He explained to me how the whole process works then the next thing i knew i made an appointment for Saturday and end up getting one. ZERO STARS!!! This review is for my dad. Long story short, he brought his car to Star Mazda on a tow bed as it was having battery issues. Charge wouldnt last even with recharge and that was causing other electrical issues. He said he was not checked for service as that usually happens at least when I go to Puente Hills for my Mazda. Thought that was odd. His car was dropped around 1pm on Thursday July 28 NO ONE called my dad on Thursday, Friday or Saturday to give any update. He finally called on Saturday to ask if his car was ready and it was but why did he have to call. Where is the customer service? Since he wasnt checked in he didnt any paperwork until he picked up his car. Paperwork said No issue was found. None of this made sense to me when I read the paperwork and I regret not accompanying my 82 year old dad. Since he had no answer as to what issues his car could have, he was nervous and insecure to drice his new car. I took matters into my own hands and took my dad to Puente Hills Mazda where I get excellent and professional service for my mazda. Allan listened to us and couldnt believe the lack of service received from Star Mazda. After a few hours he confirmed to us with an update call to say it was the battery and so they replaced it. Star Mazda shame on all your awful service. How could you treat your mazda customer like thisi? I hope your team gets customer service training as well as your mechanics might be needing some training as well. My brother and I will be purchasing new Mazda SUV's in the coming months and I can assure you we will be going to Puente Hills Mazda who knows how to treat their customers. read more

I had a wonderful experience for a repair estimate which I had gotten on-line from Cars.com and Star Mazda was recommended by Repair Pal. I was asking questions about the estimate and spoke to the Service Manager Hannibal Hernandez who said he would call back in 15 minutes with the information I was seeking. He did call back in 15 minutes and provided me with not only information but with some ideas to try to see if I could resolve the problem without spending a great deal of money on parts and labor. I had a great experience with Star Mazda. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and I didn't feel like I was being sold something I didn't want ( one of my fears when purchasing a car). What set the foundation for my experience was approaching the dealer through my financial institution (USAA), with agreement on the specific vehicle I wanted and the price prior to arriving for the test drive with my loan in hand. I had completed extensive research on the vehicle I preferred, and arrived with questions, which were all answered by my sales representative, Kyle. My test drive confirmed the features of the vehicle I wished, and showed me the way the car handled, which was the last thing I needed before my final decision to purchase. My sales representative was able to accommodate all of the driving experiences I requested (acceleration over 60mph, parking features). We also walked through becoming familiar with the car's technology features and dashboard layout. I felt welcomed and included by all the persons assisting us, and even those who were not, while on the showroom floor. The purchasing experience, while long as expected (waited somewhere between 1-2 hours to finalize the financing), went smoothly and positively as well. Every time I come in for a synthetic oil change or maintenance they offer me a left to the local Americana shopping center/Glendale Galleria and they also wash my car. Parts are ordered quickly and they usually always carry accessories I'm shopping for. Recently I received outstanding service from Roy Wells the service manager. Although I did not end up buying a Mazda, I have to say I had a really positive, memorable experience. Edita was absolutely wonderful. It was like seeing a good friend after a long time apart; we instantly bonded. She didn't have that stereotypical car salesperson vibe or speech, and she did not pressure me, only made suggestions and gave me options. Good options at that. Today my husband and I went to Star Mazda to upgrade from our CX5 2015 to a new 2018. Our sales representative was Adita.Not only was she courteous and friendly but she made us feel comfortable and safe in buying a new car. I came here to get an engine oil change and an inspection. It was my first time coming here so I was a little intimidated. I called ahead the day before to make an appointment, and the lady was very kind and courteous on the phone! Today, I drove in and immediately I was greeted by Raul, one of the service workers. He asked me what I needed and gave me a breakdown of the cost. Less than $30 for what I came in for! He asked if I wanted to wait and showed me where I could sit. Luckily, I brought a book to keep myself busy. He walked over to where I was sitting when they finished the inspection to tell me that one of my brake light bulbs was out and that I had a nail in one of my tires. He mentioned (and after inquiry, further explained) some sort of tire warranty but didn't push me to get it when I declined. Another half hour of waiting and my car was all ready for me! (Of course, the replaced light bulb and tire fixing cost a little extra but it wasn't unreasonable.) Raul explained clearly and carefully everything that the inspection revealed and asked if I had any questions before leading me over to the cashier's booth. He warned me that my brakes would need to be replaced after about 5000 miles, but that they were still fine for now. I'm glad he was the one to help me! He made sure I wasn't lost every step of the way. The ladies at the cashier's booth were absolutely wonderful as well! :) Overall, all of the people I came in contact with for this experience were extremely kind and efficient in getting what I needed done. I was a little worried after reading all of the reviews, but I'm certain that I'll come back here again the next time I need an inspection, an oil change, or any other service work. read more

