For the second visit in a row, we received horrible food and service. Our food took over an hour to come out. When it finally arrived, there was no explanation. My food was cold. The rice was so cold that it was still stuck together in what looked like... blocks. The broccoli and chicken were also cold. My fiancé ordered a burger and cheese sticks. He was able to eat two of the cheese sticks, but could not even eat the burger. The burger was burnt to a crisp (he could not even cut it), and was STILL cold somehow!!! I told the server, and she told me they were low on food runners. Excuse me? Food runners? The entire theater was virtually empty. There were at least three servers AND a manager on staff. There is no excuse at all for that. None. When you do not have food runners, the rest of your staff (including and especially management) runs food. There were no people at the bar. There were approximately 15 cars in the parking lot. We paid for all but the burger, since we had not eaten all day and stomached what we could. We are at home now, cooking dinner. The manager was apologetic, but clearly uninterested and untrained. I only spoke with him because I wanted to make sure he understood how horrible it was. I never ever complain. It was that bad. He offered no solution, only apologies. Hopefully someone "higher up" can help him learn. We still tipped the server, but honestly... an abysmal time. This place used to be awesome. Now, I do not recommend anyone visit. Our previous visit ended with all six of us NOT EVEN RECEIVING our food. This was strike two, but we are not waiting for strike three. Horrible. First time here. Reallly enjoyed our experience and will be back! We laid to sit in the recliners and it was well worthy the extra few $$. Bought our tickets online. When you get there give the cashier your confirmation number and they'll print out your tickets. The food was good. Only complaint is no free refills on sodas. The recliners are push button and the seats are so comfortable!! I always get tired of sitting in the movie theater because the seats get uncomfortable for me. I did not once feel tired of sitting in these seats. Full service bar and full menu to choose from. Food was very tasty and about the same as going to eat first and then seeing a movie. I was very excited to take my girlfriend here because she had never been. Worst service I've had in a long time. Forgot my sandwich. Food came out very late into the movie. Did not add Mayo to my sandwich. Brought me some with no utensils so how could I apply it? Had to ask 4 times for take out boxes. And the mixed drinks were very weak at best. Great recliners tho. Went back to watch Aladdin and experienced pretty make the same issues as last time. We could hear the movie next door blaring Into the theater which we ended up ignoring. We ordered pizza which never came and various other small snacks which did arrive and were pretty good. We had some confusions with the tickets at the end of the show as one group did not receive their and waiting to receives our back. Unfortunately another movie finished the same time as ours which caused issues at the end. It wasn't a problem for us but i could see it being a problem in the future for others. read more

My husband and I love going to this theater. The chairs are comfortable, the service is great, the food is not terrible and the drinks are awesome! The only time that we ordered food and never received it, they were more than accommodating and fixed it real quick. So it's not a huge problem. From the 20+ times we've been here, only once was there an issue. It still gets 5 stars in my book :) This is one of my favorite theaters to go to! read more

