Store was well arranged. Older woman, Lisa, at printer help desk was somewhat terse bordering on rude at first when I asked to print our resumes from a flash drive because our printer went down but after I talked with her a bit and mentioned I was a Lisa too and smiled at her, she warmed up quite a bit. Maybe a bad day or perhaps she's not great at initial contact with people. Glad it got better as it would have left bad taste for me. We then looked at printers and I was helped by Bradley. I had done my homework regarding inkjet vs laser but wanted to get his feedback and he concurred that laser was more pricey at first but saved on ink and was great quality. Bradley was a bit reserved but he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful regarding the various printers. While we didn't purchase at that time, we will be back. The staff was very helpful with refunding the order, but not able to deliver the copy order on time. Please plan ahead when dealing with time sensitive orders. Especially if they are complicated (has a staple, multiple pages, and so forth) I arrived a little after the order was supposed to be ready and was told it hadn't been started yet and that it should take another 30 minutes. Left a phone number, did not receive a call with an update. Returned an hour later to receive a more in depth update about a general inability to do the order as specified. Promptly was refunded funds, and the customer service was generally excellent after that point. But that said, I needed it half an hour ago, the order is not being finished to specifications, and I am fairly certain my mother is going to let me have it when I show up. Late. read more

So it's my first time at this location and I can see why the ratings are so low. There was a bigger female cashier who didn't even greet me when I walked in. Then when I went to pay, and I asked her if the item I was buying was sold individually instead of in a pack and she said no. Then she proceeded to stare at me as I pulled out my credit card then asked, "oh did you want them?" Like no ma'am, I'm standing here with my credit card in my hand to show it to you. So then I said, yes and she didn't give me a total, didn't ask for a reward number, didn't ask if I needed a bag, didn't say thank you. Last night I went over to this store to buy some materials for my office. I was lucky to be helped by one of their employees, and the name starts with the letter A. He approached me while I was looking for the item. His customer service skills was good by a warm introduction about himself and how he maybe able to assist me finding the items. He helped me by showing me where all the items were located in each aisles that I needed. I have visited this store many times and most of the employees wouldn't help customers until the customer raises his hand to get employees attention. I don't know if some employees are passive or need to wear glasses to see customers needs their attention or retrain them on how to approach customers without being scared. Horrible ... made recent visit .. no shopping carts in store , I asked one employee if there were any that I didn't see , he said go ask someone else to do a cart run! So I found another employee and asked him if he could get me a cart (I had 2 hand baskets full) I told him what the other employee said and he apologized and got me a cart . Spent 20 minutes trying to get through and only did once (the other 2 calls I made I was on hold for 5 mins only to be hung up on) when I got through I was placed on hold for 5 mins only to be put through to some line that rang for 3 minutes and then went silent. Horrible experience with online pick up order was placed I was told would be ready for pick up within one hour upon arriving at the store employees had no idea of where my item was and in fact informed that they did not have the unit I ordered even in stock. Also sales person attempted to charge me an additional $14 for a floor model desk chair outrageous. I would highly recommend staying away from this location and staples altogether which won't be hard I'm sure they will be out of business soon can't wait for the liquidation sale. read more

I rushed to staples to find out that their color copier was down however they were attempting to get a hold of me the customer service representative not only quickly copied a couple of Black and white fliers he was nice enough to not charge me because of the inconvenience and problem with the color copier. Came to laminate at 10 am..... store has been open since 8 am. Associate told me laminator was off and needed to warm up. This would take 20 minutes. Just to warm up. If the store has been open for 2 hours why hasn't this been turned on. And as I was there another lady was complaining about a separate issue. I ordered again for my home office. They case of paper had 8 of the 10 reams of paper torn so I emailed them. I got a "So what attitude" email response so I looked around and found the same thing from a long standing manufacturer and the price was $10 cheaper and free shipping too. For the record, this was not the first time printer paper was torn but the last two times I got a person who did the right thing and responded as if I mattered to the company. read more

