Had some time to kill before an event at the Pasadena Playhouse, so we stopped by Star Leaf and we're so glad we did! We ordered the salmon sashimi with their special Green House dipping sauce, and wow... it was out of this world. Fresh, flavorful, and easily one of the best sauces we've had. A big shoutout to Sebastian, our bartender. He's an incredible mixologist, super friendly, and originally from the south of France. His recommendations were spot-on and made our visit even better. We'll definitely be back and will be spreading the word. Highly recommend!

Star Leaf has a great ambiance romantic, modern, and perfect for a night out. It has great service. The Thai-inspired dishes are absolutely delicious! The menu has something for everyone. The crispy short rib is one of my favorite dishes on the menu and the pad kra pao wraps are to die for too. They are my go to every time and bold to say, they're probably my favorite Thai lettuce wraps ever and I've had a lot. Their cocktails are a must order and if you like fruity cocktails then you will be blown away by the selection. If you're after a trendy, upscale spot for a special occasion, it's worth checking out! There's parking in the garage and they valet. Always a great option.
I don't know, guys...I just don't get the hype. We came in on father's day for lunch, hoping to have an upscale Thai meal, and we left feeling like the only upscale thing was the price. The good: their crispy mango sea bass - this hit the texture notes and the sweet, sour, salty combo. We also thought their half chicken was okay. We could've stopped here, but unfortunately we didn't and it was mostly downhill from there. The mixed bag: their softshell crab royal curry was fine, but I found it to be too sweet and oily after a few bites. The braised mushrooms ($18!!) lacked seasoning - tasted like unsalted boiled mushroom instead of carrying the umami complexity of a braise. The WTF: what is up with their tom yum? The immediate taste memory that came to mind is the Whole Foods hot bar minestrone. I'm not kidding. How does that happen? It was like a limey tomato seafood soup, not like a tangy, creamy tom yum at ALL. Their vegetable curry also had a tomato-saucelike taste to it. You could've told me both were (bad) Italian fusion dishes and I would've believed you. Service was painfully slow from beginning to end, despite it not being too packed and what looked like a manager walking around. The ambiance was fine, but the vibes were definitely off. The mocktails we got were good. Would not come back.
An upscale Thai restaurant with delicious food and great ambience. Ordered the shrimp thai royal curry, the shrimp is lightly fried and holds the curry well when eaten with rice. The vegan krapow wraps were yummy and a nice appetizer to share. Shrimp pad thai was okay but did not stand out. Service is good and attentive. Would skip on the strawberry pandan lemonade and strawberry oat matcha latte, both were below average.
My family and I came here for a birthday dinner, and honestly, it was just okay. This was our first time dining here, and after hearing so many great things, I think our expectations were pretty high. Unfortunately, it didn't really live up to the hype for us. We ordered many dishes, including the Siam Beach Club Egg Rolls, Night Market Shichimi Tofu, Shrimp Pad Thai, Malay Captain's Chicken Curry, Banana Leaf Chicken, Madame Noi's Pork Collar, Royal Crown Fried Rice, Bakka Wild Salmon, and the S.E. Asian Rib-eye. The best dish of the night was definitely the Bakka Wild Salmon. The salmon itself was good, but the sauce was phenomenal and easily my favorite thing we tried. The curry was also decent, and I appreciated that it came with bread, although I thought it was too heavily drenched in oil. Having visited Thailand several times, that's not something I've personally experienced with curry before, so it felt a bit out of place. The biggest disappointment was the Royal Crown Fried Rice. It lacked flavor almost entirely and tasted very plain. For a dish at this price point, I expected much more seasoning and depth of flavor. Several people at our table felt the same way. The S.E. Asian Rib-eye was another letdown. We ordered it medium rare, but it wasn't nearly as tender as I expected. It was quite fatty, and there wasn't much actual meat compared to the amount of fat. For the price, it simply wasn't worth it. The Banana Leaf Chicken was okay but on the drier side. The Madame Noi's Pork Collar and Siam Beach Club Egg Rolls were decent, but neither stood out as something I'd specifically come back for. The Pad Thai was also fine, but I've definitely had better elsewhere. The tofu tasted good, but the portion felt small for the price. What surprised me most was that it wasn't just my opinion. We had a party of six, and pretty much everyone agreed that many of the dishes lacked flavor, especially considering the restaurant's reputation and pricing. The restaurant itself is beautiful, comfortable, and has a nice atmosphere. That said, it felt a little warm inside during our visit, and the music was louder than I expected and didn't really match the overall vibe. The service was okay. Overall, I'm glad we tried it, but for the price, I expected a lot more. The food wasn't terrible by any means, but it wasn't impressive enough for us to want to come back. Sadly, this will probably be a one time visit for our family.
