I went yesterday to look for a car at Star Mazda and was greeted by Ron Hudson who showed me the car I came to see and then another car that he thought I'd be interested in. Being that it was my first time buying a new car he made the whole experience very easy and I would recommend Star Mazda to all my friends and family. Thank you Ron for making a potentially stressful situation a rather pleasant one! read more

Had a great experience buying my car here! Abiel and John were my salesmen and were both really kind and accommodating and didn't put any pressure on me to get something fast. Had great experiences with the service department too. read more

Experience buying the car 4 stars; and experience with service 0 stars. I would recommend buying a car here; but not servicing it here. First the positive: my buying experience was mostly pleasant and easy. The first negative of the buying experience was that I should have been given a CARFAX history report before I bought the vehicle and done my negotiations. And after I had negotiatedI wasn't given this and before I walked out I signed a sheet of what I received - including the auto history report which I didn't check carefully, and stupidly signed. Buyer beware - get your CARFAX report for the car you want to negotiate on before you negotiate. Second negative was the finance lady who became increasingly unpleasant as I declined the extended warranty and other BS they try to sell you. But the Sales Person and the manager were pleasant and easy to deal with. The Service Manager told me I needed an oil change that I didn't need on my newly purchased auto. I asked him when the last oil service was and he responded with the mileage of the last service, which had only been about 20 miles of the mileage at purchase, (I had driven the care only a few hundred miles since purchase). I had initiated the call, since I wasn't sure that an oil change may not have been done as part of the certified inspection, and didn't want to have failure to change the oil on time affect the warranty. When I pointed out this to the service manager (on the phone) he responded the the oil change was done 4 months before (true) and therefor recommended a new oil change. (I didn't know that oil in oil cans had an expiration date; or that oil that is sitting around no lubricating moving parts as the care was barely driven before I bought it got dirty). I called the service manager back to confirm that my car needed an oil change at that point, and he said that's what he recommended. Immediately after (2 or 3 minutes later ) I called the service manager again to cancel my appointment for an oil change telling him "that just doesn't compute", and he replied "well, I've been doing this for 20 years and that's what we recommend." (My advise is to be careful when someone has to resort to this kind of argument). What he said did not make sense to me because (a) I could not believe Star Mazda did not do an oil change on a newly purchased/ certified vehicle (that turned out to be true because the car hadn't been driven more than about 20 miles in that 4 month period to the date of purchase. I got the CARFAX report which confirmed that the car had an oil change approx. 4 months before purchase they did in about 4 months previously and with only about 20 miles difference from the date of purchase; and (b) he told me that he recommended an oil change every three or four months. I checked the Mazda manual and this was not so stated in the Mazda manual. The CARFAX report indicated that the next previous service had been done at this same dealership over 10,000 miles before the mileage before the mileage at purchase - that was the 1st service and the 2nd service had been done about 20 miles before the date of purchase). I am unfortunately left with the conclusion that the service manager either was not truthful, or that he can't read his own service reports, or that he tried to manipulate me into his shop for an extra maintenance that I did not need or a combination of these. {And I am left asking myself, if he would do that, what repairs might he tell me I needed that were unnecessary]. I have the further impression, based on the CARFAX report that the car was not properly maintained at the dealership, though the service manager had told me it should be serviced every three thousand miles [as I recollect]. I did not read the reviews of the service department on yelp until after I had this experience; but even taking only other reviews into consideration, I wouldn't have service done at Star Mazda. There are too many red flags for me to risk it. Because of this apparent deceit, (and I will use the word 'apparent' just in case there is some other possibility I overlooked, which I honestly do not think is the case), Star Mazda will never see me in their shop for service or repair. That's it for me. My conclusion as regards their service department is "Stay Away!" read more

After a horrible experience at Galpin Mazda, I decided to give Mazda a second chance and visit Star Mazda. I was immediately greeted and brought to the vehicle I described that I was interested in buying. Norm was a great salesman and was not pushy or overbearing, as many car salesmen are. He listened to what I wanted and delivered. Paul was also amazing in making the deal. Rubin sealed the deal. They have a great team at Star Mazda. If you're in the market to buy a Mazda, go see Norm!! Thanks, Star Mazda!! read more

