Allow me to describe a day at the dentist. I arrive at the office of Leaf Dental and am greeted with a bottle of Poland Spring water. Everyone at reception says "Hello, Harvey." Why is this important? The two most important words in the English language are your name. I am the only one in the waiting room. Why is this important? Leaf does not overbook. I am taken on time, so punctually that I do not have time to check out either of the two large and modern lavatories. Later, Nadia, Stephanie or Victoria will take care of the insurance forms. If a cleaning is in order, Amy will remove those stains from coffee and tea and make my breath kissing sweet. I am escorted to the dental chair by Monica or Jasmine, who will be responsible for handing Dr. Eugene Goldman a probe, a burnisher, a scaler, a spoon excavator, and other tools. Monica asks what TV channel I would like while the procedure is on. I am a tax-and-spend liberal so request CNN or MSNBC. If the former president is lying, I cup my ears and examine my x-ray. I forego the anesthetic because for some reason Dr. Goldman is able to drill without causing pain--at least to me. You may be different. If he opines that I need a root canal, he will refer me to an endodontist. If an implant, off to the periodontist. I have had experiences with both. In my next life I will take better care. I am done! A day of excitement passes but, ironically and thankfully, the procedure is without drama. Dr. Goldman makes me smile, which is what dentists nowadays are pledged to enhance, because in America, every day is a smiling day. I make him laugh. Why is that important? I had a small chip in my front tooth which I went to Leaf to fix. The dentist replaced the chip and filed away a little more of my tooth. The chip repair bonding fell off at day 8 without any pressure on it at the time. I went back, and they took me fairly fast. The dentist TODAY fixed the chip again, filing away a lot more (which I didn't know). 5 hours later the repair has fallen out, and I find that he decided to 'created a bigger bond' by filing away more of my front tooth, thinning it out twice as far as the original crack. 5 hours. It fell out when I was brushing my teeth for the night. I will not be going back, and I this point I feel the dentist is not qualified to do this procedure. read more

A longtime dentist hater/avoider, Leaf Dental has totally changed the game for me. Dr. Hirayama is excellent, and her team is thorough yet gentle during cleanings. They are efficient but do not rush, and I've never waited more than 5 minutes to go back for my appointment. If something more than a cleaning is needed, the office checks on insurance for you so there are no surprises on any costs, and they make sure all options are reviewed and discussed so you can make an informed decision. The office itself is very nice, and they have TVs you can watch during cleanings. I have seen other dentists in NYC and nothing compares to Leaf -- highly recommend. read more

This is a little late, but I figured I would wait until I was finished with all my necessary treatments before writing this, although I was very pleased after my first visit. I initially went to Leaf Dental just for a cleaning, since it had been years since I had done so. I used to go to a local community dentist office and comparing the two is almost like comparing apples to oranges. From the friendliness of the front desk staff, to the skill of the dental hygienist Amy, and to the knowledge and bedside manner of Dr. Goldman, I was blown away by the entire patient experience, and that's a terrific quality to strive for in any aspect of healthcare. Throughout the cleaning, Amy provided me with proper education on dental hygiene and maintenance through visual and hands-on examples and even explained to me the process of the cleaning as she was going through each part. I found it very helpful and important as it offers me, the patient, to feel more involved in my own care. When I met Dr. Goldman after the cleaning, I almost expected him, like dentists I've met in the past, to just greet me and leave, but he sat down, pulled up my X-rays, and meticulously discussed the current state of my teeth and explained to me a detailed plan going forward in future visits. After all that, I was given a goodie bag with handy travel-sized dental care items, such as toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash, to take with me - definitely a plus! Making a follow-up appointment was also a breeze with Stephanie. If my memory served me right, I usually forgot or never made follow-up appointments in my past simply because cleanings were often so far apart or the schedule was entirely booked. However, at Leaf Dental, it was easy to do so, there was flexibility in scheduling, and most importantly, timely e-mail reminders regarding my next appointment. After two more visits to get my cavities taken care of and a night guard made for me, I can say that the efficiency and service of the first visit was not an incident where all the stars simply aligned perfectly, rather, it is something that the office has perfected and continues to maintain. The comedic banter between Dr. Goldman and his assistant, Monika, is also a huge plus. Ultimately, I will be back in the future for sure. read more

