I can't really comment on the food because we didn't even get to that point. I was on travel in the area with some co-workers. We had to wait even though the restaurant was more than half empty. And then when we did get seated we waited for a good 10-15 minutes and didn't even have a waiter/waitress ask us for drinks or even acknowledge us. We always try to support local businesses when we travel because of how often we are on the road, but we will not be giving Squid Lips at this location another chance. read more

I wanted to like this place because it is within walking distance of our condo. I tried it 5 times during my trip. Each time I got something different. The food is just not seasoned well or really at all. My daughter ordered queso but it ended up being a mixture of what looked like velveeta cheese and rotel. She was expecting white cheese. I thought it was ok. Not great. I tried the fish nuggets, calamari, and mahi. Nothing had much flavor. The beer was nice and cold. Service was extremely slow. My daughter also ordered the kids shrimp. It came with 4 very small fried shrimp. Her friend had the same amount. That was a let down. Usually a kids portion has at least 6. I went over twice to have a drink on a weekend night. They close at 9, even the bar on a weekend night! This was also disappointing. The sunset is pretty from the patio. This place is just understaffed and not very good. I will say the bartender was great! Very accommodating. read more

A restaurant on the river where you can drive up in your boat, yet you have to be wearing shoes and a shirt... There's one person inside the restaurant, and maybe another 15 outside, including us. I like this place, and the food isn't too bad, but you won't serve people who've come in on a boat who forgot their shoes. If it was packed..ok, but it's not...go figure. Worst experience ever! Party of 8 that came for drinks/appetizers with out of town guests. The deck was almost empty and the management refused to put 2 tables together so that we could all be seated together. Wanted us to sit at 2 different tables. I was SO embarrassed that we had recommended this place to our friends. The management was rude and unaccommodating. We have frequented Squid Lips in Melbourne on many occasions and always enjoyed our meal/services. Took the family here for Father's Day and was very disappointed. The table we got was in a dark corner next to the kitchen and we could not even see the waterside. The food was terrible. My shrimp and pasta was cold when it came out my boys' burgers were good but the fries were exactly the ones I buy from the grocery store. The waiter seemed nice but was too busy to provide good service. I wanted to Lille the restaurant. The location is great but after eating here I feel like the place is a bar that serves food but not a good restaurant. Thumbs down. read more

Having missed its sign, we googled and were not disappointed with its welcoming Koi pond and Florida casual outdoor river waterfront deck dining. Would have preferred a few high tops to take advantage of the waterfront view, while the deck misters and fans not quite able to handle summer sun so choose your outdoor tables accordingly if shade will matter. Our waitress, Risa, was outstanding and very forthcoming with all our requests for menu explanations of fresh vs frozen. We took her "fresh that day grouper" entree with crunchy flake topping suggestion and give it a solid 4 stars, and conch lovers skip the frozen conch fritters to order the "kracked konk" as it was hot, crispy, tender and flavorful and worth 5 stars. The happy hour drinks were discounted full bar offers and the beer was cold. We like glass and not plastic, but accept that restaurants and COVID have changed how we are served. Appetizers - very good! We had the coconut shrimp and the garlic teriyaki wings. The shrimp were tasty and the marmalade sauce concoction was a very good accomplitment....6 shrimp for $10 was not enough. The wings were huge and amazing! We would easily come back for the wings...probably the only reason we'd come back. Drinks- good, especially with a decent happy hour. Entrees- we did the "not so famous" baskets and found out the real reason for the poor scores. The fish and chip basket was "different"..we are no fish and chip experts but these were very different than your average Space Coast area places..Grillz, Rusty's, Captain J's, Long Doggers...they might actually be better to people who know fish, but to us the texture was the equivalent to an egg white omelette....way too weird and disgusting. We also had the shrimp basket. We only ordered it after we had the coconut shrimp because we thought they'd use the same shrimp....they didn't!!! They used shrimp a 10th of the size and with tales the same consistency as the meat....I ate them whole because there was literally no difference. Thankfully, after my 4th shrimp there was a hair in the basket! How bad can a dish be where you're thankful for a hair in your food?? But that was the case. (The manager and the server handled this very well) the way it was handled was the difference between a one star and two star...SAD Service- Not great, not the worst, but on par with Waffle House, which isn't a compliment for a restaurant like this with a terrific location....My wife asked for two things and two things only, but the server never answered on either one!! Danielle was our server, but she never really was anything more than a delivery bot. Is she still searching for that extra tartar sauce or checking with the bartender over whether they have Campari?? We live a few blocks down and we were careful driving past so we wouldn't crash into some of the traffic they were generating!! We were so proud that this place was in our neck of the woods! What the f@ck happened??!! I predict they will be out of business in this location in about year without some serious restructuring. Overall feel- I felt like Chunk when he discovered the Fratellis hideout!!! More than half the place is unused and there are doors and fences falling down all over the property....I think I even saw an "ORV with bulletholes"....please get the Goonies reference....please. My husband and I just went for our anniversary. We order steamed clams as an appetizer and they were so tiny they should have been thrown back into the sea. For dinner we both had the shrimp and scallops with fettuccine. Tons of fettuccine and very little seafood. I doubt we'll go back. read more

