Visiting from California and our local family brought us here. We had fried okra, tater tots, and wings. Wait was long, so was the food wait. I was ok with it because it built anticipation. There's tvs and they were watching the futbol game, so vibes were high. I enjoyed this dive bar.
So I was chastised and shamed because I am an Atlanta native and had not yet been to this place (insert Game of Thrones shame shame shame here). So, I finally had the opportunity to stop by this famous establishment. First of all, they open at 5. There are people literally waiting in their cars in the parking lot for them to open at 5. The wings sell out everyday. I say all this to say, you need to get there early. This is not one of those just drop in whenever joints. This is very much a dive bar and there is nothing special about it. I will say if you are trying to come with friends y'all better come together otherwise yall won't be doing anything together. Now, on to the reason why I was here- the infamous wings. The positives-They come out hot and fresh; you can tell they are oven baked and not fried; there are several flavors for you to try; and the food came out quick. I tried lemon pepper because that is the baseline for me when it comes to new wing spots. I'm not a fan of dry rubs so the taste was just okay to me. I will most likely need to go back to try another flavor to give a more accurate assessment but I will say I may have been spoiled by the whole lemon pepper wet thing so again, that created a bias for me. The local is near my job so I will come back and visit on another day and try another flavor just to give a full assessment.
Limited parking in the back, so get here early if possible. Place opens at 5, but there will be a line at 4:30. ID NEEDED to enter so don't forget! Service is curt but nice. The ambiance is what you'd expect in a dive bar: grungy, dim lighting, neon signs, perfect for a night out with drinks! We came because a friend highly recommended the wings and it did not disappoint. They have very unique flavors and we wanted to try them all, lemon pepper buffalo, Korean buffalo, jerk lemon pepper, and the scorpion buffalo. We also got the side of okra and it absolute slaps! Unique wing flavors with a cool vibe, I strongly recommend!
If you're looking for a great place to grab some wings, this place is a must-visit! I got here on a Friday at 6 pm (they open at 5pm) and I had to wait in line outside. Once I got inside, the line for wings was at the door, and the line for drinks was also quite long. All the tables were taken, which made sense considering the crowd. However, once I finally got a table and some wings, I was pleasantly surprised. The wings were fall-off-the-bone meat packed with flavor. I got ranch on the side, which was creamy and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place, but be prepared to ask around for a table and wait in some lines. Also, keep in mind that the restaurant only makes a certain amount of wings a day, so get there before they're gone!
Recently went with a group of friends that have been hyping their Wings up and they did not disappoint. We got there about an hour before they opened since we were told they usually have a line before they open (at 5pm) and sure enough they had a line but it wasn't until like 4:45pm. I would recommend coming around 4:30pm at the earliest. Bring your iD! It's required or they won't let you in. Service was meh but its a bar so it's some what expected. They also don't do togo so don't ask but you can always order extras and pack them togo afterwards (they will give you a sleeve to pack them). We were the first in line to order and the food came out relative quick especially with the line they had. I would highly recommend paying the $1 more for the sauce combo wings. We ordered 10 Lemon Pepper Buffalo, 10 Jerk buffalo, 10 Korean Lemon Pepper, and the BBQ + Sun Dried Tomato and they were decently sized and delicious. Also ordered a side of fried okra and they were super crispy! I would highly recommend coming early cause they do sell out hours before they close!
Remember it's not a wing place! But, the wings dare I say we're the best I've ever had. Really cool dive bar ! The vibes are great. I'd recommend getting there around 4:30 so you can get a place to sit and get to try their wings. They will sell out! Overall top tier.
