I've been coming here for years. I've been seen by Dr. Tehrani for a variety of issues from simple to more severe and he's been fantastic. Most of the hygienists have been excellent and I often see the same person. It's nice having some continuity. Five stars for Nicole, the hygienist. She was so patient, thorough and kind. She took a lot of time with me and made me feel very relaxed.

The appointment was 2:45pmarrived with notice of trying to get parking and had another call from office at 2:52pm what my ETA would be which was 5min arrived at 2:57 to be told I was being canceled. The 15min grace period only exist for chosen population who came in after at 3:15pm. As for race the token systems inplace were obvious prompted and groomed to accommodate the ideal environment/business objectives for said situation aforementioned. I never mentioned the ethnicity, however quite interesting your practice called me 20seconds of 1st post with interrogated tones. Unprofessional, and BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE/SUPPORT. I had been coming here for about 10 years but will not be returning. My last appointment for a cleaning was scheduled two months ahead of time. Less than two weeks before the day of the appointment I got a voicemail saying the doctors "decided to close the office that day," so I would need to call back and reschedule. I called back and was told the next available was in two more months. Sorry but I am not going to wait two more months for doctors who do not honor their commitments to their long time patients. read more

I have been going here since last year in the fall. the appointments are spread out really far, and the dentist gives you advice(prognosis as well as diagnosis) regarding your tooth and gums/bones. It is hard to get work done when your insurance doesn't cover a lot but when you change your insurance and it might be a little helpful, you still have to finish with the hygienist before dealing with the actual dentist. the appointments are spread out, and the department that is supposed to send information to your insurance about the work needed does not do their due diligence and only tells you that they will and you won't hear anything back from them. I don't know if this is a (non-Hispanic) reason. I am not Hispanic like most of the workers there or should I say, most are non-black. I am still waiting for my cleaning to be complete, have not seen the dentist since last fall (which is needed). I believe that I will be forced to change to another office that actually cares and not about my race. I believe that the lack of sending information to my new insurance, tells me that; they are hoping for me to get lost. I initially thought that this place was great, regarding the dental receptionist and the hygienist/dentist but the staff that is in the back is not sending my information to my insurance as they promised so work won't get done due to the lack of. I've been with this dentist office since shortly after they opened and of all the dentists I've had- especially in NYC- they're my favorite. I like the availability of appointments, they take care of my insurance stuff, the receptionist is responsive about reminding me for appointments (text and a phone call!) and they have great hygienists. Great experience today at the dentist! This team is aces - the front desk staff worked quickly to update my insurance info, the hygienist was fantastic - xrays, cleaning, polishing - advice, Dr. D'Arco was great and thorough in his examination. I've been treated once by Dr. Terhani and had a great experience with him too (this is going back a few years). I've been a patient there on and off for a few years. I felt like I was a broken down car being serviced by robots. Really, a terrible experience at the dentist. And less you think I'm some high maintenance dude with nasty teeth: I was just getting a teeth cleaning. The receptionist was both nice on the phone and in person. Everyone else pretended I didn't exist. I honestly had three phrases uttered to me: "hello", "open", "your teeth are fine". As the assistant cleaned my teeth I'm pretty sure she was not intentionally trying to cause pain or make things worse for me. I just think she could care less, about me, about teeth, and about life maybe? Just go somewhere else. I'd be terrified to get anything more than a checkup here. read more

Called this morning to set up a dental appointment! Looking for a new dentist. The receptionist told me to call back when I verify that I'm calling the right address on the living social voucher. Who does that?? I told her let's just set up the appointment and if I have the wrong address then I'll call back. Apparently they don't have any morning appointments til close to October, but I didn't believe her based on her customer service skills. Was so turned off that I'm going to refund the voucher and go pay my CASH MONEY to another dentist. Horrible first impression!! read more

Very good experience getting a new tooth for an implant. Dentist is very gentle and competent.