Not very friendly service or very good food or very good mixed drinks, but others in our group like the location so I occasionally get dragged in here. Huge thumbs down on the new Squid Lips location. This is a river side restaurant, they did a beautiful job redoing the riverside deck from the old place that was there. It was a beautiful night, was looking forward to a nice meal and sunset. Deck was almost empty. Then I was told if we wanted anything off the menu other than their bar food, we had to sit inside, because and I quote "it is unfair to the inside servers if the deck serves the full menu." Apparently their nice deck area is only for people who are out to drink. They must be confused into thinking they are on Minuteman Causeway or by one of the many Cocoa Beach parks. They aren't. They are 20 blocks off the strip in no mans land. The only reason to go there is the nice river view with dinner in the evening. Instead we got treated to their bland, empty interior. We went the evening of 05/28/16. Almost didn't go because of all the reviews saying how bad it was. Went anyway and the service was friendly, the portions were good, and the food was tasty. Started with fish tacos as appetizers. We then had stuffed flounder and both tacos and flounder were excellent. Went back 05/29/16 for the Breakfast Buffet, which is Sunday only, and it was excellent. Omelets and two kinds of Eggs Benedict as well as waffles, French toast, and biscuits & gravy with large homemade biscuits. They even offer a $2.00 discount if you "Clean your plate." Take what you want and if you eat what you take you get a discount. It helps to reduce wasting of food. All in all, I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a good meal overlooking the water! read more

Went to the Cocoa Beach location for our son's birthday. Sat outside overlooking the river. Service was terrible. Took a long time to order appetizers and when the appetizers arrived we were not given plates to eat on. I asked the server if we could have plates and he said he would bring it up with the waiter. We also didn't get bread at the beginning of the meal like the other customers around us. When I ordered my dry rubbed steak I asked the waiter if it came with bread. He said yes. Entrees arrived and still no bread. In addition, all of our drinks had been empty for over ten minutes and no one offered to get us more. We finally flagged down a waitress serving other tables I asked if she could bring us some bread and drinks and she did. Our waiter appeared shortly after and was completely apathetic about our service. He really didn't care. Food was good. Outside tables were too noisy to have normal conversation especially after the band started playing. read more

Lets start with the positives. The absolute best part of this place is the outdoor seating..an unparalleled view right on the water, an awesome big and clean deck, and a good live band. Also, I thought our waitress did a fine job. However, I think the negatives outweigh the positives. For starters, when you walk in the restaurant we all thought it smelled like a toilet. Also, the inside of the restaurant looked dreadfully outdated. The food also proved to be unsatisfactory. My wife got a fried shrimp and fish basket (you would think a safe choice) in which the fish was mushy and both were bland. I got the steamed mussels which were supposed to be in a white wine sauce. All I could taste was garlic. Now I love garlic as much as the next guy, but seriously, it was way overpowering and just short of inedible. All in all, I think the only role for this place is as a touristy spot to grab some drinks on the water and listen to some live music. read more

