Lovely location with many seating areas to enjoy the views. Listen to live music and order a wine tasting and charcuterie platter. A most relaxing afternoon! My favorite wine was the Pinot Grigio. What a great outing with friends or visiting relatives!!

I want to start off by saying that this place is absolutely beautiful. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars instead of one was because of the grounds. I was really hoping that this winery was going to live up to my expectations. I also do not typically leave reviews, but really felt led to because of the way we were treated. When we first arrived, we were so excited to see that the entire winery was Bavarian themed. We did arrive about 20 minutes before they were opening for the event started. We didn't attempt to order, and instead selected our table and were checking out the area. A woman who was not even working in the area we were in immediately came over and actually said, "this area is not good because we want to keep this quiet, you can sit on the other side" she pointed towards the bottom of the winery closer to the exit. There were about three or four of us in our group, and we thought it was extremely rude and odd. We were NOT loud, and there was literally no other customers in the room. There were empty tables and chairs everywhere. We wound up selecting the same table because it fit our party the best. The woman then came and told us that the table was reserved (even though there was no reserved sign on the table and we were told they do not take reservations when we called and inquired). I thought about leaving but, hey, this can turn around right? Nope. I am not one to complain, but I feel that the staff here had almost an elitist attitude. It did seem as though they were engaging and catering more with their members and not with us. As a woman of color, this did not go unnoticed. Not one time did someone stop by our table and ask how we were doing, ask if we were enjoying the event, ask if we wanted to become members, check in with us and ask if we would to come back, nothing. To be clear, it was raining so this place was not as packed as it probably would've been had it not been raining. There was plenty of event staff who could've came by our table and checked in with us if they wanted to do so. After a while, we decided to go to and scope out the grounds. There was an area that had a large group inside that was off from the main event area so we decided to check that out. It was much more laid-back in there and we would up finishing our time at the winery there. I am a member of four different wineries in the Willamette Valley and felt the wine was pretty average. The food was vendor type and pretty typical flair for an event of this size. My friend is German, and did say that the bratwurst we're not authentic, but it was good, and we didn't care. My advice for the owners is to talk to your staff about being inclusive. We shouldn't leave feeling like we were treated differently than others. We were very excited about this event, and I felt let down. Be nice, smile at your customers, be engaging. Wineries are a dime a dozen in our area. I definitely will not be back because of the way I was treated, but don't let other people feel the same way. Do better.

Beautiful winery that was a perfect venue for hosting a private event. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the drive thru the countryside to get there. The winery had plenty of parking for our group. The entry way, gathering area, deck and bathrooms were all clean. Nicely lit for an afternoon and early evening affair.

I am so so glad that I drove the 15 minutes required to get to be able to see the totality for the eclipse. We bought $20 tickets to a private event at this winery, and were given mimosas, pancakes, beautiful views, and the company of alpacas and goats! I would not have traded this for the world, because the landscape and views of the darkening sky were just enhanced and awe inspiring. The awesome experience to watch the animals react also made the event so worth it! The alpacas all bunched up as it got darker... So cool! Wouldn't trade those 25 seconds of the totality for anything either. Hands down the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life. The champagne in the mimosas was alright, but the two Rieslings were not quite sweet enough for my preference. That is unless I had the same Riesling twice - I tried to confirm with the lady in the shop if the sweet Riesling was the one being served outside, but she was a little too pushy in telling me that it wasn't. I feel like my husband and I were truly pushed into purchasing wine, when we really didn't want to. We were not offered tasters or anything, just were pretty much given a "no you have to buy 2 bottles with the 2 $5 off chips... yes it's sweet, buy this now, okay bye." Out of the whole experience, this was definitely the only negative. The other staff were very friendly, the site is just gorgeous, and there is definitely plenty of parking. You can go right up to the animals as well, which is pretty neat. I could see this being a beautiful spot for a wedding or other event.

