I went to the Madison Ave. location First the positive: everyone was friendly and helpful, and the choices were vast. The optometrist was likable and appeared to know what he is doing. Their eye exam is free if you buy glasses; if not, it's only $45. This is the best deal I've found in Sac. However, it took me two hours to get my eye exam and get someone to help me with glasses. (And I had an appointment!) I was told that "corporate" double and triple books the eye exams on a regular basis, and there's only one guy who works there. Secondly, they charge you PER LENS (separate for right and left)! I have never seen that before. For instance, I was told that transitional lenses would be an additional $99. Make that $99 per lens! They also want you to get scratch resistant coating and UV protection which is a minimum of $40 per lens. The "second pair free" is only free if you don't order the coating and UV protection. As long as you are aware of what everything costs and choose a decently made frame, you will make out all right. But I don't like their style of doing business, and they didn't really explain the actual costs. When I got home and looked at the receipt (2 pages long!) I decided that I will buy my glasses online, but may still use them for exams in the future. read more

My wife went in to get an exam and some contacts. At first, Trisha was her name, ran the exam with the wrong insurance and charged full price. After my wife told her, she then just gave my wife and out of network form and had her work with insurance to correct it. I went in a couple weeks later for my own and the same lady checked my insurances 2 times and had the wrong one both times. It was on 1/2/2016 so I assumed my benefits changed and I just wasn't aware. I proceeded to pick up my glasses and the general manager Daniel was friendly and helpful and made a really good deal for me, but without using my insurance. Later that day, I checked my coverage and found that I actually still had the great coverage that I thought and told Trisha from the beginning. I took my info back in to see Daniel and let him know there was a mix up at the counter and wanted to check the deal he gave me against my actual insurance benefits. He refused to acknowledge that I had the information right in front of me and said it would end up being the same. He said he only had the information from Trisha to go off of and when I told him she gave him the wrong information but I have it here directly from my provider he said they just look to see what you have under your SSN and only look at what comes up there. He wasn't even willing to go back to the computer and double check to make sure Trisha didn't miss anything. I've been here several times and have never been this dissatisfied. Even though this place is a quarter mile from my house, I will be driving further to find a place that values your benefits that you pay for. read more

BUYER BEWARE: Stanton Optical's "Come-on" newspaper ads are totally misleading. Once they've got the customer in the store, customers are sold cheapy frames with jacked-up prices for the lens packages. Sales people make no effort to help customers determine their correct size before sending them loose to browse the walls. Nosepad fell off the day after I bought the glasses and then were screwed in so tight on my return visit that the screw hole was completely stripped. Abominable customer service: Manager claimed it was against company policy to issue credit/refunds of any kind. In other words, customers are at the mercy of Stanton Optical from the moment they have to pay up front to order their eyeglasses! ZERO STARS!! read more

I was in Stanton optical today , around noon I am shocked at the rude customer service of one of their employees ty candy. She was extremely rude and argumentative. I was shocked I finally said to her I don't want to deal with you I'm going to talk to someone else. When I walked straight over to talk to somebody else who was very polite very nice and help me very much she put all my glasses away her way of getting back. This place does not care about customers I would never do business with them. The person that I was dealing with helped me select three out of the ones I tried on. While I was trying on another pair she walked behind me and put those away. This girl has a major problem. It was a waste of time to go there and I would never go back in the store again. Had a wonderful experience here. Waiting time was a little long but as soon as it was my turn they were able to adjust and fix my glasses within a few minutes. I explained my dream glasses to the worker Heather, and she literally brought me a pair of glasses I instantly fell in love with! OmyGOD these guys are horrible. Incompetent! I went, got the ' 2 for 1', paid up front. Had to wait 3 weeks. Special order and all. Picked one pair, the other isn't. Fine. Should be here next week. Very bad customer service after sale. Which the "sale" is a joke in itself. Prior to sale, they stand by their product and optometrists; after that, WHEN (not "if") something goes wrong , they have your money and no longer care about satisfaction or customer service or your eyes for that matter. Dan, the general manager of the store is no help whatsoever but luckily, caring enough to give out an 800# for customer service so they can deal with you. My fiancée and I walked into Stanton Optical about 3 1/2 weeks ago. Since then it has been nothing but empty promises and lose excuses as to why our order is not done. We have called 5 times and they have hung up on us to take care of someone else, put us on hold for over 20 minutes, told us things that haven't been true and have promised us phone calls which have never been recieved. Their lack of customer service and consideration is enough to make someone scream. I would not recommend going their unless you really want a massive headache. read more

Stanton Optical hires unlicensed, illegal workers to trim their trees. One of them dropped a branch ON MY VEHICLE as I was turning. I tried to get information from the managers, district managers and corporate office. I got no information about the worker, no apology, no offer of a gift certificate or something to compensate me for the fear and panic caused by them. So upon returning I worked with Martha and she remeasured me and had them remade and it is perfect. Outstanding costumer service, we were helped by Kristine, she was fast and answered all of our questions, she literally ran back and forth from one end of the store to the other trying to be hasty just as a courtesy. We were in and out with two new frames and new lenses in just a few hours, Chris was also a big help when it came time to check out he helped us find a lower price for what we were about to pay almost double for. I can say we will be continuing to come here. I will say this though, they seem to have a large selection of frames but really they don't, there are a lot of the same pair placed in multiple places around the shelving. I don't know if they do this intentionally or not but it seems they could get some other brands in. read more

