From the time I walked in I was greeted kindly, they left me to look for glasses and if I had any questions they'd help out. I had picked out some frames didn't know they were $79. But they told me I would have to pay $135 for those frames because I wanted progressive lenses, well ok, thanks for the info.. no problem and depending on your prescription and what you might like extra it got pricey but you have to stop and think you're getting two pairs for that price.. I've always had a good experience with Stanton, from customer service to completing my order. I just have to give a shout out to JOAN for his help and getting me set up right with what I picked for frames and the type of lenses I needed.... Great guy! Great personality.. read more

I hadn't had an eye exam in about two years, I needed new glasses and a new prescription as mine was outdated, so I decided to make an appointment at Stanton Optical. I normally go to America's Best or order my glasses online, but I came across Stanton and thought their deals seemed reasonable, so I figured I'd give them a try. My first impression wasn't great. When I pulled up, the building looked pretty run down, and there was graffiti on the outside walls. I tried not to judge based on appearance and went inside for my appointment. At the front desk, I was told that the eye exam was FREE with the purchase of two pairs of glasses, which sounded great. Then I was asked if I wanted to see the doctor physically in person or have the exam done with a doctor online. I honestly thought I misunderstood him at first. An eye exam with the doctor ONLINE? I find that crazy, and it genuinely doesn't make sense to me how a proper eye exam can be done with the actual doctor through a screen. If I'm getting my vision checked and potentially getting a new prescription, I personally want to be examined by a doctor who is physically there. I told him I wanted to see the doctor in person, like I normally would for an eye exam. That's when I was told it would cost an additional $59, even if I purchased the two pairs of glasses. So the "free eye exam" that brought me in was only free if I was okay with seeing the doctor remotely. That was incredibly frustrating and felt very misleading. I did not see anything clearly stating when I booked the appointment that the advertised free exam was for the remote option and that seeing a doctor physically in person would cost an additional $59. That is something I absolutely would have wanted to know before making the appointment. What concerned me even more was the lack of privacy. While I was completing paperwork on an iPad nearby, the employee began helping another customer and openly discussed that customer's eye issues and how they could potentially affect his health. I was standing close enough to hear the entire conversation. Personal health information should not be discussed where other customers can easily hear it. When I looked toward the waiting area, I also noticed that some of the exam equipment was out in the open right next to where other customers were sitting. There seemed to be very little privacy, which made the entire experience feel even more uncomfortable. At that point, I decided to at least look through the glasses before making my final decision. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any frames that I liked or that were really my style. On top of that, many of the display glasses were noticeably dirty, which didn't help my impression of the location. In the end, I went back to the front desk and politely told the employee that I wanted to cancel my appointment because I didn't feel like Stanton was a good fit for me. I was honestly a little surprised by the response. Instead of asking if there was a reason I wanted to cancel, asking if there was anything they could help with, or even saying they were sorry to hear that, he simply responded, "Okay, no worries." Overall, the location felt poorly maintained and temporary, almost like a Spirit Halloween setup rather than a professional eye care office. Between the condition of the building, the dirty glasses, the confusing "free" eye exam advertisement, the additional $59 to physically see a doctor, the idea of having an eye doctor examine me remotely, the lack of privacy, and the complete lack of concern when I decided to leave, I was extremely disappointed. I went in genuinely excited to try somewhere new, but unfortunately, I left without even completing the appointment. read more

I wasn't sure how this was going to go based on seeing two star reviews, but I needed glasses and was in a pinch. It ended up being a great experience and I was able to get my glasses the same day. Valerie was the associate who helped me out, and she did a wonderful job! She thoroughly explained everything made sure that I was taken care of. While I was shopping, the manager also made sure to ask if I need anything and answer any questions I had while I was selecting frames. I am very grateful for all the help that the staff gave me and the price was excellent, even without having vision insurance. read more

Stanton Optical - New glasses ready the same day in about an hour! - Optometrists Near Me - Fresno, California

Absolutely terrible customer service, run by young adults who lack professionalism, work ethic, and basic customer service skills. The actual eye doctor was good, and the exam for my 6-year-old son went well. We were told his eyes were healthy and that he did not need glasses. However, immediately afterward, the manager contradicted this by saying my son would need glasses for an astigmatism--something the doctor never mentioned. When I asked for clarification, the manager said he'd be back in a minute, then proceeded to spend over 15 minutes chatting casually with an off-the-clock coworker. While waiting, I picked up a retail pair of blue-light glasses for my son, clearly marked at $24.99. When I went to pay for the exam and glasses, everything turned into a confusing mess. I never received a clear explanation of why my son supposedly needed glasses. The exam was supposed to be $10 with insurance, but I was then charged an undisclosed $39 retinal scan fee that was never explained or offered as optional before the appointment. To make matters worse, the staff told me that if I didn't use my "full benefits," I would lose them--but no one could explain why or how that worked. Typically, front office staff in a medical setting are knowledgeable about insurance and billing. That was clearly not the case here. The staff and manager seemed uninterested in helping or working with customers. The entire experience felt like a push to upsell unnecessary services and products under the guise of insurance benefits. Overall, this place feels disorganized, misleading, and unprofessional. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

Big sign in front window and internet says free exam and 2 pairs of glasses $79, but they wanted $138 and said that not all stores honor that price and when I pointed out that the window said $79 they said they didn't change it yet. I brought in a pair of broken eyeglasses which I didn't buy there to be fixed with new screw. Ismael took care of them immediately. It turned out the the frame was broken and needed to be replaced. He showed me the difference and it made sense. He had a similar frame which was on discount. The glasses had to be grounded out which I wasn't charged for. My new eyeglasses came out perfect in 10 minutes. I am so happy with the services, especially with Ismael!!! He said he loved his job and loved helping people! It was clearly reflected in the quality and care of his work. Thanks so much Ismael. Stanton Optical won a new customer today! read more

Sent me to your customer service. Garbage! Your 2 glasses with eye exam for $79 is a fraud. Took advantage of my elderly dad.