I love the food at this place. It has an upscale and spacious ambience. The short ribs with lime were crispy and tender. The branzino had a unique sauce. The fried rice was pretty. The dessert was impressive. All the food is presented very pretty. They now have a lunch special so it is more affordable. I had a lovely meal with my parents who enjoyed all the dishes.
And to think - my husband and I were going to cancel our reservation because of a food influencer that could not have been more wrong about their assessment of this restaurant! The food was tasty and not overly salty as previously mentioned by others. The portions were generous, more than enough for a party of four. The service was excellent! Thank you to Conner and his team that served us during our meal. The price is affordable! We've been to other places that have charged more for less. A good option for large groups, they have plenty of space! My main goal for this review is to encourage giving this place a try for anyone that is on the fence! I know when we were reading/watching reviews, it was mixed but we gave this place a try anyways and we enjoyed it! Hopefully folks are pleasantly surprised!
This Thai restaurant has a really unique atmosphere--it feels more like a large American steakhouse than a typical Thai restaurant. The spacious dining room and decor give it a different vibe from what you'd usually expect, making it a fun place for groups or a casual dinner. The food was a mix of hits and misses. The crispy ribs had a great crunch but were a little too chewy for my taste. The orange chicken was just okay; the coating was quite hard, and there wasn't much chicken inside. The fresh spring rolls were definitely one of the highlights--light, fresh, and nicely prepared. The salads were decent but nothing particularly memorable. The service was excellent from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was taken care of throughout the meal. While not every dish stood out, the unique atmosphere and great service made for an enjoyable dining experience.
Saw this restaurant on several social Media websites so we decided to give it a try. We went there on a Saturday afternoon, around 4ish, before the dinner crowd. Got in right away without any wait. The menu was very interesting. Dishes are the best varieties from Southeast Asia flavors. We ordered the yellow chicken curry with choices or breads or rice and salted egg crispy shrimp. The shrimp dish came with about 8-9 shrimp and that was it. So veggie or rice or anything comes with it. The yellow chicken curry was meh. Nothing too excited about. For the price that you pay for each dish, it's not worth the money. The place is decorated tastefully and very relaxing atmosphere. They have a good size patio dining area as well.