The Cinema is really going in the right direction. Although I did not eat on this trip, I checked out the happiness of the others who were eating, and I must give it a try on my next trip. The waitress coming to you seat in the theatre, a full bar, and a menu with many choices, well that is something to look forward too. So back to the movie house. The Seats are quite comfy and with the tables in the theatre the spacing is very nice. The bathroom is a real gem. This kind of bathroom would normally be found in a million dollar house or a 5 star hotel. Impressive indeed. I need another movie with me eating to continue my report! My family doesn't make it to the theaters often, so when we do it is really a special occasion. We recently went to see the newest Jurassic World film here and had a great experience. We liked being able to reserve seats. The seats were comfortable and reclined. We ordered nachos, loaded fries, popcorn, and drinks. The food is higher than what you may pay in a restaurant, but when do you get to recline in a comfy chair, watching a movie on the big screen while you stuff your face?! I have to say that the loaded fries I got were much larger than I expected, I almost didn't finish them. They had more than enough melted cheese, onions, and real, good sized pieces of actual bacon on them. They were delicious! ***One tip I can offer is to look at the theater's website for daily food and drink specials. The specials are not advertised at the theater, at least I didn't see them, and if I would not have pointed out to our waiter that we should have got some items at a lower price because of the day's special, we were going to pay almost $20 more than we needed to. I always check Star Cinema first if I'm going to see a movie. It's a good break from your standard movie house. They not only offer the standard movie popcorn and candy, but a full scale bar and extensive menu too. You won't be be blown away by the food, but it's solid. I always start off with the southwest chicken egg rolls as an appetizer. They're a good representation. From there I've had most of the burger options, or the fajita tacos. It's all a notch above anything you would get at fast food or a regular theatre. The actual theatre design / technology is old, but it's been updated and maintained well. They also left the mess on our table and let the table become over crowded as they brought out more food without taking away the trash that was on the table. We had a horrible experience here, the server didn't bring our card back and lost it. She did show she was concerned And worried so she reported it to the general manager Eric who was very unprofessional and didn't show any concern that the server had lost the card he didn't apologize but all he said is "well let's hope when the movie clears out, the card will still be there" He Didn't even want to give us anything to show that he was sorry not even a free meal or something to show good customer service. I was initially quite happy with finding this theatre and excited to try it out, since I had no Alamo Drafthouse near my new dwelling. However, this chain delivers hit-or-miss food with bad tea (inexcusable), and lacks the culture and (most importantly) viewer experience offered by Alamo. The preroll entertainment is mostly ads (and ads advertising ad space at that, yuck). The rules regarding theatre ettiquite are non-existent or not enforced - I have personally been appalled to find texting and movietalking. Not to mention that the kind staff was gracious enough to provide my neighbor with a cup for spitting his dip into throughout the movie - stay classy, Conroe. "But a few bad experiences from the patrons does not constitute punishing the theatre with negative reviews!" Yes and no. I have returned to this theatre a couple times, and the lack of movie ettiquite is really very commonplace. The negative review hinges on the viewer experience that an average person might find when attending, and part of that is how the establishment and staff control individuals who are disruptive to the experience. The environment presented by Star Cinema is lacking enough that the overall experience is poor and may leave you reconsidering your life choices. Star cinema grill is a nice place with comfortable seats for a fair price. The food is also good. Our waiter missed our popcorn and we thought maybe they didn't see it on our order slip, but it was on the bill. They removed it and really we were full so not a big deal. Other reviewers noted the noise from the other theaters which we heard as well, but it wasn't a deal killer. All in all we had a good experience and will be back. 1/2 the price of ipics! read more

Order food like normal. Salad Burger and nachos Pretty simple right, wrong!! First we ask several people to bring us dressing for the salad and then I never get my burger it's been about 45 minutes. Then we ask for manager, management comes and takes order again about ten minutes later we get the burger and it was still wrong, whatever you do don't ask for anything extra on the burger like beacon, because they always forget it and I always eat a cold burger. Here is the best part manager removes burger from bill so we taught they would take care of us wrong. We had a bad experience at the movie theater and we told management that we didn't have a good movie experience because we had to keep bugging people to bring us dressing and missing food, one employee gave us free tickets. We wanted to speak to management at the end of movie that called cops and made us feel like we where committing a crime because we wanted to speak to management, manager Eric would not fix issues then we ask for his boss and he would comp meal but would take movie tickets back, coo just stood there like we where gonna blow up and cause a since. The movie ticket was only $8 for 11am on Sat. The seats were comfortable. The Quasadillas were $9, but add chicken & it became $13! Very pricy for 4 quasadillas if they are good. These were Not! I only ate them because of hunger. The other bad note was the $9.75 FRESH MARGARITA. The plastic mug was so lite that I had to check if it had any liquid at all. It was full of ice and could not have had much more than 8 ounces in it oh and the taste was the worst excuse of a margarita I had ever tasted. Really bad! So I get my check for $24.62!!!!! Food isn't really that good and tends to come out colder than it should. Do not plan on ordering more than 3 beers. They cut you off after that even if you're watching a 3-hour long Avengers movie. I hate to give the star cinema grill one start. This movie theater was our fav place to go see movies. Not so much anymore. You can hear the movies next door. I also do not like the food. It sometimes comes out cold. I have tried different things like the pizza, tacos and other things. The pizza tastes like the dough came right out of the freezer. They took off my fav Mac and cheese with chicken. That was really good. I wish they would bring it back. I wish the bath rooms were a lot cleaner and not have paper towels spilling out of the trash cans. I also wish the staff were a little more friendly. read more

The good: the recliners are super comfy and roomy. The pre-movie entertainment and ads are actually quite enjoyable. The ticket price was reasonable. I'm a big fan of the kids policy - I didn't notice any irritating behavior from patrons. The service was okay, friendly enough but I think our food order got forgotten for a while. The bad: We ordered a beer, a cold appetizer, and cookies - and watched everyone around us who had ordered after us get their food before us. 40 minutes after ordering, we asked about the order and the server told us the cookies take 20 minutes. About ten minutes later, it arrived - cookies baked into tasty sweet hard tooth-breaking hockey pucks. I also thought the volume was too loud. My ears are still ringing a little, an hour after the show. The ugly: as other people have mentioned, the mens' room was disgusting. Toilets un- flushed and sticky floors on two visits, an hour apart. Management, do something about the restrooms. Food orders sometimes get forgotten, people have different comfort levels on volume, but nobody ever appreciates a dirty restroom. read more

