I'm currently in the market to purchase a new vehicle and have heard many great things about the Mazda CX-5 so undoubtably I HAD to take it for a test drive! I came in late Saturday and was greeted by Francisco. Naturally, being a weekend, it was busier than most probably anticipated however, despite the circumstance, Francisco was super friendly and helpful. He got the cars I wanted to test drive ready quickly and due to COVID my sister and I took the cars on the road ourselves. Again, Francisco suggested we take our time, test it on the freeway, test the brakes etc and made us super comfortable. As I'm not in a super rush to buy, I didn't leave with a car but had an amazing experience which will definitely help during the buying process knowing that there are friendly and helpful staff without the slimy salesy push! You can tell the managers have been working to cultivate a great company culture and customer experience! Well done! read more

Please do your research before you decide to take your vehicle to Star Mazda for service. Be warned that they will try to rip you off. For context: We brought a Mazda-CX 30 for a diagnostic because we'd had our vehicle's oil change service performed at Valvoline and a day later several warning lights come on. They inspect the vehicle and find that Valvoline overfilled the vehicles oil by two quarts. Mazda ends up quoting 7 to 10k worth of damages to the intake manifold and catalytic converter. They even went as far as to say they recommended a new engine. Long story short, we contact Valvoline, they perform another oil change and change the spark plugs. The vehicle is then taken back to Star Mazda for a second diagnostic. Valvoline guy agrees to meet there to speak with Mazda and with the service tech that had been helping us, Armand. Tell me why Armand and Valvoline manager speak without my consent? Suddenly Star Mazda's Armand calls to inform that the car is ready and states that there is no diagnostic video because one is not needed since the car is to quote him, "Running beautifully." We end up having to go in and speak to the service manager to be able to obtain a diagnostic video for documentation purposes and then another text saying the car is ready. We pull up to pick up the vehicle and it wasn't ready. Armand went to lunch and didn't leave any paper work ready. They pull up the car and a bunch of warning lights still on, car feels like it's still misfiring. They end up saying the tech forgot to reconnect some piece to the sensor or whatever it was. Super shady business. I'm sure Armand was just covering for his buddy over at Valvoline because he went from saying that Valvoline should pay for their mistake to "Oh the manager was such a nice guy" and acting totally different and sketchy. It's all top notch service when they're trying to rip you off right? Because someone explain to me HOWWWWWWW HOWWWW do you go from being quoted 7 to 10k in damages to "The car is running beautifully" after spark plugs being changed and an oil change. Pleaaaase I wish you guys could explain this shady business to me. What happened to the days of conducting business with some integrity. I'm truly disappointed because I honestly think they were just trying to get over on us because we're females and we don't know about cars. Don't forget we do have fathers and brothers that do. I wish I could give this place negative stars. I'm disgusted by the way we were treated. Never going back, but will be contacting the better business bureau and the state bureau. read more

I recently visited Star Mazda for the first time and was extremely satisfied with the maintenance on my 2017 Mazda Miata RF recently completed by the Service Dept. at Star Mazda in Glendale. It is so nice to have such an excellent customer service experience with a car service dept. and afterward the Service Advisor Craig Chan took the time to send me a personal email thanking me for my visit and welcoming me as a new service client. After dealing with lackluster customer service and the shady car servicing in Los Angeles, it was definitely worth the extra drive out to Glendale! My first visit was such a pleasure that I give it a rare 5 Star Yelp review thanks to Craig & the friendly service staff at Star Mazda. I wanted to share with others my excellent experience with the Star Mazda Service Dept. as finding a friendly, trust worthy mechanic in the City is like finding a hidden treasure these days. I've already booked my next maintenance service visit for later this year and requested to work with Craig again! Star Mazda is lucky to have such a kind, knowledgable & dedicated service staff as Mr. Chan as one of its Star ambassadors! Take your car to Star Mazda and ask for Craig, you won't be disappointed. read more