Star Leaf came across my Resy search and ended up being a spot I try for my birthday. I went on a Saturday at around 2:00 pm as a walk-in. I was able to find metered parking on the street; not sure why but I didn't need to pay that day! Upon arriving, we were fortunate that there was no wait time and got seated right away. Their menu was quite extensive so we took some time to browse before we ordered. They had a main menu and also a special menu. We pointed out some allergies to the staff and he helped us work around it. The orders came out quickly and he checked in on us frequently to see if we were okay. Great service! Bakka Wild Salmon - This salmon had a lot of things going on for it, in a good way! The combination of flavors felt very refreshing, especially on a hot day. The lime and basil played a big part there. Crispy Short Rib with Lime - Even initially before coming here, this was the dish that caught our attention. I will admit the portion size was a bit smaller than I expected and was even skeptical when it came out. However, without a doubt, this was the highlight of the visit. As someone that loves savory foods, this really hit the spot. The burst of flavors settles in right away. Truffle Wok Seared Noodles - We wanted to pick this noodle dish as a balance to the protein dishes. It did its job but it tasted okay. Not something that stood out. Slow-Drip Vietnam Coffee Flan - I liked the caramel that was layered on the flan, it was crunchy and added a nice texture. It was a nice presentation but tasted okay. Thai Tea - This was my personal drink. It was a standard Thai tea but came with ice cream on top. It was not too sweet but didn't stand out compared to other items. Strawberry Pandan Lemonade - This was my girlfriend's drink. I had a small sip here but found it was refreshing and not too sweet. However, I didn't really get any pandan flavor, mainly strawberry. When it all comes together, it was a good experience. The interior of the story is more dimly lit and felt like a romantic night dinner, despite being the middle of the day. The dishes had a balance of standard and hidden gems. Everything was more than sufficient for two people to share. Service was great and very attentive. Will come back for the Crispy Short Ribs! American Express is accepted here.
I have been to this restaurant before when it was Roy's Hawaiian restaurant. I am glad Star Leaf has kept that tropical vibe inside. A friend and I met here for happy hour prior to a performance at Pasadena Playhouse. It couldn't be more perfect since it is 1 to 2 blocks away and you only have to park once. You also do not have to rush. They have happy hour until 6 PM and another one at 8 PM. The options for drinks and food, as well as the prices are very appealing, but the quality and taste really make it. The food is more of a Thai fusion with strong Thai flavors. The bar bites are meant to be small, but we ordered about four items that completely filled us up as dinner. Standouts for me, worthy tiger, prawn, ceviche, and the crispy Seabass with mangoes, mango sauce, and papaya salad. All the food has a kick, but it is not overly spicy. When I walked into the bar, I saw some house made bitters and fresh ingredients everywhere so I knew the drinks would be awesome. The Peacock margarita has passionfruit and a touch of Mezcal in it. The lychee margarita is not too sweet and so well balanced. Our mixologist, Sebastian was delightful and provided incredible service. I could go back for all these reasons and definitely will do so
My family and I have been here multiple times and have enjoyed ourselves every time. The Pork Collar was our favorite - the mix of flavors was honestly so good! All of the dishes were solid from the fried rice (which was much larger than expected), to the seasonable veggies. The ambiance is great - we saw larger groups celebrating birthdays and folks on dates. I do think they need to staff more waiters. We saw one waiter handling all the orders with support from a bus boy. She was pretty busy and handling the tables well, but didn't have much time to check in on us, refill waters, etc. Tip: there is validated 1 hour parking at 44 Madison

