went home frustrated, and called Star Mazda Parts Dept. the following day. Service bulletin had the part number for the bushing, so I ordered for the part. Bushing was $7, and installation from a trusted mechanic cost me $30. I had another problem with the Engine mount, but I was so pissed from dealing with Star Mazda, that I just ordered for the parts and had my mechanic install them. I later found out from Browning Mazda that there was a service bulletin regarding the Engine mounts. If I had the bushings and Engine mounts done thru Browning, it wouldn't have cost me anything. read more

I would give this place negative stars if I could. I was referred here by a family friend and even met the CEO who is a nice man & said he would take care of us. Worked with younger James at first who is very nice and explained things, then got switched to older James and the other sleazeball Rodney. The most dishonest men I've ever met. Ran my credit and my co-signers credit without signatures or permission, gave us a price that was more than the MSRP, had me sign a disclosure but then copied my signature to another paper on a payment plan; and said that it was the best deal they had. When I said I needed one night to think about it, the next day I said I had questions and felt very misinformed and they immediately turned very hostile and just downright unprofessional. I would never recommend anyone waste their time here. Go running towards Galpin Mazda which is as transparent as they can be with their process and they gave me a price $2,000 lower than msrp. read more

Stay away from this place at all costs unless you want to be ripped off. I brought my mazdaspeed 3 here because the engine was misfiring at high rpms. After waiting around an hour for the diagnostic I was told that just because of a misfire i would need new injectors a new intake manifold gasket installed along with that my motor mount was broken and to top it off that my engine would need to be cleaned out all for the low price of 3500 dollars! (Not including labor costs). I almost laughed an told him that i believed it was the spark plugs and that i would like new ones installed and that was it. The guy looked at me like i was an idiot that i wouldnt let them rip me off and insisted that i come back an talk to the mechanic myself. I refused and asked again for them to do what i asked. Not only did this piss me off but after the conversation was over a lady that overheard us came up to me saying that they tried saying her motor mount was broken too on her brand new car! After getting the plugs switched my check engine light went off and the problem was fixed just as i expected. And it doesnt end here... I then took my car to our families trusted mechanic (who also is the head mechanic at the local subaru dealership) just to make sure what they told me was really bullshit. With great surprise every single thing they said needed to be fixed was a LIE. We checked every single thing that star mazda claimed to be broken and everything was fine the motor mount was perfectly fine my gasket was not leaking and my injectors were running flawlessly and after we plugged it into his computer to check for any codes being tripped to indicate a need for the engine to be cleaned there was again nothing wrong. The most grossly incompetent car place I've ever entered. I bought my car in San Diego and the Culver City location closed so I was looking for a new dealership. Don't waste your time, go to Galpin. I made an appointment for the earliest time slot, around 7 a.m. and made it on time. They disregarded my appointment time, and processed all the men before me. I warned them that my car alarm is a passive arm system. I ended up paying an extra day of rental car because the mechanic, who admitted he did it because he was hung over, locked my keys in my car and they didn't begin working on it for several hours. I went back out to check on why things were taking so long to get going and caught the guys talking smack about me because I'd asked why my car alarm was going off for several minutes (after the idiot had locked my keys in it and they tried to get in). I asked for a valet key and they gave me a duplicate of my master key. They lost my estimate/contract and had to copy mine when I returned. My worst retail experience, ever.
