I love trying new restaurants that are quirky in their decor. This place is a neat find if you are looking for a nice sit down meal for lunch or dinner. My family and I came here after I bought a Groupon for this restaurant a while back. The Groupon was for a free lunch meal up to $10 for the purchase of $5 on the Groupon website. When we walked in one late afternoon around 2ish there was no one around, but we were greeted in a very quick, timely manner by the very nice hostess. We requested to eat out on the patio so the boys could look out into the river and watch the cars on the causeway or walkers pass by. We actually got to watch a couple pull up in their boat on the local dock a little ways down and walk over to the restaurant. We were greeted by our server very quickly and placed our drink orders. She brought everything back within a couple of minutes. I ordered the fish and chips off of the lunch menu (see the picture I attached to this page). I was amazed by the amount of fish and chips I received...piled high! The fish was hot, nicely battered, and fresh tasting, and the fries tasted like they were just removed from the fryer and seasoned with the perfect amount of salt. I also received a small side of cole slaw, but I didn't try it since I am not a fan of it. I was very pleased that my meal was only $5 thanks to my Groupon, and I had almost a full meal for the next days lunch!!! I very rarely use restaurant bathrooms, but I ended up needing to use theirs. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. Plus, the handle to my bathroom stall worked...the little things make me smile lol. Overall, I would give this a 5 star, but I feel that is is a little expensive given that we had one appetizer, two sweet teas, one kid's meal, and my lunch platter (that was free) and we still paid close to $30 without tip. Squid Lips wins for ambience; you can sit at a table on the beach as you dine. The first time I visited I did just that and watched a rocket launch. The food, however, is not as good as I expected; I'm not a fan of fried everything. But...they have music outside in the evenings and it's within walking distance for me, so I'm sure I'll be back. read more

I arrived here with an innate desire for tater tots ( I consider myself somewhat of a Connoisseur ) Alyssa said "we don't have tater tots" when I asked if they had them. She then Proceeded to not bring me tater tots.. Sandwich was great but she said the fries were quote "great" (presumed A-S tier); she then brought me fries I myself would consider a B tier fries (I suppose this is subjective) Overall though, great place! We came here last night for my boyfriends birthday and it was absolutely perfect. We sat on the covered back patio with a view of the water. There was a band scheduled which would've been amazing but they either canceled or stopped playing early because we didn't hear them from 7-9 while we were eating and drinking. I started off with the key lime pie martini which was good, but would've been better with a Graham cracker rim. I then got the bad little monkey bucket which was delicious and strong. If you like bananas, chocolate and coconut and want to get buzzed, definitely order this drink. We started out with the fried calamari which was good. The breading was a little heavy but there were a lot of large pieces of squid and it was fresh. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp scampi entree and I got the crab and lobster cakes. There is the option to have them prepared fried or pan seared so I tried one of each. The pan seared was better in my opinion. My boyfriend was really happy with his shrimp scampi because the sauce wasn't too heavy and there were a lot of pieces of fresh shrimp and scallops in the pasta. I'm giving this place one star because I thought their food was terrible. I ordered the "jumbo wings" with the "key lime habanero" sauce. When I got my wings they were just standard buffalo. I asked the waiter and he said that's the sauce. I told him I didn't know it was "buffalo key lime habanero" since the word buffalo wasn't mentioned at all in the description. So if you order these wings thinking you're going to get a delicious spicy lime and habanero sauce, you're actually going to get wings with red hot sauce dumped on top. And the wings weren't even fully dressed! The sauce was just sitting at the bottom of the basket. I also ordered the Shrimp and Grits with cheesy jalapeño grits. Omg, I don't know wtf kind of cat food they served up. The grits were bland and watery. No taste of cheese or jalapeño. They were also white, so it's obvious it wasn't seasoned. The butter and grease the shrimps were sautéed in was dumped on top. It was like getting a bottle of oil dumped over the grits. Disgusting! I scooped out as much oil as I could but it just wasn't worth eating. Never eating here again. The only point in favor was that the waiter was great. Very polite and very nice. read more

After hearing about Squid Lips many many times, I finally decided to check this place out. To my delight, I found all the positive talk to be true. It is a very precious restaurant with a gorgeous view of the riverside. You can have the option of either sitting inside or outside near the beach. The inside seating can have windows overlooking the beach area and the outside seating is on sand with the occasional Heron dropping by to say hello. The service was excellent. At 3pm on a Monday afternoon there weren't too many diners and so the service was very fast. Food was okay for the price. The price for the items on the menu wouldn't remind me of "bar food snacks" but since most of them featured seafood, the price was understandable. I would definitely recommend getting the weekday lunch specials. ($5.99 on select items with the order of a drink). The crunchy fish sandwich was delicious. I would not recommend the slices of pie. They were $6 each for a slice no bigger than your hand. The calamari portions were also rather small for how much they were. I hope to come back again one day for a seat on the beach, a margarita, and another fish sandwich! read more

I was really impressed with everything about this place. The speed of service, the friendliness of the employees, the location, and scenery, but most importantly the food. We had the shrimp basket on a day where they give you additional shrimp from the dinner shrimp basket, but even without it, it was huge! But besides the size of the food, there was how it tasted, and let me tell you, I thought I was going to get sick from eating everything because it tasted so good and I ate every last one, but I didn't. I do not know what type of batter they use, but it is really light and I like that because typically I have to keep the amount of fried shrimp I eat to a minimum because they are so battered. That is not the case here, so eat until you are full. You are going to love every bite. read more

