I was disappointed with my experience at the Party City section inside Staples at The Landing. I wanted three balloons inflated with helium, but an employee told me there was a two-hour wait because all balloon orders must be preordered. The store was not busy, and the employee did not seem interested in helping. A second employee at checkout confirmed the same policy. While I understand stores have policies and existing orders to fulfill, it was frustrating to be turned away for such a small request when the store appeared quiet. People wonder why brick and mortar stores are closing, let me break it down for you. I HATE shopping at Amazon but we don't need to get into that right now. Came in here looking for shipping/packing tape and the customer service rep I ask just started working there so he didn't know where it was. (No big deal, not his fault) I walk around the store looking for the packing tape and finally found it. Went to pay it but there was an older lady asking every question imaginable. (Again, not their fault it's just part of being old.) then I found out how much the tape was and I looked online to see what it cost at Amazon. Come to find out Amazon was almost half the price, I get 2 more rolls and I will be able to get the packing tape by tomorrow. I use mostly for Amazon returns, and Stales is great for that. But I have been disappointed that print orders could not be completed the same day as advertised. And I was excited to learn they recycle electronics, called to confirm, and then only when I showed up with my dead computer, I learned they charge for it. $29 for my AIO. I won't do that again. And maybe this is true in all brick and mortar stores, but the prices for office supplies are soooo.... much higher than online, it's just hard to justify using them. read more

This store has a good supply of pens, paper, etc. What you'd expect of an office supply place. Unfortunately, they have some very sarcastic employees who don't seem to care if customers are happy. In particular, I have learned that this one worker with long hair tied back is a smart a*s. When I asked which register I should go to (because this store is notorious for moving their Amazon returns' "desk"), he points and says "There. Number 3." When I couldn't find the unmarked #3 register, he starts counting out loud "1,2,3", while still pointing. Couldn't move his big body to show me. This store also has a 60 + year old lady with short grey hair who tossed a bag at me and told (not asked) me to bag my own Amazon return. Then she grumpily said that customers needed to buy something and not just do returns at their store. HELLO!! Not my problem, lady!! Remember? I'm a customer! A very polite and quiet customer!! No problem though. I can go to Whole Foods to do my returns--where they don't harass customers. read more

I personally feel bad for the employees at this location. Not only as I watched two managers treat their associates like crap, arguing and talking down to them as if there's no customers watching. Once it became my turn for service the Mexican lady "excuse my description" was trying to give her undivided attention to help me but I assume it must be store manager came once again picking a fight. I felt awkward and apologized to her that I had to leave and took my business somewhere else. I just want to let you all know that I stop to this location to buy some coloring books for a trip with my kids . when I was ready to pay the manager on duty SAUL told me that he was not accepting any cash because they were about to closed the sore, I ask him to please take my cash but he refuse. I been and retail business for almost 30 years as Store manager and I had never ask my crew not to take cash for customers since the store still open and you are still in business hours. Terrible fucken store first and last time I go here. I went to go do a Amazon return guy who was "helping us out" was super rude and was being a smart ass with us. this was my first time returning a package so I was a little confused on how to do it. He told us he couldn't touch our return when quite frankly there was nothing to touch but a box of screws that where in a small bag lmao anyways there was 2 boxes one with what I ordered and the other was the Amazon box he took the smaller box and said he would return the items in there and I asked if he could just throw out the Amazon box for us he said "I can't take the box I don't really have space for it here" YOU'RE A SUPPLY STORE how do you not have space for it. For a return that should've been inside of it anyways. Since he was being rude we left the box there. This "man" had the audacity to tape the box and send it to my home address. Um if you plan on getting cute passport photos taken here and want to feel like a burden, then come to this location. I came in needing photos and the male who helped me seemed to be in a bad mood. I was ready for my photo and he told me to put my hair behind my ears and I asked if this was a new requirement and he said it's always been like this, even though I just got a new passport the other year and this wasn't a requirement. I fixed my hair which took like two seconds and I feel like he was already annoyed and sighing then he took my picture and told me to wait 5 minutes. I asked if I could see it and he sighed again and said something under his breath or something I couldn't make out. I told him it looked fine even though I feel like it could've been a better picture and proceeded to waiting. I decided to google photo requirements and nowhere does it mention the hair requirement so I told him I'd like another photo taken and that I would pay for that too. He gave me another sigh. My hair was in the front when he was taking my photo and we just stared at each other blankly and he said something about my hair and I told its not a requirement I just googled it and he sighed rolled his eyes and told me "it's my money not his, they don't offer refunds and he only does this all the time." **COVID-19 Update** Wow Staples! You are so polished it is almost like you were prepared for a pandemic! Or at least showing off your impressive sign making abilities with quick turnarounds. Seriously. While every other business had some standard printed sign seeming made in Microsoft Word, Staples had professional, large print signs in front of their store explaining business operations during the pandemic. Only 25 customers were permitted in at a time. Upon entering the breezeway a gloved employee handed a newly sanitized placard with a number on it to ensure that only 25 people were there at a time. It virtually ensured that everyone had plenty of space. At the checkout blue lines were marked on the floor with a professional sign set up at the queue start explaining one person stands on a line at a time to comply with social distance. They had reasonable pricing compared to Fedex and Kinkos. They emailed me when the order was ready for pickup and was pretty timely when I called to confirm. Had to come in during the quarantine days this month to get a USB. Was greeted the second I walked in the door. Asked where these were at and given great instructions. Found what I wanted, paid and left quickly. Yes, it's dead out there so no other customer was in sight, but the clerk that helped me was still great and their store was spotless. He was also wiping down counters before helping me. He also did his sales pitch on signing up for their emails. I don't come here so not something I need, but the guy was doing what his manager wanted him to do. I had to buy this thing that day and due to Amazon Prime taking weeks to get anything delivered now (understandably), it was nice to have them open and find this so fast and with great service. read more

