I love the upgrades that they have made, especially to the bar area and the addition of the premium VIP seats. The VIP seats come with blanket and popcorn. They bring popcorn salt and butter on the side so you can adjust it yourself. The seat itself is a recliner and comes with heat and massage function. However, my date's massage function didn't work on his chair and it is even pricier than IPIC cinema, upward of $21/tix. Our drinks and popcorn arrived fast. I didn't like how the server has to walk past you to get through the aisle as their shape blocks your view while walking by. This was a constant distraction throughout the movie. I like how clean the theater was, including the restroom. The lobby is pretty with chandeliers. They have a private room to drink and dine. However with everything else I immediately knew that this place probably wouldn't be up to my standards just by looking. The tables in front of each movie seat reminded me of cafeteria trays that you can see in a nursing home so that was my first indication. Again, the movie staff were really nice. I will for sure give them that but I just felt like we had to keep asking for the same item over and over and over again. I feel like four different times we had to ask for two separate items. Came here to see Marty Supreme and the theatre did not disappoint. The lobby was so gorgeous and the restaurant style seating and booths were a nice touch near the bar. The space smelled so fresh and was very clean. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The theatre was pretty empty during the weekday afternoon and The food came out pretty quickly after ordering. the wings were so juicy and a good amount (8) for appetizer price point. Star Cinema Grill is located in the old Studio Movie Grill and has been open for a year. The theater is connected to a parking garage, but finding a spot can be a process. Many spots are reserved and the garage is also used for the hotel. If you buy movie tickets online, there is an option to reserve parking for $14. The decor gives upscale vibes. I had a cocktail at the bar in the lobby and noticed that there were quite a few tables as well as a private dining room. You can order from the full food and drink menu and they also offer to go ordering through Toast Tab. I purchased tickets on the app and opted to do VIP since they were only $7 more. VIP tickets must be purchased in pairs because the seats are pods. VIP also comes with complimentary popcorn and blankets, but you have to request them from the server. The recliners have massage and heat. There's also a lamp on the wall of the pod that came in handy when we were eating during the movie. The light is bright enough to see your food, but not too bright to be a distraction. Each arm rest (including the center one) had a cupholder. These small details made for a more elevated experience. The Halle Berry Cocktail was good and refreshing. I liked that the popcorn came with a little container of butter. For my entree, I had the Smoked Brisket Tacos and they were really good! It came with chips and salsa. The check was brought out about 30 minutes before the movie ended and gratuity (18%) was already added. Our server Bryana was so nice and attentive, but there was some confusion with our checks. She asked us what we had ordered during a pivotal moment in the movie which was so distracting. I would have preferred for her to either hold on to the check or set it down and come back once the movie ended to sort it out. When the movie ended, I noticed that she charged me for the popcorn even though it was supposed to be complimentary. I pushed the call button and no one came over. Luckily, we ran into a manager as we were heading out and she was able to take care of it. She was very apologetic. Mistakes sometimes happen, but I really appreciated the accountability. read more

Upon entry, I was greeted by an energetic manager-type wanting to scan my ticket purchase QR. I was waiting for a friend to arrive, so I went to the bar to see my options. 2:45 PM on a Saturday, the bar staff was tending to BTS duties and I had to wait for her to appear in the bar. Very nice, polite, and professional; she was happy to answer all of my questions. The new decor since the name change is beautiful. This theatre is so nicely revamped. Free parking is along the third floor of the garage- with easy access to the theatre. Checking in was straight forward by scanning our QR code. The bar area is expansive with lots of open seating. I loved the hallways that included pillars of old movie stars. Inside the theatre, the seats were sooooo comfortable! Literally felt like a cloud. It also includes a section of 'love seats' for couples, and did not obstruct the view of the screen. Service is quick is prompt. The Parmesan truffle popcorn and strawberry shake were amazing. Relaxed date night! I've been to 4 different star line locations and this one is my favorite out of all of them. I've never been here prior to there remodel but if this place was remodeled everything looks completely brand new! Parking is a bit confusing because when you pay online for your tickets it offers you "VIP" parking for $16. DONT pay for that there's tons of free parking on the 2nd level of the parking garage! When you walk in there's a lounge/bar in the middle of the cinema and it has tons of comfy chairs to relax while you wait for your movie. We got the VIP couple chairs in the middle of the theater with a blanket, heated & massage seats. There so comfy and relaxing! Your seat automatically comes with popcorn which is also my fave. My husband always gets the wings here and I finally tried them and there soooo crispy!! Very good wings. However, the sangria did taste like straight juice but that's what to expect so no biggie. Popcorn & food came out in a timely matter. Bathrooms are super clean and well stocked also! Great theater for a date night or if you just want to come in your comfy sweats. read more

