Finally stopped by to grab a few burritos. Cliff did not disappoint us! They're huge, filled with good ingredients and Cliff actually came out to greet us. My 20 year old daughter was blown away by that- as was I! I'm not sure why there are negative reviews when they'll gladly hear your complaints and make your order again. They're really nice people. We will be back and highly recommend you check them out too. The burritos are enormous too btw and I had a regular.

A Ground Beef Burrito just the way I like it ! And the price was just right !

One of the best burritos I have ever eaten in my life Juicy through the whole burrito

Chilaquiles

$13 for the chilaquiles? it was kinda skimpy! No rice or salad just beans. The taste wasn't the best either.

I have seen this little yellow and red building standing by its self on Alondra in the city of Compton for years but never stopped by to test the food.i was listening to the radio (102.3 FM KJLH) Stevie Wonder radio station and a commercial came on for Mr Cliffs mexican food with the 4.99. 4 chicken tacos and small drink I was in the area so I stopped and ordered I was greeted by a nice woman a sister,I was surprised the cooks all were Hispanic I was thinking I'd see all faces similar to mine but that's ok its good to know they have an equal opportunity work place.i glanced the menue the only other food item I was comfortable with the price was the all Beef 3 dollar Hotdog. Their signature Texas burrito starts at 17 dollars feeds about 3 people depending on appetite. While I was there Mr Cliff drove up and I told him i came because of the commercial he said thank you and that for mentioning the commercial I get a FREE DRINK of my juice. When I have extra money for sure I will be back I I recommend this place great food great service PS the chicken is all white meat breast

Food was horrible. I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito. It had no flavor, way to many beans and rice. No meat!

Greens & Black eyed peas (this time) I had not stepped foot inside this hidden gem until yesterday. But when I did...my nose was violently assaulted the the aroma of someone's "Big Momma's or Grandfather's" kitchen. The cozy, warm, aromatic atmosphere engulfed us like a warm quilt, as we walked in from the rain. The gentleman we passed outside by the door walked in behind us and welcomed us as if we were expected for Sunday dinner at Big Momma's House! No, that is NOT the name of this magical kitchen, but maybe it... No, it is even appropriately named. I dont know what the "R" stands for, maybe its a play on the Southern dialect, for "Our?" or does it stand for someone's name? I'm sure the meaning of the "R" has everything to do with why the meal I have become so overwhelmingly familiar with is so consistently "Smack a Momma" good. Now, I'm not a professional food critic. But, I know my way around a few pots and skillets. I'm just an average Kentucky-raised, over-60, consistently looking for a good meal when I get hungry, don't feel like cooking or understands when my wife doesn't feel like cooking either, type of guy. Being country bred, from country folk, from a 1 traffic light, 1 cop car, outhouses still on the side or back of the houses; everyone knows everyone kinda town. I don't look for a Michelin Star restaurants, I just want a good cooked meal. Food that has been kissed by the ancestors of whoever goes outta their way to put their creations out to the public with no shame in their game or plates. My wife actually turned me on to "R-Kitchen"- in Lakewood. Her and her friends were out a while ago and called me at home asking if I wanted to try this kitchen's cooking. After 5 wife deliveres plates (all the smothered turkey wings) throughout several months, I finally experienced the personal down-home touch and smells of Lakewood's R-Kitchen. I've promised myself to explore the entire menu by ordering something different on each visit going forward. So, stay tuned, as I work off my last meal to make room for the next. In the meantime, drop by this gem of a kitchen and don't leave without grabbing a slice of that Lemon Cake!!!! ssshhhh!... someone told me they have a Gumbo Day!!!!

This review is for the Paramount location. I got a few items: Dino rib, pork ribs, brisket, sausage, mac and cheese and corn bread. I'll start with the positives. The mac and cheese and corn bread were decent. Also they took 15 minutes to give me all the varied food I ordered which should have been my red flag to run, but I decided to live dangerously and was punished severely for it. Now on to the travesty, the meat. The theme for today was dry, old and shameless. The pork was somehow undercooked and dry. Which if you can endure the cruelty, is actually kind of impressive. The brisket resembled beef jerky. I'm including pictures of the brisket since those speak much more eloquently than I can. I love to cook and I infamously over season my dishes. But all these meats were at a whole another level. Not salty but aggressively peppery and just ham handed. The rub was flavorful but it blew out my palette instantly. Please take this to heart: less is more. In terms of meat quality? Cheap. My Dad is a butcher, I can tell. Everything being reheated did the meat quality no favors either. The seasoning was further exacerbated because the ribs, both dino and pork, were almost entirely bone. So you have a ton of seasoning on a lick of meat. It was a recipe for disaster. And price? Expensive, especially for what I received. Insulting for what I received. I'll end it here. I don't want to waste your time like this place wasted mine.

