Very terrible dental office. Awful service. I called off of work for this appointment, which is a big deal for teachers. We don't take very many days. I booked this appointment over the phone using information I got from my insurance company. After I booked, I never heard from them again. They don't send email confirmations nor information about time or location. When I get there no one answers the door. I searched through me email for a confirmation, that's when I realized there never was one. I went back to where I found them originally and called that number. They changed their location. I asked why I hadn't gotten any confirmation and the receptionist said she called me many times. I felt bad thinking I missed them. The call got "disconnected" -- probably hung up on me. I went through weeks of calls after I got off the phone and there was nothing. No voicemail from any dental office. I called back and mentioned how we got disconnected and explained I never received a call. But she said that she removed my appointment, that it's not their responsibility to make sure their insurance companies know their addresses, and there was nothing to do and that she could only book it for another day. Why would I want to book here again? They don't communicate with their insurance companies and they don't communicate with their clients. I wasn't getting the vibe that they actually care about clients and I would never book again at a place where I'm not treated well.

3 rd review .. You know what I appreciate mostly is Accountability, I had a slight appointment misunderstanding with st marks painless dental office and I left Determined not to return . When I got home I received a call from the office front Desk staff Rectifying the issue which went well. This place is Clean .the staff are super friendly, the doctor smells good lol . I overheard doctor Pfizer speaking with multiple staff and it was pleasing to the ear how he Communicated with them . I get a sense of Family in this building . I like this dental office and I'm glad I don't have to switch ,it's one of the most comfortable Dental establishments I have ever visited . I feel as though people who have had issues with the office simply lack communication skills ,sometimes people need to breathe and use positive words and not always be demanding. As a young heavily Tattooed black male ,I was treated like a person ..like a customer and I appreciated that. I'm happy with My doctor and front desk staff simple amazing business and Beautiful people. My recommendation is to check this place out yourself, and then come back to Yelp and you would understand . Hey ... I'm painless now ! Thank you

I've also had a lot of work done previously so I hate to be judged by a new dentist/hygienist every time. At the beginning of this year I was looking for a new dentist to finally just get over my fear and make sure I'm all good. I ended up choosing to visit Dr. Steinbach after checking out the different yelp reviews on him and his office. I called and made an appointment and made sure to emphasize that I was nervous. When I walked in the first time, Lisa who works at the front desk was really nice and always helpful. The hygienist and Dr. Steinbach both knew how I felt about the dentist and did their best to make me feel 100% comfortable and they succeeded! Everyone in the office is so welcoming and they make the entire dentist appointment comfortable. I've been to the office about 3 times now and never had to wait to be seen. I have had some root canals done through my previous dentists and Dr. Steinbach recommended that I see an endodontist as they have more of a preventative measure approach so therefore, the endodontist who specializes in root canals can figure out if I need to re-do them or if they're all good. The office is also very modern and the chairs are so comfortable! I can't stress how comfortable I've felt at the office and I don't dread going to the dentist anymore. Highly highly recommend, especially if you have a fear of the dentist.

Environment is very comfortable Dr. Steinbach was the first doctor when I was visiting right after covid ended because I had a root canal during covid that needed a crown. He was very honest with me and told me I would need an implant. It was a very dramatic news for me but they were wonderful. I was referred out to the close by ortho dentist and the came back to get my crown. The entire experience was straight forward and easy. They never tried to upsell me anything. My only issue with this location is the Dental Cleaning. After finishing up the issues with my teeth, I had a dental cleaning and it was extremely painful. I thought it was just normal when I started visiting the Court Side location since it was more convenient for me, Dr. Karpova did my cleaning was literally pain free. I assumed it was cause maybe previously I had dirty teeth This month I did cleaning at this location again since it was convenient and since I been keeping up with all my cleanings it wouldnt be too bad. No, it was very rough and felt rushed. I did not feel comfortable at all. I might try court street again for cleaning, but if its still painful I think I will switching for cleaning. However for other procedures where the actual dentist is working on it, I would absolutely recommend this place.

For 5 years i went to this place for all dental work (until now, since they stopped taking fidelis…read moremedicaid), as someone with severe medical phobia, it my critical 1st adult self regulated visited place for cleaning, root canals, extractions, numerous emergencies unplanned for which they've been patient for -- many unscheduled walk-ins on my part since I was barely contactable to medical spaces, and, they didn't turn me away. It's a collective of dentists, so quality and fit are a wheel of fortune , varying in experience, strengths and weaknesses. I'd felt extremely grateful that I was able to verbalize with one dentist who was a consistent one I'd follow up with for several significant procedures, because it was crucial and navigateable rapport I could go thru and not feel petrified about, and attempt a single portfolio and history with someone working on me. It opened a door. Coincidentally, steadily for the past two years, all of the work she's done (each one kind of heavy) has failed, pretty hard, (with unraveling heavy consequences requiring heavier work) and she's already no longer part of that office. Three crowns, and an extraction. One crown rotted off, tooth needed to be extracted. One popped off, got recemented. One crown's been failing for years, reinfecting six times while I've been failing to make it to an endodontist, because I'm daunted to see a specialist, and feel a sense of defeat, and finally cracked last week. I usually brush only once a day, or floss/mouthwash in lieu, additionally, rather than twice a day, so I figured I was responsible, for a long time, and I do think it's a grey area, but, every single job that was hers went off-kilter within two years. Yet, Back then, It was all work I needed , and it got done at the time. I was relieved I would and could get it done at all. I think she was doing her best,(again) at the time. It's unfortunate. I think this is accessible for poor people and is a option when there is none, which is drastic from nothing. She wasn't the only one I saw and did work on me. Someone else who did an extraction, and bone graft surgery has left me in a good stable state as I've witnessed in the past year and a half. Someone else recemented the crown she did that fell off in less than a year or two later, and it's still holding up a year later. If I had a choice, I'd continue going there if I didn't have to pay out of pocket, and stick with the person who did the surgery, only because of how little guard they put for me to just come in. I was always felt extremely lucky just to always get any communication and no turn aways from them, regardless from the rabbit-out-of-the hat treatment, altho, in hindsight, maybe it was just from who happens to me my most longtime dentist, and it could've easily been or gotten transferred to 3 or 4 other individuals. The assisting staff, front desk, everyone else besides the dentists, who took x-rays, were all overly servicing and memorable, it feels like they formed a relationship with me.

