This would have been my FOURTH visit to fix nose pads that kept popping out for eyewear received March 2015. While waiting to speak to the store manager Dan, I approached Natalie who had helped me three other times. She gave me extra round nose pads (again), which were not for my glasses but would "do" (again) until the order for the correct nose pads came in, as she had been told the nose pads for my glasses had not been received yet (hello, almost 3 weeks???). Natalie has always been friendly, helpful and tried her best to help my situation. While still waiting for Dan, Jerrell Austin saw me and tried to help my concerns. He provided me with the paperwork which I had never received upon receipt of my glasses in March, and explained the frame and lens warranty. He was puzzled why I needed to wait for nose pads and researched the possibility and availability of the same frames at the nearby stores; there were non available. Mark Holcomb, the lab manager for the past 5 years, passed and asked my concern. Within less than 15 minutes, he checked stock on the floor for possible nose pads from glasses that were displayed, went to the lab and brought out 2 different nose pads that he felt would work, then presented me with my glasses WITH nose pads (that worked!) AND my glasses fit even better now than when I first got them-he didn't even try them on my face, they just fit perfectly! Mark is the "miracle worker" and indeed, provided professional, top rate customer service which is why this had been my second purchase for glasses. The reason I didn't give Stanton 5 stars is due to the fact that 1) It took 4 visits to fix this problem, 2) I was not provided warranty info at the time of my product pickup, 3) the store manager Dan seemed "to duck" me, give no greeting/welcome when I made eye contact with him and 4) there needs to be a seamless communication higher up when a concern cannot be handled. After two times, Natalie should have referred me to Mark. Kudos for Natalie, Jerrell and especially Mark! read more

Six weeks since my original order.....Constant mistakes, wrong prescription, had to correct it myself with UCD, picked very dark sunglasses it came in pale grey, ordered again another pale grey, said they would darken then in an hour, said they could be darkened on site. Employee did not know that could not be done on site. Another two weeks and manager could not expedite. Very poorly trained employees and manager who is incapable of providing customer service. Do not use this optical service. The come on is two for one - it will seldom happen. You pay upfront and then wait a very long time. They have no way to expedite your order. read more

I've been coming here for years and every time I enter the store something goes wrong. Once they had me wait two weeks to receive my contacts lenses that I ordered just for the lenses to not have any prescription at all!!! They apologized and ordered me the correct lenses which took another week. Next they had me pay for an eye exam just for them to use the SAME EXACT prescription I had the year before. Mind you I have very special eyes and I paid $70 just for them to tell me nothing has changed. Finally I went there for ANOTHER eye exam for contacts because I'm on my last pair and the lady told me that my prescription is all of a sudden too high and she told me I need to go to an optometrist to get the exam done. WHAT!? I've been getting eye exams here for years for my contacts!!! I'm so done with this place. They lost a client. read more

The service is not bad, very friendly. I think the problem is they set the wrong expectations. They say your glasses will be done by a certain time and then no call by that time. Then they say come back and you go back and still not done. I have no problem waiting for a reasonable amount of time but for $420 please just be straight up about when to pick up. read more

I have been a customer for over three years, the staff at the Madison location is always friendly and helpful. By calling to make an appointment, it's always easy. When I arrive at my appointment, waking thru the door there is always someone to say hello to me. Which is nice since they are always busy but they still take the time to do it. Came in to the store on a Monday morning and was greeted promptly. I was informed the person to help me would be with me in just a moment. 2 minutes later I had the pleasure of a very nice young lady named Kristine help me. I needed new frames for my glasses, Kristine explained the process to help me with my needs and concerns. I picked out the frames I liked and Kristine processed my order. My experience I had with Kristine was very friendly and professional expedient service, I was in and out within a 15 minute process. I would recommend to business with this store. read more

