I've been coming to this Staples on Pump Road for years, and the customer service is consistently outstanding, but this last visit truly went above and beyond. I needed to have an item shipped to the store and held for about a week, and the manager, Jordan, handled every detail flawlessly. He stayed on top of everything and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. On top of that, I ran into a few complications with my order, and Jordan didn't hesitate, he quickly figured it all out and got everything taken care of without any hassle. You can really tell this store is well-run and that the employees are treated well, everyone is friendly, helpful, and genuinely seems happy to be there. 11 out of 10 stars for Staples Short Pump! I have used this store to handle Amazon returns and to purchase a few items. Staff are sometimes nice but generally I get the feeling most are trying to avoid making eye contact and don't jump in to help. The Amazon return process needs improvement. The cashier working the front handles the returns. But there is a separate line for the Amazon returns. Recently, when I visited, I was the first person in line for the Amazon returns while there was one other person already being helped by the cashier. The cashier glanced in my direction, so I know she knew I was there. The person she was handling was having a very slow transaction as he kept requesting different things. No problem, that's not her fault. But then, she proceeded to help the next three people that came in the cashier line, even though they arrived well after me. I decided to interject and ask if I was in the right line for Amazon returns. She looked at me, curtly said yes, then went back to taking care of the cashier line. Not a great way to handle the situation. I honestly try to avoid this store but sometimes cant due to the Amazon returns. read more

This Staples is located in the Short Pump Crossing Shopping Center in Short Pump. It is located in a shopping center with Publix toward the other end of the shopping center. The store is easy to get to from the major roads connected. My visit here was on March 25, 2018. When you first come into the place, it is very clean and well kept up. Staff were available to help as needed. After entering, the ink cartridges area is on the left wall. I hadn't gotten to a store yet to look for ink cartridges, so I figured we'd take a look here since I was already there. On this particular visit, after some help from the staff, they didn't have the ones that I needed at the time. That's okay though. I just figured I'd check it out anyways since Staples is not a staple back home in Virginia Beach and the Hampton Roads area. However, they do have many office staples that you may need. Service itself from the staff was great and made that part a good experience for me. Overall, I had a good experience here. If and when I am up in that area again, I would check the place out again. The place to go if you need to be disrespected by an employee that has no idea how to do his job. I have shipped several packages to the same place from this location but for some reason yesterday after we dished out an insult after I tried to make it easy for him by looking up my telephone number we all of a sudden forgot how to do our job. Then on my way out I noticed 2 employees staring at the ceiling instead of helping an employee that had no clue what he was doing. Thanks y'all you won't have to worry about me coming back. They are severely understaffed and I waited in front of a display chair for 30 minutes for them to take one minute and grab a new chair from the back and check me out. They completely wasted my time because the manager at the front wouldn't leave his office to help me. They said I was "being helped" already, meaning standing and waiting until their one floor associate was done helping a customer who took 30 minutes to check out and order a chair online. read more

Staples has been my go to office supply place for years. At one point, Staples prices increased and other local office supply stores were cheaper. If you're in need of office furniture, they offer a sale of up to 50% off certain times of the year which is very helpful. They have great back to school supply sales in the summer. They also sell tablets, computers, landline phones, shredders, etc. They can assist you with all of your printing, copying, and binding needs as well. read more

I had run into an issue in trying to submit a poster for printing online. I needed to go to Short Pump (roughly a 1 hour drive) for another matter and stopped by the Staples to try to figure out what was wrong with what I had tried to submit. The young lady at the print counter was able to show me where I had made the mistake and we submitted the order. I left figuring that I would have to drive back to Richmond later in the week to pick up the posters. Just as we finished our other errands, we received a call that our posters were ready. We had not requested any kind of rush service, evidently the young lady overheard us talking about coming back later in the week to pick up the posters. Just as we were finishing our errands, we received a call from Staples that the posters were done. This was a very pleasant surprize. I usually love Staples. This experience was not usual. Two friends and I popped in to use the computer and make print outs. It froze for a few minutes, so one of my friends went to ask Nelly in the copy and print center to help. By the time she did, it had started working again. She walked away, looking annoyed. Later, the printer ran out of paper while another gentleman and I were using it. My friend asked Nelly to help again. She was visibly rude and irritated. My extremely sweet friend wouldn't even ask this woman where the bathroom was, because of the way the associate was acting. I thought maybe it was just me, but both my companions felt the same way. I've used Staples for supplies and furniture for my small business for years. My experience at this one is making me question my decision. read more

