I went there for the first time. I ordered a Taco Burrito. It was the nastiest burrito I've ever eaten!!!! This Burrito was made with Hamburger Patties with NO Favor; the meat was not cooked grounded up!!! Who makes ground beef Burritos like that!!!! It had very little cheese and the little cheese that was on there was not melted (you can barely taste the cheese it was such a small amount)! I had an after taste in my mouth after eating this item! My husband had the Chicken Fried steak breakfast with a side of waffle. It was nasty too....let's put it this way. He could only eat the waffles and eggs. I want to preface this by saying, there was no one else there. It was just us. The lady that took my order forgot about my second burger combo and had to yell at the cook to make another one. I didn't think much of it. Fast forward 15 minutes and I'm still waiting. Cool, they must be making it fresh, so I don't mind. Lady decides to help out other people while I'm there and they get their food pretty quickly. Whatever I kept waiting. Finally got the food and when I tell you it was the most bland burger I've ever eaten. It was missing something because it had no flavor. The fries were a combination of soggy and dry at the same time. The onion rings were bland and had no crunch, the batter was almost non-existent. Only saving grace was the dui fries but even then the cheese wasn't melted and only the pastrami was good. Save your money and go somewhere else. This location is amazing. There isn't anything they can't prepare for you. So many choices and the customer service is completely awesome. Why four stars? Honestly their food can be a bit salty. I ordered a turkey burger and it was a tab bit salty. I sort of expected that so that's why I ordered my fries with no salt. Unfortunately so much salt is used that the salt left over in the fryers caused my fries to be salty anyway. So I enjoyed the meal. The portions are awesome, the prices are reasonable and it's made fresh but I can't do the salt. I would definitely come back though. read more

Full disclosure, we only do Door Dash with this place ... so keep that in mind when reading this review, please These guys make a killer omelette! Seriously I have had most of the omelette offerings and I have not been let down yet, I would rank their omelets among the better ones in Long Beach. That said these people have yet to offer up eatable hash browns! Their hash browns have no flavor and are just barely cooked. So much so I have had hash browns from them that while they aren't crunchy raw, they still have that raw potato taste/aroma. I know they are just trying to get the food out quick, but I want the food cooked. But I gave up, I get the omelette the dog gets the hash browns! I would try going with fruit instead of has browns, but the always throw a sliver of melon in the meal ... it's raw too. As in not ripe! It's crunchy! My daughter ordered the cheeseburger special for 6.99 and I ordered the 3 Taco special that came with fries and a drink for 9.99 you can only choose chicken or beef which is carne asada.The lady there that took our order was the only one doing the phone orders drive thru and regular service. Not to mention that there were 2 cooks there as well. When she brought out our food presentation was ok other than the small portions of fries per order. My daughter's cheese wasn't even melted on her cheeseburger. My first bite of my taco was a big chunk of fat extremely disappointing and as I tried to eat the rest of my tacos I couldn't help but still be disappointed to get fat chuncks throughout the rest of my tacos. The meat tasted like it was just sitting in oil. My daughter and I were very disappointed and by this time customers were coming in more frequently than when we first got there. The lady came to our table to ask how was everything and I told her awful. I then proceeded to point to my plate and show her all the fat pieces from my taco she apologized and asked was there something else that she could get me and I said no in disgust. She said well I can go tell the cook but they are rude and disrespectful and they just opened a new pack of meat and I said well if they just opened it then there is no way that I should have this much fat in 3 tacos. She then grabbed a napkin that was on our table reached in my plate with the napkin and grabbed the fat to show the cook my thought was wtf did she just do what I think she did then I looked at my daughter who had another disappointing and dissatisfied look on her face. Then the lady said oh I'll go say something to them but the cooks are very rude and disrespectful when I say anything to them. I said don't worry I'll gladly say something. So she goes behind the counter and says the customer wants to talk to you about the tacos. One of the cooks chuey acted like he was concerned the other cook was real rude and walked away because he was already pissed from whatever the lady said to him. So when he comes back from the back he comes to the counter with a attitude and I said the