My first time trying a new dental office in years since I have a new insurance. Had a friend who came to this dental office and had a great experience so I thought I'd give it a try. Called to see if they accepted my insurance and they did and easily scheduled an appointment. Got to the office and to my surprise, the waiting area is empty! If you have been to any medical offices in chinatown, you would now it is packed all the time. Didn't even have to wait and was seen right away as scheduled. There was a dental assistant who took all my x-rays and if it is your first time, there is a lot! She was very nice and understanding and informed me that if I needed a break from the x-rays to let her know. After the x-rays, I was seen by Dr. Song. Dr. Song was amazing! He performed a gum analysis, oral and neck cancer screening that was touching the inside and outside of my mouth and the sides of my neck, and the tongue. Such thorough examinations for the first visit and worth the time for the examination and cleaning. Love that they gave goggles for me to wear because water always splatters for cleaning. Overall, an amazing experience and look forward to my future visits for my bi-annual cleanings. read more

I decided to try Bowery Dental after my best friend went last month. She had a wonderful experience with her teeth cleaning, the office and Dr. Tran, and efficiency. She came back with a goodie bag filled with floss, a toothbrush, mouthwash, toothpaste, and mouth spray. She was very satisfied with her visit and the clarity on billing. My visit today was very on time, the staff and Dr. Ong was very nice and thorough. Dr. Ong was super gentle and explained her findings very thoroughly. I am extremely satisfied with my visit and will continue my dental care here. However, I was a little disappointed I didn't get a goodie bag at the end of my visit since it's my first time. I made an appointment here after finding these reviews on Yelp, so it only feels fair to leave one confirming that all the five-stars are accurate! I had an urgent wisdom tooth situation and got a last minute appointment with Dr. Tran after a bad / rude consultation elsewhere in the city. Dr. Tran was immediately friendly, patient and transparent; she answered my questions about the process thoroughly and made sure I had a pain-management prescription and aftercare instructions all in hand BEFORE she actually pulled the tooth. The extraction itself was quick and painless. She did an expert job (and managed my extreme anxiety gracefully); I'm now day 3 post-op and haven't even experienced face or tooth soreness or bruising for a moment. It's like nothing happened. My wife and I brought our daughter to the dentist yesterday. We were very nervous. iIt was her very first ever dental visit and we didn't know how she would react. Once we got walked in the doors, we were greeted by the friendly staff and receptionist, and our fears and nervousness dissipated. Bowery Dental treated us like family. The staff patiently and thoroughly explained all the details and procedures to us. Soon after, my daughter was so excited and couldn't wait to have her teeth checked. Once we filled out all the forms, we were brought in to a room where our daughter saw Dr. Lee. The TV in the room was turned on to my daughter's favorite TV show. She was given a mirror to see the progress of getting her teeth cleaned. Dr. Lee was also very friendly toward us and to our daughter. Throughout the entire procedure, I didn't sense my daughter be sacred or anything. The entire dental appointment went as smoothly as it could. After moving back to New York City, I have been looking for a primary dentist here, and had recently stumbled upon this place through a recommendation from a friend. The moment that I set foot into the office, I was greeted with a warm smile and welcome from the staff especially from Eddie, the general manager. He was able to immaculately explain the fees and rates, insurance policies, and essentially any questions that I had with the sign-up process. During my check-up, Dr. Lee made me felt very comfortable due to her diligent care and the extra precautions she took because I had very sensitive teeth. She was very informative with the process and had provided excellent care for my teeth and gums. I thought the staff as a whole were absolutely fantastic, and it is clear that they truly enjoy providing an exceptional experience for their patients. I just has my biannual checkup again! First time seeing Dr. Ong but not much to comment since I only saw her for a few minutes. Polite and nice. Most of this review is for Angela the hygienist. New things to note Angela performed an oral and neck cancer screening which was touching the inside and outside of my mouth and sides of neck toake sure nothing feels weird. I'm going to assume this is another item covered by my insurance during biannual checkups but regardless I appreciate the service. I was also told in the beginning that my insurance covers flouride treatment too, so I got that at the end. It was a sticky white paste. Angela told me I can eat and drink after thirty minute. I'm glad I didn't and kept my mask on until I got home. I couldn't rinse out the sticky white stuff from my teeth - had to brush it out. Another