When I have old electronics that are either not functional or still marginally functional, I bring them to Renew Computers. Also, when I couldn't find any place to drop an old iPhone, they would accept that too! Sometimes, it is just good to have a place to bring things That you don't want around the house anymore. I have been a customer of Renew for several years, and have purchased at least two refurbished computers from them. I've always been assisted promptly and courteously, until today. I am planning to upgrade my laptop, and dropped in to see what they had. A couple of other people were being helped, so I sat down to wait. And wait, and wait. No one asked me if I'd been helped, or what I needed. One guy was pricing something and placed it on a shelf right in front of me, ignored me, and went back behind the counter. My computer was not charging, even though plugged in. After several attempts at customer service with Dell and failing, I remember Renew. I took the computer in and was told someone would contact within day or so. As promised the person called and told the adaptor may have worn out and he would ordering a part and I should the computer by November 24th. Best recycling experience. Couldn't be easier... handed over the electronics for recycling... including cords and old Christmas lights. Handed the guy $5 to recycle the microwave, received a receipt for that tiny fee, and left. We had told our neighbors we were going so were able to collect a trunk- load of small appliances. The location is easy to reach  with  a parking lot... no messing with a dirty dump or inconvenient hours or systems. During Covid folks were just unpacking their trunks and being waved on... super easy. read more

I have bought both refurbished tower computers and laptop computers from them over the years for personal use and business use where I work and so the businesses use them also for their computer needs. I am sure that there are many knowledgeable, competent computer repair technicians in Marin County. I don't expect to meet them, however. Other than dropping off e-waste for recycling, this is the 2nd time I have used them for a critical task. Again, they delivered with competence, speed and courtesy. These guys techs are the best. I had a minor issue with my laptop running slow, especially considering it's not even a year old. Renew did a quick counter diagnosis and corrected a few things, primarily unused/needed Chrome extensions. He also gave me a few tips and and disk maintenance sites. It's now running fine. I tried to pay them for this but they said no need to. I'll definitely be back the next time I need PC repairs. They also have a nice selection of used PCs and Apples. read more

Someone broke into my computer. It was awful and felt like such an invasion. Saidel worked on my computer and he did such a great job. He had also recently worked on my laptop and made it like brand new !!!! I took my big one over to Renew computer and they installed "Norton" which is a free down load from Comcast and Saidel worked on this one too. He took a program off that the culprits were able to sneak into my computer and now I feel safe. Renew computer is definitely the best place to go here in Marin! My headphone jack got stuck inside the portal of my laptop and broke off. I have an older Laptop with Windows 8. I asked the sales clerk at Best Buy if a Bluetooth would work on machine. He said yes it should not be a problem. I purchased a $50 headset. brought it home and found out that my laptop was not compatible. I went back the next day and after several minutes of them doing the same thing that I did at home, returned the headset. I then decided to take a look at the new laptops. Just browsing. Another sales rep approached me. I told him what had happened. He tried to sell me a USB plug that works with Bluetooth. Of course it was not compatible. All of this took around 2 hours. When It could of been as easy in and out. I then drove around the corner to a computer repair store. "Renew" . They sold me a used headset than plugs into my USB port. For $10.00 . It works perfect. These guys are great ! At first they tried to take out the stuck jack. No Luck. Then they found a used head set. I am so grateful to them. They saved me allot of money and stress. read more

These folks repaired the cooling fan in my laptop. It's at the bottom of the case and it's a pain to do since I've done it. Besides doing a great job with that, they transferred the data from a broken external hard drive to a new one.