First of all, I want to thank Greg Moss of Star Mazda; he made the process of buying a new car incredibly easy and painless. My girlfriend and I had been searching for a Mazda 3 hatchback for the better part of the year, used or new, and Greg worked with our needs/budgetary constraints in order to get us the new car that we wanted! We are very thankful for the assistance, diligence and accessibility that he offered throughout the entire process of our purchase. Greg is the man! What's more, until we were able to get the parking situation squared away at our apartment building (we wanted to have a safe and secure spot to park our new beauty), the guys at Star Mazda were kind enough to let us borrow one of their loaners for a couple of weeks. In fact, we were rolling in style with one of their sweet CX7s. Finally, I must say that we are both incredibly pleased with our awesome new ride. It was a very big decision for us to purchase a new vehicle, and we were definitely hesitant/leery of working with a dealership in LA, but we are both tremendously satisfied with the outcome. Thanks to Star Mazda and Greg Moss for helping to get us into our Mazda 3! read more

This is a review of my experience leasing a mazda. This was my first experience leasing a car after moving to Los Angeles from brooklyn. I started my search at mazda and after 2 days and 7 dealerships I ended my journey there secure knowing I got the best possible deal. The attitude of every person I encountered was positive, I specifically spoke with three salesmen: Marc Castro, Orlando Jaimes, and Eddie. They were always helpful, and knowledgable gentlemen. When considering the mazda 3 I wanted to fully understand the bluetooth function and Eddie gave me a full tutorial, I ended up getting that car so now my phone is already connected with Eddie's help Once I leased the car, Orlando drove it to me himself (they deliver within a 12 mile radius!) I've had to contact them on their personal cell phones since leasing the car to make sure I have all the info I need for my insurance company and they always pick up, Marc has been especially helpful in that capacity. They take the weird vibes out of car shopping and talk to you like a real person. I'll definitely go back there! read more

Greg Moss, in sales, is the GREATEST! I did my homework, went to a number of dealers, test drove a bunch of cars and ultimately went with the Mazda CX5. But having been handled by several salespeople at different dealership the only one who impressed me was Greg Moss. He was patient with all my questions, didn't pressure me, let me take all the test drives (and time) I needed and in the end worked with me to get the best price possible. He was sensitive to the fact I don't like to wait around much and had all the ducks in a row when the time finally came to pull the trigger. Yesterday I drove my NEW CAR home very very happy. And I'm still thanking Greg Moss in my heart. He made a nerve wracking decision easy as pie. Star Mazda is lucky to have him on their sales force. read more

This review is for sales. Had been to may different dealerships and had terrible experiences. We were surprised when we were treated fairly and openly. Dealt with the General manager and Nick a salesman, both very friendly and willing to work with us. The dealership was closed by the time we organised financing so we were driven to Ford and finished it there. The financing guy (can't remember his name) was very straightforward too. We came away happy and with what I feel was a fair deal for all parties. read more

The last time I came in -- for oil change and an inspection -- Star Mazda told me my car needed $1,700 worth of repairs. I got the oil change, and brought the car in to a highly rated local shop for a second opinion on the rest. The shop said only one of the items on Star's list ($360) was actually necessary, and the rest was fabrication. Star also wanted to charge me over $100 to diagnose a separate issue, which the shop would diagnose for no charge. On top of this, it took an extremely long time to get out of Star Mazda on that last visit; they had a new computer system, which apparently no one knew how to use efficiently. It was almost comical how long it took them to apply my coupon for the oil change, get the invoice generated, and finally get me out the door. Never going back. read more

