Day prior we went to the competition across the street that got a little more Yelp star power but Mama's was truly the icing on the cake and 10x better. The sour dough pancake was different than any pancake we've had before. You must give it a try if you like sour dough and pancakes. Choose your toppings or get the special apple pancake. The Yokaya scramble was hearty and everything described. The potatoes, exactly as they should be: crispy, salty and with rosemary. Great job! It was a rainy day but we were happy to be welcomed and served warmly in this cozy street side location. Old time jazz played and the coffee was free flowing. The food is very well prepared and presented, the service is friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is comfortable and not overdone. They have great fried potatoes, everyone at our table agreed. Stopped by Mamas for breakfast the other morning while in town, and it was a brilliant day outside so I sat out front in the sun and enjoyed the morning. The exterior had a couple two top cafe tables on each side of the entry so I grabbed on of those sunny spots. I walked into the to go side and got a cup of coffee from the young lady running the register, she was kind, friendly and professional. After a cup of coffee, I decided to grab some breakfast while there. I went for the good morning Ukiah, two eggs to order, with breakfast spuds, bacon and a housemade biscuit. The eggs cooked spot on,over medium and the bacon crispy, the sage potatos were also good. This was the first time that I had eaten at this restaurant. The food was very delicious. It came out promptly and it was made as I asked. I requested that my rosemary potatoes aside of my eggs Benedict were cooked crisp. And they came out as requested. Our waitress was Heidi and Devin also bussed our table. The only complaint was that I was disappointed with the water that was provided which she said was lemon water. I couldn't taste any lemon whatsoever, it didn't have ice, but I did taste like a musty public water taste. It's hard to describe. I asked for a side of lemon to be added to my glass to help with the taste but it never did come. I also was surprised that they didn't serve it with ice as it was lukewarm. Overall, the food and the service were good enough that I would return as their menu has many delicious options to choose from. There were many photos on the wall to look at with a short autobiography of the photographer, which were very nice to see and read. They do have an outside seating area as well in the back which looked very nice to be able to dine at as the inside of the restaurant is cozy but tight. read more

The service is hit or miss; usually they are on top of everything, but there have been a few occasions I show up at the designated time and they are 20mins behind. More recently though, they have made ordering online the only option which is less ideal because sometimes the site will freeze / won't function on the payment page. Okay, I think that this place is very good!! I went in thinking I was going to get the oven baked pancakes but I got distracted!! I'm a huge fan girl of hollandaise sauce. I have to get it almost everywhere I go... Some places have really good hollandaise and others are lumpy and horrible. I'm happy to say that Mama's café hollandaise sauce was impeccable! It was light, creamy and fresh with a hint of lemon, just the way you want hollandaise sauce to be. I got it with spinach and the eggs were runny and perfectly poached!! Sorry, cant rate the food. The service however for my mother and I specifically was lacking. My mom and I started our girls day here cause word of mouth suggestions. There was a large table waiting for more guest and another couple 2 tops sitting that had already ordered when we got there. We sat patiently for quite a while after the server quickly dropped waters off for us then wandered back to the front. Came back took the tables order after their final guest had arrived, almost 6 people. Then two women came in after sat down and the lady went right up to them pleasant as can be chatting with them offering drinks and order. We ended up leaving after sitting for at least 15 minutes of no service. The food is so good both times I've been here that it's really impossible to give less than 4 stars. And the only reason I'm doing it is because they are a couple little issues that keep me from giving the full 5. They are these two things: 1) the suction to tables is a little slow and 2) I have a pet peeve against restaurants that use the little tiny wasteful 1/2 n 1/2 containers that normally take so least 4 or 5 per cup for people like me who like alot of cream in their coffee. Why don't they just buy the gallons and fill little cream containers? It's so much less wasteful and less messy on the table! So that said, the coffee used was truly delicious! We got the BLTA Benedict and the waffle with gravy, and the regular bene; all were divine with true fantastic holindaiz sauce. I love the creativity in this place. 6/26/25 I've been a customer for years. They have no way to order pick-up, no phone, so you have to go there, wait in line to order and then wait 10 to 30 minutes for your food to go. The prices are high. I was charged $19.80, without tip, without drink. Their food used to be good but is now hit or miss. On 6/26 I ordered a "Fiesta Bowl" with 2 eggs over easy. After a 10-minute-plus wait, I was handed a cardboard carton. When I got to work and opened it, I discovered NOT "crispy with rosemary" but instead greasy, salty, MUSHY lumps of nearly mashedpotatoes, with two RUBBERY OVERCOOKED EGGS on top. There were 2 slices of avocado and a cup of aoli, with a very small amount of salsa. The eggs and potatoes were inedible. On 6/28/25, I asked for either my money back or a new order cooked properly. The owner said, "Why didn't you bring it back?" Incredible ! should have driven back there, waited again, to wonder if they had yet learned how to cook over-easy eggs and crispy "rosemary" potatoes! I told them the problem and was rudely told to get my "fiesta bowl" somwhere else. WOW DON'T GO HERE! read more