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE STAPLES! I wish they had one in Virginia Beach/ Hampton Roads area. I was so excited when we moved to Richmond a year ago. Happy to be moving back to Va Beach in a few weeks, but one of the many things I will miss about Richmond is Staples! I guess because I am an office supply nerd! The sales are something else! It's a bonus to sign up for the staples rewards program! You get free shipping on anything ordered online. Also, you get regular emails with deals and specials going on. Yesterday, I received an email about the, "fill our ECO friendly bag whatever you can, and everything in the bag is 20% OFF!" (including sale items.) The only things not included are tablets and laptops of course. Today, my boyfriend and I trekked out to 2 diff Staples to get a "Brother" handheld label maker! Original price was 34.99, sale price 9.99!! I found it at the 2nd one, and since it fit in the "bag", it was an additional 20% off. A steal! The staff have always been friendly. There is even a girl who recognized me (and my love for Hello Kitty), because a couple of months ago, I came in and she asked, "Are you the Hello Kitty girl? You're the Hello Kitty girl, right? I've been waiting for you!" LOL! And she brought me over to this new Hello Kitty section; exclusive to Staples! You're dang right I bought a bunch of things. The two things I love the MOST about Staples, which I think Office Max and Depot totally and definitely lack, are GOOD PRICES AND SALES! Do not order your custom printing from Staples. This is the second time we have had issues with them. We ordered locally so that we could have them in time for a needed event. They were promised for 8:30pm on 12/7. At 12:15 PM on 12/9, I went to pick up my order and they had not started it. They said the machine had gone down the day before and they were backed up. They made no attempt to contact me and then told me it would take 20 minutes to print my order, so I waited. 45 minutes later it was done and I set my entire lunch hour waiting for something that should've been done before I got there. And, they did a crap job...cut off the business logo. read more

I've been using this store for years and have nothing bad to say about it. Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because 'nobody's perfect'. Have bought hardware, software, supplies, furniture, etc. The store is nicely laid out, with everything easy to find and, if you can't find something, the employees have always been helpful. The tech staff is good for hardware recommendations, repairs, new computer setup, etc. Haven't used the print shop, so I can't comment. Prices are good and very competitive. Like most people, I think, I hate paying extra money for extended warranties but typically do and it saved me having to buy a new computer one time. Would recommend this store to anyone. read more

Don't buy anything here. I bought a laptop and a printer here with a warranty. However, one year later I am stuck with a computer that only sometimes connects to the internet, crashes periodically, and will only print blank pages. But none of this is covered by their warranty because it is "not part of the computer." read more

Sales manager refused to sell me two printers and kicked me out of store. Called store in morning and was told that they would hold two printers for me. Traveled over two hours to the store. When I got there, they had those two printers and five others by same company of different models. Asked to buy all 7. Joshua Armentrout intervened and told me that I only could have one (1) printer, which is against Staples policy of limiting to two (2) if they want. He said that they had a regional store policy of limiting to 1 of ANY ITEM that they pleased "to combat resellers". Mr. Armentrout gave me the phone number of Dan Benchabbat, the Regional Manager, who never called me back. Called the "Office of the President" at Staples. Two nice ladies tried to help me. One even talked to Mr. Armentrout who gave her the same story. When I further tried to reason with Mr. Armentrout, he refused to sell me two of ANY printer or laptop. He contended that, in the 3-4 months since they had this new policy, they never sold more than one printer or laptop to any person. Mr. Armentrout told me this multiple times which does not seem credible. He then told me that I was being disruptive for merely trying to convince him to sell me 2 of the original printer as I was told that I could purchase before driving over two hours to the store. I left the store, called to make a complaint with the Office of the President of Staples, and wrote this review and possibly others later today. I have purchased approximately $50,000 in Staples supplies and products over the last few years. I will seek other avenues for my purchases like eBay and probably not go to even Office Depot or OfficeMax because they may be part of the same company now or in the near future. Mr. Armentrout should be ashamed of himself for treating a customer this way. read more