Hey just want to share my wonderful experience with Star Mazda in Glendale. First, it is good customer service. Second I got amazing Mazda 3! Third I met the great seller which you defiantly have to ask for:) Ps. Thank you my dear friend Edita. read more

I had to come to Star Mazda because the dealer in Alhambra, Browning, which was walking distance to me closed up. I brought my 2019 CX5 in for routine service with under 10k miles. In addition, my check engine light was on. I expected to stay maybe 1.5 - 2 hours. The engine light issue became a major problem. Apparently rats ate through some harness wiring in the engine compartment which, in doing some research, is not that uncommon. This came to over $2k in repairs and over 10 days. The length of time was due to waiting for an insurance adjuster approval, getting parts shipped, and the repairs. Yes, fortunately comprehensive insurance covers this. Sam M., the service advisor was excellent and kept me appraised during the whole process. Sam also provided a loaner vehicle while my car was being repaired. Thanks Sam! read more

This review is specifically for Alfredo in the service department. He is beyond sweet and knowledgeable, he explains everything that they are going to do on the car very thoroughly. He is wonderful and I always feel taken care of when I work with him. read more

Our sales person was amazing!! Not only did he make the purchase of our new vehicles easy, but he had a great personality as well. Everyone knows how time consuming and stressful buying a new car can be, but Kyle was very personable, which we really appreciated. We were extremely pleased with our recent purchase! I would definitely recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a Mazda and want great customer service. Ask for Kyle if you can! This dealership even found the colors we wanted even though they had to do a trade; the trade did not take long at all! Again, we want to thank Star Mazda for our recent experience buying our new babies. read more

Brought my car in this morning for service. I was blown away by how well I was treated from beginning to end by everyone I interacted with. In a time in history where customer service has taken a backseat, Star Mazda continues to shine. read more

Highly recommend visiting their service department. Great staff. After purchasing my Mazda from a different dealership than my hometown one (Galpin Valencia), I was still forced to visit my hometown dealership. After that one closed I was forced to drive to Galpin of North Hills. Repeating disappointing visits at that other dealership lead me to Star Mazda and I have no complaints. Staff here treats you friendly and quickly. You're a person and not a number to them. Jerry has been my service provider several times and recalls me and my situation and always provides me with the service I deserve as a customer. In the future I will continue my business with Star Mazda even if it is a farther dealership for me. The customer service is well worth it. Dealership provides great amenities to guest waiting for service. read more

Just bought a new car from Star Mazda, I was nervous walking in. You know what they say about car salesmen, but I had a great experience. I did a test drive on Saturday, didn't buy until Wednesday. I expected a lot of pressure when I walked away on Saturday, but I told him was waiting until Wednesday and he didn't ask again. I would definitely recommend buying from Kyle Groom. read more

I want to say a HUGE Thanks to Gerardo (Lalo) and Alfredo. Sorry it took so long to respond back, but have been out of town. Long story short, the air conditioning is working fine and I'm thrilled. Thank you for your help to get it resolved after all this time. Also, thank you for the car wash. It was truly the cherry on top. read more

Update 4/24/20 As you can see the GM messaged me here on Yelp. I am providing factual information so you the customer can make an educated decision about doing business with this establishment. The GM who messaged is, in fact, the same GM I am referring to in my original review. So this shows the customer does not have a lasting impression on management even when asking for their help. Secondly, I did reach out to the GM as he requested, to try and fix my problem. He has not since my original post and this post reached out to me in any way, a month later now. My one-star review stands. read more

I leased a 2019 Mazda3 Hatchback from Star last weekend. I requested a lease quote from the Mazda website for a specific vehicle and Kyle Groom reached out to me almost immediately with an estimate. It was by far the best offer I had received. Kyle's estimates always included taxes and fees, and he responses were prompt and professional. We had the numbers worked out before I even came in and my test drive/in-dealership experience was relatively quick and easy. Thanks Star Mazda! As for the car, it's amazing. Leaps and bounds better than anything in its class. This is my 3rd Mazda and I'll be back in 3 years for an electric Mazda3 if they have it. read more