Omg I can't believe I haven't gone to this place before! Finally came here on a Friday with a group of friends but don't be fooled it's packed. Luckily we caught a group leaving and we got a booth but it is tight in there!! It's worth it. First of all, cheap beer. PBR pitchers and only a couple bucks. Then the food is also cheap. I got the 10 piece wings and a side of fries to share with fries and omg I thought I could handle 10 pcs but it was so much food. These are the biggest wings I've ever found in Atlanta. I got the lemon pepper dry rub and would do wet next because it was a tad salty but still amazing and the ranch was great and fries were seasoned also. A stunning experience and an excellent dive bar atmosphere with delicious food
Was so happy excited to visit this spot after seeing posts on social media and then seeing another influencer rating it as the top wing spot out of 10 other spots. Finding the location was easy and parking is available at no cost along the sides and back of the building. Unfortunately, when attempting to place an order for the infamous wings, we were told that they were out of wings and...cheese and ...the chicken sandwiches. We were offered hotdogs. When I asked what happened, the lady shared it was due to the folks in town for the Beyoncè concert. I mean I get it...kinda...but man we were ready to tear up some wings and have a chill evening. The guy in line behind me heard that they were out and recommended another wing spot to me that wasn't too far away. I'd try again if I'm in town again.
I absolutely love love loved my experience at the local. I first went here years ago and thought it closed down so I didn't go for a very long time, but my friend recently told me about it so I decided to come with my cousin who is here from out of town and it was a great experience. This place is known for its karaoke on Mondays and it did not disappoint. It definitely is a different experience compared to most places you can go to for karaoke because they have a full stage with stage effects and it's overall just a great ambience and vibe. The songs that people choose are great songs to sing along to and are often times funny too, and it is a dive bar so you can definitely dress very casual here, but still expect a really good karaoke and really really good vibes. I would definitely recommend this to anybody specifically on Monday night.
BEST WINGS I'VE EVER HAD. And that's saying a lots smoked and then flash fried is the way to go and very unique flavors! Definitely worth the long line and the price
Parking here is very tight. I got lucky with finding a spot right up front. I feel like people come to this bar to grab a few drinks with friends and then leave. This is not one of those bars where people stay all night. This is truly a dive bar. Nothing special about the decor. I have no problem with the layout or furniture. They do check IDs for you to get into the establishment. You will get full service at the bar but everywhere else requires you to go to the bar or ordering station to place an order. You also have to pick up your food regardless of where you placed the order. They have games like darts and a few TVs. Patio area is outside. People out there looked happy. This place has some of the best beer prices I have seen in a while. I was able to get a PBR and Miller High Life tall boy for $3 each. They have quite a few beers on draft but I didn't really pay attention to them. You get the menu through QR code so there is that. The beers are posted on chalk boards around the bar. They have cocktails in a can. They do not make cocktails at the bar. They only do shots of alcohol and a chaser. I like this. It keeps things simple and moving fast. Wings are quite tasty. You can tell they are oven baked wings. I got 1/2 and 1/2. The buffalo-lemon pepper didn't taste much like lemon pepper nor was it hot but it was good enough. Spicy Korean was very good. I probably will not return to this bar. I would happily come here often if it was close to me but there is no reason to travel for this venue. The service was good and fast. The food was decent. I feel like I can get this everywhere. Something I did dislike. This place is not very welcoming for individuals. People are pretty much sticking to their own group. I saw a man get his seat stolen when he got up to get his food. Best to come with a party.
Got there 15 minutes before they opened, there was a line but nothing crazy. Once I got in and ordered, the wings took no longer than 10 minutes. Great wings, I recommend the sun dried tomato bbq wings and of course cannot go wrong with Buffalo lemon pepper. Also got the tots which I enjoyed, they were light with a nice crunch, not too greasy.
I had heard about the Local for a while regarding their wings. I had mild buffalo and the lemon pepper rub. I think honestly they were decent. If this is your local choice I understand but for all the hype it may have set unrealistic expectations. They're not bad but not the best I've had in ATL.