The print department refused to print something I purchased on Etsy because it had a copyright on it and required a personal note from the seller. The Etsy receipt and general print release was not sufficient. There were no copyrighted characters, nothing, it was just the seller's personal art (which, again, she sold for the express purpose of letting people print, and had a print release that said so). Went to office depot instead with a general print release and they were happy to print it (bonus - way cheaper than Staples). I won't be using their print services again. read more

If you need supplies, you should be fine. If you need printing services of any kind, go elsewhere. My business relies on reliable same day printing. Though widely advertised as such, this is not the store to rely on for said service. I understand errors sometime happen, we give grace and move on, but repeated errors include an incomplete order, an unusable poor quality order, and yesterday a call 4 hours before deadline saying they don't have enough supplies (for 7 boxes of business cards) to complete my order so they'll have to send it out instead, and it'll be ready in 5 days, not 4 hours. Bottom line, this Staples is unreliable. After my complaint yesterday, and several calls later, I was told they will now complete my order sometime today, but I'm not holding my breath - UPDATE - while I was writing this, I just received a call telling me their machinery just broke and they can't complete the order. Bottom line, I need a reliable printing service. Staples in Renton is not that service. I am taking my business elsewhere. read more

A family member passed away and we were preparing for her special day & the employees that worked the printing station went over and beyond to help us with making sure the obituaries were reprinted to reflect the beautiful colors on the design as well as the poster board photo that will be welcoming guests during her funeral. IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL! I am so impressed and so thankful for those that made this possible. Thank you, Kevin! This rating is solely based on their printing services. I love this staples, they always have what I need and they have great customer service. As for printing, I've gone here 3 times and will not return after this last time. The first time I came, my sizing and prints were off and not centered. Since it was only 1/5 copies it wasn't a big deal. The second time I came for wedding invitations and they shorted me 10. I came back for additional copies no problem but the 10 they made were not cut the way I needed so I just ended up trimming them myself. Two days ago I swung by to place an order for 9 prints. I would've done it online but you can't customize sizes? You have to pick what they offer? Well, that's useless unless I missed where I could change this? Anyway, my order was ready the next day. They forgot to print 4 of 9 of my print requests so I had to wait, fine. Went home to frame all my prints and 3/9 were actually cut to size. 1 of 9 was 2 inches off and at this point I'm not even going to bother going back. It is so hard to cut 16x20 prints at home straight! But I had no choice because majority of my orders were not cut accurately to my requested size! I do not recommend printing services here. I really appreciate them staying open with everything that's going on. I stopped by last month, when the shut down first started. I needed a simple print order completed and I was so shocked at how well done and how quickly the floor markings were put in place for social distancing. On a mission for a last minute school project we jetted down to Staples looking for some good poster paper. Walking in we were greeted by not one but two Staples employees that genuinely seemed interested in helping us find what we needed. The store is clean, well organized, and the prices are comparable with their competitors. But what really got my attention was the level of customer service. There was nothing but smiles, intuitive questions about what the requirements were, and a determination to help! Even though their selection of poster paper was not fitting the requirement (either too large or wrong color) the Staples employee insisted on helping. She happened to have a piece behind the counter that they were going to throw away. It was gloss white on one side and matte on the other. A scrap I'm sure but it was the perfect dimension. She let us have it with a smile and well wishes for the project. It's a joy to run into people like this. I'm not moved to make a review of many of my less than exciting consumer habits but this is an exception to that rule. read more

Came looking for a printer. Parking is part of this large shopping area but we found one close enough. Worker at the door said hi. But then it was hard to get help. I asked for help but some other lady spoke to my help before she could get to me. I waited and waited and waited. Then she had to find my printer. They finally got it down but they didn't have the toner in stock. They had a better price on the printer than online. And online the toner was a better deal, so it all worked out. They also had a rebate on the printer...so should get some cash back in a few weeks. Check out gal was friendly and helped me get the teacher card set up. I find myself coming here a lot to get copies made and to get supplies for the office. The guy that is always there in the print center is super nice and helpful. He is a busy guy helping multiple people at once and always does it in a pleasant way and with a smile on his face. I have never had an issue with customer service in the check out lines either. This store is hit or miss. Sometime they have great service, sometime they don't know what they are doing. I tried to have some business cards printed here twice, both times same day orders were delayed because the machine was down. I ordered and paid for them online, and they couldn't even figure out how to give me a credit that they offered due to the delays. Not a huge deal, but the copy center at the Burien staples is leaps and bounds better than the one here in the Landing. Good luck! read more