Three hours for an oil change and tire rotation, and inaccurate information about tire wear. The last two times I took my car to STAR Mazda for an oil change and tire rotation it took way too long - most recently three hours! After waiting patiently, I sent a text to the service attendant and within seconds (literally!) got a message that my car was ready for pickup. (I wonder how long it had been ready before I asked.) Moreover, I was told that my tires had 3/32 inch of tread remaining, which I acknowledge would mean I need new tires. I declined their offer to install new tires because the price seemed high. When I got home, I put my digital calipers on every tread of every tire and the minimum tread thickness I measured with 5/32. I have another 5000 to 10,000 miles left on the tread. (Maybe they just need to recalibrate their caliper, but I doubt it.) read more

Updated to reflect the fact that the manager responded to my previous review and reached out multiple times to address my concerns. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go in for another service appointment for quite a while, so I'll have to wait til then to write a proper update. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and bumping it to 4 instead of 3. I appreciate the customer service, but I would have appreciated it more the first time around. Hopefully this was just a one-off. read more

After my boyfriend and myself had a horrific experience at the Subaru dealership across the street (We were just trying to buy a brand new car) We went home and began looking online and we stumbled across Mazda. My boyfriends car was totaled by a tree limb so to the Mazda lot we went. We were quickly approached by Edita and she is the reason for this review!! Edita was very accommodating, personable, knowledgeable and funny!! She explained everything to us (neither of us have ever bought a car) I always have a lot of questions and she answered them perfectly. GIVE EDITA A RAISE!! If you're in the market for a new car go visit this Mazda dealership and ask for Edita, you won't regret it! Thanks Edita, we love you! read more

Pros: easy reservations system; easy location; good quality work Cons: most expensive basic service I've had done to my Miata; first Mazda dealer that has tried to upsell maintenance and repairs for me in the 8 years I've had the car Bottom Line: still better than Culver City Mazda, but I miss Browning in Alhambra and Wescott in San Diego read more

I took my car to have my stereo repaired. They informed me I needed a new battery, brake fluid, windshield wipers, etc. After an hour and 1/2 they charged me almost $900 and never fixed the stereo. $500 of the cost was for labor. I will never take my car back to Star Mazda for repairs. They fit the typical stereotype of why you don't take your car to the dealer to have it fixed unless it's still on warranty. Beware! I used to live in Glendale for 25 years and moved almost 40 miles away before I bought my first Mazda. I still come here, because they are superior to my local dealer (Galpin). Nathon took amazing care of me, took me as a walk in no problem for my oil change. This is a great dealer with an amazing service department. They are super busy but professional, prompt, and courteous. Galpin has turned me away with all their mechanics sitting around with empty bays. Haven't bought a car from them here, but they will be the first Mazda dealer I look at! read more

ILLEGAL PRACTICES. I've been coming to Star Mazda for the better part of 10 years for all of my service - including basic oil changes. They're a good shop, and do good work. I was there today and noticed they had signage up stating they were going to pass on the 3.99% credit card surcharge to customers, unless they paid using cash or debit. If you own a business, the credit card companies charge the business owner a transaction fee to process that payment. Mazda is passing this fee onto costumers. This is illegal. Period. In the state of CA no business can charge a customer a credit card surcharge simply because they are not using cash, or another cash alternate. Business can offer a small discount for cash payments, but cannot pass a credit card surcharge on to customers. (Ca. Code 1748.1) When it came time to pay my $1200 bill, I told them I refused to pay this fee. It came from management, they said. Don't care. And they KNOW that what they're doing is illegal. Ultimately they said they would "waive it for me," as if they were doing me a solid. Buyer beware. I will be filing a complaint with the state. Star Mazda, be better. read more