If you are short do NOT ever choose a seat right behind the row of pod seats. I'm 5'1 and if I wanted to have my seat leaned back all the way I had to make sure i sat up straight and didn't sink downwards to be able to fully see the screen (picture in my review shows from my eye level). It's been so long since I've been to the movies, the last time I went was in 2017 to watch Logan. It was at this movie theater but back then it was called "studio movie grill". I didn't have a good experience the first time around because the service was bad. I think it has gotten better since Star Cinema grill bought them out. My friend (Tiffany J.) decided to purchase some tickets to see Sinners. She got the premium seats where we have a recliner, blankets and complimentary popcorn per person. It's really a good deal since it's about 5 dollars more. If I have to sit for Two hours and 30 minutes, I might as well be comfortable. The seats were okay in my opinion, it was soft but it was not good for my back. The premium seats provide more privacy and it's built like a two person pod so you don't see the person next to you. It has a lamp, cup holder & a table for you to eat. If you want service there's also a button for you to press. Our server was Bryana, she was very helpful and kind to us. I decided to order an 8 piece buffalo hot wings, a side of fries & a white cherry icee. My wings were okay, it was not pipping hot and right out of the fryer but it was doable. My French fries were fresh and they were thick and long, pause. Flavor wise it was also mid. The icee was refreshing and probably my favorite part of the meal. Everything came out to be around 30 bucks plus 18% gratuity. I'm not the biggest fan of them adding gratuity since I'm going to tip anyways but I also don't blame them either. People don't tip, so I ain't mad at cha for adding gratuity. At the end our server brought out our checks which wasn't the best idea because it was at the most crucial part of the movie. She was sorting out which tickets were mine and which one were my friend. That made us miss some important parts of the movie. They could've waited until the credits came up. But I get it, they want to make sure everything is done & cleaned for the next crowd to come in. There was a minor mistake for my friend bill. She was charged for two popcorns when it's suppose to be complimentary. There was a manager around and they were able to fix it quickly so no issues there. Overall, good service, the place is clean & the movie was amazing. If you haven't seen "Sinners" go see it now. It's a lot of comedy, musical, action & it leaves you a lot to think about. Great cast and everyone nailed it on their roles. There's a bar area you can order some drinks/food while you're waiting for your movie to start or just waiting on your friends to arrive. They have made a lot of noticeable changes to this venue. The updates are a welcomed change that has gotten me excited about going to the theater again. The seats have all been updated, providing a plethora of features including, soft and luxurious materials, recliners for back and feet in addition to seat warming. Private pods are available for parties of 1 or 2 which would be my recommendation but you should not consider the alternative a downgrade as the seats are just as comfortable. It's more a matter of privacy and seating position. The staff are extremely polite, honest and eager to provide a positive experience. There's an 18% gratuity automaticity applied to the bill which I am personally comfortable with given the level of service and the type of venue. It helps provide consistency by managing expectations. The popcorn is excellent and if you opt for the large, refills are included and brought to you. The pretzel includes 2 pieces with 3 sauces. I prefer the cheese or the spicy mustard. The tacos also looked really good and will probably give them a shot on the next visit. read more

This movie theater is beautiful. Inside aesthetics are very pleasing to the eye. There is parking available in the attached parking garage. Easy to find plenty of signage. Food and service is wonderful. I'm glad they finally have the premium pods open those run you about $23 but come with a blanket and reclining seats. I love that they had a heating and cooling option for the reclining seats as well as a massager very unique. You also get unlimited refills on popcorn with the premium pods. I ordered the fajita chicken nachos and frozen margarita. The margarita was very potent, and those nachos were layered with all the appropriate toppings. The only thing I didn't like is how far the bathrooms are from some of the theaters so I like going to the bathroom before you start the movie lol this theater has easily became one of my favorites. read more

