There is no coordination between the shipping counter UPS and getting a receipt at the Amazon return counter. Why do you need to walk over to another counter for a receipt??? Not to mention the absolute rudeness when I asked kindly if they could give me my receipt. Don't waste your time here. The customer service is terrible. Every time I've come in, I've had to wait an hour or make multiple trips. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they were just short-staffed, but the final straw was with some banners I ordered 4-5 months ago. I paid for a digital copy, but they never sent it. I asked the manager several times when the design was first done, but it was never delivered. Most recently, I waited over an hour again, was promised a manager would call me that same day (they never did), and when I followed up in person, the new manager told me she "doesn't have time to look for it." Just had the worst customer experience of my life. What is happening in this world? I had to print double sided and the self printing computer did not allow myself or the associate to print double sided. I asked associate if she could help me at the counter. She printed my pages. Told me the cost and it was higher than the self printing by a few dollars. I asked her why? And she said there was a "rush fee". I told her it was unfair for her to charge me this as their system wasn't allowing the basic function. She said she would remove the fee and I thanked her. Then under her breath she says "Puta Madre". Like how is that okay? Never going here again. I cannot believe the complete lack of basic human respect. This is absolutely mind blowing. Management is too young, Miguel is his name. admitted he is not experienced in customer service and also told me he wasn't going to choose sides. Staples print team used to be good, we'd have some issues from time to time but they were always quickly fixed. The old team is gone and the new print center team is clueless and SLOW. I waited on hold for over 40 minutes and ultimately had to go into the store and get the manager of the store involved to resolve my issue. I don't know who trained the new gal on customer service or their print technology but her lack in both areas wasted a lot of time for me/my business. I went to Staples to print high resolution photos for a legal hearing. I received excellent service from Shay. She set up my photos that needed to be zoomed in, without loss of pixel quality. She did a fabulous job for me, and handled other customers in between working for me. Great multi tasking and service! I recently visited your Staples store located in San Rafael CA and I wanted to share my experience with you, specifically regarding the customer service I received. Upon entering the store, I encountered an issue at the shipping area where I sought assistance from a Hispanic woman with tattoos (neck/ear,arms). Unfortunately, the encounter was less than satisfactory. After providing all necessary information for my package retrieval, her demeanor was extremely rude throughout the interaction. At the beginning of our interaction after telling her this is my first time and this is all the information I have, she looked at me and said, "well I can't help you." Rude is an understatement. I was shocked by the way she acted in front of customers and towards me. I understand she didn't know what she was doing but that didn't excuse her demeanor. I understand that everyone has their off days, but the level of rudeness was quite surprising. It was my first time at the store, and I expected a more positive experience. I appreciate the assistance provided by an older woman. She were helpful and courteous. The Hispanic woman needs to be talked to by management and be given some training in customer service, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and a positive attitude. well looks like the talent pool is dwindling everywhere i go! i walked in to get 3 cartridges and 2 toners! i had 5 pcs for recycling and 2 fax cartridges that have NOT been used! i guess it starts with the first impression! the cashier that helped me thought the NEW fax cartridges were part of the recycling, but didnt see the exchange or credit applied to the receipt so here i am waiting for the manager, who wont drop what theyre doing to resolve my issue without a receipt! i was told to wait 15 minutes to resolve my issue and still NOTHING! waited 20 min! resolved my issue! one extra star for that! now back to the smart guy that screwed up! ughh fml read more

I stopped by to simply print one page using the self help printers. The man working the counter said I could enlarge my image using the prompts on the screen of the printer. Not true! After attempting to print multiple times, I then asked if he could enlarge it for me so I didn't waste more $. He replied yes, but it would take a while. Really? You can't print one page and enlarge an image with all the printers you have behind the counter in a timely manner? Thanks for nothing! My elderly mother went ther to buy a computer power cord. She brought the computer to them, by they STILL sold her the wrong cord. Now I have to spend a bunch of time helping my elderly mother return the incorrect cord because the staples employees couldn't do their job. If staples had good customer service then they would have verified that the product they sold my elderly mother was correct. Today I called for a reprint of a receipt I was unable to locate for credit card reconciliation purposes, and the manager Simon, was so very helpful and quick to assist me. Whenever I read a review as positive as the one I'm about to write, I always think it's a fake, that some friend, family member, or marketing advisor was enlisted to rave about the business. Yet I genuinely cannot say enough good things about Staples in San Rafael. It is so refreshing to shop at a store that truly cares about serving the consumer and the community at large. 1) I went into Staples to mail a bulky carpet back to the seller. Staples did everything to assist me, including printing out the address label, and charged me nothing! 2) Staples accepted my big old printer for recycling even though I bought nothing that day. 3) Several months later I went to both Staples and Best Buy to buy a new laser printer. The Best Buy employee shrugged their shoulders and said they didn't have the printer I wanted and couldn't get it any time soon. Staples in San Rafael ordered it for me on the spot. It was delivered to my home 2 days later. 4) When I opened my fancy new HP printer, I couldn't figure out how to install it. I called the Staples store in San Rafael and quickly got a free expert on the line. In a very clear and courteous way, he told me everything I needed to know to get the printer connected to Wifi and zipping out the pages right away. Staples in San Rafael has earned my loyalty. Couldn't say whether all their stores are this awesome, but wouldn't be surprised if Staples at large has a "Can-Do, Consumer-First" philosophy. read more