I bought a Groupon to try this place out. We drove over from Orlando to spend the afternoon and evening around Cocoa Beach. We arrived just before 5pm and it was during happy hour. We sat outside - it was a breezy 80 degrees and the view was fantastic. The patio sat on the Banana River facing the west and they also have a dock going out a bit - the sunset was beautiful and we even saw some dolphins. The service was great. A manager, Jason, came around and checked on us multiple times and our waitress, Samantha, was frequently by to check on our drinks and ask if we were doing ok. This goes along way for us. We chose Steak and Shrimp and Keys Combo. All of the food was great and I loved the sirloin. We also tried the Banana Pudding - it had a mousse-y texture and my husband really liked it. They also had a band playing. The atmosphere was fun and we had a blast eating, drinking and watching the sunset. We would definitely return. read more

Came here with the fiancé while on vacation, despite seeing the hit-or-miss reviews. Luckily, we had an excellent experience! We ordered the happy hour U-Peel shrimp for an appetizer, which was great and a very good deal. My fiancé ordered the stuffed flounder, which he said was delicious, and he even liked the vegetables (which he usually avoids). I ordered the dozen steamed clams, which were AMAZING and very fresh. Our server (I believe his name was Gary) was kind, attentive, and very helpful. The only downside was not being able to sit outside, but as other reviewers mentioned, that is not the fault of the restaurant. We will definitely be returning when we visit Cocoa Beach again. read more

The Caesar salad was so horrible I returned it, it tasted like someone had poured lemon juice all over it. Overall we were very disappointed. Since there aren't too many places to eat on the far south end of Cocoa Beach, we were glad to try the recently taken over Squid Lips. Darn---wanted it to be fantastic since we live close by. First, we were hoping they had spent a little money to update the decor since the previous restaurant--dull, outdated, and worn looking--seems dirty though it probably wasn't. If you are going because of the great deck, it has been closed for months due to pending permits. The food choices are diverse, however most is fried or cream based and very few healthy options. The mixed veggie side is a good choice. Nothing our table ordered was bad, but not fantastic--mediocre. Service was good. We will stop in again for a drink and hope the patio is open again soon--will save our fresh seafood dinner for another place. read more

We really enjoyed our lunch at Squid Lips in Cocoa Beach! My husband ordered the buffalo shrimp wrap and I ordered the shrimp basket. They were both delicious! The shrimp was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. The coke slaw tastes like my mom's so of course it was yummy. The fries were crispy, hot and seasoned just right. Ordered a dozen oysters at Happy Hour. Was told they didn't have them available at Happy Hour prices, but if we still wanted them, then ..............., you know the rest. It will be a good tourist place, like Coconuts. There's plenty of places for the locals to go. Other than that, the service was great at the Bar. The place was empty because the City of Cocoa won't allow dock dining because of Code Violations. I'm sure the owners will take care of that, and then the tourists will have somewhere else to go. I'm glad we do. It's a shame. I've been looking forward to it since I heard they were opening in the Cocoa Beach location. read more

Went last evening, Sat at 6:30 to sit outside. Hostess told us that the deck was closed due to compliance issues. Our party of 5 agreed to sit inside. Only one room, was open which was overcrowded, loud with screaming kids and and gross. There were other tables in another darkened area that were not being used. We were seated at at a table that was sticky and the plastic menus were also gross. We all looked at each other and. dcided not to waste our money here since there are so many other places to choose from. Won't try it again. read more

My boyfriend and I had dinner here last night. The Coconut Shrimp taste like the came from a frozen Sea Pak box. Same goes for the fries and the mixed vegetables I didn't try those the looked like so unappetizing. Caesar salad was ok dressing was watered down. His Grouper was ok, fishy tasting. The restaurant needs updating and menu overhaul with fresh local ingredients. That's what we are used to and what people want. read more
