I must say it was a place we stumbled upon coming from out of town and looking for a day vibe. The atmosphere was really chill but a vibe. Hookah was reasonable and the wings were really good. My friends and I sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and friendly. Hate I don't remember her name. Would definitely return the next time in town.

I ordered a few plates and let the night happen. Went with the lobster tartlets, salt & pepper shrimp, and tuna rice cakes. If there's seafood on the menu, you already know I'm going to find it. #stlouispescatarianapproved The menu leans into Asian inspired small plates, which makes it fun to try a few different things instead of committing to one entree. The crispy rice tuna and salt & pepper shrimp are right in my wheelhouse. Add the music and cocktail lounge atmosphere, and you have a solid spot for a night out in Midtown. I love a restaurant that gives you more than just a meal.

I showed confirmation of a reservation and she said they'll TRY seating us shortly. She also mentioned that this is not the first time it happened today with reservations not showing on t. "There's nothing we can do" The reservation not showing is not my fault, but it's their problem to correct it. Around 10:05 the hostess said we'd be seated in 5 minutes. 10:20 came around and we asked to speak with the manager who walked out many times, but did not speak with us. At 10:30 we were still not seated... they tried seating us at a tiny high top table that is not made for 3 people. Lastly the validated parking lot attached: parking is validated for 2 hours. We asked for longer validation because of their reservation error, the code did not work. Long story short I was mailed a $100 ticket that will not be paid. I really wanted to love this place! The food and our waitress were the saving grace. But the reservation error, waiting time and parking ticket was enough problems for me.

Although the name doesnt match the decor or the theme, Its a cocktail bar located in the heart of the city. Street parking can be easy to find, especially if you come on the right day. I came here on a Monday after work and it honestly was the perfect day to experience the place. For my first cocktail, I had the Tres Lychee which was floral based drink. I loved it! I tasted strawberry notes with a hint of marshmallow. 10/10. Would order again. And there's a piece of lychee candy in the glass to finish it off. For my 2nd cocktail, I ordered the Vice Highball. It wasn't as great as the 1st one tho. The ingredients sold me. Heavy on the orange flavor. There's ample seating at the bar, high tops and tables outside. And the staff is very attentive. I will definitely be back.

It feels like somewhere you could bring a date, meet a friend, or do exactly what I did and enjoy your own company. Honestly, I think more people should get comfortable taking themselves out. Not every dinner or cocktail needs to be a group activity. Sometimes it's nice to sit quietly, observe everyone else's evening, catch up on the news, and just exist without an agenda. Was I on a date night? Technically, yes. The date just happened to be me. And honestly? Solid evening.

Whew, I hadn't been to the Vortex since my college days 5-6 years ago. For nostalgia's sake, this…read morewas the second stop I made on the "Atlanta Streets Alive" stroll. I didn't feel like drinking before walking in but the service once I sat down at the bar made it hard not to partake... twas excellent! They had hella specials on a Sunday evening, many of which I can't remember currently but were expertly recited by our main bartender. Now I DO remember that their well drinks were on special for $6 because that's the deal that I thoroughly enjoyed for my 2-ish hour stay ;) The ambience is very grown (21+ thank GOD) but also quirky af! I didn't notice the giant lucky pen*s for a minute even though I was seated directly in front of it at the bar LOL. They host a shot challenge at its base that requires "no hands" and they really go out of the way to get everyone involved when folks are proving their.... skills. It's fun to watch but also nerve-wracking! The environment is lively (but not loud) and dive-y and the playlist was SOOO good with great song diversity, from My Chemical Romance to T-Pain to the Isley Brothers. It was the perfect nightcap. Now the food that we ordered this night was not overwhelmingly good but certainly not bad. To be fair, this spot is known for their burgers and neither of my party got one this time around. But the half salad I got was GIANT, so big that I had to double check with the food runner that it was indeed a half. Filled me right up for the low-low. The husband wanted to opt for something lighter too and got their Cuban sandwich with plantain... nowhere near authentic, but good enough for the moment. He's a certified Caribbean and thought the plantain was actually not bad, so there's that. The prices are reasonable. What takes this place up a notch is the clear organization to their operations, the way the team works and communicates together to strive for efficiency in service, and the neighborhood familiarity that this Atlanta institution emanates. I previously only when to the Vortex in L5P which has now shuttered I believe. It was a completely different vibe. But I have a feeling this spot is immovable. It is truly a neighborhood gem to meet up and have strong, affordable drinks and bomb ass burgers... next time I'll be sure to dabble in the latter. Sidenote: bathrooms were pretty decent and clean for a busy bar environment... I was surprised!

I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time, only tables left when we got there if you didn't have a reservation were outside or seats at the bar. Food was eh. I got the chicken and waffles and the chicken was very well-seasoned and tasty but the waffles were kinda soft and very plain and underwhelming. My friend didn't like the potato side with the basic b breakfast. Our drinks were great though! $20 bottomless also seems like a great deal. Overall: super fun, high energy brunch spot that I suggest making a reservation for ahead of time but food is not great.

The overall energy was extremely negative and unwelcoming. The hostess was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Despite several open tables, she insisted that my friend and I could only sit at a bar tucked away in a dark corner. Her attitude was so unpleasant that we initially decided to leave. However, another patron noticed us outside and invited us back in through the side entrance. We ended up finding an open table, although it was wobbly, and decided to just order drinks from the bar. The bartender brought our drinks and the bill, which we paid in cash. Interestingly enough, the receipt mentioned a discount for paying in cash, yet the bartender never returned with our change. At one point, a waitress approached our table with waters, but as soon as we mentioned that we'd already paid the bartender, she turned around and walked away with them. The whole interaction felt incredibly tacky and left me wondering whether she assumed she wouldn't be receiving a tip. To make matters worse, I personally witnessed the same hostess taking multiple shots at the bar before returning to her position. Given how she had treated us earlier, that certainly didn't improve my impression of the establishment. The one positive was the DJ, who was actually really good! Unfortunately, the music wasn't enough to make up for the poor hospitality and unprofessional behavior we experienced. Overall, the atmosphere felt extremely low vibrational, and the customer service was disappointing from beginning to end. I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience, and I have no plans to return.