What a great bar and beach restaurant. Tons of space with several casual seating areas and bars all offering something a little different. My favorite bar was the one on the water next to the beach. Food was good, services was very friendly, and I'd love to come back some day and spend the afternoon on their beach. Slurping oysters, drinks and some baskets of fresh seafood. You can go from having a sitdown sheltered dinner inside with the family, to enjoying drinks while playing cornhole on the beach. They have outdoor tables with low chairs so you can kick your feet in the sand while you stare at the causeway. I wish I had a bar like this closer to home. read more

Went on a recommendation from the staff at the hotel we were staying in. Absolutely delicious. I highly recommend getting the hot U-peel-shrimp. We Got it to share around the table. Everyone agreed that it was one the most delicious plain shrimp we have ever had. I got a Ceaser Salad with A salmon add in. The salad was just ok, but the fish more than made up for it. It was cooked to perfection and all but melted in my mouth. For dessert I got a Banana Pudding. It was made with a real banana layer over the pudding and it tasted very fresh. Only ding I have is the coffee that we ordered after dessert was cold. Our server was diligent and we got our food fairly quickly. However we came to eat a very late lunch at about 3:30pm so I can see the service being slower during rush hour. Seating outside is a must. There is a great view and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The live music was great and not too loud, which I find can be a problem sometimes. If I'm around Melbourne again, I'll certainly be back. read more

I have been here several times for lunch, which I always enjoyed. As you can see I returned here again for dinner. I love the casual atmosphere of this place. I arrived late on a Monday around 8pm without a reservation. I was able to get a table for two outside on the rail overlooking the evening beach. The weather was warm. I started with their Logo rum runner for $9. The calamari for $8.99 was tasty. I especially enjoy the tentacles. I had my usual Jambalaya, which was filling, but, average in quality and taste. I have had better Jambalaya at other restaurants. My total bill was $73 less gratuities. Maria did an excellent job to serve our table. I will definitely return here again to enjoy more calamari and something else besides the Jambalaya. read more

I did a takeout order of their fish dip after going to Seafood Direct where they had just sold out and I was having an ache for fish dip. So, I get this order and go home and my son and I start eating and did not use the 11 or so packs of shit crackers they give you, but cut up some broccoli and cauliflower and used that. Unfortunately the dip was so bland and even after adding the relish and onions they give you, it did nothing to improve the taste. So if fish dip is your thing go to the place about 2 minutes away and really enjoy. It's about half the rice also. I never ate at the restaurant so I have no idea what their other items are like, but if it's like the dip, then I'm sure I'm not missing much. read more

Great spot! So glad my husband had I gave it a shot! Lily, our server was great. All the staff wore masks(even outside) The entire establishment is HUGE. There's a cute little gift shop when you walk in. A large dining area inside. A large dining area on the deck outside (both with large bars and ample seating. And a large "beach" area with tons more seating! Wow! So very cool. The menu was nice however the appetizers seemed to outweigh the actual meal choices. But the appetizers were big enough to be meals anyhow. Our appetizer of choice was the coconut shrimp. It's very tasty and served with a nice orange marmalade. My husband and I both had the crunchy fish sandwich. The fish was HUGE and cooked to perfection. The seasoned fries were also yummy! Our first drink was awesome. Nice seafood restaurant with a nice view. I've come to Squid Lips twice with my brother and we get the fried shrimp basket and the coconut shrimp. It took roughly 15 minutes with only maybe 3-4 other families also at tables. The waiters are nice and check up on you regularly but not too much. Good attitudes like they actually enjoy working there. I'd recommend if you need a quick bite to eat and want seafood. read more

Only been here once during lunch time. we ordered the crunchy fried fish sandwich and needless to say it was phenomenal! The fillet of fish was huge, and it was fried perfectly. The bun that the sandwich came on was fresh and didn't fall apart at all. During lunch, the sandwich is 5.99 but you have to purchase a drink with it. Totally worth my money. I will come here again. Edit : the second visit was very disappointing. We ordered burger # 1 from the limited time menu and it was horrible. First off, it didn't come on the jalapeno bun as the menu stated. It came on the same sweet bun that the fish sandwiches are served on. To make matters worse, the burger itself was laden with barbecue sauce which was ultra sweet on its own. The overall tone of the burger was SWEET. The beef wasn't bad but with the bun and the sauce it was horrible and hard to finish. My suggestion would be to stick to the popular fish items. Overpriced and underwhelming service for average food at best. I had the mahi and shrimp keys combo and pretty much what I would expect from an Applebees. Actually, Applebees might be better. None of our meals were something we'd come back for. Also, a lot of stupid rules like no substitutions or only one sauce when they give you your choice. I expect better service. They also nickel and dime you along the way - they charged $.50 for ranch dressing with wings appetizer. Final bill had a "service charge" of $5 but the waiter had no idea where it went other than a "back of the house" charge. Take my advice, eat elsewhere. read more

Not my favorite item but it's a huge sandwich and very rich in flavor. If you aren't looking for something sweet, avoid this option.