Worst Mazda Service Center in LA!!! Over the past year I've taken my Mazda here to get routine service done because the place I previously took it to shutdown during the pandemic. My first impression was not a very warm one. I've dealt with quite a few people here already and they aren't friendly, not very knowledgeable and set either low or false expectations. It feels like they only care about their own agenda and not the agenda of things you need done; which is the whole reason why you've taken your vehicle here to get serviced in the first place!!! My last trip I needed very basic routine service done; oil change, air filter, tire rotation etc. I also was having issues with my key fob not allowing me to unlock the car or even start it at times. After a 2-3hr wait I finally got my vehicle back with some very "convenient" recommended services that left me with a way higher bill than expected (2/3 of that being from labor!). Long story short they did not fix my key fob which I did not find out until later when It took me 10 minutes to start my car.. This is not the first time I've had to come back to address an issue that was not resolved the first time! When I called them to let them know this issue was not addressed in my last appointment, instead of seeing me right away they made me their earliest appointment which was 4 days out when all I needed was a key fob battery!!! This place is so frustrating! Please "Don't Waste Your Time"!!! They are a rip off in labor cost, there are ridiculously long wait times & they forget to address the issues you've come there to get fixed. read more

Buying a car usually has it's drawbacks - you feel overwhelmed at the dealership, grapple with wondering if you got the best deal, and have to deal with fast-talking and over zealous salespeople. Well, I had the complete opposite experience at Star Mazda. Specifically, I worked with Edita, and she honestly made the entire experience so much more pleasant than what I was expecting. She never hassled me, and I never felt like she was trying to up sell me on anything. She is also very personable and open, and made me feel more comfortable overall, so when it came down to negotiating a price, I felt more empowered to be up front and honest about what I wanted to walk away with. The rest of the team I worked with were all very professional and kind as well - John, the sales manager, and Don in finance were both great. And yes, they are selling you a product, but it's easy to tell when someone is being genuine, and these guys absolutely are. I walked away with a great deal on a 2019 Mazda 3 hatchback lease, and would absolutely recommend going to Star if you are looking to buy a Mazda. Five stars! read more

Star Mazda is the worst dealer ever!! They just talk and their promises aren't even true. I took my car to get serviced and they were trying to charge me when I got told a different story also they took forever and lastly my car wasn't even washed at all, worst service ever!!! We had a wonderful experience buying a "new" used car at this dealership. We recently bought a 2019 Mazda3 with only 3500 miles on it, their loaner. We had a very patient, understanding and excellent salesman, Israel. The whole staff could not have been nicer, from the finance man to the general manager. We got a fair deal and are very pleased with our purchase. Even though we live two hours away, we would not hesitate to buy from them again. They did not pressure us and I think everyone felt like they could put their cards on the table and be honest with each other and both sides gave a little. Thank you Star Mazda! read more

One star for lousy sales experience and service. Bought a used Mazda 3 3 weeks ago. Car was pretty new with just over 3,500 miles. Car was in good condition so that was not an issue. 1. Buying experience was horrible. Got to dealership at 2pm. Did a quick test drive and knew I wanted to buy the car in all cash with no financing. Started paperwork about 2:45pm. Paperwork done by 3:30pm. All I wanted to do then was give them a check for the car and be on my way. Didn't get out of there for another 3.5 hours!! Had to wait for the finance manager who had 3-4 people ahead of me. Was told each person takes close to an hour to process. When my turn came it took me about 15 min to finish paperwork and leave my check. I had to wait 3.5 hrs just so they would take my money! 2. Lousy service after the purchase. At the time of the purchase the 2nd car key and owners manual was missing. Israel, the salesperson who sold me the car told me that they would look for it and send it to me. If they couldn't find it he would make arrangements for me to get a second key at a local Mazda dealer. Well has been 3 WEEKS and still no key or owners manual. Over the last 3 weeks I have texted Israel 5 times and called him 2 times. He hasn't responded to my last 3 texts and my last vm. Looks like I am going to have to contact the US Mazda HQ just to get a 2nd key and owners manual. read more
