Sadly a bad review but not so much for the store. I called asking if they accepted medical, gentleman said yes when would I like to come in. Wonderful I set up the appt for 1:00pm. Went in did wait about 25-30 mins and saw a optometrist by video (kind of odd) never had that before. Now I know I need glasses mine broke so I was looking while I waited. Settled on some but wanted to bring my daughter back for her opinion. Exam was fine. The gentleman helping me was amazing. All done waited another 20-30 mins and a sale woman came and said let's pick the glasses out. I explained about my daughter and she said then I had to pay cash for my exam. I was confused. I said oh well I have my medical card here and she said that it's just a discount program. I said well I wasn't explained any of this on the phone. She said it's a call center so it has nothing to do with them. Well in my eyes that's bad business. So I'm told if you don't buy glasses that day then you pay for your exam and frames. If you buy them then you pay for the glasses and they will discount your exam. ‍ none of this was told until I was done. I asked for her supervisors name she didn't want too. She was a tad snotty but I'm ok with that. I told her there no way I'm giving them cash for an exam that was suppose to be covered. I would have went to a place that took my insurance. So she said well I'm not giving you your prescription until the exam is paid for. I said that's fine. And left. They need to be more clear. There was another lady with her granddaughter in there and they wanted to upsell her to $400 glasses. You could tell they weren't well off and she was raising her. Don't let this chain of eye ware fool you by the size and tv ads! We called ahead of time to make sure this store accepted my vision insurance and the woman I spoke to said no walk-in's allowed.....appointments only! So I thought this would mean we would be served better than first come first serve action. WRONG....way wrong! This place was ridiculous and under staffed. They should be embarrassed to even want to provide any type of service to the general public. Let me tell you why I feel this way.....we arrived 15 minutes early and no one would help us. All us customers were given a little box to pick frames. Even though we had an appointment, no one would help any customers after we had picked our frames and was told to sit at desk and someone would help us! We waited at the desk over an hour and when I finally got tired of waiting and asked for some help....they told me that there was other people ahead of me. I was like WT... they were referring to people that had arrived way after we did but had refused to wait at desk and demanded to be seen because they had an appointment just like us. I have been wearing glasses for about 40 years I have never had so many problems getting my glasses and the quality is a joke. The eye exam was done by teleconference and was not free. It took more than four months to get one pair of glasses that were proper and during that waiting time the pair that I had just fell apart. Also they tried saying that I had already got them which I hadn't and only ended up getting them after I threatened to call the Better Business Buerau and call Curtis from the news. Unfortunately there is no rating below 0 stars because that's where I would rate them. I have had my glasses 6 months now and they are still falling apart to the point that I have to go get some new ones but they sure will not be from Stanton optical. I see my older 1-star posting was deleted. Never enter this store. You will be ripped off, lied to, buffaloed, and coerced into getting nothing for a lot. Well, there has been an epilogue, so I get to tell the gruesome story again. They failed. Totally failed. They did not have my glasses in time for my vacation as promised. They screwed up the address. They had every excuse in the book. I challenged my Mastercard charge for their lack of service and non-delivery of the glasses. They contested it and LIED. They said I signed for the glasses. I challenged them to produce my signature for the glasses and delivery confirmation with the carrier. They could not produce that because they delivered nothing. My account has finally been credited in May. I walked into their dungeon in November. So I got to challenge these idiots for months. Is this the experience you want? Finally a young man came up and said thoes are women's glasses over there and men's there. I'll be right with you. I looked, liked what I saw, sat down at a counter, listened to the young lady on the phone who I think was supposed to be working there, argue with someone. She said, you said. Uck! Best Experience EVER!! So my glasses snapped in half the other day, forcing me to wear a pair so outdated it wasnt even funny. I dont have insurance and needed to get a great deal...well I got a lot more than that. I had tons of selection to choose from and found two great pairs of glasses that I just loved. Stacey was the