am genuinely appalled by the experience I had at this theater. From the moment we approached the bar, the atmosphere was unprofessional and uncomfortable. The customer service felt dismissive and, at times, carried an undertone that was difficult to ignore in such a wealthy and diverse area. No guest should leave feeling that way. The management team was alarmingly ineffective. Rather than maintaining standards, they appeared to tolerate -- and possibly enable -- immature and inappropriate behavior from staff. The lack of oversight was obvious. When leadership is young and more focused on camaraderie than accountability, it shows throughout the entire establishment. The bartenders were far more engaged in demeaning conversations about other employees than in serving customers or maintaining a clean bar. It was uncomfortable to witness and completely unacceptable in any professional setting. The drinks themselves were poorly made and overpriced, adding insult to injury. The food was equally disappointing. Our order was entered incorrectly, and what did arrive was improperly prepared. For the prices being charged, basic accuracy and quality should not be too much to expect. What is perhaps most frustrating is the automatic gratuity. When staff are guaranteed a tip regardless of the level of service provided, there appears to be little incentive to care. The lack of attentiveness and urgency to correct mistakes reflected exactly that. This establishment is located in one of the most affluent and diverse parts of town, yet the culture inside does not reflect the professionalism that such an area demands. Management needs to seriously reevaluate their leadership, training, and accountability standards before more guests walk away feeling the same frustration. I sincerely hope this complaint is taken seriously -- because what is currently being allowed to continue is unacceptable. read more

I've only had one issue with my food, they brought me pork nachos instead of chicken (I'm allergic to pork) the waiter was able to take the food back and bring me a new plate. So I came here recently to check out the upgrades and modifications. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. They have new interior and new seating along sides of corridor as you walk to movie, cute to take a photo. The chairs recline with the food tray in front to hold ur food. These are new chairs, they weren't like this here before. The food was about a 7.5. The service was amazing. Everyone was super attentive and courteous. Had a couple of drinks and the liquor bottles were definitely NOT watered down. So overall, I'm ready to go again. I'm glad they revamped it and I had a good experience bc now I'll be back.. and I'll tell my friends .. lol I posted some food photos too bc I couldn't find any before I ordered. FOOD The hot dog i'd get again it was really good, bun a little "bready" for me but I just took some off. Fries were kinda skimpy but tastes good. The spinach artichoke dip was okay.. nothing to brag about and the tortilla chips were fresh with a sprinkle of salt so I liked them. I cannot say enough about the quality of food served here. I forgot I was at a theater for a second. The price is a little high but worth it in my opinion. My favorite part? First time visiting Star Cinema Grill! This location recently replaced the Studio Movie Grill which I would say "anchored" the City Centre. Star Cinema Grill is most definitely the refresher that the City Centre needed. First of all, the remodeling and attention to detail is impeccable. The theater feels luxurious walking inside. Upscale and modern with a "less is more" vibe. No longer the feeling of "cluttered" but open and spacious. The ticket counter and bar are decorated in beautiful stone countertops and the lighting in the lobby is breathtaking by the natural light that fills the space. You no longer have to have an attendant to scan your ticket, you can walk right to your theater! I believe they are still in the process of remodeling the theaters as well as the bathrooms (I know the men's restroom was still under construction). The theater I was in had the same setup and seats from when it was Studio Movie Grill. Nonetheless, the theater was clean, and tidy, and felt relaxing. My server was Angel S. He did a phenomenal job taking care of me and the rest of the guests in the theater. Very friendly and welcoming service. I was also greeted by a manager and was thanked for coming in and to enjoy the show. Even the other servers and food runners who dropped off food for me and/or assisted me in any way was friendly and impeccable service. The food was excellent and filling. Here's what I ordered... Appetizer: Spinach & Artichoke Dip - 8/10 rating The spin dip was delicious and was presented very nicely. They give you quite a bit and lots of tortilla chips. This was definitely and appetizer to share! Too much for one person. No sour cream or salsa comes with it but the dip itself is delicious. Not my favorite dip but I really enjoyed it. Entree: Chicken Quesadilla - 9/10 rating I believe the quesadilla is listed under the starters/apps but you can easily order this as an entree. 3 huge pieces of chicken quesadillas stacked neatly ontop of one another. Very meaty and cheesy. Comes with sour cream and salsa! The guacamole is built into the quesadilla which I thought was odd but I really loved the taste. Super filling and you can easily share this. Dessert: Fudge Brownie a La Mode - 10/10 rating 10/10 I would order this again. The presentation was beautiful (even in the dark) and tasted even better. I ate the whole thing! Very gooey and warm. Just what you would expect from brownies and ice cream. You can't go wrong. Very good experience. The atmosphere, service, and food was all excellent. Terrible Service - Twice Now I had an extremely disappointing experience at this movie theater, and unfortunately this wasn't a one-time issue -- it's happened twice. The problems started at the bar. The bartenders displayed very poor customer service and what felt like clear prejudice. I was, along with other Black patrons, repeatedly skipped over while others were helped. Bartenders blatantly turned their backs, walked away, and left the bar unattended instead of assisting us. It was uncomfortable and unacceptable. Inside the theater, the service didn't improve. The young servers got my order wrong three separate times -- and the order was simple: drinks, popcorns, and quesadillas. They seemed rushed, didn't listen, and would leave before confirming anything, yet still managed to bring incorrect items each time. I'm not sure what the rush was if the service and accuracy were going to be this poor. Given that I've experienced horrible service on multiple visits, it's clear this is a training and management issue. The staff needs to be properly retrained on customer service, communication, and professionalism -- and serious attention needs to be paid to how patrons are being treated. I expected far better and will not be returning unless major changes are made. read more