This review is for Nathan in the service department. I had a transmission issue and wasn't sure what the problem was or how much it would cost. I came to the service department with no appointment and Nathan was quick to help me get my car checked in. He was kind, kept me informed, and called to give me updates on the status of my car. Definitely look for him when taking your car in! The rest of the Star Mazda service team is also excellent, really attentive about diagnosing the real issues in the vehicle but not over-assertive. I was looking for a used sedan and was interested in the Mazda 3. Kyle met me on his day off, had the car washed and ready to go! He could not have been any more professional. But the reason I am leaving this review is because after test driving the Mazda 3 I realized it just was not the car for me. Worst leasing experience ever. Dishonest and added BS fees at start of my lease and when it came time to purchase my vehicle, they listed it even though I gave them my final cash payment in full, resulting in the bank charging me an extra $1.6k for excess mileage and disposition fee. Even though I lived a mile away, I would drive all the way down to the OC for my oil changes just to avoid this place conning me out of even more money. I should have gone elsewhere to purchase my vehicle at the end of my lease. I regret going to Star Mazda and would never recommend them to anyone. read more

This review is coming way too late (sorry I got busy). Two words...Roy Wells. This WONDERFUL man is perfection; detailed, kind, no nonsense, professional, sweet, helpful...I can go on forever. Let me tell you about Star Mazda; they made my 2003 Miata like new after SIX visits to mechanics in a month. I went to places that just threw parts at my Miata, but Star Mazda was determined to make that not happen. Visiting the mechanics that I won't mention, I left knowing my car was not fixed (sometimes being told nothing was wrong with it because you know, those crazy women..)and having it break down moments later during the hottest days of the summer. Roy not only made sure that didn't happen again but made my life so less stressful by lending me an awesome car until my repairs were complete. I would also like to thank Nathan who was super kind and helpful. I love this place and will never go anywhere else. I went in today with my dad to check out the Mazda3's they had the on lot. Our saleswoman was Evita and she was funny, personable, witty, and full of character. I work in sales myself and I personally feel that it is absolutely crucial to have someone with whom you can connect with. I enjoyed conversing with her while we were going through the motions of negotiating and purchasing a vehicle. She had a great sense of humor and she didn't B.S. me. If she didn't know an answer to a question, then she sought out someone in the dealership who did. This is my first review on Yelp. I never really visit this site but after my dealing with Evita and the dealership in general, I personally felt obligated to pass my positive experience onto others. I pretty much had my mind made up on the kind of car I wanted so there wasn't much in the way of detailed questioning and answering as to the specs of the model I was looking at in the lot, but she lent an atmosphere of confidence and friendliness to the entire visit to the dealership. Thank you again for your superb service Evita! The only drawback to the visit (which was in no way our salesperson's fault) was that the financing department was understaffed and there was a line of people waiting to get the financing of their new purchases completed. I was informed they were in the process of interviewing applicants for another financing manager to add to the staff, so I guess my timing in that respect was off. I definitely got the distinct impression that they were doing a lot of business today. I purchased a pre-owned Honda Civic at Star Mazda. I had gotten into an accident few months ago an got my car totalled so I had to shop around for used car because of my budget. It was my first time having to go to dealerships to shop for a car. Unlike the other dealerships that I went to, people at Star Mazda were incredibly nice. Even though I wasn't shopping for a Mazda, they were very friendly. When I first came, I felt pretty nervous because I was afraid that the sales people will push me to buy the car. But Ron was really nice and patiently explained to me about the car condition, and he was very funny! I didn't feel any pressure at all, in fact, I felt comfortable there because I know that I can trust him. A funny story about my purchase, I called back to Ron the next day to purchase the car but he said that the car was sold to someone else. So I was looking for another car, and the day after that I already made an appointment at another dealership when I saw a message from Ron. He told me that the other person didn't show up, so I cancelled my appointment and went right back to Star Mazda and finally got the car!!! Although it's a Honda, the condition of the car is really good, they took a good care of all the cars they have. The interior looks clean and new, they put on new tires, the engine is clean. It almost felt like I was getting a brand new car for myself. Normally this place has offered top-notch service to me [and others.].. However, due to the effect of global warming and prolonged events of thunderstorms in the L.A. county, I had a flood from the heavy rainstorm causing my carpeting to be damaged. Hence the visit to Star Mazda service center. After checking-in and waiting for about 3 hours in their waiting area, and watching all the people that came in after I sat down get checked-out before me, finally I get approached by Service Rep and he counsels me about my car issue and we walk back to my car. I looked at the carpet and nothing was done to help the soaked and damaged carpet. Thankfully, I was not charged. But I paid for it with my 3 hours of time spent there. Please let your customers know asap if you cannot do anything about the issue the customer presents to you. Is it because I look younger than an average "American" that I can't be respected for my time? Or because I'm a female Asian? read more

This is the first time I visit this place for oil change, and most likely it will be my last. I was served by David Gomez, who, after the oil change made the following recommendations: front strut-worn, rear shocks-worn, lower control arm bushing-torn, coolant reservoir tank (leak), upper transmission mount, upper engine mount, alignment, battery service(rust), tie rod ends. I asked him in terms of priority, which should be fixed immediately, and he said pretty much everything requires my immediate attention. I couldn't believe all these are happening at the same time, because I don't drive long distance regularly, recklessly...etc., in short, I don't abuse my car. And I serviced my car almost always at the recommended date set by the technician. The next day I went to my local Mazda dealer to get a second opinion, and I specifically asked them to look into the leaking in the coolant reservoir tank, and any major components that may require my immediate attention. After about an hour, they came back to me and told me they didn't find any leaking or major problems with my car, in other words, it is in great shape. They just recommended me to flush my transmission fluid the next time I service my car. Moral of the story: when in doubt, always get a second opinion! read more