This is a hidden gem. I was in town visiting my brother and his family. I took my niece out to see a movie. It was her first time experiencing a theater like this. This Star location is way on the other end of the Houston world from the one in Clear Lake. It is newer than the Clear Lake location and it shows. I was actually impressed by the restrooms, very pretty to look at. I love the open-air feel of the main lobby, not something you usually get from these theaters in old facilities. The ticket prices are a little cheaper than in Clear Lake, $8 for adults, $7 for students/seniors and $5.50 for children (ages 5 - 10). They don't allow any children under the age of 5, but I've seen some in here because all people have to do is lie. It's not like children come with IDs. There were some making some noise during the movie. We could hear them clearly and they were at least eight rows behind us. The Star Theaters have a large capacity so at least if there are noisy kiddos in your movie you can get away from them. This is definitely one of the less busy "dinner and a movie theaters." Much like Studio Movie Grill in Copperfield, it seems there aren't many people here because it's just a 'way the hell out there' location and is only going to draw the locals. The service here was better than the Clear Lake location, I think because there were so few people there on a Saturday. The food menu is the same as the Clear Lake location. The only different we found was the beer selection. There was nothing pleasing available so we went with Dr. Pepper. We finally picked food other than our usual from Star, I think because it's a different location and it pulls us out of our routine. We got the Southwest Chicken Egg Roll, $7.99 and the Gyro, $8.49, with Texas Toothpicks. My chicken egg rolls were awesome, I like the ones from Chili's, but these were so much better! seeing "inception" tonight at star cinema grill brought back a few childhood memories. a night out, growing up in conroe, texas during the late seventies and early eighties, meant you were at a school function, a bowling alley, a church function or the movies (or, a pasture with a few friends). star cinema grill was formerly one of the conroe theaters that would be the few places a kid could be on a weekend night. i saw "pee wee herman's big adventure" and "raiders of the lost ark" in the very walls my friends and i watched "inception" this evening. the renovation of the theater to a cinema/grill is well done. the furnishings and fixtures are first class; designer touches everywhere. my shrimp tacos were superb....and when i say superb, i mean way better than berryhill, tgi fridays and baker street shrimp tacos. hint: should you order these, ask that they leave their "special" mayo based sauce off. i asked them to add their chipotle sauce instead and the flavor was spot on. the shrimp were cooked perfectly. everyone's food looked good (at least in dim lighting). sinful dessert alert: fried cheesecake with chocolate dipping sauce...not on my weight watchers point list. note: movies as complex as "inception" are better viewed in a non-eating cinema experience. romantic comedies, movies like "the hangover", are more suitable for this environment. there is too much commotion during the show for a movie you'd like to watch intently. the shrimp tacos were four stars, but the overall experience, for me, is a three. will definitely go back, but movies while being served dinner may not be my thing. read more

Well, at least this exists in Conroe. I'm a big fan of the watching a movie whilst eating and drinking; however, I'd rather skip this and head to the regular theater. The cost is par for the course, maybe a bit cheaper than similar establishments and the service was good. Comfort is nonexistent here. The floor was sticky and the seats are about as comfortable as an economy airplane seat during hour 4 of a 6 hour flight. Well maybe not quite so, but definitely not seats I like to pay to sit in for ~2 hours. My wine glass was dirty. I could tell even in the dark theater. The food tasted like it came from the freezer section of the grocery. Bargain brand. I'd say it's worth the drive to go to Alamo Drafthouse for a tastier and more comfortable experience. read more

I have been here several times! I love that I can combine dinner and a movie! The food is diner/bistro style. The service is good, just push the button! My kids love it! Been here once and saw Scott Pilgrim. So that was a while ago. But I was very pleased overall! I had the burger and shrimp tacos (had a buy one get one free coupon, what are you gonna do?) and they were both delicious. The space and ambiance in the lobby is very nice, lots of seating, etc. I like the setup. Overall, I just don't do movies that often, but when I do, I'd rather come here. The food isn't great, is pricey, and there are little to no options for vegetarians. I have tried to ask them, for example to have the wrap with no meat and rather then giving me a little off since it didn't have meant they just refused. My food has come out burnt or under cooked more than once. Often Ill ask for a side of ranch or a fork and it never comes out with the meal so I always have to ask again and it takes almost 20 minutes to get it. Don't get me wrong, there are some great staff there but some staff leave room for improvement in terms of customer service (including the manager). Lastly, they are many people who play on their phones when the movie is going so don't come here is you are wanting to see a serious movie without distractions.
