Wow. Hard to believe this has a four-star overall review. The waitstaff was very friendly, but the coffee and food were bad. Had French toast thoroughly saturated with butter, bacon way overdone/puny and the eggs were some of the worst ever. So greasy!! After a year up of going back and forth up to Ukiah, I can say after having tried out many of the breakfast joints in the city that Stan's is my go-to, hands down in terms of service, food (portion, taste, and price), and the general atmosphere. Great selections to try include the Maple, which is one of the best French Toast combos in the city, although I often also get the State Street Skillet. They have a great sweet potato pancake, as well. Haven't had a bad experience there yet. read more

This is a popular local spot, though I do not understand the attraction. The food is okay, but priced higher than the quality would suggest. It has an open floor plan, which has been filled with as many tables as they could fit, giving a crowded feel. There is no sound buffering on the ceiling and walls, making it a very loud place when it fills up. There are better places in Ukiah, though not many. read more

Stopped here on our way to pillsbury and called for a take out meal. No problem they said and it'd be a 15 minute wait. We arrived 20minutes later only to find our food wasn't ready. Not a big deal i thought, until 30 minutes later we were still standing by the front door as people came and went. Would have left and skipped the wait but we had already paid. This place brought us back to life after a 3-day camping trip in Mendocino. They were one of the only diners open on the 4th of July, Their service was spectacular, and the food was even better. We were so happy and well fed that when we were leaving in an attempt to vigorously thank our server, I awkwardly thanked the entire dining room. I just rolled with it though because we were so grateful. I drove all the way home to San Francisco with a full belly, only to realize I had left my debit card at the restaurant. I called them and they picked up the phone 2 minutes before their closing time. They were so sweet and told me they'd mail me my debit card. If I could give this place 100 stars I would! Servers gave amazing service. Food was hit and miss. The chicken fried pork cutlet was filled with greasy fat; however the green chile sauce poured over it ( in lieu of gravy) was really good. The biscuits and gravy was tasty, and the eggs were good. The bacon was thick. The Hollandaise sauce over the Eggs Benedict was not good at all. The country potatoes were just fine. The food was unbelievable, I am so happy we decided to try this place over other chain restaurant like Denny's, the food hit the spot and I am so happy to have found this place on our trip to Fort Bragg. The chorizo omelet was amazing, all the ingredients tasted so fresh. Service by Melissa was above and beyond what it can be expected. She notice we were out of town and helped up figured out the best places to visit in the Area. This is my must stop place for breakfast in Ukiah! I always order the same thing Huevos Rancheros and I am never disappointed! Fresh tortilla, great sauce (red or green), fresh eggs and potatoes. It never fails me. I have tried their waffles which are awesome. Full disclosure my child orders them and can never finish the whole plate so dad has to pitch in... It's my job. I am also an observant diner and have noticed many regulars who make Stan's a part of their daily/weekly routine. I can see why. Had another delicious breakfast here with great service once again. Our server actually remembered us from our last visit two months ago, which I thought was really neat since we are out-of-towners. I totally dumped coffee across the table, almost onto my husband's lap if it weren't for the two staff members who were seemingly there in an instant with towels. Our son woke up super early and this place was open. Good portions, wonderful service with lots of checking in, which is something I miss in the East Bay. Food was decent, my husband loved his veggie omelette and I appreciated the The Grande, which has a little bit of everything. My toddler loved his Mickey Mouse pancake. I have eaten at Maple Cafe maybe five or six times now and every result is the same. The portions you get are huge and that first bite is excellent, but then you start to notice all the grease that has built up on the plate. I ordered an omelette and even that had excess grease dripping everywhere (from the spinach I believe?). My wife actually used a napkin once for a breakfast quesadilla and the thing was drenched. My most recent order was a bit better, I suggest getting hash browns instead of the home-style potatoes. Still, there are other options out there that are less greasy and cheaper. read more

We went here for the first time during our quest for the best eggs Benedict in Ukiah. Although it is definitely NOT the winner, it's a really good diner. The good: service is GREAT. They know how to run a restaurant (i.e. employ bussers and runners to support wait staff). You get water right away and coffee if you want it. Kudos! This is very rare in Mendocino. The menu is nice, the food is good and reasonably priced. The bad (sort-of): this place is BUSY. On the weekends there is usually a line out the door, so expect a wait. This isn't necessarily a bad thing; there is certainly no wait for the check. That being said, their turnover rate is so high, the experience feels rushed. When you're done eating, they want you out. Good for them. This is not the kind of place where you relax after brunch, talking over a cup of coffee. The ugly: paprika's flavors are released by heating it. When overused as a garnish, as they do here, it imparts a bitter taste that dulls out the flavors of everything else. Also, the country potatoes are not crispy, and no matter what your server says, they will never be crispy. All in all: stay away from the eggs Benedict. read more

This was my 1st experience here. I was traveling through. I make the drive from OR to Ca and back twice a year and I was looking for someplace to become my regular stopping spot. I ordered the corn beef hash special, because I love corn beef hash! This was the worst I've ever had. Only cooked on 1 side then flopped onto the plate. It was barely warm. I told the server, she was very sorry. I didn't make a big deal out of it because they were fairly busy. I guess I should have, I had to deal with a very upset stomach for the next 5 hours on my drive north. I have many years of restaurant experience both BOH & FOH. The cook was cutting corners and I paid for it. I would recommend retraining the BOH staff in this restaurant. Unfortunately this restaurant will not be my choice as a regular stopping spot in the future. read more

This is our FAVORITE place to go! We eat here almost every weekend for the past several years. It is amazing how everyone seems to know everyone. The staff is always friendly and always make you feel right at home. Our food is always consistent and hot! Its not a fancy place but modern with a plasma, which most seem to like. I am not a fan of breakfast but husband is. We both enjoyed our breakfasts. Hearty is an understatement. He had the State Street Special..a skillet with ham, bacon, link sausage and cheeses over home fries with two eggs. It was all cooked perfectly. I had Joe's Special.. eggs scrambled with ground beef, cheese and mushrooms with a green chili sauce with hash browns. Holy cow, it was good!