Food: We ordered a wide variety of dishes and were really impressed by both execution and balance across the menu. * Bakka Wild Salmon in Thai Vinaigrette (8 pcs) - Bright, clean, and incredibly refreshing. The flavors complement the salmon perfectly without overpowering it. 10/10, tied with the short ribs as my favorite dish of the night. * Night Market Shichimi Tofu - A fun and well-executed dish with a crispy exterior and a gooey, soft center. Great contrast in texture and an enjoyable bite from start to finish. * Thai Royal Curry with Soft-Shell Crab - Rich, comforting, and full of depth. The curry was flavorful with just the right amount of warmth, and the soft-shell crab held up nicely. A solid dish overall. * Madame Noi's Pork Collar - I can see why this is a best seller. While it was still very good, it ended up being my least favorite dish of the night simply because everything else stood out more. I wouldn't order it again, but it's still worth trying. * Crispy Short Rib with Lime - An absolute 10/10 and the star of the show. Perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. I would come back time and time again just for this dish and the salmon alone. Service: Service was excellent from start to finish. Decided to use our Resy $100 credit here before the end of the quarter. Foods were delicious and ambiance was spot on. Perfect for date night or out of town guests. We dragged our two small children along just to show them what fancy nice sit down dinner looked like - and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend the pork. It had a minor kick to it but it didn't bother my two kids. Our server was very welcoming and attentive. Came here with friends and was SO impressed by the pork collar and royal fried rice (with fish roe)! The crispy fried shrimp cakes and the lime branzino were insanely good as well. Came here for family's birthday. Highly recommend for gatherings of all kind. Made a right decision. The ambiance is eloquent, a perfectly dim setting with lighting on the food to showcase the plating. Their head chef used to work in a Michelin star restaurant in another country and moved here to head this location. Although the other Starleaf locations have different themes, settings, and menus, this one focuses on fine dining. The food quality was excellent. Highly recommend their Bakka Wild Salmon and Malay Captain's Chicken Curry, which by the way was so delicious we had to order one to go. The staff was incredibly kind, helpful and brought excellent energy that added to the dining experience. 100% will be going again. read more

I will go back for that salmon again and again! I stopped in for a solo dinner date during DineLA after browsing the Pasadena options and I felt that Star Leaf curated a nice menu for diners to try during the series and with my favorite dish on the menu, I knew it was meant to be. Starter - BAKKA WILD SALMON IN THAI VINAIGRETTE - salmon sashimi is high quality and the asian salsa verde is drinkable. Make that into a cocktail and I could be here every night. Topping each salmon piece with mint and garlic gives it a nice freshness and texture to it. Main - SOUTHEAST ASIAN RIBEYE - cooked a nice medium rare with a good char, a generous piece, and accompanied by the thai mint salad and charred pineapple was really nice, brining that Asian flair to the dish. Dessert - MANGO STICKY RICE - given a smaller version of their regular menu, the triple glutinous rice had more of a bite to it and the mango was perfectly ripe and sweet and soft. I've had their cocktails before but opted for a mocktail this night. -- STRAWBERRY PANDAN LEMONADE - on the sweeter side, heavy on the strawberry puree, light on the pandan syrup, but refreshing like a cold lemonade on a hot summer's day. read more

A great restaurant in Pasadena with consistently good food and a welcoming atmosphere. The truffle noodles were rich and flavorful, and the fried fish with mango sauce was amazing. Good dining place if you're looking to splurge a little! Food was very good, the standout was the curry, from the moment we walked in we could smell it and knew we were getting some type of curry dish and it absolutely smacked, some of the best curry I've had. We also got a chicken dish can't remember the name but it was roasted and very yummy and juicy as well. For starters we got the rolls which were very intersting but taste wise were good! The mango sticky rice was SO good and idk if me and my homegirl were tripping but each color rice has a different taste so that was a nice touch! Their drinks were very strong but in the best way, still tasted as expected. Service was great honestly! She apologized about the wait multiple times and realistically it wasn't even that bad compared to other places I've been recently. And at the end she gave us each a voucher for free lunch because of the wait. Hospitality at its finest! Came back to try out some of the summer/dinner menu with a few friends, and the vibes are still next level. You definitely come here for the ambiance, and the service is top-notch. As for the food, it's pricey but pretty good. Just come in with the expectation that it's not exactly authentic Thai food--it's more of a fusion. The four of us tried these items: Nyonya Scallop - This was on the summer menu and it's delicious. Totally recommend it--super fresh and everything worked perfectly together. (5/5) Malaysian Rojak Salad - Personally, I thought this was just okay. It was a very light version compared to what