amazing woman who helped me. When i told her the pair was currently wearing were giving me migraines she rushed my glasses through and I was able to leave with them that day!!! This place really sucks!! My wife and I went there on 02/03/2015 and had an appointment at 6. We arrive at around 530 to early check in so everything is done so when it's time we just go in and see the "doctor". He wanted to go home and went out the back door and had someone tell us that we could not be seen that we needed to make another appointment. We did and went back the next day. Keep in mind because we had to come back we had to lose a day's pay at work. The staff that was there when we went back was better then the prior day staff and they made made things right with us for the issue that happened the day prior. Made an appointment, no doctor showed up, didn't tell us there was no doctor till we had Been there 2 hours. We had already paid, picked out frames paid for them. Then while we Waited for the doctor we were toast he doctor would not be there for another hour and fourty Five minutes. So we rescheduled for the next day. I will never and I repeat never go back to Stanton Optical, Modesto. First they are not helpful as far as the insurance is concerned. They don't direct bill our insurance, I personally don't think they bill any insurance, it's not convenient for them. Then they tried to tell us our insurance was a third party insurance, when I disagreed with them and told them I had spoken to our insurance and the insurance said Stanton should be doing the billing. Stanton then told they, (Stanton) were out of network, wrong again!!!! I had already discussed this with my insurance also!!!! Ok, so far they were two for two!!! We decided to try them anyway, seemed like a good deal, right? 2 for 1!!! HAHAHA!!! More expensive then my last glasses, I didn't go back to my doctor because he retired. So, I have to make payments on our glasses, because my husband and I both needed glasses. I have two sets one for everyday and a set strictly for the computer. I called to go in and pick up my husbands glasses and one of the payments I made was never applied. According to them to bad, so sad. So I printed everything out on my payment, luckily I kept the notepad I had used when I talked to the little twit who took the payment. Oh, well when I brought all that in it was an entirely different story. The girl who had taken the payment wasn't there and it should be obvious why she was no longer employed. The adjusted the amount due on my husbands glasses and I asked if they were going to take care of the adjustment on mine, they told me it was not a problem it would be taken care of. So, today I go to pick up my glasses!!! Guess what, you got it the adjustment was never made and I had to go through pulling up my statement and proving once again I had actually made they payment!!!! I was given my glasses and asked to wait for the manager, he would be out to straighten this all out. I sat down and waited, and waited, and waited!!! Finally they girl who had originally waited on me said they would make the adjustment and go ahead and credit me the amount of the payment. She would take my payment at the front. We go over to the front desk and she can't figure out how to credit my account. This is when the know it all about my insurance comes up and tells her the amount I should pay which is about $25 more then it should be, so I corrected him, at this point I was livid!!!! After they finally figured out what the final payment should be, however the manager is busy and will have to credit my account later. I said I wanted to talk to the manager, they said I would have to wait because he was with someone else. Fine so again I waited and waited and waited. He finally finished with the person he was with and walk over to two men who had come in after I had paid and asked to talk to him, by that time there was another person waiting to see him and I had to get back to Oakdale for another appointment so I found the girl who had waited on me that I would post here and on their Facebook about what a joke I think they are and would be calling tomorrow to be sure my account was at a zero balance!!!!!!! read more

I told the sales person that I was shopping around for the best deal to suit my needs. I have seen several negative reviews pertaining Stanton Optical, therefore I prayed for Jesus to give me wisdom, favor, boldness, and to help me advocate on my own behalf in this endeavor. God is good all the time because He did just that. I went into Stanton Optical as a walk-in after I called their 877.518.5788 number. I spoke with a woman to confirm that I could still get the two pairs of glasses for $68 dollars deal which was advertised on the Internet. I also told her I had a tri-focal prescription, and I asked three times if that $68 would cover trifocals. She confirmed that it did and that I would be able to get two pairs for $68. She said that deal would apply at the Stockton, CA