Went Sunday night 7/19 around 9pm. Bar was not crowded and we attempted to order drinks. Bartender was visibly intoxicated and asked us several times for our drinks orders. Eventually, another bartender poured our drinks. The original bartender could not operate the register to charge us for the drinks. After 15 minutes of him struggling, he had the register turned on and was about to charge me for an order that wasn't mine. I tell him that, he says hold on, he tries to charge my card. I demand he hand me back my credit card , he doesnt hand it back and starts calling me a dumbass. I tell the other bartender he needs to give me my card back. This drunk bartender starts cursing at me, comes around the bar and lays his hands on me. The bartender was a short, overweight, latino man. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and walked me through the menu, convincing me to give the food a try. I'm glad she did, because it was far better than I expected. Ok - Expected Better for the History An average dive bar in Atlanta, where you can meet locals. There is lots of pool tables, arcade games, darts, great live music, and food available. Unfortunately the food was the downfall for this place, it was greasy, unimaginative, and out of a packet. I wouldn't eat here again, but would stop by for a drink or some live music. ***LOCATION*** I liked this spot for the location. It was only a 20min walk from my boyfriend's place, so we just walked there, which is a plus. No need for an Uber, and there were sidewalks everywhere. ***ATMOSPHERE*** There were lots of people, enough to make it not empty which was good, but at the same time it wasn't overly crowded. Lots of young people our age, but the music was not the best. It was a lot of outdated songs not quite old enough to be bringing back yet haha. I would have loved to have some new songs, better transitions and remixes. It just wasn't really the vibe. It was a live DJ though, so there could be potential. The lighting and all was cool and the layout wasn't bad so honestly just a few better songs would be perfect! They might have different Djs on different nights, so we will have to try again another night! ***STAFF*** This was really the only issue for me. We went to get a beer from the bar on the dance floor, it was a very mini bar, smaller than the main one, so I imagine they didn't have all the same drinks. We had already ordered a drink just before at the main bar, so I wasn't sure if they had beers or just cocktails/shots at this one, as I could only see liquor bottles. We stood there forever and the bartender ignored us. I know bars get busy and this is common, but the part that I couldn't believe is when she finally acknowledged us and she said "what?" and I said "could we get two beers please?" and she said "which ones?" and I said "What do you have? or honestly, just the cheapest one is fine." because I had no idea what they had and I am not very picky, we just wanted one more drink before leaving. We had already ordered cocktails when we got there and didn't want to spend a lot on beers, especially since we weren't staying much longer. Without any kind of menu or signage we had no idea what there was. There was clearly no beer on tap at this counter either, so I was assuming they just had a few bottles, and if I am drinking a bottle of beer, pretty much any kind they have would be fine. Anyways, after saying that, she exhaled loudly and just left and went to the next guy standing by us at the bar and asked what he wanted and proceeded to serve him... she just completely ignored us. We were just wanting one beer with no preference and had no idea what they had, so rather than having her list them all, I just said the least expensive will do. We were not trying to be an inconvenience or anything and just felt kind of bad about how she responded to us. We were pretty upset, but maybe she was just having a bad night, so we still went back over to the main bar and again tried ordering 2 beers. There was a guy behind the bar and he was like I got you! and I think it was only like 4$ and I think it was Bud Light, I honestly can't remember, but that is a very reasonable price! He was so polite and of course we left a tip too, but we always do at the bar no matter the drink of course. ***BATHROOMS*** Half of them were out of order, so not the best, but bar bathrooms never really are so what can you say haha ***CONCLUSION*** Honestly the place has a lot of potential! The layout and lighting and all is cool and the prices are pretty reasonable. I have been wanting to visit Smith's since moving to Atlanta, and finally got the chance the other day. We had so much fun! The atmosphere is a fun mix of dive bar and crowded college bar, with band memorabilia all over the walls. I am leaving five stars because Smith's has so many little aspects that make it unlike any other bar I've been to - from the wild vending machine (pictured) to the music venue to the cute photo ops to the food they serve. I only tried a bit of a friend's Smithadilla, so I will be updating my review once I get a chance to try some more of the food. So fun - can't wait to be back! read more

People usually come here to hang out, have a few drinks, play pool, or see a show, however I decided to come for dinner and the food was shockingly great! We shared wings, quesadilla, and chicken tenders - all were super flavorful. The wings and tenders were crispy, yet perfectly tender. Came here last night with some friends. They had live music which was fun. It wasn't too crowded since it was a Tuesday evening. It's a large place and they have outdoor seating available. We parked in the parking lot across the street since there didn't seem to be much parking there. We got food which was really good! The chicken sliders, fries and quesadilla were all good. They have pool inside as well and some other games on the outdoor patio. read more

This is one of those bars with dark atmospheres that if it's your first time, it wouldn't give you the impression of being the cleanest of bars. But the bartenders are nice and helpful. The music shows are great because it feels way more intimate than a CONCERT. You have the artist right in front of you and you can interact with him. That's great. One thing was that the same drink was more expensive in the 2nd floor where the show was than downstairs. Don't make sense to me. read more

The venue for the show itself was super small, but cozy. I would go back for another show, but probably wouldn't eat there since the food looked to be lackluster. Fun place to hang out while waiting for a show. There are two little venues attached to listen to music there. One is upstairs, and one to the side of the stairs. When you get there, if you're there for a musician/band, there's not a whole lot of information on where to go or anything like that, just a sign pointing to the stairwell and straight for the smaller area, or up the stairs for the larger, staged area. My ticket said show at 9, so I got there about 8:30ish to get in, learn my way around, and secure my spot. Turns out that it's 9pm that they open the stairwell to get to the band. Then another half hour before anything starts. Oh, and there's an opening band so then that's an even later start time than you may have been imagining. If you've hired a babysitter, make sure they know you're going to have a late night! I ended up having to leave early (not due to a babysitter, just needed to get up crazy early the next day), and couldn't hear for almost two days afterward. I'm used to loud, live music, but the space is so small that it just reverberates in your ears! Overall, a great little venue for live music with lots of bar space to drink to your heart's content. read more