I'm not sure why Dr. Natalie Hirayama moved to New York from Vancouver, Canada's most breathtaking city. I suspect, though, that she altered her venue to practice her awesome skills at Leaf Dental, one of our town's most prestigious centers of smiles. Despite her crowded schedule, she stayed an hour overtime to begin treating my uprooted crown on tooth #9. Dr. Hirayama's personality is as lively and delightful as her talent for the disorders of the buccal cavity. She used Leaf's comprehensive imaging tools to show me the extent of the damage, then went to work to cement the rebellious prosthetic back to its oral site, readying me for a fun trip to the periodontist for an abutment. I have a mouth full of dental work and sensitive teeth, and I'm always a bit terrified of cleanings and check ups. I had my first appointment at Leaf Dental today, and I saw Linda, Sherry and Dr. Rafiq - it was a fantastic experience, start to finish. The space is calm and welcoming, and the team that worked on me was very understanding of my nerves, careful and gentle. Plus, completely effective. Stains on old dental work are gone, and they even replaced a lost composite filling within my appointment time. So this review has been a whole year in the making. and seeing how I've now been here for two 6-month visits I figure its time for a good ol' review... Leaf Dental is an exceptional office. Seriously - I really cannot say enough good things about the staff and experience. My last dental experience - at another office in BK - was horrible. Leaf Dental is so far from - an easy breezy experience from beginning to end. Setting up an appointment is so easy - you can register right from their website and wait for a confirmation. There were plenty of appointments open for Dr. Goldman and I was able to get in for a check-up within a couple weeks. Comfort greets you as soon as you walk in the door at Leaf. Warm interior with cushy over-sized chairs. Behind the counter are the nicest staffers. The first time I walked six months ago they welcomed me by name. Sure I might have been the only Alyssa coming in for a 4:30 appointment - but seeing as how it was my first ever visit - its still nice to be welcomed by name. I was given a mini bottle of water and told that the hygienist would be out soon to get me. There are ipads available for use while you wait... although I don't think you'll be waiting long. After checking in with reception, I had barely taken off my coat and my name was called. The exam rooms are just as nice as the waiting area. They're clean, cool and modernly designed with white walls and light wood tones. There's also a TV in each exam room! As soon as you get settled in the chair the hygienist passes a remote with listing. Having something to watch while you're getting plaque scrapped off your teeth is a beautiful distraction. After the cleaning by either Amy or Monica, Dr. Goldman takes a look, asks if you have any questions or concerns and you're done. If you have to get xrays taken - the Doc will put them up on the tv screen and point out any trouble areas (if any). It was actually pretty cool to see my pearly whites on the big screen. Both the Dr and hygienist do a great job at reminding you about flossing techniques and how long you should swish around mouthwash for without it sounding like a lecture and send you home w/ a goodie bag including a shiny new toothbrush, and travel size toothpaste, mouthwash and floss. Back out front the staff gets you set up for an appointment in 6 months. When I arrived for my most recent appointment I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything was just as lovely as the first visit to the office. Soooo glad I found this dental office. read more

Went in during covid, I got there early and entered the waiting room on the hour for my appointment. They sat me in the waiting room for 40 minutes past my appointment time. So my appointment was delayed for almost an hour, no one even spoke to me about what was happening until 30 minutes into my wait, even then they gave me wrong information. Two people who arrived and were checked in later than I was were served at their appointment times. I finally had to leave without seeing the dentist. I can't believe how unprofessional this visit was. I have experienced lateness there in the past but nothing like this. I'm not sure what was going on but it certainly merits a bad review. Now I guess I have to find a new dentist. read more