store, and that I could just walk-in. Well, I found out that the girl who gave me that information pertaining to the $68/2-pairs-of glasses was wrong. Upon entering Stanton Optical, I saw a sign that stated $78/2-pairs-of glasses at the Stockton, CA location. I was sorely disappointed when the intake girl confirmed that this was the price at this location; in my annoyance, I almost walked out at that juncture, however I decided to stay after the she encourage me to take a look at their $78/2-pair frames. Nothing suited me in that section as all those frames were too narrow for my wide-set temple. I found an optical technician who had a similar face shape as mine: round/square face with wide-set temples, and she had a similar coloring: dark hair, dark eyes, and brown complexion. I figured she would be familiar with what frames that would compliment me. She was able to show me frames specifically designed for extra-wide temples, and my coloring. I also informed her that I work with active children, therefore my frames needed to be quite sturdy. At this point I knew it would cost me more than $78/2-pairs since the frames in the $78/2-pair section were flimsy, and too narrow for me. I was disappointed that I was not going to be able to get that uber-low-cost deal, but I also understood that no matter where I shopped for glasses, I would have to get extra-wide frames, and that my prescription would probably cost a little more to fulfill: astigmatism in addition to being trifocal, and needing wider lenses. She showed me a section with more expensive frames that were durable and would suit my wide temple-width. After spending approximately 1.5 hours this sales/optical-technician to determine what add-ons were desired/recommended for my situation, the cost came out to be a whopping $350 for my two pairs of glasses, even so, I felt Jesus peace with me and I simply said, "No, that won't work for me since I am on a strict family-budget." She then offered me other payment options, but I told her that those payments were still to high and that my credit would not work for their in-house-financing option, albeit I did allow her to run my credit to investigate that route in case I was mistaken. The sales-girl went into the office to check my credit and confirmed what I told her: that I did not qualify for their financing. I thanked the sales person for all their time and assistance, and told her I was going to continue my search elsewhere since $350 was the best they could offer for my situation, and I was not expecting to pay more than $68+tax for 2 pair when I walked into Stanton. She said she understood and proceeded to then ask for my patience while she when into the office to check one last option. After about 5 minutes, she emerged with the sales manager next to her. He personally assessed my situation and was able determine that I did not need all my desired additional lens coatings, but he left the recommended coatings on. This reduced the price, then he was able to use his manager codes to give me additional discounts that were not available to me. I felt that he went above and beyond to help me obtain these glasses at an affordable price. My glasses went from costing apprx. $350 to about $178. They allowed me to put down a deposit of $78. and upon paying the balance at a later date, I was able to pick up my glasses. Both pairs of spectacles were ready within 7 days even with all the add-on and special requirements. My cost was now affordable, and I was able to obtain two pairs of stylish glasses. I love both pairs, and I have had no problems with my glasses except I am still getting accustomed to wearing trifocals. Overall, I had a good experience with Stanton Optical. I am grateful that I prayed for Jesus to advocate for me throughout this process. I know that He made this a good experience as He helped me to clearly express what I expected and needed, and He gave me favor with the Sales/optical-tech and with the manager. Also, I was able to convey my good experience with the owners who were present in the office. They were approachable, friendly, and attentive which also added to my good impression of this establishment. :) :) read more

I ordered glasses here a year ago and to be honest it was a very bad experience. Took two weeks to schedule an eye appointment and had to wait 45 minutes on top of that....Oh and my glasses were a week late. Anyways I decided to give them one more chance and was VERY happy to see that some changes were made. New staff that was very welcoming and straightforward. No gimmicks just good service. I told them my budget and they worked around it. The staff that helped me out was named George and gave me a great deal on the glasses I wanted; even guaranteed it personally that I would receive my glasses ON time unlike I had in the past. I have a cracked lens on my glasses that I purchased at the store on Sisk here in Modesto. I stopped in, talked to Brian, he ordered a new lens for me. Very upset after returning for