I was totally turned OFF Stanton Optical, but thanks to Martha at the Madison & San Juan location I am now just turned off the Howe 'bout Arden location. This was my first time going to Stanton Optical. I went in and waited about 20 minutes for an eye exam. The doctor was nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. I got my prescription and decided to come back another day to pick my frames out. Everything went well. :) I came back to pick my frames out. Unfortunately, it was pretty busy since I waited until December to use my insurance as did many others there. After choosing the frame I wanted and letting one of the employees know that I was ready, I waited over an hour before someone was available to help me. Once that happened, things went rather quickly and I was told to come back in a few days and the glasses would be ready. I was pretty impressed with how fast I would get my glasses, but not impressed by the wait. :| So I came back to pick my glasses up, signed in and waited my turn.... over 30 minutes just to pick up my glasses and I had to ask them to adjust the frames so they wouldn't slip down, even then they guy took them to the back room and had someone bend the arms and came back out with them. Not the normal fitting I am used to. Hmmmm long wait times and they don't even adjust the frames to fit correctly. ;| I returned about a 1 1/2 week later because the left arm on my frames progressively got looser, just did not seem right. I had been totally careful with them, hardly even used them since I'm adjusting to wearing glasses. So I went back, it was busy, waited over 30 minutes. When I showed the employee my glasses I was told her supervisor could fix them but I had to wait for her to finish up with the customer she was currently helping (understandable but left waiting again....). So the supervisor took my glasses to the back room, then came back and told me and the original employee that helped me that the frames are not fixable. I asked the original employee that helped me if she could just order the frames and was told no, the frames on the walls are the frames available. I looked around to see if the same frames were available, nope. I finally found another frame that was doable. I flagged the employee down again to let her know I was ready, and was told I was 3rd in line. Great more waiting.... like over 40 minutes.... So now she is ready for me, I told her I wanted the exact same lenses I ordered. She pulled it up in her computer, put my order in and told me when to come back. Visits here are excruciatingly long. :( Went in to pick up my glasses, signed in and waited.... this time over 50 minutes! Then, my name gets called and another customer steps up and told the employee that she was here before me, and points out to the employee that she was on the previous page, so he helped her first (which is expected) but said that I was after her. Well then another employee comes out and calls another name that was not mine, what happened to me being next? The employee then told me "we go in order of the list," like duh! I do not know if the other employee had crossed me off and written my name back on the list, under the person who is NOW the next person or what. It is bad enough having to wait this long just for a pick up, but to also cause confusion on the order of what customer to help next? How hard is it to go down a list? Finally, a few minutes later, another employee became available to get my glasses. I looked at them, making sure the frames were not already broken and left. I could not believe how frustrated I was by then. All I could think was how I was never ever going to deal with STANTON OPTICS again. And I mean ever EVER again! :( ^%$*#@! I put the glasses on and it did not feel the same, since I am not used to wearing glasses I was not sure if what I felt was right or not. I first tried them on at the computer and I could tell that they were the right prescription but something was different. Then, I put them on in the car and again the prescription was right, but it didn't feel like they were progressive, like I had originally ordered. By this time I was so turned off Stanton Optical that I sent my husband back to just get cash back on the difference of progressive vs. flat vision lenses. I did not want to deal with them anymore! My husband decided to go to the Stanton Optical on Madison & San Juan where he was helped by Martha. Martha confirmed that the lenses were not progressive, she even checked her computer to check if she could order the frames, apparently they are on back order. Then she checked the wall and found the same frames and was able to put the lenses from the broken frames into these frames all in the same visit, I had glasses by lunch time! Like everyone else, saw the ad 2 pairs for $59 but already know it's never what it's advertised for! Took my husband there and spent over $400 for 2 pairs got the photomax transits glasses for both pairs( We used to paid over $300 after insurance for one pair with transits at Kaisier a few years ago)! We were excited about it after what the lady who was helping us told us about how it turn dark even in the car and and show us how dark it gets but when we got them we were not happy about it! Was disappointed! Didn't even turn grey in the car and my car's window is not even tinted! Long story short, did a walked in and Sue took care of us! She was super nice and let us exchange for a polarized sunglass! Our experienced with them are great but before that i saw on yield how awful their customer service are and blah blah blah.....glad we give them a chance! Thanks! read more

Called the main number on the add and made an appt. for Tues the 13th at 2pm and I asked for the Madison office. Never got an email reminder so called to verify the time and location he said 2pm at Madison Plaza I said Is that in Sacramento? he said no...so I said well I need my appt for Madison in FO CA. He said oh, well go to that office and I will let them know your coming...I arrived at 2pm and they did not have me on the list and said they take there lunch break at 2pm so I can I wait they said NO "You will have to come back another day" WOW ok. well I drove down the street to Lens Crafters and got right in...So maybe you need to work on your customer service skills and communication skills. We received excellent services from one of their newer associates Issa. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend that you ask for Issa on your next visit. On the flip side I realize how close I came to not having such an enjoyable experience. Poor customer service from the manager, Kristen! She should not be working directly with customers. Both my husband and I bought two pairs of glasses. When we went to pick them up, they were very blurry. I was told that I would need to get used to them. I couldn't even walk around or read with them. How do I get used to that? We were told that we had 30 days to receive a full refund when we purchased them. We were put at ease that there would be no issues at all. When we went back in the manager gave us attitude from the start. "No! That is not how this works. Let me go over your options." She would not listen to our concerns. She just kept talking super fast and rattling off some memorized sales garbage. When we tried to get her to slow down, she gave us more attitude. Then she actually had the nerve to say I was being condescending. Who does that? She kept telling us that we were in the wrong because we brought in our own prescription from our own doctor. When we told her that we were told that was ok, she said, "It is." What? Then why are you holding that against us? Very disappointed with her. She also would not let me purchase one of the frames to take somewhere else. First things first I didn't expect much from this store as I've always gotten glasses from a doctors office. I broke my glasses and needed a new pair ASAP but I know they take time to make so I scheduled my appointment for Wednesday. About an hour before I'm suppose to leave I get a call asking if I could come in the next day b/c their machines were down. No problem stuff happens. I take the opportunity to ask about their promotion and what kind of glasses it includes. She said they only had two options which was disappointing but good to know before coming in. I was greeted right away once there and got my temperature taken. I filled out an intake form on an iPad which could have been old and scratched up but looked a little dirty. They had sanitizer though so I used that after. Then the same girl who greeted me took me back to a room to do the puff test and another test on my eyes. After that I waited maybe 20 minutes and was taken to another room for another test. The doctor was not there in person but via video call from a tv monitor on the wall. I wish I had been told this but during corona times it's to be expected and it's not like I haven't experienced similar things for other services. Anyway I get to the glasses and they have more than two pairs available! They had maybe 20 pairs but nothing suitable for my large lenses so I had to pick a pair outside the promotion. Luckily the lady ringing me up said the pair was only one tier above the promotion price range so she'd just include them anyway! I was super happy about that and told they would get here in about two weeks. My final cost was $59.95 for two pairs of glasses and an eye exam. Overall, I had a pretty pleasant experience and I will definitely come back if I break my glasses again! read more

