I came in to pick up my new frames a couple weeks back and as he was getting ready to send me off with them, he informed me that he would be ordering me a new pair because the current frames were very faintly flawed from the manufacturer. He had me and my sister look at the defected area under certain light angles and it was so tiny and unnoticeable that he could have easily just let me go with them, but he didn't. What a guy! Came back after my replacement pair arrived and was excited to work with him again on getting the frames adjusted to my face/head just right. It is difficult to choose one that has openings in their schedule, takes my insurance, is conveniently located, and that I would trust my eyes to. Jelen Optometry is all that to me. And more. At Jelen Optometry, I have always been treated as an individual. There is more to this than trust and comfort: there is logic, as follows. Jelen Optometry has twice the square footage of your average solo optometrist. This allows the equipment needed for each step of the eye exam to be in an efficient sequence, and separate from the next step. The equipment itself is state-of-the-art; perfectly maintained and clean. You would be happy if other aspects of your life ran on their schedule. Firstly, Jelen Optometry doesn't double-book appointments. To me, the patient, this means if I arrive at two-twenty for a two-twenty appointment, I will be seen at two-twenty. Secondly, this efficiency is not achieved by sacrificing an unrushed, thorough examination. On the contrary, the time saved through proper management is passed on as a dividend to the patient, who receives personal, professional care in whatever time the doctor--not the clock--deems necessary. A word about the doctor, Dr. Jelen: There is an extra measure of care and precision in his thoroughness. Even the better optometrists have had me return to remake imprecise corrective lenses, or their prescription. Dr. Jelen spends more time getting the details right so that our time isn't wasted later. After being treated so rudely by the office, I decide I would look elsewhere to order my glasses. Today, I learned that Dr Jelen's office staff had put an exclusive "hold" on my account stating I could only receive services at his office. The Clinician had to call VSP and verify my identity and remove the "hold" on my account! This is retaliation for asking for clarification and is unacceptable. I will find a new Optometrist.

Everyone in my family needs/wears glasses and contacts, and I've now gone through each family member's visits for the year so I feel ok to leave a review now haha Before I get into it, I want to mention that prices for services and glasses at this office are fantastic. They offer custom made frames - for a lot more but if you struggle being satisfied with the look of your glasses, this is a wonderful option. First, this office is in one of those small professional office complexes on Palm across the street from Bullard High School (consider the horrible traffic in and near the school in the early morning and 3:00ish when making appointments). Not an old building but not one of the new modern complexes that all the medical offices are flocking too (which in my mind, has to translate to higher service fees). What matters to me is the equipment and expertise of the practice. Dr. Fisher hits both of these, and records are in the computer not paper files like Dr. Smith, bless his heart. It reminded me more of a Kaiser visit, which is a positive for me. I liked his explanation of astigmatism to my youngest girl (we all have it, hers is the worst). I can't help but compare this practice to our old doctor, sorry. When you first come to this office, they ask for your medical information, a copy of your I.d. and they take your blood pressure. These annoyed me and feel overly cautious, but I understood their reasoning and they aren't militant about it. I also don't care for the dr aide doing the first part of the exam. I've worn glasses for over 40 years and am used to the optometrist doing the entire exam. But that didn't end up being too big a deal either because she did the minor stuff. (I noticed there was a different tech after our first or second visit; hope that isn't an indication of high staff turnover.) Each of us has been happy with our new glasses and contacts. It's taking some getting used to new personalities and differences in care at this office, but with each visit, the staff has been great. Though I really miss Kamren and his care, the tech at this office that helps with frame fittings is also really great. I'm so bad with names but the other gentleman that assists with processing sales/orders is also really great. I think there are two women who handle appointments and that is taking some getting used to but they are nice and try to be helpful. I'm confident we are going to have fine care here - super hope so because I hate finding a good optometrist for my favorite purchase of the year haha

I brought my daughter in for an eye exam for the first time ever. The waiting room was a bit small…read morebut it fits about 15-20 people. The ladies in the front were prompt and friendly. While we were waiting, we were allowed to look at glasses in advance incase the Dr would recommend glasses. The lady who helped me was so sweet and patient. My daughter had to decide on 1 from the 15 that was offered. We didn't feel rushed and felt she was doing her best to make sure the glasses fit my daughter nicely. After choosing one, we waited for about 8-10 mins before seeing the optometrist's assistant. She was swift and polite. We were then sat in a room where we would wait for Dr Pazirandeh. Her pediatrician said there's not a lot of pediatric ophthalmologist so it might take a while for someone to call me to set an appointment. Surprisingly only waited 4 days and I received a call from scheduling. The lady who helped me was kind initially she said the earliest appointment was alittle over a month but thankfully she found us an earlier date. I received text and email reminders a few days closer to her appointment. The day of her appt we arrived 15 mins early. The lady at the front desk was nice and welcoming. Filled up a new pt worksheet. Then we were shortly called to the back. My daughter ran to the examination chair and independently sat herself waiting patiently. Dr. Salahuddin came in with a mask but his eyes smiled which was quite infectious. He was very welcoming and gave her a high-five. My daughter enjoys going to doctors appointments and gets very excited and compliant but she's not comfortable with any male clinicians. She gets this worried look in her face and becomes the total opposite of how she would normally act around female counterpart. So I was glad he was trying to make her feel comfortable. She allowed him to examine her eyes. He was professional, knowledgeable and he took his time explaining the condition we were referred by in layman's term. It was a quick in and out appointment.
