I came here for my mom's birthday, brought her and her husband, and the place was definitely nice. The reviews seemed promising but once the meal came to an end, I was disappointed. I expected so much more for the price I paid. I got 2 starters and 3 entrees. Out of the 5 plates, the only real stars were the 8 thin slices of salmon to start and the pineapple fried rice. The salmon starter had a very nice kick to it, tasted fresh, and had a cooling finish with the mint added on top. The slices were on the thinner side so that was annoying but I get it, upscale places usually skimp out like that so no one was surprised. The pineapple fried rice came with a quarter of a pineapple laying on its side and was grilled, which added a nice touch to it, but I think I would have just preferred more fried rice on my plate. Fried rice is usually either a hit or miss and it was a hit. Would I run home and brag about it? No. It was just good. The other 3 plates we got were the chicken curry, the vegetable curry, and the green string beans. Both curries lacked so much flavor. The yellow chicken curry was on the bland side. Really nothing special about it. The vegetable curry was even more of a let down but it's a simple basic dish so I expected nothing. The green string beans were good, but again, nothing to brag about. The reason the two stars is sufficient enough for me is because of the service and the atmosphere. The servers were very attentive, never letting our water run low. They checked in consistently without being too overly attentive. The man bringing our food out from the kitchen offered extra rice and bread for our curry dishes, which was appreciated. Overall, I don't think I would recommend this restaurant. The servings were so small for it being a tapas type of serving style. I can see why/how this place makes their money; on top of overcharging, you feel forced to order more food so that everyone is full. The taste was just such a miss for me. If you're craving Thai food, go to a hole in the wall, mom and pop shop. If you want ambiance and don't care about the food then maybe this is the place for you. read more

Nice restaurant. Definitely would be my "go to" for special occasions where I (or my party) want Thai food. The menu's not a typical Thai menu and despite asking for spicy, it wasn't really... vs most Thai restaurants, I'm careful not to ask for the spiciest level because native Thai spice is way too much. The dishes we had were good, and I like them for the variety b/c it wasn't the typical Thai dishes. But, it also didn't hit the "Thai spot" for me so I probably wouldn't actually go there if I was craving Thai food. Came here for Dinela lunch at opening. Service was quick initially but things started going downhill. Waited 30 minutes for our entree. Our waters did not get refilled unless we flagged down the server. It was challenging to get our server's attention each time as we were seated at the bar. When it came to dessert, they forgot one of our orders. Even paying the bill took a bit of time. I was considering going to the front to pay at one point. Super frustrating when the tables near us who weren't dinela received much more efficient service. We were at the restaurant for a total of 2 hours, mostly waiting for food or for our server more so than eating. It's a shame because the food (bakka wild salmon, thai royal curry, flan) is not bad here and the ambiance and decor of the restaurant are nice. We had an amazing experience for dinner at Star Leaf this week. We ordered a whole mix of items to share family style and enjoyed EVERYTHING- especially the Tom Yum soup, the shrimp cake skewers, and the fried rice. I was so excited to come try but was pretty disappointed. We got both lunch combos and were underwhelmed by both. The papaya salad lacked flavor, nothing too special about the soup nor the curry either. Our favorite item was probably their thai tea that comes with coconut ice cream (you get it free from yelp check-in). The service was also extremely slow - perhaps because it's still in the soft opening phase. Honestly nothing to rave about and not sure if it's worth the price I paid for "fine dining". The lunch service started off good when we were one of 3 tables but our server ended up with about 6 or 7 tables and I could tell he was focusing on the two larger parties near us. Towards the end he didn't even bother filling our waters or even ask us about dessert. We did decide to order some dessert but the mango sticky rice wasn't worth the time or the money. Thai town will serve a bigger serving for a better price. Our group agreed with liked the Tom yum soup, the papaya salad and royal crown fried rice. The braised short rib was tender but had no flavor. Overall our experience was just okay.