I am SO thankful for Dr. Hoang after an absolutely HORRIBLE experience at Prospect Heights Dental…read more(which you can read all about at their Yelp page). After a practice that didn't take covid seriously, did an unnecessary and COSTLY dental procedure that I am still healing from weeks later, hurting my lip, and being just a complete disorganized disaster, I'm really lucky that my second shot at dentistry was so much better. I prefaced in my last review that I made the mistake of not going to the dentist for a long time - granted, I didn't have insurance for 6 months and then the moment I got insurance, covid happened and I got scared. But still, it's reasonable I had a ton of build up/tartar/gum disease and definitely a wake up call for me. At the last dentist, I was told immediately I needed a root and scaling/deep clean without them even doing the measurement thing on my gums, just x-rays. They did the root and scale on my right side but not my left (only one is done at a time), which has left me weeks later with angry miserable gums, gaps in my teeth I didn't prior have, and cost me $500 out of pocket. When I got to Dr. Hoang, she actually took her time examining my x-rays, my gums, and my mouth to find that 1) the deep clean didn't even deep clean, as I still had a bunch of tartar making my gums even more unhappy and 2) my gums weren't as bad as I had thought, and I didn't even need to do a root and scaling/deep clean on the left side. If I had gone to Dr. Hoang in the first place, I wouldn't be still miserable, with ugly and uncomfortable gaps in my teeth that I literally struggle to talk and eat with, and wouldn't be out $500 as all she did was a regular cleaning for me on the left. My biggest disappointment is I didn't go to her first. On top of that she's super sweet, lets you ask questions, doesn't make you feel bad about your obvious mistakes, and makes sure you fully feel comfortable before she does anything. Thank you so much for restoring my faith in dentistry. The practice is also great!!! Sallie from reception was very pleasant over the phone and email, and I'm not sure if it was her or a different receptionist at the front today, but she was great too. Everyone is wearing masks and taking Covid very seriously. They sent out a covid form the night before and took my temperature when I arrived. And...... last thing, they were playing Death Cab for Cutie when I walked in. As a born and raised Seattleite, this made me so happy :)

When we started going to Lumia dental, we were extremely pleased with how friendly and competent…read morethey were. It was an added bonus that this was a female owned and run company (of which alas they are still way too few nowadays). Their patient care is excellent and as far as any dental work is concerned, I would highly recommend them. However, as their business grew and expanded, I was starting to worry about what this would mean for their patients. My worries did eventually come true: from a patient based practice, it turned more into a corporate business, and with it, the desire/need for higher profits. As a result, they decided to no longer accept our insurance (Guardian dental, a major dental insurance company) because, according to them, their low fee schedule did not allow them to provide the best care for their patients. Now, that latter is just rethoric, for they were doing an excellent job. Why would that need to stop? No, it was because Guardians fee schedule did not make them enough profit. The way it works is as follows: a dental practice can determine its own fees for various procedures. An insurance company, through collective bargaining, can then negotiate for a reduced schedule for their clients (depending on the local competition). So, accepting an insurance first and foremost means to agree to the collectively bargained fees. While getting less profit, it means a much larger potential client base. This is the power of collective bargaining (which would be so much more effective if health care in the US would be universal, like it is in many other countries and, as a result, also much affordable). For Lumia, however, loyalty to their patients was not deemed as important as getting more profit (perhaps because of the increased costs of having expanded the business) and so they dropped Guardian as one of the accepted insurances. To give one example: our insurance pays the full fee for a cleaning every 4 months. However, they now raised their fee for a cleaning, making us having to pay more than $100 for something that was previously free. And you can guess that with more involved procedures, the out-of-pocket costs gets up even higher. That is why we had to leave Lumia as clients---essentially being pushed out as not being affluent enough clients that do not mind paying much more than they used to---and we now found an equally competent dental clinic in the neighborhood which does accept our insurance. I can only assume that we will not be the only patients leaving the practice, and in the long run, this might seriously damage Lumia (unless they can find enough wealthy clients in the downtown area).