I'm used to, and overall it seemed kind of basic. Not bad, but I wouldn't order it again. (2.5/5) Pineapple Fried Rice - Pretty unique since they add parmesan cheese (we got it on the side). The fried rice itself was good--nothing super special, but still tasty. The cheese felt a bit unnecessary, though it actually did taste pretty good. (4/5) Madame Noi's Pork Collar - This one was great; I'd definitely get it again. Super hearty but still packed with flavor. The pork was cooked perfectly, and I loved the wrap. (5/5) Malay Captain's Curry - Tasty, though nothing mind-blowing. Nicely presented with classic flavors. Overall solid. (4/5) The Pink Mekong - Awesome dessert! It comes with the cool smoky effect, and they pour the pink coconut cream at the table. Really fun, a bit pricey, but kind of worth it. (5/5) Overall, as long as you're not expecting authentic Thai food, the dishes here are delicious. Both times I've visited, the service has been excellent, and I've always loved how the restaurant looks. Definitely worth coming at least once. Parking - You can pay around $5 at nearby lots, but after 6 pm you can park on the street. I parked across from the restaurant. read more

Went for dine LA and everything was delicious!! Highlights were the 2 whiskey cocktails, the salmon appetizer, and the steak main dish. Not sure if the steak is on their regular menu or if it was just for dine la but if you see it, order it! This trip was for Mother's Day 2026. There were two preset menus. One was a 7 course $300 menu for 4 and the other a 6 course $160 menu for 2. We had six people so we ordered one of each. The food and service were excellent but a bit rushed. A previous visit was not. Highly recommended! read more

I was in the area and wanted to swing by here to grab some take-out for home. They took over what used to be Roy's (I miss their chocolate cake!), and what they've done with the space is amazing. The place looks bigger and the decor is dark, moody and sexy. Beautiful space! Great ambiance for sure. Let's get to the food though. I ordered their appetizer platter ($22) and the lobster curry ($32). Upon getting home and unpacking, the appetizer platter looked underwhelming. $22 for this amount of food? Definitely not worth the value...but I also remember one of the reasons I got the platter was that it came with Som Tum salad...but I did not see any salad. And I love 10 miles away so there was no way I was going to drive back, and seemed a bit lame to call and complained I'm missing my papaya salad. Oh well...just had to chuck it up and move on. As for the lobster curry, it came with sliced baguette. Not something I'm used to as most places would give you a side of rice with curry. The lobster is served cut and out of the shell so it makes it easy to enjoy the lobster. The curry...to be honest...good but wasn't that flavorful and a bit underwhelming. Service is really good here though. From being greeted to placing my order and then getting my order...5/5 service. Food is overpriced. Not a lot of value - portions are small for the price. And keep in mind that the flavors are more Thai inspired vs. authentically Thai. If you're looking for a nice place to sit down and enjoy some Asian food, where you care more about the ambiance and service than the flavor of the food, this is a great spot. But for me, I value the taste of the food a bit more so not for me unfortunately. read more

I was walking down Colorado blvd when I noticed this place. I thought to myself, this looks oddly new because I've never seen the restaurant a day in my life. They had a sign outside claiming to have happy hour from 3pm-5pm, that took my interest. I love the ambiance, the decorum I should say. Very elegant, wonderful for a date night or a girls day. I sat at the bar and ordered me a glass of Chardonnay off the happy hour menu.. $6. They have a wide variety of cocktails, wines, as well as food. The food is very good. A gem of a restaurant with delicious food. Park in nearby structure before taking a walk to restaurant. Interior reminded me of Crazy Rich Asian vibes with all the green walls + short wait time + exceptional service. Mike was super attentive and made sure we were satisfied with our meal. Amazing service. Came to celebrate a relative visiting from out of town. Loved the special touches like the card and Polaroid photo we received at the end of dinner! I can tell the manager/owner loves kids. She had a big smile on her face and offered my kids lollipops as we were leaving and even helped us take a group photo outside with their birthday backdrop. I really enjoyed the appetizer spring rolls and egg rolls. Yellow curry was ok. It's a dish I normally order at regular Thai restaurants. Didn't taste like what I was expecting, not enough flavor for me. Cocktails were delicious. Overall, a great place to celebrate with friends or family given how upscale the vibe is compared to other Thai restaurants! read more