I haven't been to Staples in forever, but it was my third stop Friday, 10/1/21, to try to find a particular type of Square reader that everyone in town seemed to be out of. I was working an event for my employer and had just realized my phone was incompatible with the reader given to me by my employers. I was frustrated and out of time. Everyone in the store was nice and tried to help me. It didn't seem like they had what I needed so I headed to my car. One employee (wish I could remember his name) came out and said to come back in. Closest office supply store to my hood. Takes 20 minutes on the 101 to get there, another 10 to get to 101. And I don't live in the sticks. Why doesn't someone put a decent priced office supply store in Strawberry or Mill Valley? Or even in Sausalito / Marin City? We have offices down here. We do real work. We need supplies. And with the price of gasoline it shouldn't have to be an expedition to get a box of paper or some printer ink. Just a thought. I went into staples to print out some important documents and I was having a bit of a hard time understanding the self serve and the print by email functions. Maybe that makes me an idiot but whatever I was struggling and I asked the employee behind the copy&print counter for help. He didn't say a single word to me just walked around the counter and gave me the instruction card with the most basic instructions. I asked if he could give me some actual guidance and he said the instructions are all there. Clearly I was struggling and it's his job to help...I pressed him more about actually taking me through the steps and I was met with the most condescending tone from a customer service employee!!! I work in customer service so I know how you're supposed to behave and this was sooooo upsetting. He spoke to me like I was an idiot. I didn't get his name unfortunately. I went to the front of the store and another employee Carolynn was so incredibly helpful. She took me through it step by step and was so kind. I started crying because I was so upset about the interaction I had with the other employee and again she was so sweet and comforting. I typically don't write reviews but I am just completely shocked at the experience I had. That guy was an absolute tool. read more

I should have checked with Yelp first. My iPhone 7 had a cracked screen, I went online to find a place to repair the glass and Staples seemed reasonable. I called to make sure they had the parts required to fix an iPhone 7. The tech said he did so I braved the morning traffic on 101 Southbound​ and got to the store. The tech, ARA, was the same person I talked to on the phone. He looked at the phone, and after a series of examinations he said the phone was not bent, and he could install new glass. So far so good. Then he asked for the passcode. In this day and age, I'm not going to leave my phone unlocked for anyone to browse through my information or credit cards associated with my Apple Pay. Ara said he could not repair the phone without the passcode. I mentioned to him that the Staples website had a statement in the FAQ section saying that they could fix a phone without the passcode and the customers would have to understand that the phone might not be tested completely. No problem, I just needed the glass replaced. He went on to say he could not fix the phone without the passcode because he needed to test the camera, microphone,​ and speaker after the glass was replaced. The camera, microphone,​ and speaker are not attached to the glass. I took the phone and started to walk out with ARA's sarcastic chorus of "have a Nice Day" as my farewell. I have attached the picture of the FAQ answer on the Staples website. I drove in heavy traffic 40 minutes to get to the store during my work day and had to drive 25 minutes back. All a waste of time. I run a small business, and my wife is an accountant. We will not be using either the San Rafael Staples of the one 4 miles away in Novato which seems never to have supplies to fix iPhone 7's. ​I get tired of service people lying to either steal my identity or get out of work. read more