I stopped going to them after they told me I needed to get two fillings which came as a surprise to me after getting clean bills of health for the last several visits. The amount they charged for this was about 3x more than a filling a should have cost. It all turned out okay for this reviewer, in the end, because I simply ignored it. Six months later, I went to another dentist and guess what? Either the cavities healed on their own, by some miracle or these dudes are straight up crooks. My insurance dropped them (probably for their dodgy practices) anyway, and so should yours. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now to see Dr. Goldman, and always love my visits. It's really hard to find a good dentist, especially in NYC. So many offices have outdated equipment or make the experience less than pleasant, but both the staff (all the hygienists, Stephanie who handles appointments, etc.) and facilities at Leaf Dental are excellent. In addition to routine procedures (and crowns!), Dr. Goldman is skilled at cosmetic dentistry--he has a good eye, is a perfectionist, and has a thorough understanding of any down-the-road considerations that other dentists have skipped over in the past. Regarding any concerns with visiting them during covid, they're taking a number of consistent precautions in the office, including hepa filters, staggered appointments, temperature checks, hand sanitizer, and more. My first experience at Leaf Dental was nothing but great. I met with Dr. Eugene Goldman first. He was very knowledgeable and made sure whatever he was checking was in full detail. Dr. Goldman was thorough with my check up and I was very happy with that. After Dr. Goldman was done with my check up enters the hygienist, Amy. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about her. In my opinion, she went above and beyond with my teeth cleaning. She was so gentle and did a wonderful job. At my past dentist experiences they will only do it once and quickly but Amy wasn't that. She took her time and went over it again after the first time to double check. My teeth felt so clean that I didn't want to eat or drink anything to ruin it. Overall, if you are looking for a new dentist office and wants nothing but the best then Leaf Dental is for you. I would recommend it to everyone . read more

This dental office is the best I've ever been to (and that includes the suburbs of Boston, not just New York!). It's clean, it's efficient, and the staff is unbelievably friendly. Make an appointment on their website through ZocDoc. You will have the chance to "check in" online and they'll send you reminders the week before and the day before. Once you check in online, visiting the office is a breeze. The attendants will recognize you, provide you with a bottle of water, and the wait time is always minimal (they actually called me an hour before to tell me they were running ahead of schedule. I arrived 15 minutes early for my original appointment and they took me within two minutes). Each room has a TV and you are free to program the channel to your choosing. Dr. Goldman will check in with you before your cleaning and he's incredibly friendly and lovely to talk to. The attendants who do the cleaning are always thorough and gentle. They give you a goodie bag of floss, toothpaste, mouthwash, and a toothbrush at the end. Checking out is a breeze, you can schedule another appt at the desk and be on your way. HIGHLY recommend this dental office. I won't go anywhere else! read more