It was rich, flavorful, and actually tasted homemade. The BBQ was impressive, smoky, tender, and seasoned just right. I really enjoyed it. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor. They were out of Mac and cheese so I thought I would get Mac and cheese from Johnson's on my way home. I called them to ask if they took online orders and explained to the guy who answered that I had an electronic debit card as to explain why I asked . He said yes I could order online or over the phone . In the interim he gave the phone to some woman who kept me on hold so long that by the time she got back on the phone I had already ordered online. She confirmed my order but after hanging up I noticed the online app they use predicted a ridiculous amount of time to prepare the order (45 minutes). I was only 5 minutes away but stationary. So I called back and asked the lady how long it would take she said 15 minutes, I gave them 20 . When I got there and explained that I ordered online. Not only did I learn that the order wasn't ready but the guy at the window had the audacity to say if I had placed a phone order it would have been 15 minutes but otherwise they go by the app's time. And what his staff person told me when I called "was In error". How stupid is that? The whole premise of fast food is that it's fast. Secondly, you are willing to put online customers on the back burner based on an apps time and not real time? I looked at this man as if to say'Is that your final answer?" I don't see a line out here? Bruh it's your business, stand on it, I'm going to be about mine's. I had ordered extra food to support Black business, because remember I already had a plate in the car from Robert Earls. I pulled off and left without the food and didn't look back. Its bought sense for me. Buyer BEWARE.

His attitude was pleasant, and he had a genuine smile. Not one of those false demonstrations of civility. When you walk in, the smell of the food automatically turns you from hungry to excitedly starving. One of the keys to good food is the aroma from the kitchen. We were ushered to the back, Sunday Church pun intended. Our server got us wonderful drinks. Then we ordered our food, and when those soulful southern dishes arrived, it was the crown jewel of the experience. They looked as good as they tasted. We not only enjoyed the food, but Lonell came and chatted with us. He was genuinely concerned with the quality of our food and service, which was exceptional. On the way out, we asked for a picture and promised to come back whenever we are in the LA area. Please try this for yourself and post your favorite food.

When I inquired, I was told, yes, "Dinner" menus are also the weekend. Okie doke. Found out the "Muddy Water" drink on the menu is lemonade, sweet tea and berry juice. My friends and I decided to each order something different so we could sample many things. Chicken plate, salmon plate and meatloaf plate. Each plate came w/2 sides and a "hot water" cornbread muffin. We went with mac n cheese, cooked cabbaged, sweet potato, collard greens, string beans and mashed potatoes as our sides. I hadn't mentioned any reviews to my friends because I wanted their unbiased opinions. Food arrived, they dug in and I started taking pics. IYKYK! lol! Before I could set my phone down the first remark was, 'Wow! That's salty!' Wellllll...Thats what Yelpers had mentioned, but I couldn't believe it was THAT salty. Then I took a bite. Yes, indeed, salty. Everything, except the sweet potatoes was salty. Even the corn muffin was topped with a salty butter "wash". I think we all decided the salmon was the best. The sweet potatoes tasted sugary, which I honestly didn't mind cuz I got a sweet tooth. But my friends passed after a taste. The mac n cheese was good, but I just took a taste from the side to see if I wanted to order an extra side for the table. I didn't. My friend wasn't wild about the texture of her meatloaf. It looked like a hunk of dense cake, it was so finely ground. Not hand formed ground meat like we grew up eating. We skipped dessert and left some things behind. I plan on checking the reviews again before the year ends and see if comments are still talking about the salt content. I'll be back if the salt is reduced because the staff was very nice and attentive and this is a lovely space I hope will be successful for years. Cheers! "CC"