Walked up around 20 min before opening on a Sunday and were the second people in line, but the line quickly grew after that. Went straight to order while the husb nabbed a table. Ordered 10 wings: half buffalo-lemon pepper/half lemon pepper, 5 wings in Korean-buffalo with a side of chili cheese fries, and 2 Coors Banquets (cuz we're classy like that. Food came out probably 15 min after and I was ready to dig in. These wings were pretty hyped and with anything popular, I'm always worried I'm going to be disappointed. But OMG these wings are worthy of their hype. The flavor of their sauces is incredible and they hit that desired balance of crispy and juicy. The meat falls off the bone. Tell you what, I'll definitely be back. I've also heard great things about their karaoke nights so that's going on my list as well read more

Let me just start by saying - Are these the best wings I've ever had? I wouldn't say so but they're pretty good. The wings were all well seasoned, and even the dry rub wings didn't taste dry. It tasted tender and juicy and I've never experienced that before with dry rub wings. We ordered the lemon pepper buffalo wings, buffalo wings, and Korean bbq buffalo wings and a side of fries. Our favorite was the buffalo wings. It had the right balance of juiciness and flavor. I wouldn't recommend the Korean bbq wings since it didn't have enough tangyness to it and didn't stand out. The French fries are a must order. The fries were so crunchy, and they were still crunchy even towards the end when we were almost finished eating. We arrived 30 minutes before they opened on a Friday and there were already people waiting in the lot which was crazy! It started raining while we were waiting in line and the line got even longer. If you're planning to try The Local, I would recommend coming on a regular weekday or come earlier if you're coming on the weekend because the line is crazy. There is some seating inside and outside the bar. We got there early enough to swipe a table. There were people standing and waiting for a table while waiting for their orders. Service was excellent! Tables are first come first serve. Plenty of parking in the back parking lot. I wouldn't wait in the rain for this but it was definitely worth a try! read more

I was recommended The Local for great chicken wings in Atlanta, but I never expected how popular and crowded it was. We arrived there exactly at 5 PM, when it opens, but there was already a pretty extensive line. A little outside the entrance, they check your ID, which I had no idea was a thing. So make sure you have your IDs with you and are 21+. There's a bar area for drinks and a separate counter where you will order and pay for your food. (They make it pretty explicit that you can't get wings to-go.) Find a seat, and once your food is ready, they'll announce your name, and you pick up your food from the window. FOOD: We got wings in the flavors of lemon pepper (dry rub), sun-dried tomato (dry rub), buffalo lemon pepper (wet), and jerk buffalo (wet). I will say that I definitely preferred the wet wings to the dry wings. I found the dry wings to be a little too salty. In my opinion, the wings and the cook on them were just okay. I wasn't blown away or anything. Maybe the relatively cheap beer and the vibes help draw in all the appeal. TLDR// I don't think I had the greatest wings of all time here, but the vibes were really casual and pleasant. I'm glad I was able to try a place so beloved by locals. read more

Exactly what I wanted from a wing spot. The wings and peanuts were phenomenal and I couldn't think of a single complaint about them - let the photo show how we felt about them - we couldn't get enough. The people working were super friendly and couldn't have been nicer. It's definitely a sport to try and get a table here as that would be my biggest complaint - the aggressiveness of other patrons in stealing tables and trying to save them definitely threw me off a bit, but I totally understand that's the vibe of the place. The ambience is that of a dive bar meets a wing spot, which is exactly what it should be for some great wings. There's no doubt in my mind next time I'm in Atlanta I'll hit up the Local. read more

The place was full and loud when we went - it's definitely popular. I tried the sun dried tomato wings and they were really good. My colleague who was visiting from England said these were the best wings he has ever had. Depending on the time and day, you might not find a table. read more

Went to the Local with a few friends to catch up on a Saturday night. To my surprise there was a line out the door when I arrived. This was my first time here I got wings as everyone recommended. I got 10 wings and a side. 5 Korean wings and 5 Korean-Lemon Pepper wings. The wings were great, perfectly cooked and the sauces/rubs were tasty. My husband and I shared fries and tater tots. The fries were as expected but the tater tots were surprisingly good, as they were crispy and well seasoned. Just noting here that this place is 21+ and smoking is allowed outside so just be mindful of that. read more

Best wings in Atlanta. Amazing flavors and always cooked to perfectly. Fries and tots are average but the fried okra is phenomenal. Only reason for 4 stars is the wait can get pretty bad, sometimes over a hour. Seating is super limited. $17 for wings is pricey but they make up for it in size. (That's what she said) read more