I usually get helped by the Service Rep Nathon, he is real helpful and friendly. However, since he was with another client today another Service Rep Gary helped me. I totally did not like the way he spoke to me. When I was telling him the issues of my car, he was totally mocking me and was giving me a feel like "yeah right you have those issues with your car". I know the way I was explaining the issue did not sound professional, I am not a mechanic that knows all parts of the cars. I can only explain it the best I can from what I hear and see. I told him there were squeaky sounds from the rear suspensions, to check the alignment and the Recall etc. He did not even let me finish speaking, he answered " the alignment is checked automatically ". Also, it will take at least 3 to 4 hours to check the issues I had told him because they can not " reproduce the issue now" , like it is my fault I can not bring it in when the rear is making the squeaky sound. Since he said it will take that long, I went home first. You know what, he called me 30 min later to tell me the car is ready for pick up in 30 min!! You know what the worst part is, I had specifically told him to check the alignment and it was not checked when I went to pick up the car. I had to ask him about it before he even remembered it. Guess what, the alignment was off so I had to wait there for an hour to have it done. I usually don't write reviews, but this Rep made me feel so disrespected. He is a lot older than me, but I am still the customer!!! Make sure you do not get helped by him when you go in for any service. read more

Went in on Sunday 4/24 to look at a lease deal on a CX5 for the wife. Our salesman Brian Bautista politely asked if we were helped out already. We proceeded to tell him exactly what we were looking for, took a test drive and went to the tables to negotiate a deal. He found what we were looking for just like that. Unfortunately the deal didn't go through until the next day due to the bank being unable to review the offer. Monday rolls around Brian keeps us updated. He comes in on his day off to finalize paperwork and everything. With that being said, we were in and out after a long day of work. Brian made the process simple and easy! Thank you for everything Brian. I would recommend him for your car purchasing needs. read more

JOHN MAISYAN was wonderful to work with -- I initially made contact via the Internet, and he was prompt and informative in getting back to me with quotes on the CX-5 trim levels I was interested in. Then, in person, John helped me find the perfect car in a low-key and always helpful, knowledgeable fashion, answering my questions, letting me test drive the different trim levels, and the providing me exact prices in a fair and straightforward manner. He wasn't pushy when I said I had to think about it and then was great in leading me through the initial paperwork to lease the car I chose. RYAN SHEIKH then finished up the lease paperwork and was a pleasure to work with as well. Finally, in handing over the car, John was very thorough in guiding me through all the technology and even paired my iPhone. I love my new CX 5 and was really impressed with the stellar, classy service at Star Mazda. read more

I walked in thinking no way am I buying a car today- and DROVE OFF IN A BRAND NEW CX-5 because the process was so easy and laid back. I got the information I needed in a respectful and timely manner. I arrived at 1:20 pm for a BASIC oil change was told a 2 hour wait, which I agreed to I didn't leave until 4:28 pm exactly and was told the car completed in the time quoted. I was also told the car should have an oil change every 6 months?? For what exactly I bearly drive the car.. I was told to check the fluids and breaks make sure everything is okay... so basically I should pay $100 for you to inspect my car every 6 months? give me something in writing which states an oil change is required every 6 months for legitimate reasons... such a scam. Being there for 3 hours I must say sales staff is knowledgeable and friendly... I mean I can practically sell a car now... spent so much time there. No car washes. Both my key batteries are low when I questioned why service advisor said it's normal... car's not even 2 years old for BOTH batteries to die, said for a fee they will replace, they waived the fee at the end as a "favor" I asked for my new plate sticker for DMV to be placed since I don't have a screwdriver... they promised they would after 3 hour wait it wasn't done... it was sooo painful watching TWO people try to unscrew my plate and put it back... next time I'll just buy the screwdriver since I can't borrow it... over 10 min and multiple drops. I asked if these cars have problems so I can determine if I should purchase after lease as I bearly have miles on it I got a 15 min answer or talking circles. I'm sorry I asked. While I was getting out of the car advisor was taking pictures whe I was waiting inside I received an email with the pictures labeled damage on my car... it was dust!! And then me signing acknowledging it... with a 5k service okay I was asked to sign to allow the oil change I never saw pictures I never agreed to damage nor why would I sign for 5k oil change when I clearly stated I have 10k miles on my car? DONT SIGN ANYTHING without seeing and reading and questioning everything... not a big deal in this case but WOW lesson learned. After 3 hours for an oil change I'm so disappointed. I'm going back to the mom and pop oil change I usually go to maximum wait is 30 min 40 on a busy day. read more