thing to note is the orange goggles they provide. It's actually useful in blocking out the treatment light - way better than my own glasses. It was a better idea for me to wear that than my own glasses, unless you're skirmish about germs - I'm sure they're happy to sanitize it for you if you mind. They took new x-rays since the previous ones were more than a year old. I appreciate how Angela gave me a detailed status of my teeth (e.g. a chipped tooth and how my old fillings are) rather than just saying everything's fine and call it a day. Similar to last time, she would place a guaze pad inside your cheek before placing the suction tube. She notices when you have too much saliva or buildup of water. She pauses to let you close your mouth to let the suction tube capture the extra fluids. Of course there would be splatters and drooling. Angela noticed and helped wipe too. Forgot if it happened last time but Angela gave me some vaseline when she noticed my lips were dry in the beginning. Most important of all, I came out with an obviously brighter smile and no discomfort. Appreciate Angela's attentiveness and thoughtfulness and patience during the whole treatment. read more

From start to finish my routine cleaning and examination was a wonderful experience at Bowery Dental, and I simply had to share. Helen the hygienist started the show. She took her time to diligently check and clean my teeth, and I appreciated how she carefully explained each cleaning stage and paused for any questions. As a result of previous Invisalign treatment, my teeth have a special wire to restrict movement. Helen quickly identified this and took great care to avoid damage during the cleaning. She was also quite efficient at the x-ray process. Next up was Dr. Tram. After taking X-rays, Dr. Tram and Helen seamlessly worked together to review the results. Friendly and warm, Dr. Tram was still efficient in her examination and made clear insights and recommendations. For example, she informed me that I had a slight chip on my back tooth, likely due to normal wear and tear. While this could be a vulnerability that later results in a problem, Dr. Tram said she'd prefer to monitor first as there were no signs of decay. She recommended extra attention to this area while brushing and flossing. I appreciate that she did not immediately pursue treatment (after judging it was a stable and safe situation). As mentioned, the examination and cleaning went great. However, what really made Bowery Dental an exemplary experience was what happened afterwards. When I came home, I inspected my newly cleaned teeth in the mirror. To my horror, I noticed a tiny dark spot in the pit of my back molar. Immediately fearing the worst (a cavity that was somehow missed), I reached out to the Bowery Dental team via social media. I didn't expect a quick response as it was after hours on a weekend. But within hours, the team replied that they had got in touch with Dr. Le, she remembered that spot was an innocent pit stain, and all was well. I was in disbelief by the tremendous customer service. I switched to Bowery Dental after my previous dentist gave me an overlay that cracked twice within a short period of time. What I liked most about this practice that the practice manager/owner was very super accommodating in terms of scheduling and explained everything to me succinctly and clearly. In fact he was so accommodating during my crown placement that he encouraged me to go downstairs and get something to eat before the procedure as I would be numb and disheveled afterward! This is the kind of thoughtful customer service that I experience at Bowery Dental. He made me feel at ease and is easy to talk to, as well as the dentist there, Dr. Sheryl Lee, who I found to be knowledgeable and trustworthy with remarkable bedside manner. The practice is extremely clean (important for me) with flexible hours with evening and weekend hours -- even on sundays. The dental assistants and other staff are professional and a pleasure to be around. The location is convenient as I live in Brooklyn and the practice is right over the manhattan bridge. I am more than satisfied with services rendered and feel that they run a clean, friendly, flexible, and efficient practice. I came here to get my teeth cleaned for the first time in at least 10 yrs. I was nervous, and thought that I would be very uncomfortable, but everybody there was very welcoming, and kind, from the front desk, to the assistant who took my X-rays to the dentist herself. They were all friendly. I didn't have to wait at all for my appointment, and they got me out of there more quickly than I had thought. My teeth were not in great shape but they didn't make me feel ashamed or anything. They taught me how to be better and sent me on my way. After seeing the same family dentist for all my life I finally decided to make the change over to Bowery Dental. It was easily the best decision I could have made for my dental health. My previous dentist was not nearly as thorough and concise about my teeth/gums' condition and how to move forward treating them in order to keep them healthy! Dr. Lee was amazing at explaining how to properly take care of my mouth in order to prevent disease/ hereditary conditions. I had a wisdom tooth