Went to Pasadena for family dinner and walked past the beautiful restaurant. Its fairly new and so happy we walked in. Fast and friendly service with several great dishes. Looking forward to go back with some friends as I know they will enjoy it. I can imagine how nice the patio would be in the summer. All the dishes were delicious full of flavor. Really would have loved to give this place 5 stars, but unfortunately have a second visit, which I happened to take within about 3 weeks of each other, I had to dock it one star and I'll explain the reasoning for that below. First let's talk about the restaurant itself. It's located on a corner along Colorado in Pasadena. I believe it used to be Roy's Hawaiian a while ago, but I can be mistaken. Anyways, the place is nice. There is an outside patio that has heaters, which would probably make for a beautiful dinner. Once you walk in a little more you are greeted with a little fountain and a photo-op. Once you step inside, you are greeted by the greeter's table and the inside decor, I would call somewhat "modern with an Asian twist". Now the food! I have tasted a good amount of the menu between my 2 visits here, but my favorites are as follows: The Royal Crown Fried Rice is a crowd favorite and I totally understand why. The texture and flavor in this fried rice is amazing. I love getting it and has easily become a go-to! 10/10 for sure. My second favorite is their Night Market Shichimi Tofu. If you like fried tofu, get this! And even if you don't, still get it! It's a softer tofu (So close to silken) and it just melts in your mouth. I could probably eat 2 plates of these...heck! Even 3! :) 10/10 for me! We had also ordered the Siam Beach Club eggrolls which were good, but nothing too crazy there, so I rated those a 8/10. The Thai Royal Curry was as expected, it was good, but it didn't really stand out as much as the other dishes. The flavor of the curry was there, but it was comparable to most. As for the mains, we have tried the Short Ribs and the Ribeye. The short ribs were good, as braised short ribs usually are. The flavor was really good and the cook on it was spot on. Gave this a 9/10. The ribeye was mediocre. It had a good cook on it, but nothing too outstanding about this dish, so we gave it an 8/10. I had also tried the pork collar (8.5/10) and mango sea bass (9/10) (did not have a picture), but those 2 were also good. Nothing on the many is BAD, I think they're all worth a taste, but I think what makes certain items on the menu pop out more than most is the creativity in the dishes. And not just in presentation, but texture and taste. I love an experience! Now why did I end up docking a whole star? Well, for my second visit, which was an early dinner during a weekday for my mother's bday, they did not have half of what I wanted to order for her. As we continued to order, the server tried their best to accommodate us, proposing other recommendations, running back and forth between the kitchen and our table to double check inventory for us, but again, 3 dishes that I really wanted my family to try was not available. We found that shocking given the type and quality restaurant we were in. After trying to help us, and getting all of our food out though, the server, we felt, kind of kept their distance. They did not frequent our table to make sure everything was alright. We assumed because they felt bad that the restaurant didn't have what we wanted, but it kind of left a bad taste in our mouths, especially because we celebrated my mom's birthday. I had to flag them down to see if there was anything special they could do for a birthday celebration. So there it is! The -1 star reasoning. I do see myself coming back again because I know the food is good, but I just pray I come on days where they have EVERYTHING because it is worth it. Anyways, Cheers, YELP fam! And Happy Eating! Ambiance is nice and the menu offers a fun mix of Southeast Asian fusion dishes. The tofu appetizer was one of my favorites. It was crisp on the outside and soft inside, with a flavorful dipping sauce that made it stand out. The baked oysters were also a hit. Rich and savory, they were cooked just right. The pineapple fried rice came with shrimp and squid, and had a great balance of sweet and savory. The ribeye was incredibly tender and smooth, definitely one of the more memorable dishes of the night. Service was slow, which was frustrating. Even though the restaurant was not busy, we waited about thirty minutes before anyone took our order. We were probably 1 of 3 tables in there. We finished with the mango sticky rice, which felt underwhelming. It came with two scoops of ice cream, a very tiny amount of mango, and a bit of black sticky rice at the bottom. It looked more like a sampler than a dessert. I usually don't expect or want ice cream with mango sticky rice - so I would skip this if you're not in a cold dessert mood. Parking was either street or valet, and I found street parking easily at night. Star Leaf is still worth a visit if you're in the area and craving something different. read more