tacos that I ordered were horrible and I had more fat in my tacos than meat he said with a attitude everything I open has fat I said well not that damn much smh. He then said if I had a problem with the food to contact the manager and I told him don't worry I will. The service overall was horrible but what took the cake is her taking the napkin digging in my plate without even asking me was I done or saying I'll be right back with another order. The rude cooks name was Victor very unprofessional rude and didn't take constructive criticism well at all. I will be phoning the manager in the morning to let him know of this horrible experience. I wouldn't recommend this spot at all it's a hard Nooooooo noooooo and hell naw for me ion care how good they deals are go elsewhere. I promise you'll regret it if you do. Side note I didn't get to take pics of the fat from my tacos because when I told her about it she instantly dug in my plate I was under the impression that she was going to just look but she took it out of my plate. I feel if you like Tams, Louis, Fantastic etc. (I like to believe it's the same ownership/relation almost, or business got transferred, as they used to be Del Amo Burgers back in the day and it was good) you will like this, as it's pretty much the same premise, and they are under a family owned name "Happy Boy", and the food is tasty, delicious, and it's bomb and really good. They have a very diverse and wide menu. Like whatever you are in the mood for comfort food wise, they are going to have. The burgers are good, however they are charbroiled classic style, and if you're someone that likes more thick/gourmet burgers like Fatburger style, this isn't the type of burgers they have. It's more charbroiled/grilled patties. The fries are also perfect. The employees are nice, and the service is nice. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, whatever you're in the mood for, they have. This review is for the woman who was working last night on 2/22 because she is a superstar! I do have to wonder why the business has only one person covering so many positions and also why they don't have anything self serve (not even napkins or utensils)... Anyway, I came here last night with a group of friends because we were watching a Muay Thai fight down the street and many people had the same idea. She was slammed. She was cashiering, delivering food, bussing tables, taking care of the drive-thru and even cooking food at one point. She seemed cool, calm and collected and was still able to check on the tables, bring us condiments, napkins etc. Me and my boyfriend split a meal and she even came out to make sure she didn't miss his order. That woman seriously deserves a raise. As for the food, the portions were enormous. One burger and order of zucchini fries was enough for me and my bf to split and that man can eat lol. Very rare for me to give just 1 star, but Happy Boy has earned that 1 star in my experience. I've been here four times in the past few months for lunch, and only because it is conveniently close to one of my work locations. I've had burgers, fries, breakfast, and a carne asada burrito on my trips there. The food itself is probably 2 stars; it's edible, but no way I could call the food "good". The portions are fair, and the prices are on par with other grill/burger/Mexican food places like this. For example, the burger/fries combo is about $10. The staff are okay, friendly enough. But the inside of the place could be cleaner. I've been in for a late lunch and found half the empty tables still need to be cleaned. The reason I knocked Happy Boy down to 1 star is that two times they got my order wrong. On my most recent visit there, I ordered a hamburger. No cheese. The woman taking my order even confirmed "no cheese". And of course when my food arrived at my table, the burger had cheese. So, despite the convenience, I will not be going back to Happy Boy. I gave them 4 tries, and all 4 tries led to disappointment. read more

My entry to happy boy grill was amazing, walking in I was greeted by trumpets and the sound of a Victorian Orchestra. Looking at the menu everything seemed appetizing, the aura was so strong, My wife was talking about some "Nobu" but she knows damn well we got Happy Boy Grill around the corner. There was a few flies and a few homeless tweakers but it's ok. The ladies were very professional and had no problem making my order in a timely manner, My sandwich was so exquisite it tasted like it was crafted by the finest of ingredients and Michelin star chefs. When I sat down to eat some tweaker was ranting about fake charges made on his credit card but it's ok. When I finished my meal I was satisfied, I ate everything including the napkins. The meat is comparable to A5 Wagyu in terms of quality, it tasted like those 5 star restaurants but cheaper and better. The soda fountain was quite dissapointing, I wanted a Strawberry Fanta but it got diluted because it was 85% water. But its all good, just get rid of the flies and fix the fountain. read more
