Do not use- After selling me a program for monitoring ,they never responded after 3 weeks of attempts thru emails and phone calls, to get passwords to use the program- and also selling me equipment I didn't need. Hurray for competent people and a well-run small company! I went to Yelp to find someone to help me clean up my Mac and advise me on how to improve performance. I was pretty much expecting to be told my iMac was too old to work with...but no. Shiva comes exactly on time and says "No problem. Great machine...just needs extra space". Hurray! Also advises on improvements to overall Wifi, etc. that MMT does not receive any profit from, and provides the resources on where to get best price. When there are the usual followup questions after my Mac has a bigger brain, I get immediate responses to my texts and remote support that gets all straightened out in no time. I would absolutely recommend them and so glad I made the "preventive" appointment before having a total system crash. Will follow any advice they provide from now on. read more

Called them and left a message on a Thursday about a month ago. I also emailed the same day using their website form, indicating the specific issues I was having (model, OS, RAM, etc.). The next day I got a return call from their admin saying only that someone would come to my house and it would cost $140 ($150?) for an hour. Told her I had emailed with the specifics, and I asked to speak with a technical person for a few minutes first, to get their view on my issues, whether they could solve it, and if so, how long it might take. She assured me I would be contacted. I received no reply to my email and no call. read more

DO NOT USE this company! Complete false advertising. They quoted me saying the work would cost a maximum of $500, and wouldn't do any work unless they had my permission first. They did the work and then the bill came to over $1,000. I did not pay and then they threatened to take it to collections. They didn't even have my signature on any kind of contract. I was so irritated with the whole process after they hounded me with calls and texts, that I finally paid them almost $500, for basically nothing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY with this company. Im so glad I met Travis. What a find. I did a huge photo job on Saturday, and Sunday morning when I went to sort through my work, my laptop would not start. In a panic I called several repair people and immediately received an email, then a call. Within two hours, travis came to my house and was able to salvage some of my work. I'll start by saying that I'm a real person, and that nobody paid me to write this. : ) I originally found Marin Mac Tech through their good reviews on Yelp, and I had such a positive experience with them, I wanted to let people know. Shiva is the tech who helped us. He is incredibly knowledgeable and personable. He came to our house to pick up our computers and drop them off when finished for no extra charge. My wife had a 2009 Mac notebook that had gotten too slow and was in need of a new hard drive. I had an external hard drive that had been accidentally deleted and I wanted to recover photos from it. My wife's computer was a quick turnaround. Shiva Installed the hard drive and the new operating system and had it back to her within two days, and charged us for only an hour's work. The external hard drive ended up being much more complicated, having to be completely dismantled for mechanical malfunction, and when that didn't solve it, Shiva did a time-consuming deep dive to rescue thousands and thousands of photos that would've otherwise been gone forever. Most amazing, after nearly 2 weeks of work on it, it still didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Very, very generous and thoughtful. Altogether, I was very impressed by Shiva's thoughtfulness and thoroughness and I would highly recommend the company. read more

Shiva is awesome!!!!! As a very non-tech person, I need lots of help when my computer is not running correctly and acting very slow.. After two days on the phone with Comcast, it was evident this was not an internet connection problem but a virus issue. I found Marin Mac Tech through Yelp along with a few other repair places. Travis called me back immediately, listened to my symptoms and made an appointment for Shiva to come out the next day (although they work primarily on Macs, Travis said they would able to help with my PC). Shiva was awesome! Prompt, friendly and explained all the issues and the repair scenarios with metaphors I could understand. He worked quickly and efficiently, ran scans and eliminated a nasty "worm" virus. Shiva also left me with with written instructions so I can initiate ongoing scans and hopefully feel more comfortable with some computer maintenance. I simply can't say enough about Shiva and his staff at Marin Mac Tech. My main design computer (27" i7) had a hard drive meltdown... and although I back up all client files to my server, there was a ton of stuff on the i7 that hadn't been backed up. Shiva worked miracles and was able to recover most of the data, and got me up and running quickly with a new SSD drive installed with the latest OS X. I'm telling you, if you need a company that knows its $hit and can get the job done for a reasonable cost, Shiva and Marin Mac Tech is the place to go. 2 years ago I wrote a review regarding Marin Mac Tech. I have continued to use them with total satisfaction ever since. Recently I realized that most of my tech stuff was so old and out of date that some of it would no longer update. I decided to bite the bullet and get a new iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro and a new 27 in. iMac. I wanted them to all be in sync. Over the past 2 years Shiva has become familiar with my tech use and needs so I called on him to guide me through making the best choices and to order any extras as far as storage and memory were concerned. Once purchased from the Apple Store via Marin Mac Tech, he backed up everything from my old equipment to my new. No easy task as I am a hoarder of photos and information as well as emails and don't like to lose anything. Along the way he eliminated some bad malware that had crept into my old computers. I must admit there was quite a bit of adjustment to be made on my part as a lot of stuff was new to me and I kept getting messages regarding things that needed to be done. Shiva was on call, both in person and via remote access, to shepherd me through the transition period. I could not have done it without him. He is a definite wizard when it comes to all things tech. He does not fool around, gets right to the problem and fixes it and helped me to understand what I need to do along the way.