Been here for over an hour waiting on a simple print job! I talked to the manager ( John ) about it and he said that I should be "educated enough to bring my files as PDF." I told him instead of trying to "educate me" he should educate his staff first! If they can't convert a file into a PDF, they have issues!!!!! They should let the customers know that they don't accept anything other than PDF files, but that they will attempt to help you... How dare a manager of a store, speak that way to a customer? They promised my print job would be ready in 20 minutes... I have been here longer than that! This is ridiculous... Corporate should train their managers to be more careful when they talk to a customer... They lost my business today! read more

Reading most of the reviews, I can see that poor customer service is common. While I understand that customer service is important, there also needs to be a fine line between being "helpful" and being too "forward." My friend came looking for a magnetic whiteboard, stood in the whiteboard section and when an employee went to go ask him for help my friend responded with, "Just looking for a whiteboard." (Clearly hinting that he was already fine where he was by even pointing to the small selection of whiteboards.) The employee kept becoming assertive and "helpful" by trying to make a sale and my friend, not wanting to be rude, even said he was fine. The employee even called ANOTHER employee to come and help him. As you can imagine, this was a little bit time consuming. The employee's kept trying to help but in the end my friend left feeling awkward, uncomfortable, and annoyed, not wanting to ever come back. (P.S. He never purchased a whiteboard.) Employees, please understand that while your help is well appreciated at times, customers also need their space as well. read more

I needed to buy some raffle tickets for an event. And after searching target's 183740172470920983 shelves (because OF COURSE target has everything), I came out of target empty handed. I called staples and made sure they carried raffle tickets before I drove over to the store on mountain. I walked in there and saw no one. It was strange. No customers. Anyways, I went straight to someone who worked there to get directions to the raffle tickets. Sure enough, the girl helping me directed me to exactly where they were. They had a pretty wide selection of raffle tickets too!! I also bought some sharpies and poster board. It was a little expensive, and I had high hopes that I could get some Mr. Sketch pens instead of sharpies......I got home and started making my posters and ALL of the Sharpies were dried out :( I paid ~$10 for them. I'm considering returning them, but I already opened the package and I guess sharpies should have an expiration date. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the cashier was polite and courteous. I went there to buy a box to ship something and one of the associates told me that Copy and Print could help me size the box down to fit what I was going to ship. After I purchased the box, I went to Copy and Print and the associate had no idea what I meant when I told him I wanted to size down the box, therefore he had no idea how to help me. Called about a price matching for an item on Amazon. I asked all the questions to make sure they would match the price for a amazon fire stick. I was told they would do it. I went in to make my purchase and was told they couldn't price match. The female I spoke to on the phone about 20 minutes before already left. Staples in Upland at 300 S. Mountain Ave. I visited the Staples store in Upland CA, 300 S. Mountain Ave. on October 29, 2018 As I walked in I did not find any salesperson on the floor to assist me. I headed towards a salesperson that was currently assisting another customer. I asked her if she could please get someone to help me. She asked a male associate to assist me. He walked up to me and I spoke to him to acknowledge. He looked at me with a blank look on his face. So, I spoke to him again thinking perhaps he did not hear me. And again, he did not open his mouth. I said to him, "oh you are not going to speak to me today and his response was "NO"... can I help you. I said "No". Where is your manager? I would like to speak with your manager. He takes a few steps and the manager is walking toward us. I begin to tell her what just transpired and how rude he was. Her response was I'm sorry, can I help you. I began to tell her what I was looking for but could not concentrate the whole time. I was so upset and disturbed I forgot to tell her the other item I was looking for. I was still so very livid I decided that I must report his actions to Corporate. I asked for his name and she basically said Charlie and that she did not provide his last name but said he was the only Charlie in the store. I said what is his last name and the correct spelling, she said Robel. I then asked her what her name was, it's Lori, I'm the General Manager. She was very dumb-found and did not know what to do or to say. I can only assume that it was racial - there's no other explanation. I truly believe that if I was a Caucasian, Charlie would not have had an issue speaking to me and providing me with customer service as he was hired at Staples to provide. I placed my complaint with the Corporate office the next morning. I was assured from Corporate that they take these matters very seriously and they apologized profusely. However, they did not let me know what actions would be taken nor have they followed up with me regarding my complaint. I will never step foot in Staples ever again and will tell my family and friends not to patronize Staples and ask them to forward this to their family and friends. read more