My experience with Star Mazda thus far has been everything but good. My husband and I went into purchase a used Vehicle that we saw on Cars.com. Upon arrival, we were approached by Jay who informed us that it was his first day on the floor. We looked at the car, took it for a test drive and decided to make the purchase. We were told that the car came with an extended warranty for up-to 30,000 additional miles. We were also told that the car could be returned within 30 days if any issues. We put down $5000 deposit and financed the rest. On October 20th, we were contacted by Jay who told us we needed to go back in because were were going to be getting $1000 back. My husband went in and there was no $1000 back, they just made him re-sign all the paperwork making the official purchase date October 21st. The very next day I was driving in front of my husband and noticed one of his fog lights was out, when I was later driving behind him I noticed that the left signal light was out!!! I contacted Jay and he told me he would let us know how to resolve the problem with the lights, but never got a response from him. Later that week, my husband was parked on the side of Hollywood Blvd and the key would not come out of the ignition and all of the electric was completely out. He left the car there because it was 3 am and then went to jump start the car with a friend a couple days later. The car was suddenly working and he continued to drive it. About a week and a half later, all kinds of warning lights started coming on, including check engine light. We contacted Jay and asked him what to do. He told us that the warranty will cover any issues and to bring it to the nearest Chevy Service. We brought the car to Chevy as directed by Jay and they told us there was a leak in the water pump and the warranty didn't cover it. Chevy contacted Star Mazda asking the to pay for the $500 service being that we hadn't even had the car for a month. The refused. We left the Chevy Service and brought the car home a few miles down the road. The check engine light was still on, but we assumed that it hadn't yet recognized the repairs. The next morning on the way to the gas station the car started smoking. We contacted the sales manager John of Mazda and requested to return the car. He refused the return, but promised to have his service center complete all repairs. I towed the car to the star Mazda at my own expense on November 22nd. Our car is STILL THERE WITH NO RESOLUTION. John the sales manager basically refuses to take our phone calls, so I went in to discuss in person. John was not there, but the sales manager that was there was a condesending rude slob. I am blown away by the disrespect and lack of help from this company. The sales department has been 0 help. John finally agreed on the phone to come up with a resolution and stick by our side on the matter and have not heard from him since. That was 3 weeks ago. I spoke with Roy from the service department who tried to put the blame on the Chevy service center, but promised to follow up with them and communicate with them to help come up with a resolution. Again, no solution has been made at this time. Our car is sitting on their lot for a month and no one has even contacted us to help. We were out of the country and just returned and touched base with Chevy and Mazda service departments. They again say they will communicate and help resolve... lets see... will keep posted on the matter. If anyone has any advice, please help! read more

Truly exceptional purchase experience with Kyle Groom (Internet Sales Director). I discovered Star Mazda through Costco Auto Program and handled the entire negotiation over e-mail. It was refreshingly straightforward, without the typical runaround and "word salad" explanations about pricing. He was very clear, professional, and quick with his replies. At my request, he ensured all the paperwork was ready in advance and car prepped for delivery. All I had to do was show up, meet with finance dept to sign docs, and get the keys. Flawless experience and definitely would recommend! read more

Bait and switch? It's always hard to prove, but I really think I smelled it. Salesman 1of Star emailed me a written, detailed quote for a particular Mazda; the sheet included VIN and stock number. I made an appointment on a Friday to drive it Saturday morning at 10. Salesman 1 wasn't free, so he introduced me to Salesman 2. Salesman 2 spends 15 minutes combing two lots, and then his computer, using the VIN and stock numbers off my phone to hunt for it. He can't find the car. He keeps trying but he can't find the car, and of course, you can't find a car that isn't there. "This doesn't feel good," I say, and get up to leave, but he says, "Wait, let me talk to Salesman 1." I follow him. Salesman 1 says, "That car sold." I say, Really? When did it sell? Since yesterday afternoon when I made the appointment? Salesman 1 looks at me blankly. I say, It sold overnght and you didn't have the courtesy to call me and save me a long drive here? Or--it never existed? Silence from both men. I leave.