warranty work they wanted to charge me $85 for a new set of glasses that could be fixed! We have only had the glasses for 5 months and the arm just fell off while cleaning them! I paid well over $100 for the frames so why they fell apart so soon is bull**** and then them wanting to charge me for something that is under WARRANTY has my head turning! These guys are worst than used car sales men! So I took my daughter to get an eye exam and a pair of lenses, simple right? Wrong.. I paid for the exam up front (40buck) ok not bad since they would refund when frames are purchased, wrong! So they tell me the frames were bogo! Sweet! WRONG! By the times you purchase the lenses and frames and upgrades your in for 400 buckaroos! So I told him I would prefer if they could give me the prescription so I could take my business somewhere else, his attitude totally changed. He then tells me he's not going to charge me anymore but he would give me the prescription.. he proceeds to get the prescription and says if I would reconsider he would sell me a single pair with lenses and uv protection for a 100 bucks.. Came In today with my 3 year old. I did make an appointment for the eye exam and didn't have any wait when I came at my appointment time. The eye exam was in a room and my doctor was on a web cam basically. But it was awesome and not as weird as I expected. I then was paired up with Guadalupe who was awesome! She walked with me and my daughter around the store picking and choosing between about 10 pairs of glasses. She was very polite and gave honest opinions on how they looked as well. When it was time to be rang up she went over all of the different options for my lenses to best suit what I was looking for. It was a great experience and easy in and out. My glasses were ready same day and my sunglasses will be ready in 3. I did the buy one get on free promotion they had. I would recommend this place. Stanton Optical If I can give this place ZERO STARS I would. I DO NOT RECOMMEND This place to anyone! WORST SERVICE EVER. I got charged $39 TWICE for my "FREE EYE EXAM" the first time I didn't get a receipt (I guess that's my fault for trusting LAUREN the one who took my payment both times. I handed her a $100 bill and she handed me back 60 something back I sat down waiting to be called and put my money back in my wallet, she stated that would go towards my glasses I said "ok". Second time she called me to pay the $39 again she said that was goin towards my pre test. I said "ok" again and handed her $40 and she gave me a dollar back. Mind you before I came to my appointment I called 3 times to MAKE SURE the most I'd be paying was $70-$80 (they said YES ALL TIMES. For "FREE EYE exam and 2 pairs of glasses for $59.99). I got my eye exam and the lady that did it was wonderful very very nice. I went out and chose my glasses. When I was finished I waited at the desk for awhile till someone in a white coat came to help me. She helped me choose a second pair and when we sat down I asked if I paid for my glasses since I just paid the $39 both times which came out to $78 she said no she only has a record of me paying once which was a lie. That means Lauren pocketed my money the first time or did something with it. My glasses came out to $400!!! I am a mother of one, expecting another in November and cannot afford $400 for glasses with rent and bills AND A BABY COMING! I spoke to the manager and he said I'd have to wait 20 minutes for Lauren to get back from her lunch so I did, I was getting irritated, I was hungry, and started crying as I sat there because I am broke as it is, and don't mind paying the $78 for my glasses with my FREE eye exam that's why I went in the first place. After that 20 minutes was up I went to the desk asked to speak to him again I was gonna let them know I couldn't wait, well some other guy who said he was "higher then all of them" came out looked in the computer opened the register and pulled out a stack of ONES barely counted it and said "everything is all there, payments match what's in the system". That pissed me off I had tears in my eyes so basically he's calling me a liar and when I asked to speak to Lauren he wouldn't let me because he was "higher than her" and it "wouldn't solve anything". All I wanted was my $39 back!! I asked if he could look in the cameras and he said they didn't have any where the register was, only in the lobby. So I asked if he could look in the lobby where I was sitting because I walked out with my change and put it back In my wallet when I sat down and he said there was none pointed to where I was sitting. SMFH. At this point I'm furious literally SHAKING. He sat there with a smirk on his face saying "I don't know what you did with the money you don't have" I'm so upset I just lost out on $39!!!! Great selection of glasses and super fast service. The optometrist does their lens fitting via wed cam which at first was a little weird but I actually really liked it. The optometrist Can heat you perfectly fine and goes a great job at finding the right lens prescription. Mohammad, the technician in the white coat is super helpful and explains everything. My first pair was done super quick still waiting on my second pair that was supposed to be ready last week but I've waited up to a month before to get glasses so that's not a total deal breaker. They did get my number phone and so when I was checking on the status of an order it took 30mins to get an answer from the automated system. They are open every day of the week and until 7pm Monday thru Friday which helps since I work 8am to 5pm and they have online appointment scheduling. read more