I'll steal Yelp's description of what two stars means and simply say "Meh, I've experienced better." First time to this dentist and I saw Dr. D'Arco. After receiving a confirmation text for my appointment that mistakenly called me Evan instead of Kevin, I figured I'd correct that quickly when I got to the office. But, as other reviewers have said, everything is quick and to the point in the office, with no real niceties, and I was never asked my name or even really told hello. The receptionist was on the phone and after I stood there at the counter for a couple of minutes listening to what seemed to be personal chit chat, another woman (1 of 2 women sitting right behind the receptionist not really doing anything) gave me the new patient forms and I was on my way to filling them out. They saw me quickly, right after I was done with the paperwork, and right on time. As mentioned in other reviews, the hygienist was all business, not saying hello or introducing herself, and not having any small talk that I'm accustomed to. It was all "look away, open wide, close a bit" and other commands. She was thorough in the cleaning though so high scores for that. I might have just brushed it all off as being because I'm still adjusting from my transplantation from CA to NYC, and noticing the definite difference (or lack thereof) of customer service in NYC, but I've been to another dentist in the area and they were just as welcoming and hospitable as my dentist back in CA. So this dentist office could definitely work on being friendlier. After the clean, Dr. D'Arco examined me. He was very thorough as well and, while quick, I could tell he knew his stuff and checked everything of importance. So in summary - great skills, poor rapport. If you're used to going to the dentist and have no problems seeing one, this dentist will get done what's needed. If you're a little tentative about visiting the dentist, I'd say look for one that's able to warm you up to them so that it doesn't seem like you're treated as if it were a 30 minute oil change. read more

I usually use ZocDoc for all my heathcare needs but I had to search via the list provided by my employer. I found this on the national database for my dental insurance. I didn't do much research because I hate the dentist either way. So I made an appointment and went and was pleasantly surprised by how convenient (right off the Union St. R stop) and nice it was inside their offices. Each time I've been here, they have been right on time with appointments. Their staff very nicely explains what fees are not covered for future procedures before you book those procedures. The waiting room is clean, staff is nice, bathroom is clean, everything is very orderly and each room has a tv in it so you can watch while having your teeth worked on. My first time here they gave me an awesome swag bag: a calendar magnet for 2013, a very nice Colgate toothbrush with their name on it, mini toothpaste, and mini floss. It was pretty awesome. And though dorky, I was very excited about it. No need to worry about having a 2nd toothbrush or toothpaste for away trips! read more

Normally I'd want more than just one review on Yelp to make a decision, but this was the only dental office covered by my insurance in the area that was accepting new patients, so I took a chance. Glad I did, I had a great experience. I've had some bad experiences with dentists who either didn't care or were too focused on upselling me on procedures I didn't need that my insurance wouldn't cover. I dread having to find a new dentist. I only went in for a cleaning but the staff was great, the cleaning was gentle yet still incredibly thorough. Dr. Tehrani was a nice guy, I'm very pleased with this find and will absolutely be going back again. Good location, clean office, great staff, I recommend. read more

So, I haven't been to the dentist for quite a few years. Some factors include not having health insurance, not being able to find a dentist who could take my insurance once I had it and me being sick with cancer so going to yet another doctor was terrifying to me. It must have been in my stars yesterday to stop by the office and Francis was so kind and also involved in trying to find out if they took my insurance. She is extremely efficient and applied herself in helping me. Lo and behold, they did! So on the spot I decided to make an appointment for my son and myself and they were able to take me the next day. Mind you, I don't think my 10 year old even remembers when he went to the dentist last so he was a little apprehensive about going. Turned out, easy, breezy. No cavities, was just told to maybe floss more which suspect they tell every little boy that. I went in, very apologetic as I was scared of what they might find. Everyone was understanding and I didn't get any kind of lecture from not going in so long. Sometimes, getting X-rays really can be uncomfortable but Kim was in and out, without it being grueling. She was equally as quick and gentle with the cleaning, I was joking that I should send her flowers for her work! Turns out all I needed was two cavities to be replaced and when Dr. Tehrani saw me he told me he had time to do them right then and there! Talk about convenient. He took about 35 minutes, was gentle and talked me through everything. Then sent me on my way. I would highly recommend this office to anyone. I had years of braces, been to a ton of doctors in the past but this was my best experience at a dentist EVER. I don't think I will wait so long now to go again ;) read more