Of course I had to see what all the hype was about. I had a party of 2 and we arrived around 7:30/8pm on a Friday. The place was still full so while we mulled over the menu, I was staking out a table. We were lucky enough to snag a booth. (You order up front and seat yourself) We ordered 3 different flavors of wings and all were delicious! Also got the loaded fries and those were yummy as well. I can't remember how many wings we got, somewhere around 20. That plus the fries was enough for us ladies to have some leftovers to take home. Parking: small private lot that's a bit tight. There's also some street parking if you don't mind a walk. read more

We went for some wings and beer after work of course, the place was packed but all the patrons seemed to be generally friendly and we were able to eventually grab a booth! The vibe is definitely young and fun and the staff are really chill. The wings were good! So much so that I wasn't fast enough to grab a picture before it was all 3 big piles of bones. We didn't have time to try The Local last time we were in Atlanta, so we made sure to come right after we landed. We came around 7:30 PM and managed to find parking, but the place was packed. We waited in line for ~15 minutes to be let in, and then spent ~10 minutes in line to order. The cashier was super friendly and gave me some recommendations. I ordered the boiled peanuts, fried okra, an order of lemon pepper wet wings, and an order of the tomato BBQ wings. There's no table service, so you pick up your tray at a counter by the cashier area. The bar itself is a dimly lit, local dive; a lot of people were here to watch a Braves game (? lol I know nothing about sports). Everyone who recommended The Local to us was right--best wings we've had in Atlanta so far. The boiled peanuts were spicy and salty, and the fried okra was nice and crispy. I am historically not a barbecue sauce fan, but the combo of the umami tomato/ketchup with barbecue sauce was excellent. The lemon pepper wet wings were good--not as wet as I would've wanted them, but still up there among the best wings of Atlanta. Makes J.R. Crickets look like absolute garbagé. We were stuffed at the end but managed to clear it all. Good way to start our trip. read more
So let me just thought about saying that the local has some of the best wings in the A (I say this with confidence and pride). Now I know that's a really good breakfast place Atlanta is really built for lemon pepper wings and things like that. But I have traversed to city many days and nights, and it's definitely top five wings. Let me set the tone for it, it's definitely like a dive bar situation. Dark and a little big grungy but has a very rustic tone to it. Nothing fancy or nothing special about it, it's just a regular old dive bar. You may get shots in a glass are you making shots in a Dixie, is that kind of place. So don't expect fancy fine dining when you come your mind. It is definitely not that kind of vibe. They have a few TVs if you wanted to come for that. They have a small outside so if it's nice, you can sit at the outdoor bar area. If you want to come right after work you may have to wait a little bit cuz they don't know about to 5:00 most days. Some days you can't actually get wings, because they have live entertainment or something going on but you just have to call and see I guess. Food wise, Everything that I have tried. Lemon pepper... Solid. Jerk... Solid. Tika marsala... Solid. Korean BBQ ... Solid. They haven't missed to me yet. Its also to note, that since I wrote this, they underwent some changes to the building so now they are supposed to be better and I cant wait to stop by and find out. read more