Staples - Printing Services Near Me - San Rafael, California

Never again. This is a public service announcement: don't waste your time printing stuff here if it's more than a very very simple print job. Go to the FEDEX Store around the corner and use their printers, which are new and can handle basic things like printing a single PDF with multiple page sizes. I've tried printing at Staples for two print jobs. The first was printing ~a dozen PDFs to put into a three ring binder, totaling ~1,000 pages. I knew it would be tricky to get what I wanted so started by going into the store with everything on a USB drive. Was walked by staff over to the self serve printers and instructed to select each PDF separately and print and wait. This would have easily wasted half of my day. I indicated I wanted them to upload the files and do the printing and they said the only way for them to do that would require me uploading everything online - but because their internet was so slow, I gave up trying to do this in store and went home to do it. Unfortunately, once you upload PDFs to their website and it quotes the price, there's no way to delete most of the PDFs if you want to reduce the print job - you can only delete the top three PDFs listed due to poor coding in their system. I uploaded my suite of files 3-4 times until I found a price that was reasonable (removing files I cared less about having in hard copy) and submitted. Got a call a few hours later that I would have to come in to the store with everything on a USB drive since their system couldn't handle the file size (apparently once submitted, their system creates one PDF from all the individual PDFs). So I went in for the second time that day to do what I intended to do the first time - provide files via a USB drive for them to print. When I went in the third time, everything was printed but PDF pages that were 11x17 were printed as 8.5x11. There were colored sheets between each PDF without a three hole punch (like the rest of the document) which was annoying. Print job #2 experience was several simple 5-10 page documents, some with various page sizes. Essentially the staff indicated their printers can't handle various page sizes in one PDF and then left. So I was prepared to individually select pages in each document and print them a separate jobs but the printer kept crashing and rebooting and I struggled for 10 minutes to try to get past the authorize payment screen, without luck. Extremely frustrated, I left and went to FEDEX store 2 mins around the corner on 2nd and what a breath of fresh air... new printers, everything works and is tuned and intuitive. Was in and out within 5 minutes with exactly what I needed. read more

We're all doing the best we can right now and the staff at this Staples made my clusterf*ck of a day a little bit easier and I appreciate all small gestures. This particular day on top of health ailments and a tight timeline at work, the printer ink that arrived via Amazon over the past two days didn't work in the not-very-old HP printer. There's a new chip that makes it so the old printer won't read the ink cartridges. Even trying to be sneaky and Frankensteining the new chip onto the old cartridge won't help you by the way. So, I was prepared to get more cartridges at Staples this morning at 8am. I called to make it seamless to be sure they were in stock and waiting. I picked them up promptly and made sure they were returnable if they also had the same unrecognizable chip issue. When these cartridges didn't work, I ran them back to Staples and the staff greeted me kindly, recommended the most reasonably priced printer for my office needs and credited me for the cartridges and got me on my way. Friendly customer service is everything right now and I'm particularly impressed with this Staples. We all know emotions are running high (Covid, election next week, you name it...). Thank you, Staples, for helping me maintain my sanity. Carrying the printer to my vehicle was just what I needed. You are true professionals! (Shout out to Simon and Chi!) read more

Where to begin? My experience here was nothing short of a nightmare. I would give them zero stars if the option was available. Let me explain what I went through today because of the staff at Staples in San Rafael... The office (based out of Novato) computer breaks down, we need to get Windows 8. After our first trip to the Novato store we learn that they do not have windows 8 in stock. Before even leaving the Novato store I have called the San Rafael Staples and spoke with Estefan, who informs me that they have Windows 8 in stock. I put it in hold with Estefan and we get back in the car to journey 15+ miles down to the other store. (**This whole process is being done in a time crunch because the business computer has crashed during business hours.**) We arrive to the store and follow the instructions Estefan has given to pick it up at the "easy tech" center. Upon requesting to pick up the Windows 8 on hold we are informed that "actually, we're all out..." Of course I repeat, "no, I called 20 minutes ago and put it on hold.. Who did I speak with to put it on hold?" Estefan replies "you spoke to me. I went and checked after I got off the phone with you and we actually don't have any..." I almost couldn't believe it. My manager and I exchanged looks and I'm sure the steam could be seen shooting from our ears. I immediately went and got the manager- who turned out to be almost as useless as the other employees now around. We managed to take a deep breathe and moved past Estefan's major slip up which was literally costing us money. Then addresses the next issue. While at the Novato Staples we saw a Quickbooks program listed at $249.99, but it was listed at $429.99 in the San Rafael Staples. There are now 4 employees hovering around, who are not helping and making this interaction even more difficult. One of which keeps shaking his head after he scans it, saying "it's $429.99, it says it right here." Almost implying we are making this price up out of thin air, or lying. After practically hold the managers hand through the process of calling the other store to check their listed price and find out which one was correct, Willy (the manager) then informs me that if I want to drive to the Novato Staples that they can give me the Quickbooks program for $249.99. When I arrived at Staples in Novato I was informed that the San Rafael staples could have given us the program at the lower price very easily.. In fact- the Novato manager had actually encouraged the San Rafael manager to proceed with the transaction to save us time, which their employee had just wasted. $$$Money was Lost today thanks to this particular establishment and their team of employees. Even if you don't read this entire Yelp review I have just spent significant time writing... REMEMBER-- DO NOT go to this Staples !!! It's a Staples, so you know they've got you covered if you need basic office supplies. But something about this particular Staples seems just a little disorganized, a little abnormal, just slightly subpar. I went in to get a spiral notebook, no big deal. I wanted the most unfancy spiral notebook you can imagine: spiral binding, 70-100 sheets, college ruled. Recycled material would be a bonus. No fancy covers, no pockets, no tabs, no value added. The notebook section was disorganized and not fully stocked. A giant metal "do not climb this ladder" ladder was positioned precisely in front of the unfancy spiral notebooks but the ones that were stocked there were the 3 subject and I only really needed one subject. (See: earlier description) I'm not saying I went up the "do not climb this ladder" ladder, but if I would have, there would have been an abundance of precisely the kind of notebooks I needed in the overhead storage. Heading to the checkout, I saw all the cashiers were busy. No problem. I have a strict policy of patient waiting. I'm holding my 1 subject unfancy spiral notebook in one hand and a crisp $5 bill in the other. My transaction will take mere seconds, I am telegraphing to the cashier. When the cashier finishes with the customer in front of me, she scans my notebook and tells me my total and I proffer the crisp $5 bill. That's when she walked away. She just walked on over to the adjacent cashier's station and began to help her with some difficulty that cashier was having with an uncomprehending customer, a credit card, photo identification which must be removed from the plastic window in the wallet. Time is passing. My crisp $5 bill is looking wilted, or perhaps that's my normally unflagging optimism and general cheery nature beginning to wilt. The uncomprehending man is not understanding about taking the photo identification out of the plastic window in the wallet. With one longing look at the unfancy notebook sitting there by the laser scanner on the abandoned checkout station, I take my crisp $5 bill and I leave the store. I would have bet $5 that I'd have been able to buy a plain, college-ruled, one-subject, spiral-bound notebook at Staples but that's one bet I would have lost. read more