We usually wait until movies are streaming and watch them at home, but we thought we'd venture out for a date night to a theatre to see "Solo Mio". Had not been to Star Cinema Grill since it was another theatre prior, but really glad we did! The ambiance was spectacular and the staff were friendly, professional and courteous. We chose the Premium Pod seating, which was very comfortable with reclining, heated, massaging seats and table trays, as well as a comfortable blanket for additional warmth. Call buttons for service were conveniently located to order drinks and a wide variety of snacks, appetizers, pizza, burgers, drinks and more. Hannah, our service assistant, was prompt with our ordering and delivery. Our appetizer, drinks and pizza were delicious! And the movie was great!! Highly recommend it! Additionally and on our way out, we stopped by the facilities. My husband had accidentally dropped his wallet in the restroom, and we immediately looked for someone to report it to. An employee, Sergio, who appeared to be a manager, and upon seeing our distress, immediately approached us and assisted with finding the wallet. As a Director's Club subscriber, I have visited all Star Cinema Grill locations in the area, and this one is my least favorite. This is unfortunate, as it is the one closest to me. Our visit last night was disappointing. We paid extra for the premium pods, which were more comfortable than the regular ones and reclined a bit further. The seats only heated in the lower back area, and I did not enjoy the massaging function. It was definitely not as good as the chairs at the nail salon, but oh well... Also, I asked for the complimentary blanket three times, but they never brought it to me. The food is where most of my disappointment stems from. We had the loaded fries, which were not really "loaded", but we enjoyed nonetheless. The caesar salad wrap (a favorite of mine) was not as great as usual - the croutons were SO stale they were hard and soggy. Quite unpleasant. The mixed fruit I ordered on the side was missing the "mix", as it was 90% honeydew, with some cantaloupe and three grapes. None of it was ripe. I tried my husband's $16 Crown+Coke slushie, and even though it was watered down, he ordered a second one. Twenty minutes later, the second one had not arrived, turns out the server had forgotten. Fifteen minutes after that, we asked the server on the status of the 2nd slushie, and he said the slushie machine had broken. Okay. All of this to say, I hope this location can get it together someday. Meanwhile, I will keep visiting the one at Baybrook Mall. read more

I haven't been to this theater in years. I have to say that they have really stepped it up since the last time I visited. They redid most of the seats and have added these pods to sit at. Very comfortable seats that massage your back the entire time. You can also recline and they provide you with blankets if you get one of these vip seats. The seats are sold by two with a divider. So make sure to go with someone. In the pod there's a tray to eat, cup holder for your drink. Night lamp to see your food or the menu that doesn't disturb others. Everyone was so nice that we encountered. They had loads of seating areas around to relax until your movie started as well. The regular seats are remodeled as well with recliners and I'm not sure if they massage like the others. I should have looked. So sorry! Also with the vip seats you receive a free small popcorn. Which was nice! I had one of the flatbread pizzas and it was really good! The only reason why I give this place 4 stars was because the bathroom had a foul smell coming from the sewer that really needs to be checked out. The bathroom was clean, it just had that smell. Weird! Anyway we bought parking right by the entrance, but once we arrived. We realized they had plenty of space and we didn't need to spend the money for vip parking. We'll know for next time. Overall I would definitely see another movie here and will be back when I'm on this side of town. read more