Be warned don't do business with this company. Read their satisfaction guarantee carefully because it's not a guarantee for the customer. I purchase 2 pairs of glasses and paid $478 . They never got my glasses right so now they are in a drawer. I called the district office , district manager, and asked numerous times for a refund but it's not in the satisfaction guarantee !! In the end the staff was extremely friendly and understanding of my price range and did their very best to work with me to get me the frames I wanted. Stay Away!!! I have never experienced such a lack of customer support. I wanted to get new lenses for my sunglasses - they gladly took them, took my money, never called me and when i showed up to get them, they were broken with missing parts. Although Jerrell did as best as he could, the manager Dan took no accountability and said he didn't break them that I needed to take it up with the corporate office... the last time I checked his paycheck comes from Stanton Optical... So unprofessional!!! So now I am forced to spend time (i don't have) tracking down my missing pieces and trying to get compensation for something they broke..... Don't waste your time or your money on this place OK, I want to make sure I give credit where due... after posting the above message, I received many emails asking me for more details. I then received a call from the West Coast Manager, Brad Rodman... I have to say they immediately took care of my problem, and have shown an incredible support to my situation. Although my initial experience of Stanton Optical wasn't at all positive, based on their follow up, I would definitely recommend and support their corporation.... Let me just put this out there...I haven't been to the eye doctor in 18 years! The 10 year old me, just remembers it being a horrible experience. Right when I walked in I was greeted. The eye doctors assistants we're so nice and caring! The doctor was very patient with me. When it came time to look for frames I started in the value section. Which I quickly realized u get what u pay for. Very flimsy and weak feeing. So I ended up finding a pair of glasses as well as a pair of sunglasses. The GM of the store is awesome!!! I did end up paying a little more then $300, but the customer service all the way to when I picked up my glasses was great! Everyone there was so nice and pleasant to be around and so far the quality of both pairs are above expectation! I didn't even realize how blind I really was. I never take my glasses off now! The coating came off of my lenses 3 different times. Each time they charged me to fix it. The frames are cheap and the nose piece broke off. This place is shady. I gave a five star review after my first visit unfortunately I am now revising that to a one star. The people who answered the phone can not help you, they either can't or don't bother to get in to your chart. I have problems with contacts bothering my eyes. I bought some but I couldn't wear them, so I called to have them order some new ones. The guy who answered wanted to know all the kinds I had already tried, he apparently couldn't find it from my chart. Finally after I had to look all over to find the names for him, he said he would order a new kind and told me I would get a call back when they we in... 2 weeks later I called back they had no record of any order the girl on the phone acted the same as the guy before asking me to find all the information. Long story short same thing eventually I called for a third time. I explained the whole story to the women who answered, she assured me that she would solve my problem, that she personally put the order in and I would be called in 5 days to pick them up. First off I came into the office under the intentions of getting two pairs of glasses for $59 with a free eye exam. My appointment was at 11:30 I got there at 11:30 I wasn't seen till 12 I then had my eye exam done and was told to go ahead and pick out a few pair of glasses so I did walk around look around the store looking at glasses for about 30min, no one came to me to ask if I needed help or anything. I then realized it was 1:00 I went to the front desk and asked if I was going to get any help and the gentleman told me to go ahead and pick out two pairs of glasses and he would go over pricing and insurance with me, he was dealing with other customers that had gotten there after me. I did get a little irritated my children get out of school early as I thought it was thursday, so I told them I had to leave and wasn't able to pick out a pair of glasses at the moment. They then told me that I had to pay a $45 eye exam fee right then and there. Mind you I never once signed any paper or was I told or aware of any of the fees or how things worked before they did the eye exam and had me see the doctor. I was ready to leave and wasn't going to get a pair of glasses at the time because their customer service was taking too long. I was then told that I had to pay $45 for the eye exam and if I have insurance I would only have to pay $25 for the eye exam but the front desk woman didn't even give me a chance to give her my info to run my insurance or collect my insurance information. So in order for me to leave I had to pay the woman $45 because I had no time to run my insurance I had to leave to get my children from school. This place is the biggest scam gimmick to get people into their store and pick out the crappiest $29 glasses that will probably break in a couple months for the $59 promotion. They then want to run your insurance and charge you and say you're getting 60% off. The other gentleman that ended up helping me gave me a bunch of different prices for two pairs of glasses that he never broke down and made any sense to me, first I was getting two pairs for $59 with a free eye exam then I was getting two pairs with one having tint and one pair of regular glasses for $241 plus a $25 eye exam fee which they already charged me $45 on my credit card because I was going to leave but then realized it was not Thursday and my kids didn't get out early. read more

Worst customer service ever! 2 sales people on the floor when I first came in, then no one was around when I wanted help choosing frames. Waited at least 10 min. for someone to appear from the back room. When I returned to the store 3 1/2 weeks later to pick up my new glasses they were merely handed to me. No fitting, NOTHING! The sales person walked away! I asked to have the glasses checked and adjusted and got a look like I was asking for a million dollars. My husband had a similar experience at the Roseville store a year earlier and I thought he was exaggerating. Not so much. Plus, 3 1/2 weeks for my glasses to come in and his took over 4 weeks. I was overdue for an eye exam and my glasses were incredibly worn out. I also am very new to my area and was looking for a way to get an eye exam and new specs for a reasonable price without vision insurance. That's a tall order!