This was my second visit to Smith's olde bar and this one was far superior. Why, you ask? The bands I saw this time were young up and coming artists. Bullet music brought together some really talented artists including a band that reminded me some of Radiohead -- "Lanes.". What a great name for an Atlanta rock Band! The next group was a really hot chick with an amazing sultry voice. The first time I went to Smith's I saw a DAD band. Seeing the dad band totally brought down the pleasure and excitement level of the place. I didn't feel sexy and cool when I watched the Dad band like I did when I watched "Lanes." IWhen I watched the dads carefully pluck out their music i felt like I was hanging on to some last vestige of youth as the grave was approaching. That time I felt like my fashion sense was being diluted into a PTA mom. Tips : there are very few chairs so be prepared to stand. The staff are cheerful. The bathrooms are clean. Honestly, this place yells to and exists for the young, hippy, college crowd that it caters too. I'm not mad at you wild child... I was twenty-something, once upon a time. I'll keep this one short and sweet. The Saturday night I meet some friends there, a doorman checked ID's at the door and once inside, the place feels kind of Boho chic with a free spirited vibe. I quickly spotted my friends who had taken up residence in a high-back red leatherette booth that became our base camp, for the 2 hours we spent at the bar. The actual bar seemed short, in comparison to the size of the place but it was reasonably stocked and I was served within a few minutes of waiting. The dance floor that was filled with sweaty college kids bumping and grinding, mixing and mingling, like young college kids do. I noticed a couple of pool tables in a separate room and a line of kids waiting to enter a different room where there was a live band. All in all, if you prefer a more mature vibe, this isn't your place but if you feel that you have passed this exit but occasionally choose to roll with the college crowd, by all means, saddle up and make your way down to Smith's Olde Bar. read more

We stopped at SOB (Smith's Olde Bar) mainly because they were one of the few that allowed 18+ (a member of our group was 20) and we wanted to kill some time trying a local hangout that offered billiards. It had a nice atmosphere to call their own, offering plenty of room as well as memorabilia from the many musical acts that graced their stage. The overall pricing was reasonable for the alcohol you got. Having just eaten we did not try any of their food items that they offer. Billiards was $1 per game and they offer a decent amount of well maintained tables (4) and plenty of decent cue (with chalk!). While there is no smoking inside, the back patio offers a place to unwind away from their overall bar atmosphere. This allows those who need a puff the ability to take a drag while keeping the interior air smoke-free for those around them. Parking is non-existent, so take a cab or if driving a short walk across the street will find you at a sort of outdoor mall with plenty of spaces. Just remember to look both ways and watch out for cars. read more

At first glance I was gonna give them an OK 3 star because it seemed like just another bar. They had their typical bar drinks, food, billiard tables, juke box, darts, etc. But after hanging out, looking around, and knowing more about about Smith's Olde Bar I had to bump them up. Upstairs they have bands and performers playing, pretty nice setup. Crazy parties can go down here. A cool place to go, heard some big name bands have performed here often. They have a nice menu of good bar food with decent pricing. The food portions are nice but not huge. I wasn't really hungry and had the nachos they weren't that back. I've heard their burgers are awesome. They also have daily drink specials. Service was OK, they were friendly but kind of slow just was a little busy and they looked short handed. They have poker nights. If you're looking, this is a Steelers and Bama bar but they wont hate on you if you're a fan on a rival team but maybe crack a joke about your team just for the hell of it. This is a great place to hang out. It is located close to Piedmont park, across the street from some fantastic restaurants. It is a lot larger than you would have thought. A game room on one end, tables for food in the middle and then two music stages on the other side, one upstairs and one downstairs. They frequently have bands playing at both stages. Some are local artists just starting out, and others are larger, more-well known artists. The drink prices are standard for an Atlanta bar. Come here for good music and a fun night. read more

Although the music rooms are not really conducive to eating while listening, they will serve you there. And unfortunately you can't hear the music from either room in their multi room restuarant/bar. Plenty of other things to grab your attention though with big screens for sports, pool tables, and spacious booths for hanging with friends. Biggest issue is parking. It is amazing to me that this place has been in that spot for decades and never really solved their parking problem. Most people park at the mall across the street. read more

A blues/rock infused band "Crews & Company" played here a couple times and man are they phenomenal. They played every song with soulful precision and charisma. They had an array of cover tunes dating back to 70's rock n roll and they had awesome, catchy original tunes mixed in their set as well. Being able to catch them here at Smith's Olde Bar is an amazing experience. I can really see these guys going far. The venue itself and the staff and the customers were all great as well. I came in Tuesday to order pizza, I only stayed for pizza didn't sit down or anything. I did not leave a tip because I only ordered a pizza which was a medium size pizza for 27 dollars. I paid with card scratched out the tip option & wrote the total for pizza. Yesterday which was 2 days later I received a upgraded charge of 5$. I can't believe the bartender ( A young lady) Stole from. I called & received no answer only reason I won't be going up to establishment Is because my boyfriend replaced the money & beg me not to go. I posted to bring awareness, it's a hard time for everyone right now but if you have to steal from customers find another profession. I have worked in the serving industry & I don't anymore because of how bad the economy is but I would never steal.