We returned for a friend's birthday, and it was a great time again this year! I realized I forgot to review it the first time we came by, so I had to make sure I reviewed this time. Parking in this area is pretty rough - we did manage to find street parking this day, but I think we got validated parking last time (I think the validation was limited though, which is why we looked for street parking). Service was great here - our server checked on us often, and everything went pretty smoothly. It was also nice that their drink menu includes a few mocktail options that looked tasty! Now, for the food/drinks: -Mulled Apple Sour: tasted like it sounds? -Ume Old Fashioned: my partner seemed to enjoy it. He got the same thing last time! -Truffle Wok-Seared Noodle with Scallops: I don't eat scallops, so I can't speak to that, but the noodles were really good, especially with the truffle sauce they offered on the side. -Royal Crown Fried Rice: the people in our party really enjoyed this seafood fried rice. My partner mentioned how good it was, multiple times! -Braised Assorted Mushrooms: probably good for people who really enjoy mushrooms. I wasn't the biggest fan, but I also don't love mushrooms, so... -Madame Noi's Pork Collar: This was memorably tasty the first time, and we enjoyed it just as much this time! The flavor and texture of the pork is great, and the basil garlic dipping sauce is super good, too. -Grilled Lamb Chops: the lamb chops themselves were solid, but didn't love the cauliflower puree. -Crispy Duck Salad: I actually really enjoyed this! The textural contrast from the crispy duck was fun, and it was nice to have the freshness of the salad with our meal. Loved the flavors in this, too! -Malay Captain's Curry Chicken: this curry chicken was pretty good! Dipping the bread into the curry was tasty, and the chicken in the curry was pretty tender. This one was recommended by our waitress, and we're glad we took her recommendation! Overall, the experience was great, and there are a lot of tasty dishes here. read more

I'm long overdue for a review of Star Leaf. It's a (now not so new) Southeast Asian inspired fusion menu with authentic tasting food. The ambience can both be formal and lavish or casual and chill. So feel free to dress up or dress down, the staff are equally friendly and attentive. Great, personal customer service. Wet towel service is available if you need to refresh your face and hands before the meal. Decent vegetarian and vegan options. I appreciate that they rotate season items while also having some staple dishes. I've had the tofu appetizer, vegetable curry, string beans, crying tiger salad with tofu and the vegan kaprow wrap. They also have NA Asahi dry beer for those who are sober or lightweight with alcohol. Plenty of dessert options. Dessert options are mostly vegetarian, no vegan items (I don't think). Overall, I really enjoy coming to Star Leaf. It's fun to celebrate with friends on a special occasion or just grab a quick tasty bite by yourself in the relaxed patio. read more
Our group of friends celebrated NYE here and it was the perfect place. The food was amazing and we get to taste a selection of Thai and Japanese dishes. From the golden fried shrimp to the lamp chop and papaya salad, everything went RIGHT. Our server was friendly and had a huge smile on her face the whole night. We came in during lunchtime and it was not packed. Apparently prices and serving portions of their menu is bigger and a tad pricier than the lunch menu. We seated immediately since as I mentioned, it was not a packed day. It was in the middle of the week. The food was presentation and plating was done tastefully. The Summer wraps were filled with veggies the way I like it. I do not particularly like the rolled crispy wrap inside the summer roll. However, I do understand that this is the texture that you would be eyeing for considering the wrap are all soft and filled with vegetables. This wrap is very dependent on how the sauce has been paired up with which gives the significant flavor of the dish. I surprisingly like the shrimp roll on top of the crab rice. I actually enjoyed that very much. This is a dish that you should try. The shrimp and prawns and salmon again have been plated very well and elegantly. This restaurant is a must go to if you're in town a nice place to bring friends as well. Four solid stars for this restaurant. I hope to visit and try the other dishes next time I visit the Los Angeles Angeles Metro area. read more
