WE WERE ROBBED AND CHEATED BY STAPLES!! In their store are large signs that read "Get Peace of Mind" let us give your computer a physical. Mine was running very well, no problems. So I did as they commanded, "disconnect the unit and drive it to the store for examination." When they started up the monitor to see its status the window showed " No entrance permitted."
"Don't worry we will check it out." I called on Saturday, about picking up the machine. The man said, "It is not ready, but it will be by the time you get here." When I picked up, the machine, they tried to show me that it worked correctly, but the same window appeared- "no entrance permitted." They had 2 or 3 fellows try to get it removed, but no one had success. "No problem, take it home it will OK. " Apparently, everything that could wrong had been done to this computer. Nothing worked properly. Type faces were different and changed by themselves , monitor did not fill the space of the frame, borders on all sides, emails started to change fonts and sizes automatically, a great many problems. Discussions on the phone with the store manger - Jose - did not produce results, but 2 times he offered to come down and correct the many problems , at my home. Each different phone call on which he offered this , I said, "Yes. Come on down." Each time after a bit more talked he withdrew the offer. I asked for a print out of the condition of the computer when delivered to them and what the numbers were on a print out when it was picked up. They have never supplied me with before and after numbers or results. I expressed this information and a considerable more to the President of Staples - one transmission by fax was well over 10 pages. They rejected all factual, documented facts presented to them, explaining our great problems. We were without recourse. Our $199 was theirs and we had a init with many problems. We had a test run on the unit and it showed multiple, multiple problems, we furnished these numbers to Staples President. They had made up mind. So we had to pay to get the unit repaired and corrected and made to run correctly. We hired Comcast.net who provides 24/7 technical support , by taking over the computer and making corrections, in your home, no delivery to a store needed. Thus far, they have had 7 different correction sessions, with one running over an hour. The unit is now back to where it was previous to the destruction given the unit by Staples. They did make one more mistake. One fellow on the phone told, me: "W#e send out the work, we don't do it at the store." May I suggest that if you have read this far that you go to any one but Staples, if you have computer performance problems. They will deteriorate your performance, but to do that it will cost you, at least $199, or more. Go to Office depot for your office products, no sense supporting a company that performs in this unethical. The Ethics policy they publish, is certainly for public reading not for Staples to follow!!! read more
