Service - our server was great. And the meal good if it had not been left to cool for too long while we waited for quite a while. Person who brought food (who was also was bussing tables) probably left it sitting for quite a while before they brought it to our table where most of it was just slightly above room temperature. My grilled mahi which was sort of chewy and seemed to lack the "sauce" I had selected and was under the cooled off grilled shrimp was sort of warmish but that was the only thing that was. Setting was interesting and we may be back to give them a second chance. Don't expect soap in the bathroom if that is important to you although the bathroom itself was fairly clean, if not in very good shape. And, as another person commented, the prices are pretty high for what you get. My wife ordered calamari which was barely above room temperature and there were far more french fries than fried squid. Again, our server was very nice and it looked very promising at first. She asked about the food and was advised it was not very warm. No fault of the waitress, but odd considering other dishes on the menu offer grilled. Food 3/5 - I had the shrimp and lobster Mac n cheese, my grandmother had baja fish tacos. - Shrimp and lobster Mac n cheese was typical Mac n cheese, with lots of small shrimp spread throughout. Lobster was quite possibly missing and much to be desired. In summary it's a nice comfort food dish, but nothing to boast about. Served with generic salad choices. - The tacos were very good. Had a neat mix of flavors: fried fish with cabbage, lime, pico de Gallo, and chipotle creme sauce (was spicy). I recommend if you like fried fish tacos. Atmosphere 4/5 while waiting for our table (75 min) live music was playing on the patio, we sat at an available table by the bar (inside). Sitting at the outside bar was quite loud, so we opted to sit inside, resulting in a nice music background. Once seated at our patio table we had a fantastic view of the river. The live music continued to be a nice auditory background. Nice intermittent breezes to cool off. All around clean and well maintained, with clean bathrooms. I will be honest and say the only times I eat at Squid Lips Overwater Grill is during their Sunday brunch. For $14.99, you get one of the best brunch buffets served on a Sunday morning which is saying something given the fact many restaurants that aren't fast food (self-explanatory) or fast casual (Chipotle's or Panera Bread). Squid Lips is located right next to the Eau Gallie Library in the heart of the Eau Gallie Art District (EGAD). If it helps out, it is right at the west end of the Eau Gallie Causeway. The restaurant surely looks like something that fits on the beach as it comes off as a glorified surf shack. However, the building actually has a lot of history as there are trinkets and reminders of what it used to be, a historical building actually. Anyways, I went on Sunday with my friend Patrick as we wanted to eat the brunch before church. I have to say the food they served was phenomenal. They had a wide range of traditional breakfast foods in the buffet area. However, the areas that really stood out for me were the Bloody Mary bar (for all the alcoholics fighting their hangovers), the eggs served four ways section, and the omelette station. I got to eat a western omelette made to order. Delicious! To top it off, you can eat your food while gazing out at fishers fishing off a pier just next to the the Eau Gallie Causeway while a violinist or guitarist plays tunes. All in all, it was a wonderful experience for a price that is neither cheap or expensive. I would say it is typical for such a specific event. One day, I will go back to Squid Lips to eat their food during their typical lunch and dinner times but for the brunch, definitely worth it. read more

A great experience! We jumped off I-95 for lunch with a cousin. This was their recommendation and we loved it. A unique place with great scenery and fabulous food and FINE company! My husband had the pineapple teriyaki mahi-mahi sandwich and enjoyed it. I got the "Our Salad" with mahi-mahi with honey lime. Oh ma goodness!!!!' Soooo good! It was loaded with candied nuts, feta and other yummy things and the mahi-mahi was wonderfully fresh! We also ordered the coconut onion chips which we saw in another review. It was $9.99 for a basket that seems a little skimpy but they tasted good. Probably would leave that off if I came back to visit. If I were local this would be a favorite for me!! So many delicious sounding dishes to try. I didn't try it but the Mahi-mahi with Thai peanut sauce sounds great! Let me know if you try it! We sat inside at the Window with a great view of the water. I will never go to Squid Lips again. Every time I have been in the past I always left making excuses for the bad experience. I always thought that since so many people eat there there has to be a reason and I just caught them on a bad night. Well this time is the last. Wanted to eat inside so we were put next to the patio doors that banged every time someone went through them. The server station was not far away and was open. We know what a server feels about a customer now. The food was mediocre at best. Stuffed Shrimp with the shell on. Wilted salad, they probably make them ahead of time then set them in the walk in or cooler cabinet. I guess we could've asked to move but then the hostess should realize the location of the table and place us accordingly. I'm not going to make an excuse for them this time. The lettuce in the salad was brown and wilted and the dressing was tasteless. The shrimp was also without flavor yet greasy and overcooked. My bloody Mary was spicier than I like but decent. My husband ordered the shrimp and scallop scampi, which was really like shrimp scallop fettuccine Alfredo. He liked it but I did not. I ordered the Seabass Lorenzo, which was a very nice piece of fish, perfectly cooked, but aside from some capers, not seasoned at all. The fish was hot and tasty, however, it was accompanied by a spoonful of lukewarm instant rice and a scoop of overcooked, unseasoned and lukewarm mixed vegetables on a huge plate that only serve to emphasize the paltry side dishes, No bread or salad , and for those prices there should've been something on offer. The only redeeming part of the entire meal was the banana pudding which my husband loves. We were delivered a gigantic- I mean, huge enough for three people size bowl of the most delicious banana pudding I've ever eaten. I think we had a one off experience here. Our food took 2 hours to come out and one of the plates wasn't brought out at all, it had to be re ordered. Waiting 2 hours with a 4 yr old, 2 yr old, 11 month and 6 month (we had friends with us) is not ideal. So we took everything in to-go boxes and re heated our main dishes at home. Now the manager did do what she could to right the wrong and the fish dip and nachos we had were delicious and the food at home was decent. Went early for Mother's Day anticipating a large crowd and somewhat longer wait times. Was seated immediately. 4adults/4children Greeted by the waitress, ordered drinks and appetizers. Waited over 30 mins for appetizers to arrive. After watching multiple tables being served and cleared and new people being seated, we asked our server where our food was. 1.5 hours waiting. No refills. Nothing. She brought out two small loaves of bread and said the manager is coming right over. Then we waited about 10 mins for the manager to come by only to tell us that we are 3rd in line in the kitchen!!!! He argued with us that it was busy and the grill is small. I explained that tables of the same size had come in after us and had already left. If they simply told us the order wasn't entered or forgotten about, I could have accepted that. I asked for the kids meals to be brought out. 3 of the 4 were delivered. the last one came out with the adult meals. One in which had to be returned because it was wrong. Not even one simple apology from our server or the manager. The way the problem was rectified is when the check was delivered, we were told that the gratuity for parties of 8 or more was removed. All the food was hot and ok. Definitely not worth the wait. However, the management and service is below acceptable. I will NOT return to this location. read more

The prices were very reasonable and the staff were all very friendly.
