Then after a tiny fall onto carpet from less than a foot, the screen cracked again, which shouldn't happen with a proper repair. I came back to explain how ridiculous this is, but nothing was done. The quality doesn't match the price at all--it honestly feels like a scam. On top of that, when my mom tried to explain the issue, she was clearly being dismissed and not taken seriously. I definitely do not recommend this business. This guy is a cut corners kind of guy. He doesn't save you money because, once you let him open it, it's no longer under warranty. You have two options to get an after market screen which is cheaper (70 +tax), or the standard Apple screen which runs about 90 depending on the level of damage. UPDATE: It seems I missed the feedback from the business (below). I'm always so surprised when a business responds critically or dismissive of a past customer. I checked: It is indeed a 5th generation IPad. Also, this is the correct location/business. Zero mistake there. My break down of fees in my original post was my PERSONAL justification of the price, not an actually itemization! Yeah, it's weird that I do that, but I had to justify the price of a cheap part so I don't feel robbed. You might be interested to know that the glass recently cracked again last week. Didn't drop it. Just picked it up from a corner and felt it crack through the cover. Bummer, because if the original repair had been done with what the place told me I was paying for (tempered glass) I may have been able to hold off on a second repair less than a year after the first. Instead, the repair was made with very thin (definitely not original IPad part) glass. I use the iPad for school and while the glass repair here did not affect my writing, it did get a lot of glare from fingerprints way easier than my newer IPad. I think ultimately, the replacement glass never sat right on the frame--remember how I mentioned that the home button was no longer flush? That probably kills the integrity quite a bit. See original review below! I paid $86 with tax for an iPad glass repair on a 4th gen iPad. I requested and confirmed tempered glass, original part replacement. I was so pleased with the nice man who made the effort to get my iPad back to me by that evening after I expressed some desperation to get it back asap, since it had my school notes in it and I had a test in two days. Maybe I should have known better, but a week later, when I tossed it on the table a bit too hard (not crazy hard!) it cracked in a corner. My bad. But I was able to see that the glass was not tempered. That rubbed me the wrong way. The home button is no longer flush, either. I'm going to go ahead and guess this is not an original Apple replacement part either. Crap. Overall, I am happyish. I broke it down like this: I paid $86 for a $10 part and $50 in labor and $26 rush fee. It got the job done, but I have a feeling it will not last. Live and learn! read more