Wine is holy. It's true! We drink it during church because we're emulating the Last Supper. Vineyards like this one are named after saints (and saintly owners, perhaps). And as you walk into the estate, there's a huge painting of a jolly drunken monk in is brown garb at the top of the stairs, happy to greet you. So, since we've now established that wine is possibly the nectar of the gods (or God), when you go wine tasting at St. Josef's Winery, you'll feel remarkably close to the divine with so much of it in your system. For a measly $5, you get a souvenir wine glass...and a taste of several different wines (read: eight or more), all made on the premise. The only thing for me is, after tasting so many wines with nothing to cleanse the palate in between, it was hard for me to decide which wines I liked best. I'm a Syrah fiend. While their Kitara Syrah had good flavor and kick to it, by the time I got that far in the wine tasting process (the vineyard's namesake Joe said we needed to go in a certain order, so that meant trying at least four or five different wines before getting to the Syrah), my mouth was dry and it was hard to drink. Oh, their reds are dry. I'd have to say that the winner from the bunch that we tried has to be the Gewurztraminer (try saying THAT five times fast), which was a nice, light, white, sweet dessert-ish wine. And, surprisingly, the bottles were quite affordable, too, ranging from $9 to $24. It was a pleasure to get to chat with Joe, who came to the United States from Germany, about his lifelong passion of winemaking with his family, the different varietals, and the nuances of each wine. The only thing was that the wine tasting room was quite small, and had the tendency to get pretty crowded. The estate grounds are gorgeous, and I went on a day that was quite dreary, so I can only imagine what it's like during the summer. There's a pond and graduated grassy grounds, a huge fountain, a nice deck for barbeques and the annual festival, and lots--and lots--of grape vines. So next time you're on your way to Silverton for a hike at Silver Falls, take an hour to stop and get blessed...with wine, that is.

We arrived a few minutes before our reserved time and decided to walk the property and take a few pictures. The views and grounds are stunning! We were greeted by Greg, who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history and wines. He allowed us to select where we wanted to be seated, we chose a shady spot on the patio. Greg shared that he had been with the family owned business for exactly 1 year the day that we were there! We told him he deserved a bottle of the reserve Pinot Noir as an anniversary gift, he was great and treated us so kind and never rushed us. We chose to try the Reserve Flight and a charcuterie board. The wine is delicious especially the last 2 Pinot Noirs on the reserved flight menu!! It was a perfect way to spend a Saturday and we will definitely be back! The only bummer is we did not get to meet the owner/family but Greg certainly made up for it.

I heard about it pretty close to the event and my friends I came with had heard of the winery before. I went in with no real expectations. I get around by cane and am a lot more mobile somedays than others. I cannot recommend this to anyone with mobility issues. I was able to get around a bit but the parking lot is gravel, there is a VERY epic hill one needs to hike up that is also gravel and steep and the grounds are very uneven throughout with rough stairs and such. Where they wanted most people to "sit" to picnic was a hill of gravel. The lawns are uneven. The space is gorgeous but again, this is a nightmare if you have any mobility challenges. I truly appreciate the thought given to everything here and I sincerely feel that they are just doing the wine as a means to fund their gardening and space which makes me clap and scream bravo. The space is gorgeous though i saw some of the website photos and some of the areas I think were better previously - they seem to keep adding gravel and I wish they would go with that old world feel they are trying and even do cobble or stone walks. Anything but gravel. Which brings me to the wine... I chose the rose and that is one of the first bottles of wine I genuinely found uncomfortable to drink. My friends said their Pinot Noir was just as awful. I noticed later that even the label is haphazard. It was shockingly bad and I am not a wine snob in the least. So, with all that... I say that is you want to experience a sort of rustic Spanish villa you stumbled on to definitely drop in. I am sure their tastings are maybe where is at for some but their tasting room has an incredible view of the grounds so that alone is probably worth the gravel trek in and $15.
