An amazing bar that has true essence of Little Five Points exuding from wall to wall. A hipster, trendy and alternative vibe with awesome people that truly shows an Atlanta that only the locals know.

Star Bar is like a little slice of Texas shithole dolloped right on the creamy center of Little 5 Points. Of course, that's the whole reason people go there: it should pretty much be your capital if you're into rockabilly/surf/swing/cowpunk/dives. They have a tiny dirty little stage where bands of such a nature play 6 days a week, through a very mediocre sound system. Again: this is what people go for. PBR and the potential fist fight and Johnny Cash on the jukebox and lots of grime. They even have a little altar to Elvis, fixed with tons of memorabilia, where you can pop your head in and pay tribute. That's not a joke. Star Bar definitely isn't my cup of tea. Mainly because sometimes I drink a cup of tea. Tea drinkers aren't allowed in Star Bar. You need at least two tattoos and an exwife. Or long hair (metal style, not pretty boy) and a leather vest. All that said, they have one of the best karaoke nights in Atlanta, simply because all the people who usually hang out there actually try to stand up drunk on stage and warble Judas Priest. It's frighteningly hilarious.

#Had so much fun here playing on stage, I don't remember much of what happened afterwards. I think there was a #dance party and some guy telling me he liked how I played, because it looked like I didn't practice.

You know what, I'm not going to leave a negative review because one guy was rude one night. I'll try to make friends next time.

There probably isn't a bar in the city that offers as breathtaking of a view as does Moonlight. The panorama of all three of Atlanta's skyscraper centers is clearly visible, along with the historical architecture of Ponce City Market. The crowd is mix of tourists and locals in their 20s and 30s. The cocktails are solid. Food is decent, nothing to rave about, but again, hopefully nobody is here for the food. The lobster roll was very bread heavy and the useless dab of caviar was just a wasteful decoration. Yet, the atmosphere of the place, situated in the beautiful Forth hotel makes Moonlight an incredible spot for drinks.

Please do not expect a full dinner but there are great options to keep the night going. I was kinda sad that both myself and my friend were celebrating our birthday but because we were the same table, we could only get one glass of champagne. It does get crowded and I really suggest making a reservation. I made one and even still it took ages to get a table. A reservation doesn't promise a table right away but keeps you in an active queue. I can't wait to go back again.

They hold a jazz night every Tuesday with live music for a nice chill, yet fun, vibe. Just a warning, the space inside is pretty small--typically there's optional seating outside, but it's really chilly at the moment (although they have heaters)--but there's more seating downstairs in The Victorian Atlanta plant shop. I didn't realize that the two were connected! FYI, if you sit downstairs, you'll be seated next to where the live music performers will be playing, so it will be louder there. As for the drinks, I tried the Zombie. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one instead of trying a different one! It tasted sweet and slightly tropical with the rum and spiced liqueur. It also had some absinthe, which I was worried about when I first ordered it since I hate the taste of it (not a big fan of black licorice flavors), but I didn't taste it at all! Overall, this place had such a great vibe to it!

The bartender named Jack was sweet and entertaining considering it was a slow night. He flirted a lot with my friend and it was a silly moment. We went back to enjoy a night out again before heading home the next day and Jack was there again. Because my friend had had such a good time chatting with him before she flirted back a little bit and was just enjoying the night. We ordered food and drinks and things were going well. Throughout the night Jack and my friend would sneak off and talk and make out while he was on the clock. None of this mattered to me because who cares, it's a bar, we're young and just having a bit of fun. However after we left the bar he texted my friend that it was "messed up" we only tipped 15% on our $193 bill claiming he "took care of so much" for us. I'm not even sure what that means because again - our bill for that night was almost $200. The food was amazing - I need the salsa recipe STAT - but overall the bartender ended up being kind of a jerk that seemed like he was just doing all this to get laid. Earlier this week (mind you it's July) I went back to give this place a second chance and the bartender mentioned before - JACK - was asked by one of my friends if we could get green tea shots and he felt it appropriate to confront me about this review. I apologized if my math was wrong because he claimed i only tipped 13% & not 15% was constantly saying "20% is standard" (not true but whatever) and then when i said he claimed to take care of so much HE claimed the bill should've been $250 and then said "but i understand your white entitlement lets you think you can do whatever" (idk i blacked out with rage after "white entitlement") MIND YOU you i'm half chinese not that it matters, jack - cause i know you're reading this - & i of course got heated because HES ALSO WHITE so clearly HIS white entitlement lets him think he can be hateful to patrons for reviews regardless of wether or not they try to take ownership of their faults. Needless to say the staff here is awful and I will NEVER come back to this bar so enjoy that win, Jack.

We ordered the lemon pepper buffalo wings, buffalo wings, and Korean bbq buffalo wings and a side of fries. Our favorite was the buffalo wings. It had the right balance of juiciness and flavor. I wouldn't recommend the Korean bbq wings since it didn't have enough tangyness to it and didn't stand out. The French fries are a must order. The fries were so crunchy, and they were still crunchy even towards the end when we were almost finished eating. We arrived 30 minutes before they opened on a Friday and there were already people waiting in the lot which was crazy! It started raining while we were waiting in line and the line got even longer. There is some seating inside and outside the bar. We got there early enough to swipe a table. There were people standing and waiting for a table while waiting for their orders. Service was excellent! I went to Highland Tap for the first time in probably 20 or so years - I first visited back in the early 90's when I lived in L5P. Some friends wanted to meet here for their Monday Night Prime Rib special - you get a very generous 10 oz prime rib cooked to order with one side. It was interesting and very nostalgic to return to this restaurant/bar that seems to have withstood the ravages of time. The interior is rustic with exposed wooden beams and wood tables - very masculine and old-school and something you rarely see or experience in the 2020s much less in 2026. We were seated without a wait (4 in the party). The dining room first greets you with a bar to the left with the room extending, essentially following the lines of the connected buildings above. There are stairs that lead down to additional seating that's a bit more private all the way in back - it's an interesting space with stained-glass windows. I can't go over the menu as I was singularly focused on the prime rib, something I haven't enjoyed in ages. We were given a sliced Ciabatta with butter. After ordering drinks (Sweetwater 420 for me along with wine and a cocktail) we all started with the French Onion Soup (we called it FOS back in the day) - this was made pretty much exactly as I learned to make it, served in a crock with a floating crouton covered with melted cheese. The flavor was delightful and once again very nostalgic - I do wish there was a bit more caramelization on the onions - but still very satisfying. All four of us got the Prime Rib special with various sides (loaded baked potato, brussels sprouts and for me the sauteed mushrooms). I ordered mine rare and indeed it was. It was a serious cut of meat and well worth the $20. Service was fantastic - I didn't get the chap's name but he was a frequent visitor to make sure our water bottle was replaced and to ensure out needs were met. Great experience.
