We visited this Frothy Monkey location 2-3 times while visiting Nashville. It was right across the street from our hotel, making it very convenient to run across for our morning coffee! There is quite a bit of seating inside, it definitely looks smaller from the outside than it is. There's also an adorable outdoor patio with a good amount of tables. Our service was always friendly each time we went in. Mornings seemed pretty busy, there was usually a line. But as the day went on you could pop in for a drink or snack and there would be no wait. I got the chai tea with oat milk and I will say that the drink was quite oat milk heavy, I really couldn't taste too much of the chai which is unfortunate since this drink was about $7. The initial taste was great, but when mixed in with everything else it was just a bit bland. It would be great if they offered to add different flavorings as well or add that to the menu. This is a really cute brunch spot in a prime location. It was a 45 minute wait on a Saturday morning (they don't have reservations), but they seated us in about 25. From there the service was just ok, as it was obviously very busy, but the inside was just as cute as the outside. The line to just get a to-go coffee was out the door and probably upwards of 30-45 minutes long, so I would probably find a new place if you're looking for something quick. The outdoor seating and ambiance were definitely the highlights -- relaxing, welcoming, and a great spot to sit and chat. We tried a couple of their drinks, including the Irish Coffee and the Monkey Mocha, but unfortunately neither really impressed me. Both tasted a bit underwhelming and felt like they could've been much better given the reputation of the place. They do offer a full food menu, which is nice, but since we didn't try the food I can't comment on that part. This coffee shop is a staple of 12 S. Since they're so busy, you can get on the waitlist for a table, as my family did today. We arrived around 2 o'clock, and there was a 30-minute wait, so we walked around and looked at shops, then came back and sat inside. The staff was very friendly, and it seemed like we didn't just have one server, but everyone stopped to make sure we were OK throughout our visit. There are various places to sit inside or outside, covered or under trees. You may also order at the counter and take drinks to go. There is an excellent feel to the place. I approve of all the plants. There were six of us, and we all got beverages and two of their appetizer boards to share. I ordered a large hot chai tea latte with 2% milk. It was delicious and lovely on this chilly day. Someone got a Matcha iced Matcha and loved it. There was regular coffee, hot chocolate, cold brew, and a honey-something latte that my sister said was the best coffee she had had in a long time, and she drinks it every day. For a snack, we got the biscuit board with whipped feta and the veggie board also with whipped feta. The biscuits were great, and the feta and jam tasted good. The veggie board was good, and we loved the cucumbers and olives, but we were a little shocked to see the banana peppers on it and no carrots. We were not expecting there to be bread on the board. I've been a regular at Frothy Monkey for years, but my experience today was incredibly disappointing. I ordered an 8 oz steamed milk for my one-year-old baby and was charged $4. After waiting quite a while (which is typical at FM), the barista handed me the milk. When I poured it into my baby's bottle--with clear measurement markings--it only filled 4 oz. When I asked about it, the barista told me "that's our 8 oz." That explanation made no sense as I was looking at the clear marking that showed a 4 oz. pour, so I asked to speak with a manager. The "manager" came over and repeated the same explanation. I clarified that my concern was very simple: I paid for 8 oz of milk but only received 4 oz. His solution was to queue up another "8 oz" cup of milk and would make it quickly, which I initially agreed to, thinking he was going to right the wrong. However, when then rang it up and asked me for another $4. At that point I declined and left. By then my wait time had essentially tripled, my baby was crying, and it felt like I was being charged twice just to receive the amount of milk I originally paid for. I understand cafés get busy and mistakes happen. But insisting that 4 oz equals 8 oz--and then asking customers to pay again to make up the difference--feels like a blatant rip-off. If this is how portions are being represented, customers should be aware of what they're actually getting. Customers are being overcharged for half portions! read more

Frothy monkey is my favorite place for a salmon salad, oddly enough. Do I have a picture of it? No. But trust me on this. I only started eating seafood three years ago and I get weird about cooked fish- I don't like that it's flaky when you cook it. That's nefarious. The salmon here is like... pressed? As they cook it? Which results in firmer flesh! It's almost chicken like texture and for me it is a great thing. But still very yummy flavor and juicy. I recommended frothy monkey to a friend who is a self appointed salmon expert and he said it was a top 3 salmon salad for him. Also they have coffee and fun pastries. After I got my IUD in I treated myself to a chocolate croissant from here and let me tell you it totally helped the fact that my body was violently rejecting a foreign implant.