I came in here today to compare prices because of their quote specials they have. It should not be like buying a car . the price should be the price. There should be no haggling working with you as they said. Very shady when you bring the manager to negotiate prices with you. We walked out . I was very annoyed. The lady at Costco was able to tell me how much the glasses would be completely with taxes and everything off the top of her head , but these people are circling things on some laminated package page. WTF? And the girl didn't even know what low vision meant. Clearly missed that day at optician School. My wife and I got eye exams and purchased two pair of glasses each. I received a call that two pair were ready and picked them up that night. My wife called the next business day to find out when her second pair would be in and was told I had already picked them up. I called the store to straighten the matter out and hung up after waiting on hold for 15 minutes. I called back and the same thing happened. So I called their call center and was transferred to customer service. After explaining the situation to customer service 3 times they still did not get it. They kept putting me on hold and relaying information to and from the Modesto location. I asked why I couldn't talk directly with them. They put me thru to the Modesto location and the guy who picked up just started talking over me from the start. He told me that my wife never got an eye exam and that all four glasses were for my prescription. Moreover he insisted that I already picked up three pair and they only owed my one. I tried to explain the situation be he would not let me say more than a word before he would talk all over me again. When I asked if he could please be quite long enough for me to reply to him he hung up on me. So I called the corporate number. Ive never been there before so i assumed I waited & maybe one of the workers will greet us 5 mins later & nothing obviously they see people standing but didn't even bother to walk over until my husband asked were we check in & they walk us to the back. So once i got my eye exam i was honestly taken away of how short it took to get checked, usually at other offices the doctor turns of the light & takes about 10-15 mins checkin your eyes. I saw the commercial, thought I'd give it a shot. The eye doctor was super nice. The glasses I picked were not cheap, but I still felt it was a good deal. My only problem is that I've been waiting 19 days for my glasses. Driving is apart of my business, and often I'm still out at night. I truly need my glasses. First I was told it would take 10 days, then 15 days, and then 7-14 days. These are the statements that were told to me every time I called. After 19 days I'm being told they are putting a rush on them. REALLY!!! after almost 20 days now you want to rush them. I'm calling them back to find out how I can get my 268$ back, and go to the 1 hour people next door. Trying to be patient, but it's running thin. Thanks for nothing.... read more

You only get 1 star because of Desiree. My glasses broke so I went to Stanton. Worst mistake of my life. Charged $900.00 for glasses. 1-month later glasses not in. What was worse is that I drove 1hr 45-mins to pick up my glasses and they were not ready. I was told time after time that one pair of glasses was in but not the other. It has now been 56-days and I do not have glasses. They hang up on you when you call, they lie about pricing and delivery date. The selection of glassews they have is minimum. I would not recommend Stanton Optical Modesto to anyone not even an enemy. TERRIBLE, UNPROFESSIONAL, NOT RELIABLE, SLOW, AND THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE UNITED STATES. read more

Ok guys- I was so scared to come here because of these awful reviews but being a single mom I don't have the choice when the deal is just so good. I wasn't only glad to go against the grain- but I got amazing customer service and my glasses the same day!!! They have such a great selection and I felt like a person and not just another customer. My favorite was Veronica- one of the girls on the floor, she helped me so much find the right fit for my face that I honestly never would have thought of picking. DO NOT trust these reviews because they are old and outdated while the staff is utterly hip and new. read more