extraction that was made seamless due to the way the operation was executed. I felt no pain during and even after the extraction which is just a testament to how great Dr. Lee is (cheeks did not swell up and I did not need any pain medication). The staff overall is incredible & friendly, which makes you feel at home and actually look forward to visit! Eddie and the rest of the staff have amazing personalities as well which truly compliments the overall ambiance of the practice; making it appeal to all demographics. I went to Bowery Dental since it has so many good reviews, but my experience was a bit traumatic. I normally don't write reviews but I thought I should warn others and hopefully they can avoid a bad experience because I wouldn't want it to happen to other people. First of all, I can't say anything bad about the dentist that I saw since she didn't give me any bad advice or bad treatments. The office staff was very nice and friendly and the office was clean and pleasant. It was the dental hygienist that was very aggressive with the cleaning. At first, I thought maybe it's because she's trying to be as thorough as possible but after I went home and looked up if dental cleaning is painful, they said it shouldn't be unless if I have gum issues or tooth sensitivity (which I don't). I expressed that I was uncomfortable, but she didn't offer any numbing cream or ask me if I wanted to take a break. She kept going at her aggressive pace. I have never in my life experienced a cleaning anywhere near as painful as this one. All of my other cleanings didn't even hurt. I don't know how many hygienists they have and maybe it's just this one hygienist but beware and dental cleanings should NOT be painful unless if you have problems with your teeth and/or gums. Even then, they should be more conscious of your pain tolerance. read more

Terrible experience here overall! I went in to get a VERY simple procedure- just needed to get my crown cemented back in, and it fell out RIGHT away - the same day! This after they made me do a much more expensive full exam which was not necessary. They did find a small cavity and filled it so that was good, and they did cement my crown back in the next day.So when my bridge fell out two months later, I tried to make another appointment but they said it would be a MONTH! This after the prior appointment was the made for the next day. Obviously, they did not want to treat my problem because it's not a big money maker, they could not perform a full exam a mere 2 months after the prior one, though of course they had an obligation to do so. Hi, I rarely do reviews but have to show my appreciation for the staff and management team at Bowery Dental. I went to their office which is conveniently located in the heart of Chinatown through a referral from a friend and was happy with my initial visit. It didn't involve any work but a lengthy discussion about my options as I had a multitude of questions and concerns; both medically and financially as everyone's situation will be different. Eddie, who runs the office, kindly assisted with getting me better insurance within the week and that alone will have me coming back for all my dental concerns. The staff discussed and showed a genuine kind of care which was very informative and helpful in determining my future course of actions which was then expeditiously attended to. They fit me into a time slot that was based on my availability as they really do work with you and never made me feel rushed. I even had to reschedule one time and they were very accomodating. Emily and Fanny are wonderful and really good at their roles. June is awesome too. The office and equipment look brand new and properly sanitized. The upkeep at the facility is always on point. I've had the privilege of being seen by both, Dr. Sheryl Lee and Dr. Tram Le. I was open to any doc who was free and do trust in either's ability as I know they are both up to date on my case. They are great at what they do and extremely personable. I feel I can just hang out all day there if they allowed. Great family environment for a place that most people may dread going to but if you or anyone needs dental work done, check out the office and the people as I'm pretty sure you will feel the same. I used to think doc offices were a "dime a dozen" but feel this place seperates themselves from the pack that I am accustomed to. Really cozy sitting area with a nice view of Chinatown. Parking is tough but thats NYC's issue and strongly suggest mass transit as there are a lot of trains and buses that will lead you right up to the office. Good food and drinks are all around if you want to take full advantage of the area. There are cool magazines for sneakerheads or the standard material like other places while you wait along with good music/vibe. The experience is worth the novel-length review here but warranted as most places only worry about their bottom line which Bowery Dental redefines. Options discussed revolved around me and my financial situation which really helps everyone. From the person who buzzes you in, to the chair where you get down and dirty and then to a goody bag from Eddie on your way out with a full explanation of what was done is always reassuring as he has done this on each visit.
