My husband and I had a nice experience at Standard Proof Whiskey and we highly recommend doing their whiskey tasting. We went on a Sunday, and it was pretty slow, which actually made the visit even better. The staff had plenty of time to really walk us through the different whiskeys, share details, and answer questions, which made it feel much more personal and engaging. The tasting itself was fantastic. My favorite was the ginger rye; it was so unique and unlike anything I've had before. During a quick trip to Nashville, we stopped by Standard Proof to try some local whiskies. You could do a tasting flight for $27 and try all 8 flavors of their whiskeys and get $10 discount on a purchase of a bottle. Happy hours are Monday - Friday from 4-7pm. We actually did dinner a little backwards and stopped in Standard Proof before dinner to catch the tail-end of their happy hour. I ordered the espresso martini ($13/$9 HH) and the drink was SO GOOD! The drink is composed of coffee infused rye, espresso, coconut cream, and cinnamon. I also tried a sip of the old fashioned ($13/$9 HH) which was equally delightful. The guys here are great and knowledgeable. We ended up purchasing 2 bottles - the standard rye and honeysuckle rye. We had a great time at this distillery and would come back! read more

What a fun flight. We got caught in a downpour & were expecting to have to hang out under an awning but this place opened a little bit early, so we were so grateful for the reprieve from the onslaught of drops. Service was phenomenal. The decor is dim, comforting & classy. The whiskeys themselves are all so diverse. The two of us loved the OG bourbon, that was our absolute favorite. The cinnamon rye is like drinking adult apple pie. The coffee rye is so smooth. Can I have a bit of that in my coffee please? If you are an adventeror, the hot chicken pickleback shot is so fun. We are flying, so packing bottles really isn't feasible but we will be ordering online! read more

After walking for a bit and trying to look for a chill place to just relax and do some whiskey tasting we stumbled on one of the coolest spots. The vibes were chill not too packed like the other places which was a bit overwhelming to be honest. We walked in and sat by the Bar and were attended by Jeremy who manages the place. He was honestly one of the chillest person ever, and knew his Whiskey and made our experience one to remember and took his time with us and made conversation. The other bartenders were very easygoing as well. The drinks they made were phenomenal.. love the garnishes and how smooth they were. The vibes here were great, there was great music playing in the background not too loud so we can still hear conversations. Loved the art and portraits around the place as well. Don't leave without taking pictures on their Photo Booth literally super fun and try and squeeze as many people in there guarantee it will fun! Their bathrooms were clean. I really loved that there were many areas you can sit if you were either a group. There was the bar area, tables, and some cool couches as well if you wanted to hangout and have a drink or watch sports in their TV's they had. We were visiting Nashville and thought this place looked cool. We decided to give It a try based on the sign outside that said happy hour all day Mon-Wed. We came in on a Tuesday and so we thought the sign would apply. We went to the bar and they said that sign wasn't true. I went and took a picture of the sign and showed It to them so they went and took the sign down but wouldn't honor the sign. We decided to stay and try the bourbon which was good but based on the customer service I can only give 1 star. Hopefully they can own up to their mistakes in the near future. read more

Very disappointed in the place. It was a mess, as the server behind the counter had not clean any glasses from prior guests; there was no clean area to sit. She was sloppy dressed (oversized sweats) and the whole time stood and talked with a guy at the corner of bar. We only ordered one drink as we sat for 10 minutes with empty glasses. Finally we called her over and asked her to cash us out! There was another party of ladies who sat at a table and they had to come to counter to check out cuz she never went back to check on them! It's impossible to give Standard Proof anything but 5 stars. We've stopped in multiple times and had a great time each time. Staff is friendly, the vibe is nicely chilled (literally, in the summer heat, and figuratively), and the bartending staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about what they serve. I'd definitely recommend popping into their cute little photobooth if you want a take-home memory. It's $5, and it takes credit cards too. (I love the ones I got) They also offer cocktail classes here in a separately stocked bar in the back of Standard Proof. This means any cocktail class won't be bothering you while you enjoy your cocktails at the center bar. With its classy, upscale vibe in here, you'll probably feel more in-place if you aren't in the typical Broadway street swimsuits and jean shorts, but there didn't seem to be any dress code. Lots of business people and date night couples though. It's quiet with light background music. Their Espresso Martini is REALLY creative; even if you aren't a big whiskey person, I recommend it. I was so excited to visit Standard Proof. I love Nashville, I love whiskey, and it has a perfect 5-star Yelp rating. I could not have been more disappointed in a distillery. The bartenders felt a little short-tempered, and I'm guessing it's because I was taking away attention from their regulars? Not sure. Also live action Scooby Doo was playing on the TV, which was obnoxious. I got a flight to try all the available whiskies. My favorite flavors were coffee, honeysuckle, pineapple, but even those weren't that memorable. I couldn't finish the entire flight because half the flavors were too sickly sweet or unpalatable, especially cinnamon. I'm happy for everyone whose jam this is, and I really tried hard to like Standard Proof. Just wasn't for me. read more

I was shocked by how many whiskeys/drinks we got to try for the price - it is SO completely worth the price (especially if Kat is your bartender!) I was a bit apprehensive at first since I am not a big whiskey fan, but their selection truly has something for everyone. Their whiskey-based espresso martini is genuinely the best one I've ever had. We were here for a bachelorette trip and it was such a perfect activity. You get to sample whiskeys, make cocktails, and get a special discount on all purchases following the class. They even send you a list of all of their custom recipes afterward! We had some drinks at the bar after our class which were wonderful as well. I went here twice on my Nashville trip and loved it both times! It was right next to my Air bnb so it was a convenient spot to walk to and sit down for a relaxing drink. My first stop here the bartender made us a drink based on what we told him we liked which was very kind and made us feel special. He was very friendly and told us some of his life story while he made out drinks. My second visit here the bartender made my drink very fast and it was delicious. HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. I thought the place had a cool vibe and my drink was good. But then this happened: There was a manager clearly training a new bartender. They were talking behind the bar when the new hire hit a vape several times during the conversation right in front of me. Not only is that a health code violation, but I didn't observe her wash her hands afterward, nor did I observe the manager do anything about it. Rather, the manager left shortly after. Makes me wonder about other sanitation practices if this is what occurs during training. Gross. read more

I am not a huge whiskey person BUT I realized that you don't have to be to appreciate it and depending on the whiskey you may come to find one you may like ! My partner and I tried the flight and it was so fun ! I was impressed with the variety and I loved the elderflower one !! They also had a wide variety of drinks on their menu. ALSO I have to appliqué who ever decorated this place because it is so cute! It's a very sexy and cute place which is hard to find from outside but a very nice hold in the place spot.