Visit Date: Nov. 4, 2022 & Oct. 30, 2024 As you could see from the dates, I've visited The Local twice already! And each time was exactly the same: the wings were BOMBASTIC! I was fortunate enough to have a friend show me this place and knew how the place worked. (Ie: you have to be 21+, the wings sell out each day, and expect it to be busy). The ambiance is exactly how you expect it to be once you see it from the outside. Once you walk through those doors, it gives off your typical dive-bar Since my most recent visit, they went away from having wait staff serve you at a table to a DIY style, order at the counter, and pick it up once your name is called. I found this to be more efficient as long as you order everything you need initially. (Since the lines could be very long!) However, if you do plan on visiting the Local, I HIGHLY suggest having an earlier dinner over the weekends and or visiting during the weekdays. This way you could enjoy easily finding a spot and having your meal prepped quickly. Now onto the wings... I was skeptical when their menu said that they sell out each night, but after having a bite of each flavor, I completely understood why! These have been one of the best wings I've had throughout the country! The wings were super tender, juicy, and crispy. Additionally, I did not find them to be overly greasy either, which is such a huge plus! The Local offers a handful of dry rubs and sauced up options - and they're all worth trying. My friends and I used the Divide and Conquer method. We split 30 wings, 10 per order but with 2 different flavors. This way we were able to try 6 different tastes! You may be wondering about the sides as well by now. I've only gotten the elote cup, it's good, but not outstanding. I was still happy to eat it though! (I'm from Chicago and have been spoiled by some incredibly Mexican street foods there- that's why my take is a bit biased). I'm sure the other sides The Local offers are good too, but I wouldn't bother. Just go for their wings! TL;DR: If you're ever in ATL, you best visit! Made my way down to the local tonight. This restaurant is a first come first serve, seat yourself establishment. Come with a partner so one person can secure a seat and the others can order. Parking lot is tight but you should find a spot eventually. I tried the wings of course due to a tik tok recommendation. The three flavors I tried were Korean bbq, jerk dry rub and lemon pepper. I would recommend the jerk dry rub. The blue cheese and the ranch taste like they are made in house so that's a plus. It comes with no fries, celery or carrots but the wings are filling on their own. The beer prices were great at $4 a can and ten wings will put you back $17. 1/2 and 1/2 flavor makes it $18 for 10. It's pretty loud in here with music and chatter so I wouldn't come on a first date but with people you've know for a while this is good. We've been waiting awhile to go to The Local and it's unfortunate they don't allow takeout. But these wings were worth going in person and eating fresh. It was cooked to perfection and I find it hard to find another spot in Atlanta that has as good of wings and sauce. Hot spot dive bar known for wings! I visited on a Friday night to checkout the wings for myself. We joined the long line which quickly moved with the assistance of the cool security guard. Upon entering, you gotta quickly scope the room to claim your own table/spot to eat. Outside seating is also available. We befriend a couple and quickly scooped their seats at the bar once they left. Stand in yet another line to order your food. I got lemon pepper wings and had high expectations after being told and reading reviews that these were "the best wings in town." Well...the must have forgotten to sprinkle the lemon pepper on my order...lol. I could barely taste the lemon pepper seasoning and my wings were fried hard making it difficult to even enjoy without worrying about my teeth with every bite. Free parking is available in the lot behind the building- it's tight so be careful how you park. The service from the bartenders was also cool. Despite the busy night, the wait for our food wasn't too bad. Definitely come here for the dive bar vibe experience. The verdict is still out for "the best wings" in ATL, but The Local didn't make my list for the top ranking. read more

One the OG wing spots in Atlanta, a true gem. Once they're sold out for the night, they're sold out for the night. Wings are solid. They're juicy and there is a variety of flavors to choose from. Also a fan of the tots. If you haven't been and are in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by this dive bar. Just don't be overwhelmed with the swarm of peeps. There are 2 lines, one to make your food order (you can order some drinks here but choices are limited) and one to make your drink order from the bar. On top of that, seating is first come first serve so I recommend splitting up food, drink and table duties - pouncing on a table as soon as you can lol. Vibes are the same as any other dive bar. There's limited parking out back, but there is a private parking lot at least. Oh! And last thing... don't forget your ID. They card at the door and my husband had to drive all the way back to EAV to get it lol. Lucky for him his wings were waiting for him when he got back. read more

Is the kitchen open on Mondays?
They have a pop up kitchen on Mondays with a different menu every week. So no wings.
Are there any vegan friendly options? Most recent menu is from 3 years ago
They have tofu sandwiches and veggie dogs.
When is karaoke? Do they have it on weekends?
I haven't known them to do karaoke on the weekends however I want to say Wednesday is karaoke and Thursday is Trivia
What happened to the wings? There's a sign on the door that they don't have wings!
They do run out. They are baked everyday. I have only run into the problem a few times. Best in Atlanta, don't tell anyone.
When does the kitchen close?
Sunday- Wednesday 11pm. Thursday-Saturday is midnight.
