Lucky's has the best meat/seafood dept in this area. Three's a crowd system so you're not waiting forever in line.

Called two days before my meat was dated to go bad, spoke with meat department person who told me…read moreto bring it back when the meat dept was open and they would exchange the meat, I mentioned it would be hard to get in when they were open before the holiday due to my work schedule, the man was very accommodating and said just come in as soon as you can. Well this was shortly before the Thanksgiving holiday and I wasn't able to get in when the meat dept. was open until after Thanksgiving. I got to the store when the meat dept was open and was now told that I would have to bring the meat back when the manager was in or when the customer service dept. person was open. I came back during their open hours (which I called to confirm) but the serv dept person closes an hour early and takes her lunch during that last hour (apparently). Someone must have told her I was waiting for her, she came up and said "I will not be returning your meat, we no longer return meat" so they can sell items that go bad prior to expiration (which is happening more and more with more and more products). If something goes ROTTEN prior to exp. Date and you wish to EXCHANGE it for an edible item, it isn't a return, it's an exchange. I guess I will NO LONGER buy meat at Safeway!!! This crap stinks to high heaven as I have now pulled it out of the freezer (to keep it from spoiling any more than it had already) and hauling it back and forth to the store in attempts of getting the product replaced.

I do not want to buy things that some strange dog licked/ this is a food store!! I welcome an actual service dog, but mangy pets should NOT be allowed in. The store is also discontinuing favorite brands and slowly turning all the shelf space to mostly store-brand junk. It's Dirty and very few checkouts open but the self check, which I refuse to use because they don't want to pay employees. The homeless hanging around outside asking for money, stealing in the store and making you feel unsafe in the parking lot is not enough for one security guard to handle.

Westside Renaissance Market - Double turkey sandwich, as described on the menu. ( I did not ask them to change anything. It's perfect, as is!!!)

This place has a lot of positive buzz, so I was excited to see all their food selections…read more This place is like a mini 7-Eleven with higher a decent selection of higher end dessert items, including honey halva. They do, however, have a large selection of wine and beer. Depending on prices, this might be their biggest draw. The ambience here is old small town store vibe. Many of their shelf stable specialty items have no price on them so you really don't know what the price tag is unless you don't care or have to ask. The service counter is very small and crowded with the kind of things you would find in a Seven-11--lottery tickets, vitamins, gum etc. Service was OK for what it is. Maybe because I came on a Tuesday, there were only half a dozen premade salads, (bean salad, potato, salad, etc.) A list of sandwich specialties were handwritten written on a piece of paper tacked to the wall. Specialty Sandwich selections were limited, but they will make you any type of sandwich you want. I had a ham and cheese, and the ham was that slick, processed type of ham, which most folks don't care for. Bottom line: it's resting on its sandwich laurels , trying to maximize profits as best they can.

I don't get to eat here often enough, but they have never disappointed me!!!…read more The sandwiches are always amazing and definitely enough for 2 meals, if you can resist not eating that second half! They're always so delicious! The little bodega itself is really great as well! It's unbelievable how much variety you can find in such a little store. This is a true hidden gem in Ukiah!

Inside there's a real, old-fashioned meat counter but they'll also make you one heck of a sandwich. The sandwiches are the subject of this review. Go up to the meat counter and there are slips of paper where you can specify what you'd like on your sandwich. You can detail out the meal right down to the kind of mustard you want on it, and the cheese, bread and meat selection are all terrific. There are certain days where there are hot barbecued pork sandwiches but there's something for everyone. The ladies behind the counter are always very friendly and these are the kind of sandwiches where you have to almost unhinge your jaw to get a good bite, and your mouth will thank you for the effort. The sandwiches are really, really good. Being a market, you can select all sorts of things to go with your sandwich from chips, nuts raw potatoes, etc. etc. Okay, maybe hold off on the raw potatoes but the variety of drinks and side snacks is just what you'd expect in a market. I don't understand why there's a line at any chain sandwich shop within 10 miles of this place as the friendly, English-speaking folks behind the counter make a sandwich that two normal people could easily share and be very satisfied. Even my healthy appetite is challenged by these meals on bread, not like the breadwiches those lousy chains make. The meat here looks good and, again, it's a full little market so they have all sorts of things but the sandwiches are my favorite and make me happy that it's vending machine fillin' day.

I had went in there and saw a cockroach on the floor running, and they messed up on my sandwich.read more

SOOO GLAD I found this place. It is legit!! We ordered 2 carne asada burritos with everything to go!! So dang good!!! So authentic! The rice, The beans. The asada and everything else!! Yumm!! So good for my weary soul. The homemade flour tortillas reminded me of growing up in central California. I have been craving one ever since. This place did not disappoint! My one gripe is they only give you one side of salsa for your GINORMOUS BURRITO!! Which is probably enough for a normal Person BUT...This salsa roja is FIRE!!! Fantastic flavor with a solid kick!! Hunky hubster and I love heat so for us it was perfect and we were wanting MORE!! Hubs finished his whole burrito but I could only do 1/4 to 1/3 it was so packed full of goodness!! Everyone was helpful and friendly from the employees in the market to the servers/ cooks outside. Was great to watch them make the tortillas while you wait. 5/5 with no complaints only ravings and a deep abiding sadness that it is 8.5 hours (on a good day) away from home. We travel this way once a year to visit my Mother in Love in Brookings for her bday. I will be looking forward to next July when I can have my old school Mexican food longings fulfilled!! If you are bougie don't bother. But if you love the non fancy down to earth road side Mexican food with no flairs or fusion BS, it's definitely worth the time. $30 for 2 Carne Asada burritos LOADED WITH EVERYTHING!! Worth every penny and for me, more than enough to share! Again... if you like heat ask for extra salsa!!