I would like to give this a minus star. I went there today from Vallejo believing the advertisement 2 pair of glasses $59. First thing happened I had to pay for the exam first in advance, this would be deducted if I bought glasses? I picked out the frames talked to the sells man. I talked about some things I wanted. I started to realize this was not going to be $59. But I thought if it is reasonable? He presented me with a projected bill of $459 dollars. I said wow that is not even close to what I thought? I could get these glasses anywhere for that kind of money. Then he said let me see what I can do? Then he said how does $212 sound ? I thought I am just getting screwed here. I asked just give me a copy of my eye exam that I paid for I am leaving. He then left me standing there and went over to two other to starting talking about how to strong arm me into a deal. I waited a couple more minutes and then walked out ,with out even getting my eye exam results. My advise to anyone reading this is if it looks too good to be true ? It probably is . SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. This place is like the commercial , its just a joke. read more

"Eek! Methinks - not" is absolutely right! I don't want to give these guys any stars! I wish I would've checked here first... our first visit to Stanton Optical felt like we were in a "cattle call" for eye glasses- they were so overbooked with appointments it took over two and half hours to finally get out of there. I felt lost when I first walked in there. Then after I figured out which side of the building I was supposed to go, whenever one person was done talking to me I wasn't informed about what was next... so I spent a lot of time just sitting there wondering "what next?"... didn't find out anything until I walked around and asked. Then I saw the eye doctor, he only talked about moving back to the bay area; he wasn't very informative or personable at all. He just went through the steps of the eye exam and handed me off to the waiting area again (and I'm sitting there again, full of questions - what next? and getting tired). They also led me to believe that they were an in-network provider (I called & asked before scheduling the appointment) and it turns out they are not - found this out when it came time to pay! BE SURE TO BE VERY SPECIFIC WITH YOUR QUESTIONS - these folks are very VAGUE... Now we're trying to pick up our glasses; they weren't ready as promised-TWICE needless to say, very disappointed... left there feeling like they are only concerned about "making the SALE" will never, never go back - they're like shady sales people trying to make a quick buck! Absolutely do not go here! My friend and I ended up here because we had a Groupon for glasses. We both had apts. When we got there I told the manager we had appointments, and he told us to wait in this side room. After 30 mins. I finally went up and asked what was taking so long. They then asked if we had signed in (no, because no one told us to). Then they said they were just running "a little" behind because they had a walk in patient (even though 2 people had apt. and were waiting). So finally, after 45 minutes of waiting we were seen. We picked out our glasses, and then were waiting forever to be helped. The manager would come and start to help us then walk away. We were treated as one patient, even though we were both getting glasses. All in all, we were there for over 3 hours! Then when we went to pick up the glasses, they couldn't even find mine because they were filed under the wrong name. I asked for sunglasses, and my one pair was this super light tint, that would not prevent a single ray of sun from getting in my eye. The eye glass maker then says, " I saw that it was marked for the darker tint, but I did it lighter because a lot of times people think it is too dark." So basically he ignored instructions. Then they tell me it will take 30 mins. to darken. After 45 mins. he tells me 5 min more. It was then 15 min after that, and they were finally done (hour total). And they were still not dark enough. I had to leave and have to come back a third time to get them. The manager, Scott, is a joke, the whole store is understaffed, and I would never, ever go there again, and would not recommend anyone to go there. I will never utilize Stanton again! I went in for an eye exam in about September 2014. The optometrist Dr. Nguyen was not able to get me to 20/20 In my left eye after asking me to select the clearer of two letter rows repeatedly. The optometrist then made the inane statement "it's because you're over 50 and everyone over 50 has cataracts. I can see yellowing of your eyes." She did not change my prescription due to this. I just followed up with an ophthalmologist to get a thorough I examination including dilation and photo of my eye and I have absolutely no evidence of any cataract and my eyes are so healthy that they stated I probably never will get cataracts. Stanton charged me $500 for two pairs of glasses I cannot see properly out of. Their staff is incompetent. Do not waste your time and money there. It looks like others are also unhappy based on this site! read more