I was sent a text and email to pick up said order to be told when i got there, it wasnt ready and i mustve read it wrong as they were waiting for a lens. read more

The first issue is that when you book an appointment online, there is absolutely nothing that indicates that you will NOT be seen by an actual doctor during your exam. When you arrive, they don't tell you that you won't be seen by a doctor for your exam, nor at any time during the entire time you are there. They work on commission, so ignore what you tell them you want, do not disclose all offers for discounts or specials they are running, or offer the lowest end products even when asked. They charge about $40 more than any other place online for contact lenses. They did not check my prescription glasses when I picked them up and it turns out the prescription I was given was completely wrong. This place was bad from the beginning and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone at all. read more

I originally went to the Clovis location and they only have a virtual optometrist, but still did the appt back in August. When my contacts came back they didn't fit my eyes correctly, but I didn't try them immediately as I wear glasses 95% of the time. By the time I returned to the Clovis store to report the problem, they said that I'd need my eyes rechecked by an actual Dr, which they don't have. They told me I'd have to make an appt at the Blackstone location. They let me know since it's been over 30 days I would have to pay a re-check fee of $29.99. Not happy but okay, my fault for taking too long I guess. A week or so later is when I had my appt here at Blackstone and Herndon. Place is dirty and smells. Many of the frames on display are dusty or have greasy fingerprints. The layout is unclear as to which station is what, and there is not a good flow. I was unsure of where to go when 1st walking in, and noticed several others doing the same after me. They reviewed my chart then told me now it's been over 60 days so I have to start from scratch and do an entire new patient exam for the original cost. Don't remember the exact dollar amount, but something to the effect of $160. Now I'm pissed and I walked out. I will never return to any Stanton location for future services. 0 stars. read more

Made an appointment for 4:30. At 5 I go ask them about it, and THEN they tell me they double booked for the day. They didn't think they should call people and tell them that, or tell us as we walk in that we will be waiting forever now because of this. They also lied about taking Medical, which a guy on the phone told me that they did. THEN on their tablet is says $69 for an eye exam. When I talk to someone there, it magically goes up to $98. For people who are supposed to be dealing with people's health and eye care, this business is so unprofessional. Runs the equivalent of going to eat at a Denny's. Will never go back read more

The absolute WORST service. They have every excuse in the world for their inability to give even decent customer service. The 2 for 1 is a total rip-off. Called to make appointment and they were unable to tell me if my visit would be covered by my insurance. First red flag. After waiting for 45 minutes on my appointment day I was told there would be a $40 surcharge in addition to my copay for my eye exam. Such a wonderful experience right as I walked through the door! I was greeted and directed to the necessary area by Ismael. The process is not consumer friendly. They provide you a tablet and have you sign digital forms and DO NOT GIVE YOU A COPY! They automatically check record your conversation and video you so they can say, not justify, that they told you something. I asked for copies of the documents as they charged me for a service I did not request. They said I did and clerk kept being abrupt that they did. She brought a manager and the manager printed out the forms I signed and as I kept focusing on, they didn't inform me of a service they provided, but charged me for it. Use a credit card so you can dispute any charges that you were not informed of. Shelves were very dirty and dusty and many frames were made of cheap plastic and would easily break. Saw a few customers who were there for that reason. They were attempting to charge me more, for putting new lenses in my old glasses, than I paid at Costco for new lenses to be placed in my old glasses and for a new pair of sunglasses! While Costco doesnt have same day, they have savings and quality. read more

Had to go back again because I needed to get seeing glasses for my mother. They took her in the same day and she was instantly helped since they already had her prescription. I have read quite a few recent reviews and I cannot disagree with most of what was said. I will add that the condition of both the grounds, the building and the inside of the building were in a state of obvious disrepair. There was trash in the parking lot, graffiti on the building, the carpet was filthy and just a general run down look to the walls and display cases. Customer service is painful - I made an appointment this past Sunday and there were only 2 sales reps working and approximately 30 people needing assistance. I spent three hours there, between the check in, the exam and ordering my glasses. On a positive note, I was able to get 2 pairs the next day, which was very helpful, and the two reps were working very hard and doing their best to accommodate the workload. In regard to the exam, it was a bit disconcerting to have a remote Dr. doing the exam, and there was no feedback as to whether there were any issues with my eyes. Overall, not a great experience and I will not be coming back for any future eyeglass / exam needs. Follow up to business owner response: I think I was pretty clear what some of the issues were during my visit...your response to all of us who give less than positive reviews is pretty disingenuous. recommendations would be: clean your grounds, wash your windows, take care of the graffiti in a timely manner, brush the cobwebs off the building and glass, vacuum and have carpets professionally cleaned, wash the walls or repaint, be clear about the telecommuting Dr, let customers know what was or wasn't discovered in the "exam", hire more staff, if understaffing will be the norm-limit the number of appointments and advise customers how long the wait will be, provide better signage do customers know where to go for exam vs pickup...that should get you guys started. read more

Worst eye exam ever. Homeless people, camping, and sleeping outside of Fresno Blackstone . Ants all over the counters no soap in the room to take out contacts and technicians were watching TV in there and had to be asked to leave the room so I could change my contacts.