Especially when the finger is pointed at me.] I love office supplies. LOVE. They represent such potential for that elusive thing some call "organization." They represent the DREAM. Recently I bought a laser pointer from Staples. I had it a bit over a month and decided I didn't want to keep it. I was told that in order to return it I had to pay a fee!! I would have been happy to take store credit (instead of the fee). The laser pointer was in perfect condition with all of the packaging in place. After I accepted the charge--I didn't want to be stuck with it--I was told that I would get store credit. I wasn't going to pay a fee AND get store credit. I made a fuss and they refunded my card. What happened to good old-fashioned customer service. I'm going to take my business elsewhere. read more

I recently had a problem with a printer and the assistant manger Simon was incredible, He worked with me around my issue replaced the printer twice and made sure that I went home with a good working machine. Don't use the print center. They charged me $25 to print 45 black and white pages. Ridiculous but i was in a bind and needed it done. I also had a poster printed here for a presentation. I ordered it online and opted to pick it up in store. The website said to allow 4 hours for printing. I gave them over 8 hours when i arrived at the store and it was not done. The lady at the counter said "oh i was just going to call you. I havent printed your poster yet" i asked her when it would be done and she said "i dont know". i told her to have it done in one hour. She got it done which was great and the quality of the print was okay but they dont offer any containers for the poster either.. just a large plastic bag which certainly did not protect it on the plane.. read more

I have tried twice to place orders via email and both times, even after I call to confirm receipt of the email, they have either lost the order or messed up the print job. Like most of the business in the area, it's isolated and not as well maintained as other Staples properties. But often running in here for last minute items needed towards deadlines and the friendly staff is always helpful. Their standout would have to be pointing out any sales or manufacturer rebates, etc. associated to something you are about to buy or are asking about. Have even had pricing for something else matched when I showed a duplicate item I needed and pulled a receipt from another store so they could get the sku -- and I never even asked. They have a number of service bureau type of services available along with special ordering. They go out of their way to make sure they can be the ones to provide you with a specialty item that may have to be ordered and delivered to your door. Location is a pain, so if you miss the turnoff, you're back onto the freeway. read more

Anyway, onto my point -- I went in there looking for a specific laptop bag and they didn't have it in stock. The cashier called Willy up to help me and I showed him on my phone which bag it was and that I would like to order it since they only had the next size up for $50 dollars more... And instead of ordering that one and making me wait, he actually dropped the price by $50 and gave me the bag!! I am in total shock with this customer service, very excellent. So thank you Willy! This is in regards to their copy and print department. I had a falling out with local print shop who i found out actually charged about triple what staples charges. I showed them what i needed they got me proof same day. They quoted me 7-10 business days. I called them with payment. Gave payment on Friday afternoon. I received my print (2000 pages) on Monday. They were quicker than what they quoted. I'm impressed. Just placed another order with them for envelopes and can't wait to see the product. Wish i checked into copy and print center sooner. They are now my go to for everything print related. read more