I usually dread going to the dentist, but I've been going to Park Slope Dentistry since I moved to Brooklyn a few years ago. Dr. D'arco is extremely professional and really knows his stuff (and he's quite easy on the eyes!) - he's a little curt but definitely makes up for it with his expertise. Dr. Tehrani is also very knowledgeable and is extremely kind and friendly. I was worried about getting a procedure done but he sat down and talked me through every aspect of it. The front desk staff is also very helpful - shoutout to Kelsey (great name) who quickly smoothed out any issues with my insurance and to Danielle who is AWESOME! Just moved to Park Slope and needed to find a dentist that accepted my dental plan. These guys did. I met with Dr. Tehrani and he was very nice and gentile. None of this guilt trip dentistry. The assistants were all very kind and gentile, but really got in there with the cleaning. They used some sort of high powered water jet (as opposed to just metal scrapers). Teeth feel great. They also made me a night guard. I had no cavities, which was pleasant news and it also means that they weren't trying to scam me for cavity dollars. They said I may have one forming, but it's best just to keep an eye on it for now. I know it's hard to find a dentist in a new area, but seriously check these guys out. read more

Fantastic Dental Office! Here goes a horror story gone right...my teeth are horrible, some say it's genetics, but who really knows. My molars started cracking and falling apart in August 2017 and the office that I went to in desperation sadly charged thousands of dollars and completely took advantage of the pain and suffering I was experiencing due to the cracks. They started two root canals, an extraction, and then kept pushing extra services that were mostly cosmetic. During this process the technicians would openly insult the color of my gums as well as other parts of my mouth telling me that I need to fix it in order to be beautiful. Turns out the discoloration is due to the radiation therapy and other treatments that I have had in the past. This made me feel absolutely terrible about myself. I left needing the two root canals to be completed Luckily, Dr. Tehrani was recommended by a family friend. The moment I stepped into the office I knew that my experience would be much improved compared to the last one. The reception is inviting, so kind, and super helpful with insurance matters/payment. Danielle- YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Dr. Tehrani is the most gentle, patient, and considerate dentist that I have ever met. He doesn't demean or tease people with anxiety, in fact I feel that he goes out of his way to be as calm as informative as possible. He assess a situation and does everything in his power to solve it in the most comfortable manner. I purchased an amazon local deal in 2013 for a cleaning and xray and decided to go to Park Slope Dentistry because it was somewhat close to my apartment. The place looked okay and clean when I went in, but after my teeth cleaning and examination, I was told that I was going to need a lot of work done in my mouth, including 8 or 9 cavities filled and most likely a crown or two! Now, I had only gotten one cavity since then in my thirty-year life so I was very skeptical that this work was actually necessary! Since then, I have been to my family dentist back in my hometown and have now been told I actually have one small cavity and that is all! I am shocked about what I was told at Park Slope Dentistry and hope this review will sway any others from going and getting tricked into paying them for unnecessary work!!! read more

Biggest issue: If you do not like mercury fillings( silver amalgams), don't go here. Dr. Tehrani will inform you he "tries to talk people out of composite fillings" (except if they are in the front) and in fact thinks the mercury fillings are superior, which is actually a controversial assertion now(in some European countries they are banned), and many dentists don't do "amalgam" fillings because of the any risk involved to the patient's health, to say nothing of the damage to mother earth through the use of this environmental toxin. He seemed disrepectful of any other opinion, to the extent one could not really have an informed conversation, so I did not attempt one. The hygienist was also extremely brusque and--she seemed to not pay attention ( or at least not acknowledge having heard me) when I mentioned some sensitivities due to recent work. They were playing really loud "people's court" and "divorce court" in the chair, so I listened to people argue too, while in the chair--not relaxing! i had to ask the doctor to turn it off, bc it did not occur to him to do so when discussing my mouth with me after he came in the room. Also, there one of those places that charge $50 cancellation fee - be warned. read more