Had a wonderful initial consultation and cleaning with Dr. Kim! Everyone was super friendly and really put me at ease with their great attitudes and professionalism. The office and equipment is clean and modern - one thing that stood out for me was that they used an in-mouth camera hooked up to the big screen TV for pointing out details which I thought was was quite effective. I have not been to the dentist in FOREVER. After seeing what great results my boyfriend received from this facility, I decided to bite the bullet and make an appointment. The appointment process was really simple. They even went as far as to send emails and texts to my phone reminding me of my upcoming appointment. My experience with Dr. Goldman was nothing less than exceptional. He was very thorough in explaining what exactly was going on, and was more than willing to answer any questions I had. The hygienist, Amy, was wonderful as well. She did an AMAZING job cleaning my teeth (which haven't been cleaned in I don't even know how long.) She also went through how to brush and floss properly. In the past, I've definitely had terrible experiences with other dentists/hygienists who didn't care about your experience, or seeing you ever again. However, that was certainly not the case with the Leaf Dental team. I definitely felt welcome, and appreciated for coming in. They treat you as a valued patient, not just another name. I had a cleaning and check-up at Leaf Dental yesterday, and it was amazing! As other reviewers have noted, the space is beautiful -- spacious, clean, and modern. (One small thing I noticed is that the headrests on the dental chairs are really soft! I almost fell asleep during my cleaning.) I came in for my 3 pm appointment and was soon escorted to one of the rooms. Each room has a large flat-panel TV, and Monica, a dental assistant, asked me what I wanted to watch. (For lack of anything better to watch, I landed on an episode of The Steve Harvey Show entitled "What Do Men Really Think?") I had x-rays done -- the electronic type that instantly uploads to a computer. Then, Dr. Goldman (who is extremely nice) came in and examined my teeth for a bit. He took pictures of my mouth with a fancy-looking instrument. What came next impressed me most. Dr. Goldman displayed my x-rays and pictures on the TV (sadly interrupting Steve Harvey) and walked me through what they showed. He explained how dentists identify dentin, enamel, and cavities in x-rays and he told me that from my pictures it was clear I grind my teeth badly at night (I had no idea!). Then I had my cleaning done by Amy, a hygienist. I'm used to just laying back in silence while my teeth are being cleaned, but Amy surprised me by talking a lot during the cleaning. Which was actually great! She commented (politely) on the state of my teeth and offered useful tips about flossing and brushing. She also explained some things about tartar and its porousness, the build-up of minerals between the teeth due to saliva, etc. Perhaps I should have known some of these things before, but I learned a lot. After my cleaning, when I told her I have a Sonicare at home, she even brought out some model teeth and a Sonicare brush to show me how to use Sonicare in particular properly. Anyway, overall, an amazing first visit! Everyone was super nice, and I came away knowing a lot more about dental hygiene. And my teeth feel really clean right now, too! I'll be back at Leaf for my first medical check-up there. If it's even half as pleasant as my dental visit, I'll be very pleased! read more

First off, scheduling an appointment and filling up paperwork at the front desk was a breeze as staff was friendly and accommodating. The facility is modern and clean, with updated hi-tech dental equipment. When I was seated, I was offered a blanket, water, and a remote for the tv!! It's like a spa for your teeth haha. I was getting impressions done for my teeth, so my check-up with Dr. Goldman was quick, but overall, the whole procedure with him and the nurse who did my impressions was very comfortable. After moving from Hawaii and searching for a clinic around Brooklyn, I think I found my new replacement for dental needs! read more

Leaf dental is one of a kind and hands down THE BEST group of dental professionals you can possibly find in all of NYC, if not all of NY. Pre covid, my appointments ALWAYS started on time. Post Covid, even with all the precautions in place, (temperature check, hand sanitizer, intake covid questionnaire, and more hand sanitizer), I was still seated on time. They've got numerous gigantic air filters in the lobby and in the operatories. Everyone was SUPER friendly, accommodating, and professional at the same time. My appointment also ended ON TIME and I was treated to a hot lavender towel to freshen up! From check in to check out, I've only been impressed and impressed over and over again. They have the latest technology so my xrays were easy breezy. You will never be left wondering how any of your fillings look like because they show you with pictures! MIND BLOWN!!! Oh, and I can't forget the goodie bag. I got a toothbrush color of my choice, some floss, a mouthwash, a chapstick, and a free reusable face mask! read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I am compelled to share my experience with Dr. Goldman. I am one of those patients who are very afraid of the dentist, and it takes a lot for me to trust one. From the first time I met Dr. Goldman, I found him to be professional and trustworthy, with a great sense of humor. He has a great bedside manner, which is very important with apprehensive patients. Dr. Goldman performed a very thorough exam, he took his time to explain to me as well as show me all the problems I had with my teeth. Treatment was absolutely pain free!! I am so lucky to find him! BEWARE of commissions. I had a great experience there, the cleaners were nice and thorough, and the dentist was knowledgeable. However, the dentist told me that I needed ten (10!) cavity fillings and it would cost $3,300. I went to another dentist for a second opinion, and reputable one, and she looked at Leaf Dental x-rays and said she absolutely could not understand why they were filling six (6) of those fillings. She is going to do four (4) of them. She said that these places run on commission so the more fillings they fill, the more money they get! I like this place, but beware of over-charging!! read more