I had my first visit 1/27/11 and I was cautiously optimistic about this visit. It's always nerve racking to find a new doctor in this city and I feel like a dentist is just as bad. I found this office through my insurance and checked out the reviews on yelp. With only 3 reviews, I took a chance. The office is in a great location on President St, right next to the subway (R Train). There was a massive storm the night before, and it was still an easy commute and they were open on time. The reception area is clean and comfortable. This is a no nonsense type of NY doctors office. The receptionist got right down to business when I walked in, no niceties..."What's ya name, lemme see your insurance card, sit down and fill out the paperwork." I don't even think she took a second to look up at me. But hey, you can't expect much more than that in the city. The dental hygienist was all business as well. She came in, said "Hi", got to work, did a great job, and was done in less than 30 min. I saw Dr. D'Arco. Young guy, pleasant. He was a little rough, pulling and pinching my bottom lip a lot, which I thought was unnecessary. My last dentist was never that rough. He took a look around for 5-7 minutes, and that was that. All in all, I'd recommend them to someone in Brooklyn who lives nearby or can take the R train easily. If your teeth are in good shape, you only have to see them every 6 months, so I think it's worth it. read more

I have been a patient here for 3 years and see both dr.d'arco and dr.tehrani. i get appointments when i need them and there are never any surprises when the bill comes! i used to work in the area so it was convenient to go there but since being relocated to new jersey i have not found a practice that is as professional so i travel there twice a year. i highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Dr. Tehani is about average. He does decent work but does not explain very well what he's doing or why. I have had a persistent issue with one tooth and he pretty dismissively told me there was nothing I could do about it. I've since located a different dentist who was much more patient and took the time to explain the issue to me. He's fine but not great. read more

Been walking past their office since they opened up - finally got dental insurance so I gave them a try. Dr. D'Arco is great, straight forward, friendly and did a great job - I had a tooth extracted and an exam. The whole office is very friendly, just what you'd expect in Brooklyn. I hadn't been to a dentist in a couple of years, so took advantage of an Amazon local coupon for a cleaning, x-rays and check-up. I had done this once before at another dental office, so was expecting to get a sub par cleaning and up-sold on teeth whitening. I could not have been more wrong. The hygienist gave me the best cleaning I can remember ever receiving. She was thorough, gentle and meticulous. The dentist, Dr. D'arco, was polite, prompt and thorough in his exam. He did not try to get me to get caps (even though some of my teeth are chipping) nor did he push a whitening regimen (though my teeth could most definitely use it). My experience here was an A+, and now, even without dental insurance, I will be returning annually for as long as I live in the area. read more

I had a root canal at this office and have been having pain since. I have recently learned that they had botched my tooth and that the tooth was decaying from the inside out. In addition, during the actual root canal, they injected the anathesia into my cheek which caused double vision. It was only after I told the dentist multiple times that he had obviously missed the nerve that they gave me another injection. Please, don't go to these guys. They are insensitive and sloppy in their work. You will regret it. read more

I just had my first root canal, and boy was it a surprise. I had been in pain for a few days after another dentist did a "very minor" cavity filling which killed the nerve in my tooth. I called the office this morning and was seen by Dr D'Arco the same day. He is really good at his job - the shots were painless, and the root canal itself was far better than some fillings I've had. It's a big relief to be out of pain. I've also seen Dr Tehrani back when I had insurance they accepted, and he was great too. Both doctors and the wonderful receptionist took lots of time to answer all my questions, giving me detailed explanations and options. I am now switching to this dentist, even though it's not on the list of dentists for my (bad) dental insurance through work. Also, on a side note, I like that their office is clean and that they use an electronic record so there is no danger of them losing your chart and x rays, which also happened to me somewhere else. read more
